How beautiful is this restaurant. I'm in awe ... from the moment I walked in I couldn't stop looking around. So much detail into everything. The colors, the decor, the plates, the lamps etc.... We had reservations at 6:30 and we were seated right away. We choose indoor seating cause it's soooo beautiful. The vibe here is sophisticated yet lively. Customer service is the best here. Our waiter Robert was so welcoming, friendly and attentive to us. He explained the menu and drink options so well We ordered a few things to share and let me tell you my husband and I enjoyed every dish we ordered. First of all they serve you breadstick, individual focaccias and two kind of dips once you are seated. So so good. Then we ordered the oysters which were so fresh and delicious. The calamari was amazing ... the Caesar salad was made in front of us from scratch. The dressing tasted amazing. We also shared a ribeye steak and stuffed shrimp pasta The dessert was heavenly. First of all - People that were seated after us got a breadbasket dropped and we did not. Probably because we were a two top. We waited 30 minutes for someone to come by and had to flag people down. Second - they do not accommodate food allergies, and I was treated like an afterthought. They have red sauce and they have cream sauce, but they would not make me a pink sauce. The dish I wanted to order was a pink sauce, but spicy which I could not have due to my allergy. The management, the staff, and the Chef did not seem to care so of course, we left. Vegas is a food capital and I highly doubt I am the only one to come in with a food allergy - their accommodation solution was to offer me a butter sauce which I did not want. They had the ingredients to offer a real solution that would not have been difficult. They just want to turn tables and collect the money. read more

This was our first time trying Carbone Riviera after having visited the original Carbone several times. This is a tough place to get a reservation, but we managed to find one. We arrived on time and proceeded to wait about 20 minutes for the table without any updates. This seemed really inexcusable for a restaurant of this caliber. There is virtually nowhere to wait near the hostess stand which was quite awkward. We eventually were seated in a large booth in the bar area. It was comfortable but not very private as anyone entering or leaving the restaurant would pass through this area. The idea that you must spend $175 per person to sit outside to see the fountains seems like an absurd money grab. Since it was a hot night, we didn't even consider this and were happy to sit inside. Our server was honestly just OK. He was friendly enough but honestly seemed a tiny bit annoyed with us at times. When one of our dining party was asking about the two types of potatoes and wondering which one was crispy, he replied, "they're both crispy!" There were also times that dirty plates sat on the table for quite some time and water glasses remained empty. I enjoyed the strawberry pomodoro cocktail which was ice cold and flavorful and well-balanced. We each received exactly one piece of freshly made focaccia bread, and there was never an offer for a second piece. We had the calamari appetizer as well as the tableside Caesar salad. I really enjoyed the calamari which was amazingly tender and not rubbery at all. The Caesar was quite good as well with an authentic dressing, but it was not quite to the caliber of the famous Golden Steer tableside Caesar. For example, the croutons are gigantic and unwieldy to eat. Also, after making the salad the staff just placed in on the table in a large bowl rather than portioning out a serving for each guest. We had the rock shrimp ravioli for the pasta course. I enjoyed this as well as the flavor was wonderful, and the pasta perfectly prepared. I had the salmon oreganata entree as well as the Dogona potatoes. Both were very good. The salmon was a surprisingly generous portion and was well prepared and flavorful and fork tender. The potatoes were a wonderful combination of crispy and tender with a great and fragrant flavor of olive oil and rosemary. Save room for dessert! They have a nice dessert cart with four selections. I went for the tiramisu which was honestly just "OK" and frankly underwhelmed. I was a little disappointed they did not have a showstopper tableside dessert choice like Golden Steer or Barry's Downtown Prime (e.g., cherries jubilee, bananas foster, baked Alaska, or something similar that would fit the Carbone Riviera menu while still being an impressive presentation). One of our dining companions had the pistachio cake which I tasted and enjoyed much more than the tiramisu. I wanted a reliable pasta dinner and since I haven't tried the newer location of Carbone, this seemed like the obvious choice. Carbone Riviera seems to be focused more on seafood offerings, however they still offer the dishes that Carbone is known for (Spicy Rigatoni