Serviceman said we'd needed every bulb replaced - 9 (to be ordered), plus labor and total cost = $495.00. My husband asked about sr. Discount - $50 less, subtract $75 = $370. My husband said he'd think about it and paid the service call. Called the company he intended to call, $65 for service call. Guy said he saw flickering in some lights, only needed to replace 1 bulb to be ordered. Today all was completed in 5 minutes for a total cost of $179. Overall $244 (includes service charge). We'll stick with the second company. Clearly ERA diagnosis a moneymaker.

We have a 5+ year-old LG gas stovetop that has 5 knobs that were in various states of failure. We had gone to the LG parts website and called them directly as well for replacements, since we had no idea how to change them ourselves. It turned out that only 2 of the 5 were in stock, costing approximately $55/each! When we spoke with Abel, who was very busy working on a refrigerator repair took the time to inform us that these types of parts are easily sourced on sites like Amazon.com and that if we were unable to find the replacements, he would be more than happy to help us. Indeed, we were able to see that there are many non-OEM parts available for a fraction of the OEM cost, and ultimately, we spent about $25, including tax, which solved our problem. He had two repair options; he could replace only the parts that were causing the issue, or replace the entire pulley/wheel system with a kit (forgive me if that's not the correct verbiage. It was nice that they send a link to track the technician but I don't think it was working. Good thing Steve called ahead and informed me he was due to arrive in 30 minutes. He arrived along time and quickly diagnosed the problem. It was a bad compressor which required about a two order window. Steve was very professional and advised to contact the manufacturer to see if it was under warranty. After contacting the manufacturer it was still under warranty but they require a service technician in their network to come out and diagnosed which would cost $145 and then they would order the parts. So glad JEA's service call was $50. Otherwise, I would have used JEA to continue the repair but it would cost me over $900.

All of my communication with "Henry" before the appointment was through text only, and I genuinely do not remember the $60 fee ever being directly communicated to me in our messages. The technician later stated that the fee was clearly listed when I booked. However, I never logged into the "Thumbtack app" nor I was prompted to do so, it actually states I can continue to message through text. When I questioned the charge, the technician told me he could not leave my property until I paid the $60, which made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. What concerned me even more was when I asked the technician which company he was with, he told me "ACE." I specifically asked if he meant ACE in Hacienda Heights, which is a completely different company, and he said yes. It wasn't until afterward that I discovered the actual company name through Thumbtack. After this happened, I had to create an account to see the actual company name and the full pricing information, including the $60 fee. I understand service fees are common, but I believe they should be clearly communicated upfront, especially when communication is being handled through text. Customers should also be given accurate information about who is providing the service. Overall, the lack of transparency and the way the situation was handled left me feeling misled and uncomfortable.
