Was a little shocked at the $35 price but figured if the food was good it would be worth it. WRONG!! Nothing any of us had on our plates was good. It was the exact opposite of good. I would never ever eat here again. Only reason I went was because my date for the weekend and his friends insisted we went. I would NEVER eat seafood here and I avoided all the mystery fried fish they had in the buffet. My friends didn't seem to mind the quality of the seafood but there was pieces of actual shell inside the oysters and it was nearly impossible to get meat out of the crab legs. This was about $7 more ($43) than the other seafood buffet $39) This location had a huge quantity of food, however the quality lacked severely from our visit the previous day to another buffet. Went here for dinner with 6 adults and a 2 year old. We all purchased the buffet. The server cleared our plates and glasses timely and the food was good for a buffet. Priced a little high but that's on par with the area and what others charge. I work as a server myself and bust tail for my money. We had three separate checks. They added %15 gratuity to the already over priced buffet and that really struck a nerve. The server kept our drinks filled and took away our plates. She made $42 off our party. Which is a ridiculous high tip for a buffet. This alone will make it so I don't recommend nor visit this location. First off the service at this place was some of the worst I have ever experienced. I should not have to ask 3 times in order to get refills on drinks. The food was sub par buffet food not worth the price you pay. ($175 for 5 adults and 2 five year olds.) The prime rib was the highlight of my meal. It was so so. The salad was warm. The dressing for the salad was placed behind salad selections so if you are not careful it spilled all over what was in front of it. The rest of the food was warm at best. You could tell that it had been sitting out for a while. The smell of the old sea food sitting out was enough to make you sick. Please choose another place to eat. This is the 1st time I have left an all you can eat buffet hungry. Captain Jack's Buffet is by far the worst meal I've ever had..... and this is based on the little I chose to eat. Let me 1st say that the Myrtle Beach Bucks Free coupon book lists an incorrect address for Captain Jack's. My husband my sister and I had intentions of catching a comedy show this evening took us an hour out of the way. When I called Captain Jack's to find out where they were located it was clear that they were well aware that the address was wrong. As a result we arrived at the restaurant an hour before closing time. I started with the crab legs which were dry and cold. I then tried the stuffed lobster which was overcooked and stuffed full of bread crumbs, with very little lobster meat, just a tail shell and bread crumbs. The she crab soup was warm but it was so salty that I felt my blood pressure begin to rise. The steamed shrimp was chewy and the green salad was wilted. My family were equally disappointed and left hungry. Needless to say there was no way I could tell the waitress that I was satisfied with my meal.. She asked if I wanted to see the manager which initially I said no but finally relented based upon her insistence. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the food and also the hour we were taken out of the way due to the wrong address in the coupon booklet. He knew about the address issue also. The manager was cordial and said that he was disappointed that we were not happy with the meal. He seemed to express understanding that the buffet food was cold and had been sitting for a long time. He insisted that we come back and visit him again before we left town. I was truly under the impression that he would discount the meal in some way. When we received the bill it was a $150. We might have eaten $20 worth of food. I did leave the waitress at 10% tip because it wasn't her fault. A good manager would have understood that this was not the proper way to handle an unhappy customer due to the poor condition of the food. My husband, kids, and I ate at Captain Jack's while on vacation last week. and it was excellent! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. You couldn't ask for better service. The food was great! Between all of us, we ate several different items and everything we had was very good. Everything seemed to be the right temperature that we ate. I have seen some other reviews of people complaining about the prices, but it wasn't a bad price when you consider what the seafood items would cost you off the menu at any other restaurant. We had a wonderful experience dining at Captain Jack's. We came for the all you can eat king crab legs (which did not disappoint) but we were happy to also find that the prime rib was delicious as well! The service was excellent - from the personal greetings at the front door to the friendly and attentive wait staff who were always there to fill up our drinks and clear our plates so we could dig in to the next round.