Vodka being one of them.) The main draw seems to be the outdoor dining area, but this does come with a minimum of $175. Unsure if this is for both the patio (red/white striped chairs), deck (white Riva chairs, no tablecloths) or both but just be aware. Arriving at reservation time, the bar seats about 9 or so people. This seemed to fill up rather quickly and is first come first serve so even if you have a reservation, it didn't make a difference (more on this later). Female bartender was nice and prompt for the most part but understandably it can get overwhelmingly busy since she is serving the bar area as well as providing drinks for the rest of the restaurant. Already aware of what I wanted, I let her know as soon as I was offered the bread service (btw, this is different here than at the Carbone's elsewhere; the sesame sticks, white bean dip with olive oil and basil or pesto was actually better than expected). Pasta as always was reliable and delicious. It took a moment for me to find someone to add parmesan cheese but once I had the attention of another bartender, he loaded it on just how I like it. No dessert ordered, but finished off with my favorite Italian Rainbow Cookies. Restrooms are four individual areas with their own sinks, etc. Someone was back there overseeing them so they're really nice. Dining room was elaborate with the light from outside filtering in but I prefer the dark environment of the Aria Carbone. Sole complaint is that we had a reservation where there were a lot of walk-ins chancing their opportunity at the bar, but they took whoever arrived first to check in when they should honor those who actually had reservations, then accommodated those walk-ins. Our first time sitting on the Riviera Deck was back in November 2025. We went back in June 2026, so I'm back with an update. I had 5pm reservations on Sunday, June 7th. The escalators down to Carbone Riviera were roped off until about 4:55pm. I checked in with the front desk, and was asked to wait on the side. Within a few minutes, we were escorted back to the Riviera Deck. (I will note - in my last review I was impressed that the front desk verified with me twice if the $175/person minimum was okay, and this time no one verified with me. I was already aware of it, so it wasn't a big deal to me). This was a little bit of a different experience than the last time, because in November we had 10pm reservations, so it was very much past sunset. This time, we had 5pm reservations so we were the first to be seated on the deck. (Great for getting photos without bothering anyone who has been seated to eat!) We were greeted by the Captain, and our waiter was Brian assisted by Hector. We also had Aaron stop by our table to introduce himself. All of them made such a fantastic team. They all worked seamlessly and flawlessly. I was really impressed because when we were looking over the menu, I told Brian I was considering the Caesar, calamari, octopus, sea bream, and I was wondering how the ribeye was since they were more known for seafood. He agreed it would be a good choice to balance out all our fish appetizers. To my surprise - Brian completely reiterated everything back to me that I wanted to order and I was shocked because I had said it so casually and I wasn't necessarily ordering. In addition to the food dishes, we also ordered three cocktails ($22/each): Mint Smash, Melon , and an Espresso Martini . Then, of course, I had my sparkling water ($10/person) throughout the meal. Lastly, we ordered tiramisu for dessert. My first stand out dish was 1000% the Sea Bream. I missed out in November because they sold out by my 10pm reservation, so this time I made a 5pm reservation to have a better chance at getting it, and I was ecstatic that I got to try it. Definitely worth going there just for the Sea Bream. My second standout item was the espresso martini. I've never been the biggest fan of espresso martinis, but I heard Carbone Riviera had good ones, so I opted to try. I'm so glad I did because this one tasted so chocolatey and smooth. Without a doubt it is my favorite espresso martini, and dare I say, the only place I'll order one now. Lastly, another stand out dish we had was the tiramisu. I've never seen anything quite like this before. It was like a sponge cake with a light whipped sauce on top. Very tasty! One thing I was really worried about was the 100+ degree weather, sitting on the riviera deck with no fans. However, by 5pm, the whole deck was shaded and mixed with the mist of the fountain show it didn't feel like 100 degrees at all. It was actually quite comfortable! I'd say it felt more like an 85, but they do a great job at constantly refilling your water too to keep you hydrated! Overall- whether you do a 5pm or a 10pm reservation, the food is always phenomenal. I personally enjoyed the vibes of 10pm better just because I felt like the fountain shows looked better in the dark, but I don't know if I'd risk not being able to get that Sea Bream. My tips from my last review still stand - get a reservation, and try to book the riviera deck - you won't regret it! read more

