Captains Galley. Clam strips and fries what left.
    Sue T.

I only upped it to 3 bc. Strawberry daiquiri slushie was good. They were out of the. The stuffed sole dinner at 3:20 pm? Only had fish sandwich. We ordered appetizer of scallops. No salt or pepper and no lemon. The clam strip basket was bad. Fries were way way over salted. The clam strips were tough and chewing. The cheeseburger and onion rings were good. Would not come back to eat.

Some cold fries and some cold fried clams.

I have no idea how I randomly ended up in Olcott, but I did, and thanks to this place being pretty close to Lake Ontario I figured it would be a good spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the view. My trip to Captain's Galley was kind of a weird one. The patio was open thanks to the good weather and there was only a couple of other people at the restaurant Saturday night when we were seated. The tables were pretty dirty but that sometimes does happen when it's plastic and outside so I can look past that. The menu is pretty basic for the type of seafood/burgers menu they have and has plenty of different options to chose from. I ended up ordering the fried clams basket with french fries. What is my issue with the Captain's Galley you ask? well, after reading some of the other reviews it seems to same problem most other people also had. My fried clams were cold, my french fries were cold, and on top of that, my girlfriend french onion burger was somehow also cold. The food didn't take all that long to make, so I'm very very confused how both meals manage to come out at the same time, at/or below room temperature. Not a single thing on my plate tasted like it was cooked in the last 20 minutes. My girlfriends food at least had warm bread, however the french onion soup on the bottom, the fries, and the meat itself were all luke warm. Overall, this place had a friendly staff, and that was pretty much the only thing other then it's location it had going for it. I can get over dirty tables outside, but I can't look past 2 cold meals being served especially when it seems to be a reoccurring problem for this place. I can definitely say I won't be returning here in the future.

Terrible food, worse service. Management doesn't care about the place, clearly. Floors, bathrooms and kitchen are a biohazard.

Good food at a reasonable price. A little more organization and experience from the waitstaff would be helpful. Overall a good experience.

My son devoured the entirety of his fish and chips, and it was a huge fillet. I had golden beer battered shrimp. The shrimp was plump and perfectly cooked. The batter is light and tasty. No honey mustard if that's what you like for your salad (fries for me). My son and husband really liked the Carolina gold sauce the kitchen recommended as an alternative. It's good and has a similar tang, just not for me. The ranch was solid. They have a limited beer and wine selection. We didn't notice they had a bar for mixed drinks until after the fact. The menu says they will offer local wines soon, which I like to see (and prefer to order) at local establishments. Service was excellent. The restaurant is bright and open with a subtle blue nautical theme. Comfortable booths. We'll be back.

We were quickly seated at our table, and water glasses topped off. Shortly thereafter our waitress took our orders. We began with deep fried Calamari appetizer-cooked golden brown and chewy. We had New England Clam Chowder-creamy and full of clams, followed by our tossed green salads. My boyfriend ordered 1/2 duck dinner with mixed veggies(summer squash, zucchini, with red & yellow bell peppers grilled perfectly. I was surprised to see I haven't written a review but I always have a good experience here! For my mom's birthday, she wanted to grab a beer flight and dinner at Live Edge Brewing. We arrived on a Saturday around 4:45pm and took a parking spot close to the entrance. They have a good-size parking lot so no concerns about finding a space. We walked in and saw the "wait to be seated" sign and soon afterward, a young woman came over and asked how many in our party and where we'd like to sit. The three of us decided to sit on their back patio. We picked a table and our waitress soon followed with drink/food menus. All of the tables outside had umbrellas to help shield from the sun, which on this Saturday was out but the temperature was perfect and there was a slight breeze to cool it down a little. The one oddity we had was that our drink menus didn't match as my menu had more taps listed compared to the others I was sitting with, so I ended up getting a drink in my flight they never saw. I slight hiccup but honestly, you can't be too upset with a drink in your hand! Our waitress was young and incredibly personable, friendly, accommodating, answering all our questions about the food and customizing our orders how we wanted them. We might have let it slip that it was my mom's birthday - Our waitress brought her a birthday cake shot to celebrate, which she loved! Our waitress let us take our time sampling our beer flights before placing our food orders. The wait time for our food was very reasonable, maybe 10-15 minutes, I can't remember as we were having too good a time chatting and sipping. For dinner, I ordered their Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy, which is a hand-breaded toaster-oven-baked chicken breast topped with provolone cheese, pickles, and their Nashville hot sauce between a brioche bun and served with a side of tater tots (a small upcharge from their default chips). The sandwich was delicious! Now, for you spice lovers, I didn't find this sandwich very spicy, it was more about the flavor, the tang of the sauce. I didn't mind it not being that spicy, the flavor was excellent! The pickles were thick and had a nice crisp to them and the provolone cheese paired so well with it all. The tater tots were fried perfectly with a crispier exterior but hot, pillowy-soft interior - For the small upcharge, ~$3.00, they were worth it. The portion sizes were perfect as I was perfectly full, I wasn't uncomfortable. The price of my meal was reasonable as well, especially seeing how everything's costing more in 2026. Live Edge Brewing is not only a family favorite but for me, it's a hidden gem. The friendly, laid back, yet still attentive service and country atmosphere have us continuing to come back each New Year's Eve, and now, this could become a new birthday tradition!

We sat at the bar and ordered two pints - one was an Irish cherry and the other was an Irish stout . The stout had a lot of foam so she gave us a bit extra in a sample glass as well . We also ordered the taproom Chips, which were like an order of nachos but with a beer cheese - for $10 it was a decent portion and the perfect snack to accompany our beer . Occasionally they have entertainment, but not that afternoon . It was a nice stop and I would consider coming again if in the area .

When I walked in the waitress looked at me and didn't say anything, so I said "table for one" and she said "you can sit there" and gestured to the table I was standing besides. If this is a type of place that seats yourself, there should be a clear sign saying so. I sat down and she got me a menu. She came back with my drink and I told her I know what I want and she held up a finger for me to wait and said it'll be a few minutes. There was one other group there with me and maybe a couple other tables already sat. If the waitress can't handle the amount of tables there, please hire more staff. She took my order without asking how I wanted my burger done but it didn't take too long for my food, maybe ten minutes. She handed it to me with no napkins (burger and fries is a messy meal) and no Greek sauce to go with the Greek burger. She got me them when I asked. The dirty bathroom with no paper towels was a cherry on top of disappointing service. The food was amazing but the service and environment didn't match it. My suggestions: a sign that says "please seat yourself", more staff or training of current staff and more upkeep on customer spaces

No. Apparently I enjoy making poor decisions and living with the consequences. So I cannot officially confirm that they taste as good as they looked, but they were putting on a pretty convincing performance from across the room. The patio is great, and the fireplace seating areas is even better. Very comfortable, very relaxing, and an excellent place to sit while wondering if ordering another drink counts as dinner.
