Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a repair company. This company stole from me. I called them to fix my washer and was charged $150 for the visit -- fine, that's standard. But then the technician, Chris W., added another $150 for "labor" that I never agreed to. There was no invoice!-- he charged my card immediately and only later sent a receipt with the added fee with $300 for labor. $705 including parts. Again, no repair done. He said he ordered the part, then claimed Samsung sent the wrong one. After that, he no-showed three different times. When I called to ask where he was, he literally said, "Obviously I'm not there, so why would you wait around?" He even admitted he was at a baseball game. Over text, Chris acknowledged the terrible service and said he'd refund me everything. Of course, that never happened. Now I'm in a credit card dispute because they've refused to refund a single dollar -- not the labor, not the part, nothing. I called a different company who charged a reasonable fee to diagnose. I purchased part, spend 10 minutes swapping the part and I fixed the washer myself. Do yourself a favor -- go anywhere else. You'll save money, time, and a massive headache. Just don't. I'm out $560. He came by to check out my washer and said it was the electrical board that was fried. That diagnostic that took less than 30 minutes cost $95. He said it'd be $465 for parts and labor to fix and that I'd have to prepay first. Then he came back to replace the board but it still wasn't working. So, he said it's the transmission of the washer and that it would cost more to fix it than just getting a new washer. He said he'd refund the amount for the parts since it wasn't the board. However, after multiple attempts to get that refund back he just stopped replying. I even contacted the BBB to help with some kind of mediation. He did not respond to them either. So, save yourself time and money and just don't contact this guy. read more

Awful came to repair spinning cycle washer.said labor and parts were close to $500. Part had to order from California. This is a week before Christmas. The delay was because his wife had a bladder infection. Then finally heard from him several days after New Year and he came and fixed the spinning cycle but it still didn't work and clothes came out wet. On the phone he told me that it was the sensors and the part had to be ordered from California. Next someone bought it and it had to be ordered from California again .Never heard from him again and my calls just went to voicemail. I asked him to please return my money since he couldn't repair it.It is now the end of February! I called Oahu appliance repair and they quickly sent a technician who said that those parts weren't the problem it was the bearings and motor and too expensive to fix. I lost my $500.00 and ordered a new washer! Bad news this company who totally scammed me and never returned any of my money. Run! read more

We hired Chris from Capitol Mechanical Appliance to fix our fridge and while he was fine during the process, communication wasn't great, but we got the job done and moved on. Now, less than a year later it's broken again and Chris was nowhere to be found. The number is bad, the website is gone and our warranty is now useless. Very disappointed in the service provided. I started with a leaking machine and ended up with a leaking machine that was also loud and without $400. Here is a summary of what that service entailed, and why I am disappointed but if it's too long just know you're better off with another company: On October 9th I put in a request on Angie's List for a washing machine repair as my machine was periodically leaking. Within 20 minutes of putting in the request I got a call from Chris asking a few questions and saying he could come out to look at the machine, that the charge would be $65 but it could go to any labor if I went forward with them. I agreed, in part because he made it clear he would do his best to solve any problems we were having for less than it would cost to replace the machine (the machine was $500 when I purchased it, but I have a dryer stacked on top of it an I was nervous i would need to replace both if I got a new washer). He came out two days later, forgetting to call before he showed up, but luckily someone was home. He said that there was a problem with how much soap we were using which caused buildup and he thought we would also need to replace a part. He estimated the cost at $400 and said he could have someone pick up the machine the next day, with a call before pickup. Again, no call, but someone was home so it wasn't an issue. They informed us they could have it done the next Monday, maybe Tuesday if it took longer to get the part. By Wednesday we hadn't heard back from them, so we gave them a call and they made some excuse and said they would have it on Friday. The next Monday (1 week after their initial time) we still hadn't heard anything so we called again. Finally the date got pushed back to Wednesday evening. This time they didn't call but they also didn't show up. I called them and asked that they just