Carbone Riviera sits inside of the beautiful Bellagio Casino along side of the water and fountains. For all of these years, Bellagio has been a magnificent property and remains so, at least on the outside to this day. The restaurant itself both inside and outside is very appealing. So, let's start at the beginning of this rating. When we came for our reservation, we asked if they had any outdoor seating hoping we would get lucky. They came back, and said they did and we were thrilled. That was until they told us it was a minimum spend of $175 per person to sit on the patio instead of indoors. That leaves a couple of impressions. First, that's very odd, second since we agreed to that, you are mandating a bar I need to reach for the 3 of us. In turn, my expectation will raise in kind as it feels like a spend competition instead of a Mother's Day dinner. On a side note our individual server was ok no major complaints. The rest of the staff though? Very casual, definitely not luxury, far from it. As far as the food, from the start, the bread service was kinda cool with some things to play with. The Caesars salad was marginal. Wilted from heat, and the croutons were the best part. The baked clams were pretty good, good flavor and came out hot and fresh. The Veal Milanese was just ok, far better off strip. The branzino was along the same lines, not bad, definitely not top box. The lobster fettuccini was ok as far as the generous lobster with the pasta and sauce kinda in a meh land. Also whose idea is it to give free carnation flowers instead of roses for Mother's Day? That's a funeral flower - please fire that person. The restaurant in general sits in probably the best part of the strip possible. Note to readers: this is the Seafood version of Carbone at Aria. Ambiance: 5/5 This is one of the boujiest restaurants I've been to! The place is so grand, situated at the Bellagio fountains. It's beautiful and just being there is an experience itself. Absolutely loved the ambiance. Service: 10/5 The best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Every single waiter had a smile on their face, genuinely seemed like they were happy to work there and be of service to you. Our waiter, Dragomir, was exceptional. He was very attentive, kind, walked us outside to see the view, and made sure to constantly check up on us. Absolutely amazing service. He even went above and beyond to give my mom a flower, as it was Mother's Day. Food: Caesar Salad - 4/5 - The salad was super fresh and tasty. This was an experience in itself, where the entire mixing of the salad was done in front of us. The chef/waiter (I guess you'd call him?) walked us through each ingredient and then mixed it. It was a great Caesar salad. Rigatoni Vodka - 5/5 - This was the favourite part of our meal. It was so tasty, the perfect balance between cream and tomato, and the spice was a perfect kick. We truly enjoyed every bite and probably would come back just for this. Plus, it was one of the cheaper things on the menu! Veal Chop - 3.5/5 - I had higher expectations of this after the salad and rigatoni, but honestly, it was just ok to me. It felt a little bland, though good quality? I probably went wrong here by not ordering seafood. I'd had seafood at several other places over the last two weeks, so by the time we got to Carbone Riviera, I was honestly a little seafood'd out and decided to order the lamb chops instead. I love lamb chops. Unfortunately, that ended up being a bad choice. I received two lamb chops, and one was literally twice the size of the other because it was almost entirely fat. Not marbled fat -- just huge chunks of fat with tiny pieces of meat on it. I always order my lamb chops medium rare, and having one that fatty cooked medium rare (it was more like rare tbh) honestly just made it extra gross. It really should not have been served. I'm including a picture because the size difference between the two chops was pretty shocking. This was not marbled fat, it was a bad cut that frankly should not have been prepared. Now, to be fair, the atmosphere is beautiful, the service was great, and my husband's entrée was delicious. But this is Vegas. There are way too many amazing restaurants here for something like this to come out of the kitchen and make it to the table. At this level, everything should be outstanding, and this just wasn't. Also, if you're a lamb chop person like I am, but you don't like super fatty lamb chops, I would avoid ordering them here because this was extremely disappointing. It's was bright, airy and nicely decorated. It feels very lovely to be in there with views of the fountains. They specialize in seafood so we had ordered some seafood appetizers, the yellow tail, and lobster meatballs, which were all fantastic, alongside a tomato salad that was both fresh and tasty. Our main dishes were the shrimp parm and spicy rigatoni pasta, which were paired well together. Moving onto the service, this is where it was lacking for me. It didn't feel high end it was slow at times, our plates weren't cleared right away and it was those little items that didn't make it stand out. We dined here the other night for hubby's bday. The ambiance is wonderful-5 stars. Make sure to request an outdoor table to see the fountain display. The service was top-notch. Staff was friendly and attentive. The star of the show for me was the scallops appetizer. