The food is great! Large portions and lots of flavor. Servers are a bit unprofessional and inattentive. Ours avoided eye contact to not have to serve us. We would ask for utensils as a group of three and kept getting only 1 or 2. We had to share our slicer because for 30 minutes we only had 1. I also recall being given a table next to the bathroom when we originally were sat. I think it was because we are young and in our twenties. Since the service at captain crab is a hit or miss when dining in, we usually get our order to go. Captain crab has been on our rotation for places to get keto friendly meals whenever my fiancé and I are back on it. Their seafood boil (minus the corn & potato) is perfect for our macros bc of the buttery goodness they toss it in, along with their spices. We usually get a pound of head on shrimp, a pound of green mussels and a pound of sausage in the captain crab special sauce. We occasionally splurge on crab legs when prices are better, but our usual order is perfect for 2 people to share. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with the nautical theme associated with seafood boil places. They have long tables and private sections perfect for big groups. Keto or not, we'll continue to come back to captain crab for shareable seafood boils. read more

As a repeat customer, of both Lunch and Dinner times at Capt Crabs off Arden, I know how the delicious bagged seafood Lunches are served. While enjoying my Birthday Lunch, on December 30th, I asked the Waitress if I could have a combination of Seafoods for my Lunch. On previous Lunchtime visits, I was able to order my bagged Lunch entree as a combination, however, it was not listed as an Entree, I thought so I specifically asked. Waitress said, absolutely, choose your selections. I chose shrimp and the 2 offerings of clams. I thought a Combo might be extra, but she did not mention that. It was fine with me if there was an upcharge, so we just went about our lunch. We were a table of four, and when the food came, I noticed my lunch was considerably larger. So, I again asked if this was the lunch order and Waitress said yes. When the Check came, we were billed for 3 separate lunches for the Combination I ordered. Come on. I'm a 66 year old woman with my family. I specifically asked for a Lunch order. Not THREE Lunches. This wasn't a misunderstanding. Even had I wanted THREE lunches, shouldn't I be presented with THREE.. and Not 3 lunches mashed in to one bag and charged for 3 seperate. That makes No Sense in any idea of having 3 seperate Lunches. Had they really wanted to give me 3 lunches. There should have been three lunches with all the food items that comes along with a lunch for each lunch order. That was not the case. I was given one bag of food and charged for 3 separate orders, entrees. Mind you, had I been given that information I would not have ordered 3 Lunches smashed in to one bag. I would have made a different choice that wasn't wasteful and unwanted. I advised the Waitress who THEN explained that when Combos are ordered, they are Not Combinations, they are separate Lunches. That is not anywhere near what I ordered. I in no way ordered 3 Lunches. She didn't bother to tell me that at the time I ordered my singular Lunch to enjoy with my family.. I explained to her I only wanted one order of a Combination of Seafoods, not 3 orders of full entrees packed in one bag. She gave no mind to the situation. It is what it is, and it was what it was. My son in law ordered a Craw sandwich. Would they have smashed 3 sandwiches together had he wanted some shrimp and clams on it...? Maybe they would have.... at the way this was handled.. I then brought the matter up at the Exit Counter to the Brunette woman working the Register. She told me that "this wasn't a buffet" along with a very disrespectful response, while in front of other customers waiting to Leave. This was my 66th surprise Birthday Lunch with my family. I'm not one to sit and argue when Customer Service is so rude, and belligerent. Basically the check was a wash. This was clearly not a misunderstanding, but a deliberate way to overcharge a lady at lunchtime who might just have not noticed. She slammed the drawer of something as I had already turneD my back no doubt annoyed the Tip was ZERO on a 104$ bill. I was actually going to tip the Waitress but even my daughter was sad at how I was treated so I decided ZERO was appropriate for the entire Experience. Asking for Lunch that was a Combination was certainly not asking for 3 separate lunches. Buyer Beware. This last visit and Last Visit, definitely had a different vibe from my other visits. Employee training is key to good Customer Retention. Having been part of a food service team in my younger years, I treat Staff very well and can't even remember when I've sent anything back. Kindness to Customers, especially on an Event, will bring people back and Word of Mouth is the Best advertising. Capt Crab off Arden won't last much longer.. only a few Customers trickling in on that day and sadly, by much of the other Feedback, we can see why. I will continue to share my Experience and Report this kind of Overcharging of unsuspecting Honest Customers. Who knows what other tactics are being used. read more

This was a delightful discovery. We took the whole family here, and the food was outstanding. I had a pound of mussels, my spouse had a pound of shrimp, and my mother and older child each had clams (her a pound, him two(!)). The medium spicy sauce was perfect for mopping up with potatoes and hush puppies. The service was friendly and efficient. My only minor complaint is that they only serve coffee at lunch. I was craving seafood so I made a stop here. I placed an order online which had a 10% discount if you pick up. SCORE. I got a pound of clams, 1/2 a pound of Manila clams and green mussels. When I got there the cashier checked on my order to see if it was ready. When she came back it was going to take a few more minutes. The restaurant ambiance was cool. They had different types of sea creatures on the ceilings net and/or the wall. When I got home and unpacked my order. Each seafood was in separate bags and very easy to open. My favorite crab boil place! I've tried other places, but this one is the best! I "make my own boil" and choose my seafood and extra ingredients. You can add whatever you like. I go with with captains special seasoning (ALWAYS) it's Cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper. You can order extra sauce on the side, too! My husband and I have been eyeing Captain Crab for a while and finally decided to dine in -- and we're so glad we did! Marcelino was a great server. We let him know it was our first time, and he kindly went over the pricing and recommended some great options from the menu. Total disaster, 1) The food will come in plastic bag submerged in sauce. You are supposed to eat it with your hands (they provide you with those oversized clear plastic gloves). For someone who grew up in Europe, where they teach you table etiquette from childhood, this concept alone is repulsive. 2) The crab legs were so thin, there was barely any edible meat in it. We usually get the food to go but decided to get dressed up and dine in. Got there, expected a wait list which is cool, waited 15mins to get in, sat us, AND WAITED ANOTHER 25 minutes for someone to never even table touch! My wife got up and asked the hostess what is going on she said the server was coming if she hadn't already? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Yeah, fuck these guys. My two kids who are 6 and 3 sat and waited so patiently and excitedly for their food. After waiting another 10minutes after the host said that it was time to go. What's crazy is we headed to DOCO got on a waitlist for YH got seated, greeted, and served in almost the same time it took these guys to GREET US. Ran up a $200 bill and tipped our waiter RIGHT! As we always do when the service is on par. I can't stand all the money that gets poured into Arden. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is complete shit out there. read more

Captain Crab has yet to dissappoint me, I've visited about five times now since this location opened. I love a good Boil and it's consistently good and affordable here. On my most recent visit I got the lunch special, 3/4 lb shrimp (no head) with extra potatoes, corn and bread. I always go with the Captain's Special sauce (garlic butter, cajun and lemon pepper combined). About $24 with the add-ons. Enough food for two and plenty of leftovers. I went with Medium heat this time and wish I had went with Mild instead. It wasn't incredibly spicy but there were some pieces that were surprising spice in the face. There is a $5 off $30+ discount when you check-in on Yelp. Nice! The service is always quick and friendly. They check on you throughout to refill water and make sure you are satisfied. The ambiance is (obviously) sea themed, lots of fish nets and sea creatures abound. Very fun and cute. There is even a full sized Pirate statue in the entrance. Great place to eat at a reasonable price with kids and family. I saw they have a new Happy Hour now, the crawfish poppers caught my eye. The HH drink prices are crazy low.