give me a guarantee of when it would be back. One of the guys (Travis) said he was 100% sure they could have the machine back the next day. On that day, they called me around 10AM saying there was a problem with the bearing. This was news to me and it's still unclear why it took so long for them to figure that out, my guess is they either broke it themselves or didn't actually start working on the machine until that morning. At this point I just wanted to be able to wash my clothes so I said just bring the machine back. They finally returned it that afternoon, and the machine was no incredibly loud, apparently because of the bearing. We did 3 loads of laundry, and on the 4th again noticed water leaking. I called them and they said they would get someone back out. Chris came out on the 31st of October and said the door was leaking. He said I'd probably just need to replace the machine because it was so old. I mentioned it was only two years old and he seemed surprised (clearly he hadn't paid attention to the model). He said he would look up the model and figure out the cost. By November 5th, I hadn't gotten a response, so I called Travis who I had been told to be in contact with, he said he would look into it and call me back (he didn't). On Thursday the 8th I called again, no pick up but Travis called me back and said Chris would call me in 15 minutes (he didn't). On Friday the 9th (one month after first making contact), I called Travis again and was told to reach out directly to Chris. Chris didn't pick up but returned my call. I told him why I was bothered and that I thought he owed me an explanation for why I paid $400 for a diagnosis he made that was wrong. He then tried to lecture me for not knowing business and eventually I told him my response would be a review on Yelp and Angie's list He hung up on me. He then sent this text "Go ahead and put a negative review and I will tell the truth. You can't understand business I'm not going to argue with you. You paid labor for a tube clean and not parts. Sorry you can't understand. Have a nice day." I thought this was odd after they told me that the washer might take longer because they needed to order a part. Anyways, there service is slow and clearly unreliable. Chris is rude, inconsiderate, and unappreciative of the business you give him. My biggest regret isn't the $400, it's that I wasted my time dealing with a man who thinks business is making incorrect diagnoses and thinking it's the customers fault for believing him. read more

We bought a house with an expensive built-in refrigerator/freezer. The icemaker was not working at all. I had already had another appliance repair company come and they were unable to repair the icemaker. Replacing the entire unit seemed to be their suggestion. Chris arrived on time. He carried in only his laptop. He opened the freezer and inspected the water feed line. He pointed out the spigot was frozen solid. He told me to simply turn off the freezer only for 24 hours and it would be fine. He then looked online and found the proper settings for both units. He reset the digital controls and gave me a quick explanation of their proper use and settings. I moved our frozen items to our small fridge's freezer. Turned off the big unit. 24 hours later I restarted the freezer and turned on the icemaker. It has worked perfectly ever since. read more

I couldn't have had a better experience after having a bad experience of dryer and refridge issues that just had bad timing! My dryer was automatically turning off after about 10 minutes--I tried all the troubleshooting methods that I could. I called CMA the next morning and booked an appointment with Chris for the following day between Noon-5pm. Received a call at 11:50 saying he had one stop and I was next--he was at my house by 12:30ish give or take--I love how my expectations were set with a simple courtesy call. Chris was extremely professional, and super knowledgeable and took the time to check every area of the dryer to narrow down the issue--think of it as a process of elimination yet he had a strong feeling what the issue was all along. I like that. Plus he took the time to explain the 'whys' of everything without hesitation. The issue ended up being--which no one ever thought of or suggested--was not the dryer at all, but rather the breaker switch (to my AC and dryer)--it was bad. Chris replaced it in a matter of minutes and I was up and running again. Additionally, I had a leak in my refridge that started around the holidays. I was keeping the issue at bay with a towel to catch the slow drips from piling up and eventually seeping out of the door on the floor. Chris removed the back panel and inspected everything--and thoroughly explained to me the issue--which was basically a line was frozen up. Recommended I unplug the refridge for 24 hours and the problem should be fixed. I plan to do it this afternoon. I couldn't be more thrilled with the service, and highly recommend CMA for appliance services. CMA will definitely be my go to company--and will refer to anyone who is in need of a top notch appliance services company. read more