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The lobster meatballs were a bit spicy for me, but hubby enjoyed them. The shrimp Luna pasta was amazing! The spicy vodka rigatoni was good, spicy as described but not over the top good. We chose the two pastas versus the lobster fettuccine because we have been eating lobsters the past few days, so we were lobstered out, plus a review here mentioned it was kinda dry, have we skipped on that dish that looked delicious. Got a reservation a month prior to try the latest upscale restaurant on the strip. Located in the Bellagio next to the water and fountains. We were blown away by the interior design, decor and the fountain views. Service was impeccable-- very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Had to try the table-side tossed Cesar Salad and the Broiled Scallops for starters -- both were so delicious. Ordered the Grilled Branzino alla Griglia, Dogana Potatoes, Whole Lobster Fettuccine, and the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni, and everything was so amazing and flavorful. The Pistachio Cannolis Napoleon, was not as tasty as I had hoped, but enough reason for us to go back and try their other desserts. They also have an extensive wine and cocktail menu. I was a little skeptical going in as I know some upscale dining in Vegas can be a bit gimmicky, but the service, ambiance, and quality of food were all excellent. From the nostalgic music to the decor, CR does such a great job of setting the scene for a thoughtful, memorable dining experience. Our party of 6 ordered a variety of apps and mains to share and we loved everything. This Carbone is a bit different from others as its focus is more coastal so the seafood selection is very diverse. We ordered the following: - Lobster Polpette Fra Diavolo - I've never had a seafood meatball before but this was exceptional. So tender, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. - Calamari Fritti - the Calabrian butter this came with was INCREDIBLE. We ordered anything extra to dip the complimentary warm focaccia in - Spicy Rigatoni Vodka - you can't come to Carbone and not order this. It's one of their signature dishes and it's amazing - 2 lb lobster fettuccine - I was worried this wouldn't live up to the hype but it was the best thing I ate all night. The lobster is tender and plentiful and the pasta was perfectly al dente in the most wonderful sauce. I'm still thinking about this dish. - Grilled Salmon Oreganata - I enjoyed this dish, but not as much as the others. The salmon was well cooked and my sister who's a big salmon lover really enjoyed it. - Veal Parm & Shrimp Parm - both super tasty. The veal comes right on the bone sliced tableside and the shrimp was HUGE. These were gobbled up immediately. - 16oz ribeye - I'll say this. Our group enjoyed this steak more than the steakhouses we went to on that trip. An incredible cut of meat, no notes. Our server and staff were so attentive and helpful. You cannot imagine how happy I was to get a text notification that a lakeside table was available for last night. I have been dying to go to Carbone Riviera. It's absolutely beautiful. Stunning. But trying to enjoy the natural beauty isn't easy with all the "influencers" or wannabes endlessly taking photos in front of the fountains. The woman at the table next to us did no less than 3 photo shoots holding various products. It's truly annoying and doesn't add to a relaxing dining experience. The service is no doubt professional, but slow. When you're seated, you are told in no uncertain terms it is a $175 per person minimum (for the Riviera deck) and that you have two hours. But we were eager to leave after 90 minutes and couldn't get a check. The free apps are nice. I prefer the nosh at Carbone to this one, but the focaccia is nice. We started with a shared Caesar salad, but the tableside presentation isn't as great when you can't see it, and there are too many tables right up front for them to navigate. It's still a damn good salad, probably the best Caesar on the strip. My partner ordered the 8 oz filet. Ordered medium rare, it arrived closer to medium well and was covered in an overpowering vinegar sauce. We ordered a side of potatoes but they didn't come. But they did take them off the bill when we pointed it out. And the famous 2-pound lobster fettuccine was not