Maple latte
Joe N.

Being a capital one member, I have been to this location a few times. While there are many great coffee shops in the area, this is one of our "go to" places when w need a quick "pick me up". The drinks "as is" are a bit on the sweeter side but still good. I enjoy their espresso and often do a "quad" instead of the standard double. Plus, it's half off if you use a capital one or Discover card. We usually just sit for a break and then go. However, they do have plenty of seating and meeting areas. Would be a good place to work or write.

Honey Lavender Latte iced

I always pop into a Capital One Cafe when it's nearby. I ordered the honey lavender latte iced and it was delicious. I love the space, airy and open. No line, no waiting. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Check them out if you're nearby. Half off for card holders.

Matcha Latte

Always nice to stop by a Capital One Cafe. Consistently clean with a nice ambiance. Stopped by for a drink and didn't stay, but the interior was the same as any other, so this spot is great for work or conversation. Prices with a Capital One card or their promotions are always solid. Matcha Latte - matcha was whisked decently, but the ratio of milk to matcha was off. There was significantly more milk and the matcha flavor was undermined. Now I don't expect a perfect matcha here, especially with all the coffee offerings, but less milk or a bit more matcha would've been strong.

Came in on a Saturday. There was a homeless (houseless) guy camped out in front (it is Portland). Place is spacious with high ceilings. I came to try a cappucino with 50% off for using cap1 card. They only have disposable cups. The drink looked nice but tasted more like a coffee with frothed milk. It was bad. They have a security guard. They referred to him as an ambassador/security guard.

I had three welcoming employees when I entered. I really like matcha so I got the candy apple matcha soda. It's sparkling apple cider and matcha and I have to say it was quite delicious! I am a cardholder so I was able to get it half price. The cafe is cozy and a banker is on standby but it's a nice spot to relax. Not overly crowded like other competitors. Will be back when I'm in the area!

Ginger snap latte with scone and muffin
Neha G.

Jan 20 review: We got the Ginger snap latte, a marionberry muffin and a scone + 2 other coffees- all under 16 dollars using the 50% capital one customer discount. Seating area is very wide and enough space for group seating or to do the meetings. They have chase staff standing for answering any ques and keeping an eye i guess. Some free goodies from chase- bag tag on the way out. Their restroom were not open at the time we visited.

This was my first time at a Capital One Cafe. Very nice working area, if you need to get some work done or study, this would be perfect. Plenty of upstairs seating. Also, if you have a capital one venture credit or debit card, you can get 50% off your drink (excludes food and smoothies) They serve Verve coffee (I believe it previously was peet's) I ordered a lavender honey matcha latte. It was good, not to sweet imo. My fiancé got a coffee latte. Drinks were good, service was good.

Skip it, go somewhere local nearby. New capital one member and stopped for a coffee. I got a ginger snap latte. It was WAYYY too sweet but had good flavor. The coffee was bitter. It made my stomach hurt and I have no issues with coffee or milk. Service was as expected. Ambiance was empty and clean. Not somewhere I'd want to get coffee again.

Breakfast club sandwich

The people who work here are so sweet, nice, and professional. They're the reason this cafe is getting two stars. My issue is with the operation of this cafe. I understand this is downtown Portland and prices are due to be higher than normal, but this was really surprising. I paid $10 for a breakfast sandwich that I could have gotten across the street at Starbucks for $5, and it would have tasted better at Starbucks! Something needs to be adjusted- either the price needs to come down or the quality of the food needs to come up. I would recommend avoiding this place until this is addressed, which I doubt it will be.

I made the switch over to a CCU after I was fed up with Wellfargo charging a starving college student a $20 fee for *not* using their credit card. It was a fantastic option for a young 20something learning the ropes of financial stability, but I didn't do more than try to keep money in the bank and pay off my credit card every month. Then our 1999 beater kicked the bucket. My partner and I knew it was going to happen eventually and we would have to get some sort of car. Both of us were attracted to the idea of driving an electric car so we went into the Sellwood branch to ask for our options. We were helped by Brittany K and she was an absolute dream. Student loans can be crippling and we were really concerned we wouldn't even be approved for a loan! Brittany advocated for us all the way and we approved! If you've read this far, this is where the *above and beyond* customer service starts. We were in negotiations to buy a Nissan Leaf through an online dealer. We had a $250 hold down on the car and we're about to sign papers! After a bunch of back and forth between the dealer and Brittany, she let us know that the dealer wasn't actually able to even prove they owned the title to sell legally! She then went out of her way to find us a simmilar car with a reputable dealer Unitus trusts! We ended up loving the other car way more than the shifty dealer and my partner and I are fighting over who gets to drive it! None of this would have been possible without Brittany's help she really went to bat for us. I highly recommend Unitus to anyone who is just starting out and might not be savvy enough to negotiate predatory lending/financial situations.

It wasn't until I went to the other bank teller that I started getting better customer service. I was told that I wasn't welcome inside this Wells Fargo when a random stray dog (it was a German Shepherd) followed another customer into this branch in 2000. I told the bank teller that I didn't own a dog. The dog was thrown away downtown at the waterfront because it was no longer a puppy. I told the bank teller that I was going to move my account. I did eventually get an apology from a different bank teller at a different location of Wells Fargo Bank (the other location is also in Portland... but in Southeast Portland).

I later left them when they moved branches out of my area and switched to OnPoint, thinking the experience would be similar since they're a credit union. Well, busy raising babies and other priorities. Hence the complacency. Now I'm looking back and realizing I'm not happy and I feel taken advantage of. Even at US Bank we at least tried to upsell better products to clients who's account balances weren't sitting in proper accounts. I had a Savings IRA with cash sitting there not earning interest, a whopping savings in a standard savings account not earning proper interest, denied for a car loan (that was a first ever for me but we were just coming out of the recession & had lost our jobs and our home so my credit suffered). Now, we still have cash in the bank, an excellent credit score again, I finally moved my IRA to someone else and it's earning money, but as I'm shopping for a new loan I'm noticing that OnPoint's rates suck and so do their checking & savings accounts. They just go too big for their britches & stopped caring about the member. I just opened a new account with Embold. GOODBYE!

Frankly, we didn't notice because the account is dedicated to paying the loan, and we don't look at it all the time. Instead of contacting us immediately to let us know the payments didn't go through, they let us go on for 3 months then affected my credit report by 60 points. The customer service representatives refused to help me or reverse the report even though we always made payments previously and made the late payments as soon as we found out the originals did not go through. Which was only after looking at my credit report. They never notified us. They insist notices were sent in the mail, but we never received them. This is horrible customer service. Had we been alerted via a simple phone call, email, or message in the online banking portal, this would have been resolved immediately. Now my credit has significantly dropped, and the negative report will be on my credit for the next 7 years. Onpoint Community Credit Union needs to start contacting customers immediately when a loan payment is missed via phone call, email, and messages on the online banking portal. This used to be a great credit union; now it is worse than a big bank. We are paying the loan off early and closing our accounts with them as soon as possible. Put your money elsewhere.