4/5/23 Called Chris Woelfel to look at our LG icemaker. without looking at it he was already quoting a new replacement. After about 30 minutes of listening to him small talk I ask him again to please look at the icemaker. Without touching it and glancing at it from the open drawer door he said it was tilted and needed to be replaced. Myself I think there was ice buildup as the ice tray turns over without ice in it. Heard him call sears to get estimated cost. Said only 1 in Hawaii so I said take it please. Total of invoice was $1043.64, $759.90 part and $283.74 labor/tx. Within an hr I called Chris to tell him Sears said $119 cost of the icemaker delivered to my house. He claimed he had to mark it up cuz he gives 1 year warr. He also discounted my labor from $350 to $250. He promised refund me if I dont give him bad review. Waited 1 month and disputed it on my creditcard. Appliance Svc Pro did it for $500 less and regular labor is $250. They also took it out and tried repairing. Came back after 3 days with part. Allowed me to clean behind frig and did a fantastic job. I am 72 and CMA is taking advantage of kupunas and regular people who don't know any better. Please beware of his vendor. Don't believe anything he says. Chris came out to replace a new main board on my Samsung refrigerator. He pulled the back panel off and noticed that a major part was missing! The manufacturer forgot to put it in! We were contacted by Chris through Home Advisor when I was looking for someone to fix our fridge that was not cooling. He came out on March 14th and quickly diagnosed the issue. He said he will fix the issue by replacing a part (that he had in his truck) and also add Freon. It was fixed quickly and I was charged $350 (which I thought was ridiculously high, but oh well, what was I going to do). On Monday 04/23, a month later, the fridge is not working. I contacted Chris, he promptly answered my first call and said he would call me back in 15 mins. He did not. I texted and called him the next day, no answer. Yesterday I decided to blow up his phone, and finally after more than a dozen calls, he answers. He says that he is now only focusing on air conditions and will be passing my info along to another repair man. He also added that I live "across the world from him" so he can't come out. He is passing the buck off to someone else and not taking ownership of him not actually fixing the fridge's issue. I am convinced he just added Freon and left, without actually repairing anything. If this wasn't a $350 "fix" I would not be typing up this review, but since it is, I feel it is necessary to warn others. I contacted him this morning, and have not heard back. If Chris decides to act professionally and take ownership of the issue, I will GLADLY update my review. READ THE REVIEWS ON GOOGLE BEFORE YOU DEAL WITH CHRIS. They reflect accurately my experience. All I can figure from all these positive reviews is that he selectively takes advantage of people. I was one of them and my story is below. I called CMA about water leaking into my produce drawers. Chris came, charged me a ridiculous amount of money, and it still wasn't fixed. A few months later he came back and "fixed" it again. After the problem persisted (water leaking into the produce drawers), I called a Samsung authorized repair person to come to the house.He immediately knew what was wrong. It is apparently a defect in the design that requires a fairly straightforward fix (once the kit is available). The cost? Less than $250. I read the repairman the work order notes from his visit and he was absolutely shocked. He confirmed what I believed all along--that the work needed to repair the problem was not actually completed and that I was charged over $600 unnecessarily. Chris conned me, 100%. I am a single woman who lives in a nice home. He fully took advantage of the situation. Here are the observations from the authorized Samsung repairman: --CMA repairman cut into a sealed system for no reason. The solution to the problem did not require it. ---The process of cutting into the sealed system was not completed correctly. The dryer needed to be replaced and it wasn't. --There is no way the parts he said had been replaced could have been replaced onsite during the first visit. The parts aren't easily accessible, even to authorized dealers. They would have needed to be ordered. After examining the refrigerator, he was confident the cover was not replaced at all--even though I was charged for it. --If there was a sheet of ice inside the cover of the fridge, then the fridge would not have required refrigerant. If it had been low on refrigerant, it wouldn't have been cooling. But I was charged over $100 to add refrigerant. --The requirement that I take all the food out of my fridge and unplug it so the ice melted was completely unnecessary. The repair person could have done this on his own. He could have melted the ice during the repair process. --And the salt in the wound is that I spent over $600 and the produce bins continued to fill up with water. Ultimately, the CMA repairman was incapable of fixing a Samsung refrigerator, and he should have turned down the job and recommended I call an authorized repair person. He charged me for unnecessary work and non-existent parts. When I asked for a breakdown of the price (parts and labor), I was told it wouldn't be possible. The parts he claims to have replaced weren't even listed on the receipt. It was all classified as labor. I spent over $600 to not fix my fridge. What a scam. read more