really described that well... it's a very spicy dish and we weren't expecting that. The lobster was sweet and delicious, but would have been a lot better with a more subtle sauce. The Pistachio Cannoli Napolean was a big slice of cake with almost no discernible flavor. Not bad though. The cheesecake at Carbone has always been good so that is probably the way to go here. Again, this place is absolutely beautiful. The view is incredible. We were so close to the fountains we were sprayed lightly with water (that helps because there is no shade at all and it is going to get HOT on that deck). But the view is similar at Prime, and the food is much, much better at the Italian Carbone in Aria. If you value experience more than amazing food, this is a must-visit stop for you. It's still worth going once but I don't think we'd go back because the meal just wasn't very good. Original Carbone is the winner. read more

Have been a big fan of Carbone but always have a hell of a time making reservations. No better combination than great Italian food with a view of the Bellagio fountain in the background! Started the meal off with an old fashioned while the servers brought out a warm tomato and olive focaccia bread and bread sticks with a white bean dip. Sadly we were still deciding what to eat so the bread was cold by the time we finished ordering. It was still tasty but would've appreciated them serving the bread after we ordered. We ordered the table side caesar salad, calamari fritti and maine lobster to start. Love their caesar salad, especially the presentation. The calamari fritti was perfectly fried to a golden brown and especially enjoyed the sauce that accompanied the dish. Wasn't a huge fan of the maine lobster as it was sorta like a cold seafood salad. Next dish we ordered was the lobster fettuccine. A generous 2 pound lobster that was cooked perfectly served on top of tomato fettuccine pasta. If we would've known how much food there was, would've stopped with the lobster fettuccine but we also ordered the salt baked branzino. Again the presentation was fantastic but thought the branzino was baked a tad bit too long as the cheeks were dry. Though the fish was perfectly fine eating as is, I wished I would've asked for more EVOO as I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa verde. As for the sided, we ordered the artichoke hearts and funghi misti which were both awesome. We also ordered the shrimp parmigiana which I'd say skip as they were also overcooked. As they needed the table, the waiter asked if we would like to enjoy dessert on the patio which we were happy to do. Couldn't think of a better way to end an awesome meal than with dessert while watching a few water shows. Carbone Riviera was incredible. We sat outside, and the view was absolutely stunning--we had a perfect view of the Bellagio fountain show right from our table. For food, the ribeye was flavorful and very filling. The Cappellini Crab AOP was a standout, packed with crab, and the jalapeños were the perfect complement to the dish. The Ricotta Gnocchi con Caviar was light, pillowy, and creamy. We also loved the Yellowtail Cinese--the thick-cut yellowtail was incredibly fresh, and the spice level was just right. First of all sitting outside the views are absolutely unreal I would go there again just for the fountain show. There is a minimum spent per person if you do sit outside I believe it was 175 we were told. There are a number of vegetarian options. I had the cold plate starter with zucchini and eggplant. It was pretty good a bit salty. There is the pass of course which is delicious and then there is a ravioli as well with no meat which was also really good. Meet your friends ordered a number of dishes. One thing that they did not enjoy was the $285 fish apparently it was very big and it was dry and they left half of it on the table. Overall service was amazing, good vibes pretty good food. Definitely worth it for the view, but the food in my opinion was okay read more

Got lucky with a reservation here last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is a bit hard to find inside the resort as the entrance is located downstairs from the main casino floor. We sat outside to watch the Bellagio fountains and it was really cool seeing it from that angle. Warning for the ladies with wavy or frizzy hair...you might feel some drizzle/mist, especially on a windy day. Anyhow, the service was wonderful and the food was outstanding! We started with some warm bread, and ordered the Caesar salad which is prepared table side. Delicious! The giant, buttery croutons on top were a game changer. The filet was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. We also tried the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta. It was a delicious blend of tomato and cream. I didn't think it was spicy at all. Wow-- everything about this restaurant was 5 star. From the pleasant check in to the gorgeous layout of the