    Commador combo!

The sea/pirate theme is so cool here. There's a Jack Sparrow in the entry that definitely sold this place for me. We had the hush puppies, mozzarella sticks, and Commador combo. Three of us split and we had a ton for left overs. The medium wasn't very spicy at all, so I would go hotter in the future. Our server was super busy, but still managed to get me like 10 refills! Very attentive!

I've only ordered take out from here, and it's consistently fantastic! It's packed very well, with bibs and gloves included. Prices are comparable to all seafood, yes, it's pricey, but sooooo good! My first time there, I ordered the the First Mate's platter for $78 18. It came with crab, lobster, mussel, corn cob and new potatoes. I ordered it with garlic sauce. It was the bomb! The platter was good for 2 people for 1 meal, then for the left over, with the excellent sauce and seafood that was left, I added pasta and made Seafood Spaghetti! The 2nd time I went, I ordered 1/2 pound of crab for around $17.00, again with garlic sauce just right for 2 people. What a gem to have this establishment in Brooklyn Center. LOVE!

5 Stars! So delicious! The bang bang flavor is packed with flavor and just the right amount of kick. We usually order medium heat -- it's perfect for enjoying all the flavor without overwhelming spice. For the extra-spicy version, we always get it on the side so we can dip as needed. Everything is always fresh, crispy, and seasoned perfectly. Definitely one of our go-to favorites!

The kiddos wanted seafood boil and have heard so many of their friends eating at Captain crab. We used to dine there often when we lived in Minneapolis. Restaurant is still the same, decorated with fish nets and toy fish, crab, oyster on the walls and ceiling. Service was great, we knew what we wanted. Commander platter for the kids who don't eat spicy and captain platter for the group that eats spicy. The boom boom easoning is good, you can ask for dipping sauce as well and pick a spice level. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

So delicious . Went there during lent for the first time. I will definitely be back!

Atmosphere was beautiful. My favorite part of the place is that a flower pathway is made for you while walking to your table. Also the other decor at the front or the door when you enter, like the bar and sitting pirate photo area. Service was amazing. Shout out to BIG Kevin for being our server and assisting with us with everything. He was always there when anything was needed and checked up to make sure everything was tasty. The Steam Oyster was delicious! I still had that ocean taste which is my liking, mix along with their home sauce. First Mate's platter, was enough for just us two! I honestly thought it wasn't enough, but man oh man was I full! It was a tad bit saltier than usual, but with a side of fries. I was about to balance it out as the fries wasn't too season and fresh from the fryer. Definitely a spot to go back to when you're in town, don't miss out! I also got a side of their Fire sauce and the heat was manageable. Next time I'll have to get it hotter!

Description of our food and note about allergy

We ordered three po boy sandwiches on New Years Eve (two shrimp and one oyster) and my husband has a severe sesame allergy. Normally seafood has no sesame in it but I figured if I put sesame allergy on the order it would be fine. Well, it wasn't. He had a very bad reaction and had to take three epi pens and we had to call 911. Now sometimes people don't know that things like tahini or mole has sesame in it so maybe that was the problem? But be careful with food allergies and new restaurants. Anyway, before the reaction the food was delicious so if you have no allergies then you should be good to go.

Went here to get my first ever seafood boil in a restaurant while my husband was in the cities for a work trip, the experience was good until it wasn't. I only ate 1/4 of my $70 boil, I wasn't very hungry and it was a LOT of food, so I took the rest home so I could eat it for lunch the next day. They took my food in the BACK to package up for me. It wasn't until the next day after I drove an hour away to visit my sister who lives in a neighboring town, when I reheated my food and started EATING it that I realized they gave me somebody ELSES food. Somebody else's food that their hands were in, a half eaten corn on the cob. I mean it's a seafood boil that you suck on the food while eating. Called and complained and demanded a refund or for them to remake it, I was willing to drive back and pick it up but they made me call back 3 times with no answer or solution. My husband went in there and they tried telling him that they could only offer 30% off our next order. We explained we didn't live in the cities and wouldn't be back to their restaurant after this and they only offered him $20 for a refund. Our total bill was over $100. Not to mention, they told us that the persons food that they gave me ALSO called and complained. And from what I could see, the food they gave me was an order over $200 with king crab, scallops, lobster, sausage, allll the works. I'm still upset almost a week later. You can't make this stuff up. If they would've remade it for me or given me a full refund, there would be no review. But this kind of mistake cannot happen when you're serving seafood boils. People dig in them, indulge in the food, slurp on the sauce and suck on the shell fish. I was absolutely disgusted and haven't had an appetite since. Here's a photo of when the food came out because I was so excited to experience this for the first time in a restaurant, I've always made my own at home but where I live you can't get seafood boils like this let alone the good ingredients to make it. $70 for a boil might not seem like a lot of money to some people, but my husband and I do not dine out like this. We are the cook at home type of people and this was just really disappointing and terrible customer service. Also, the garlic butter flavor isn't very good. It tastes more oily than butter and the garlic tasted a little fake or chemically for some reason. But the seafood itself was perfectly cooked and delicious.

    The Commander's Platter

Food was delicious! Our server, Kevin, was very helpful in deciding what to order. We will be back! Commander Platter was more than enough for 2 people!

It took forever (close to 40 minutes) to get our food even with only us and one other party there at the time we ordered. I had the smoked salmon salad. There was no Parmesan or shaved asparagus which was part of the description on the menu, just lettuce (which was fresh) and crumbled smoked salmon, some kind of nuts and really chewy candied orange. My friend ordered the steak medium well. It came out medium rare so she sent it back and they returned it well done so it was inedible (but she brought it home for her dog). The online menu said that two sides were included with the $42 steak but they charged her for the two sides she ordered. We decided it wasn't worth disputing. I think this place has potential but we left disappointed.

I finally made it over around lunch time and apologized in advance because I wanted to "taste test" a variety of different items. The gentleman who was helping me was super patient and just overall thrilled to have me wanting to try so many things so this was my spread & reactions: 1. Turkey jerky - very interesting compared to others I've had, a bit too salty for my liking but my husband said it was in his top 2 and is a turkey jerky fiend so I'd take his word over mine 2. Normal jerky - a little thinner than I prefer but really great flavor, easy to chew without being too soft nor hard like leather. It's in MY top two for sure! 3. Beef stick & cheese beef stick - these were both really good! The butcher helping me recommended trying the cheese because it's his personal favorite but I actually thought the normal beef was actually better! 4. Smoked salmon - this was actually my favorite of all the different snacks we tried, it was smoked really well that brought out the natural flavors of the fish. It wasn't dry or crumbled, but kept its own and easily was devoured without any morsel left behind! Although I didn't try anything from the freezers, they had such a huge variety we just have to come back again soon! Thanks for the great service and hospitality while I took forever to explore!

I passed by this spot on the north side a number of times and figured that I'd check it out. The first thing that you notice is that this definitely isn't a Jamaican spot. It's an inner city fish/chicken spot that just happens to serve jerk chicken. I was cool with that still and opted for the jerk chicken and rice bowl, extra spicy ($8). The bowl was filled with jerk chicken. It didn't have much gravy on there and the meat was crazy salty (coming from someone who LOVES salt to a fault). However, it still tasted crazy good. What was quite odd about the dish is that they put giardiniera in the dish (albeit grilled). The taste and crunch was definitely a nice addition, but certainly not what one would expect out of a jerk chicken dish (especially if you are Jamaican). As a whole, very solid, but just different. If your expectations are for rice and peas, cabbage, plantains, etc, this ain't the spot. However, if you want a bowl filled with jerk chicken for super cheap, it's worth a shot.