Our oven broke on Superbowl Sunday of all the days (at least it wasn't Christmas!) so we called Landmark Home Warranty to have someone come out. They set us up with Capitol Mechanical Appliance. We received a call with a day and were able to schedule them to come out this morning (they had availability to come earlier but I couldn't make it happen with my crazy work week last week.) The window I was give was 8 - 12. He called right at 8 and said he'd be here within 30 mins. It turns out it was our ignitor and he had one in the truck. Chris is a total clown! On his second attempt to fix my leaking toilet (after he had been paid for the first visit), he said for these type of "handyman" services, it's no big deal. What? Thought I had hired a plumber! No, he said he fixes toilets a lot. Okay, I'm into this guy for some serious dollars, he had better get it fixed. He had to return for a third time because it was still leaking, he said I needed to replace the whole toilet!! Forget him. I called a real plumber who told me he didn't fix the right gasket the first time and put in a wrong kind the second time. (Funny, he didn't charge me for the second part. Think he knew it was the wrong part?!) He totally did not know what he was doing. I'm going to demand a refund. He tramped in muddy feet and I had to deal with wet towels three times. I also had asked him to fix my dripping shower. Figured it was the valve and that's what he said as well. Well guess what, he put in the wrong valve. Now I can't mix hot and cold. First, let me state by saying that I think Chris is a real good guy. The issue I have with Capitol Mechanical Appliance has nothing to do with work quality or for the charge, rather it was for what he committed to me. I contacted Chris Saturday morning because my refrigerator appeared to not be cooling. He said he had a full day, but would squeeze me in at the end of the day. Being a Saturday, I was already resigned to the fact that if my repair required a part, it would probably be at least Monday before it was fixed. Chris arrived for the appointment late Saturday afternoon, giving me a 1/2 hour heads up as promised. As feared, the fridge did need a part which wasn't stocked on his truck, and he wouldn't be able to pick up until Monday. Knowing the inconvenience of being without a fridge for 48 hours, and the potential for hundreds of dollars in wasted food, Chris assured me that he would be back out Monday afternoon with the part. I arranged with my employer to work from home Monday afternoon. Around 3:30, my wife asked if I had heard anything from Chris. At that point I had not, so I called his cell phone. Chris told me that his day was booked with appointments and that somebody in the office was supposed to have called me to let me know he would not be out. He said that he would put me on the schedule for Tuesday afternoon. I again arranged with my employer to work from home, and told Chris that the earliest I could be there was 3:00 PM. Tuesday afternoon I got home around 3:00 and proceeded to wait. Around 4:45, given my experience the previous day and still not having heard anything from Chris or Capital Mechanical, I called Chris. Chris came across as a little perturbed that I was upset over the fact that it was almost 5 o'clock and I had no idea if he was going to be there or not. He asked why I was concerned when the time I had been quoted was between 3:00 and 7:00. Only problem is that nobody quoted that he could be as late as 7:00. Come to find out again, that somebody in his office was to confirm with me that I was on his schedule and that he should show up before 7:00 pm. So Chris then proceeded to tell me that he was in Dripping Springs (I live in Pflugerville) and was on his way and would be there around 7:00. Chris did arrive around 7:00, spent about a 1/2 hour replacing the part, and everything appears to be working. The overall issue I have with Chris is over committing. I understand as a small business wanting to get as many customers as you can, but if you over commit you risk the chance of ticking somebody off and not getting a good review. It also appears that Chris has a back office issue where customers are not being properly notified, and I'm not sure why a company based in Georgetown is doing service calls in Dripping Springs. I would be willing to use Chris again, but I hope he at least addresses the back office communication issues. read more