restaurant to the top notch views and service- it really was dreamy. Heads up if you have reservations outside it will be $175 minimum per person but granted that's fairly easy to hit here. Otherwise several tables inside have views of the bellagio fountains as well. We were seated near the window and had a great view of the fountains. Our server was Andrew and he was extremely personable and warm. We were provided complimentary bread upon seating and he walked us through the menu. Hubs and I decided to split a 16 oz ribeye steak $150 with the spicy rigatoni $36 and the potato crocante $20. We ordered the steak medium rare and it was phenomenal! The potato cocrante ( similar to potato wedges) were crispy and delicious. The spicy rigatoni was flavorful but pretty spicy! Added a ton of flavor to the steak and potatoes. The cocktails were fantastic here and the espresso martini with the chocolate shavings on top was top tier. Overall an absolute gorgeous venue in Vegas which makes it understandable why reservations are hard to come by. If you get the chance to sit on the patio I recommend by all means! Cheers. read more

So, I had an absolutely magical experience at Carbone Riviera on my birthday, March 9th. I was incredibly lucky to snag a reservation on my actual birthday, which made the evening even more special. We arrived a few minutes before our 5 PM reservation time. There were already quite a few people waiting, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Carbone Riviera is extremely popular and currently the hottest spot in Vegas. I saw many people turned away because they didn't have a reservation. So, make sure to secure yours! Upon arrival, we checked in and were greeted by a friendly staff member who called us by our names. They then escorted us to our seats. We had a reservation for the patio deck overlooking the water fountains, which I highly recommend. There's a minimum spend of $175 per person, but it's not too much. Just keep that in mind before requesting the patio. Our seat was the best on the deck. It was so beautiful that I couldn't stop taking pictures and videos. The ambiance was magical, and I was so grateful for the experience and the opportunity to celebrate my birthday in such a stunning location. The food was absolutely magnificent. Every dish we had was incredible, and the service was impeccable. I ended the night with a beautiful baci chocolate cake. I highly recommend the Bronzino as well. I think I overate a bit yesterday, but it was my birthday, and I was at the most beautiful place. Don't forget to check out the little Riva boat on the side. I've now been to Carbone Riviera twice. The first with friends, and then again with my husband to celebrate his birthday. It's one of those places that feels completely different depending on when you go. My first visit was supposed to be a patio night, but it was just too cold to sit outside. That gave me the perfect excuse to come back, and choosing a sunset reservation ended up being the best decision. Watching the space transition from daytime views to the glow of evening on the Strip made the experience feel extra special. The restaurant itself is stunning, filled with thoughtful design details everywhere you look. The patio here is also the closest I've ever felt to the Bellagio Fountains! You're truly right on top of the action. When we were seated, our cushions were still wet, but once I mentioned it, the staff replaced them immediately, which I really appreciated. Compared to Carbone, this concept feels much more seafood-forward. We leaned fully into that and ordered the lobster meatballs (which apparently sell out often), red Sicilian prawns, scallops, branzino, and yellowtail Cinese. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and dining with the fountains going off in the background elevated the entire meal. One thing to note: there is a food and beverage minimum per person for patio seating, but for the views and overall experience, it felt worth it for a special occasion. If you're deciding when to go, I highly recommend timing your reservation around sunset for the full day-to-night transformation. read more

The food was excellent, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service from our servers, Adriana and Pepe. We visited Carbone Riviera tonight for my son's 21st birthday celebration. First, I want to say that the food was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was excellent, and the quality of the cuisine absolutely lived up to the restaurant's reputation. The ambiance was lovely and the restaurant is gorgeous. Unfortunately, the service missed the mark. Based on the reviews we had read and the reputation of Carbone, we arrived expecting warm, attentive, polished hospitality. Instead, our primary server provided what I would describe as poor--and at times downright bad--service. The experience lacked the attentiveness, professionalism, and hospitality that