When our French-Door Samsung refrigerator started flooding the kitchen floor we shut off the water and set up an appointment with Capitol Mechanical Appliance in Georgetown. The day of the appointment we waited out the entire four-hour service window without seeing their service person. Chris called us about 45 minutes after the window had closed and said that he was running late but had another appointment and should be able to come by eventually. When Chris arrived 2-1/2 hours late he just asked what was wrong, 'diagnosed' the problem without even opening the refrigerator doors, and told me the part that was needed would cost around $190. He said it might not be in stock locally and if not would have to be ordered. I signed the repair order and he left. He called the next day and said that the part had to be ordered and might take 'several weeks.' I said no problem, I needed the fridge fixed. I'm a very patient man, maybe too patient, but when I had not heard from Capital after EIGHT WEEKS I contacted them via their web email form. After two weeks with no response, TEN WEEKS after the first service visit, I called the number that Chris had called me from. When he answered he seemed quite perturbed and said that he was out to dinner and would call me back the next day. I told him to use my cell number for any future contact. Chris did call me the next day (a Saturday) and said that he sorta remembered me but that our file wouldn't open. No idea why he couldn't look up the paper repair order that I signed. He asked my name and phone number and said that he would check with the parts supplier to see if the part had come in yet. He said the supplier used the name and phone as the order reference. When Chris called back, he said that apparently the part came in, he picked it up and carried it around in his truck for a week (his words), and then returned it to the supplier. Why he would do that rather than complete the repair is beyond me. The reference used by the supplier told him who it was for and gave him our phone number. Chris said nothing like this had ever ever happened in their 17 years in business and he was really sorry. He said that he would call me Monday evening (no idea why evening, but that's what he wanted) to arrange a time to install the part. You guessed it, he didn't call me Monday. He didn't call me Tuesday. He did finally call Wednesday morning and left a recorded message saying that he had a service call in our area that morning and could stop by right after that (how convenient for him). Unfortunately, he left this message on the wrong phone and I didn't get it until sometime after noon. I called him back and he said he would come do the repair the next afternoon (Thursday). We didn't see Chris Thursday, or Friday, or any day the following week. In fact, we are still waiting for him to call. How in the world can a company stay in business if this is how they treat a new customer? Our house is full of appliances (naturally), and some of them will also break down in due time. That's more potential repair jobs that he's blown off by blowing us off so thoroughly on our first repair call. I gave him/them more opportunities to finish the job and earn my good will and future business then anyone should ever get, but apparently they aren't interested. Chris replaced the motor in my dryer and I am very happy with it. You can count on his knowledge and reliability. He is a pro.

Our GE Refrigerator went out for the second time in about 3 mo. Got in touch with Chris through "Home Advisor". It was 3PM on a Fri. I didn't really figure I'd be able to get anyone out before the coming Mon. After contacting Chris. He was at another customers home about 20 mi away. Chris told me to send him my ID and location information and he'd try to get out ASAP. About 30 min later I get a text from him that he was on his way. Wow! Anyway, Chris inspected our refrigerator and determined, and proceeded to show me, that the system was literally frozen up and inoperable. Unable to do much more than his initial assessment until the unit was defrosted. He said we needed to unplug and let it defrost entirely for at least 24 hrs. So we did. Said he would return Monday around noon. Fast forward to Monday at noon and he shows up as promised. After getting into the guts of the unit he determines that the fan is inoperable frozen up due to bad bearings. Needs a new fan. After making several calls he is able to locate a new fan. Apparently they aren't making them anymore so we were in luck. He went to the other side of town got the fan and returned in about 40 min. He installed the fan, reinstalled all he had taken apart and had it up and running in about 40 min. He charged us what I felt was a fair price, especially when the alternative was to have to spend $2-$3K for a new unit and that was if there was anything available. We get a 1 yr warranty on parts and 30 days on labor. Seems that COVID caused a run on refrigerators and if we were going to have to buy a new one it would probably be 3-6 wks until we could get one delivered. Bottom line is I would recommend to anyone that needs work on their refrigerator/freezer, contact Chris at Capitol Mechanical Appliance. Chris is very customer service oriented and is a pleasure to work with. He produced as promised in a very timely manner. He is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated in the performance of his work.