we associate with a restaurant of this caliber. Our server basically abandoned us after our pasta service and had not been overly present prior to that. When he finally returned, he stated that he thought that we were done. Thankfully the person providing beverage service tried to step in to assist after I believe she realized what was happending - she was truly delightful. She helped us with our final course, coffee service and dessert. I am so disappointed that we had this experience and I hope that the server was just having an off night, but if not, that Carbone Riviera is able to use this feedback to improve their service or assist this particular server with improved customer service skills. I still recommend experiencing this restaurant based on all the other service reviews, the food is worth the visit! read more

Dined here with the wife on a Saturday night; 6:30pm reservations. I don't use this phrase very often but regarding our experience at Carbone Riviera I would give this restaurant six stars if I could. Every aspect of our meal was exceptional - from the service to the food preparation and quality to the beautiful space. We arrived just before our reservation time and were promptly seated by a very friendly and welcoming hostess at a comfy booth that faced not only the rest of the dining area (people watching!) but also gave us a great view of the Bellagio fountains without having to sit outside were it was a particularly cold night. The tables are well-spaced and while the restaurant is lively it certainly did not impede us from having good conversation during the meal. This is the former Picasso space and it has been redecorated from top to bottom with gorgeous mosaics and original artwork on the walls. Carbone famously refers to their servers as "captains" and ours, Eric D., was awesome! He took the time to explain many of the menu items to us and answer all of our questions. His assistants were also exceptional - our food was coursed out thoughtfully and timely and our plates and utensils cleared and replaced after each course. Our water glasses were refilled numerous times; just a terrific service experience. We ordered many items to share and Eric even told us at one point that he thought we had the perfect amount of food - such a refreshing response instead of encouraging us to order more and pad the bill. We started with the sea urchin and the tomato salad for appetizers. I'm an uni fanatic and I can tell you this was the freshest and most tender example I've ever had. It was complimented perfectly by the free bread service of individual focaccia loaves and homemade breadsticks - absolutely delicious. The Tomatoes Greco salad was also so fresh with a lovely vinaigrette and shaved Greek cheeses. For our pasta course we shared the spicy rigatoni and the tortellini. The rigatoni was perfectly spiced - not too heavy but just right. I can't say enough about the wonderful little pillows of tortellini filled with cheese - I seriously could have eaten a giant bowl of these and been completely satisfied. I highly recommend both of these dishes! For entrees we shared the lemon chicken and the shrimp parmesan. The chicken was a perfectly tender and mostly de-boned half-bird that was pounded flat with a fabulous lemon and parsley sauce on top. A unique presentation that really works. Speaking of unique I had never even heard of a "shrimp parmesan" before so I had to try it. It's a HUGE shrimp (more like a prawn size) butterflied and fried in a delicious batter with marinara and cheese on top. The shrimp was cooked perfectly - I absolutely recommend this dish as well as the chicken. For sides we ordered the broccoli and the scalloped potatoes. The broccoli was perfectly tender with a charred and smoky exterior. The potatoes were sliced so thin and baked to be crispy on top but moist and delicious inside. Again I absolutely recommend both of these dishes. We're never ones to turn down an opportunity for dessert and during our meal we saw one of the servers carrying a very impressive tray of cakes so we decided to order two for takeout and a scoop of pistachio gelato to finish our meal. Our to-go order was the pistachio cake along with the citrus cheesecake. We really enjoyed the cheesecake - it's reminiscent of a very upscale key lime pie. Perfectly tart and cheesy with a graham cracker crust. The pistachio cake was also very good but could have used just a touch more salt to make the flavors pop. Both were awesome with coffee the next morning. We devoured the gelato at the table as well as the little Italian tri-color cookies they served complimentary. Dinner for two came to $345 before tax and tip which included two glasses of wine poured tableside, one soft drink and a double espresso. The scallops and lobster pasta were my choices along with a Russian River beer. All highly recommended. Keep in mind the potential heat during the summer months and go for inside if preferred.
