Found a car on AutoTrader for $19k from this dealership and spoke to a guy name Tony Hernandez. At first he tried to up sell it as a truck selling for $29k and I told him that's not what auto trader said. So he contacts me back 6 hours later telling me he will sell me the truck for $19k but due to taxes it will be $21,500. Then I said I wouldn't pay more than $20k and I'm paying in full, he said I refused to pay taxes and sarcastically told me that since I know the industry I should have told him that and he would have given me everything. Dishonest practices at CardinaleWay Mazda. Stay far away from this dealer!!! What a waste of time. We came to an agreement on a monthly price for a lease based on a particular car's VIN number. Cardinale Way runs my credit which turns out great with a score just under 800. Then they hand me a document to sign that specifies the VIN of the car I will be leasing, however it's the wrong VIN number than the one we agreed on. After I bring it up to AJ's attention she said "oh yea we couldn't secure that car after all". It would have been professional of them to bring it to my attention prior to having me sign the document. Of course, the car that they listed on this document had less upgrades and a lower MSRP. After I declined to sign it, AJ came back to me with another document that had the correct car & VIN number we had originally agreed on. After signing this document she came back to say "the monthly lease payment has increased due to the increase in the MSRP". At this point, I knew the CardinaleWay Mazda dealership is just FRAUDULENT with their business practices and are exactly the type of SHADY dealerships you always hear about. I had a terrible experience with this dealership. I'm from San Diego and worked out a deal with Allan before deciding to take the trek up to purchase my new car. Allan is a cool guy, and when I got there he took me for a test drive and showed me all the features of the car and was very knowledgable. I didn't even attempt to haggle any more beyond what we had agreed upon before I came up, because I negotiated in good faith. But after filling out the loan paperwork (I had to finance through Mazda for the "deal"), I was told that I could only put $1,000 down and had to finance at over 4.5% to get the 48 month term I wanted. What?!? I have excellent, tier 1 credit. I wasn't expecting to get a great APR but I was willing to accept even 2.9%. But no, not only would they not let me put the money I wanted down, they wouldn't budge from the ridiculous 4.5% rate. If you do the math, which I'm sure some poor suckers don't when this dealership starts playing with numbers like they did with me, it makes a big difference in the overall price you pay as compared to a reasonable rate, let alone a good one. So in summary, these guys do not negotiate in good faith. They absolutely tried to take advantage of the fact that I drove 100 miles to finish a deal. If they negotiate what seems like a good sale price, they'll probably try to screw you over on the financing. read more

Although a couple of the sales reps are pretty friendly (Javier in particular...would love to buy from him in a different setting), these guys are jerks. I came in with a firm monthly payment I was willing to work with ($175-$200 per month, with $200 stretching my comfort zone and cutting back on everything). After they gave me multiple quotes which ended up being approximately more than $50-$70 over my spending limit, they continued to badger and borderline harass me on why "I must own this car". They even had the nerve to say "if you can afford $200, then you can afford $250". Seriously?? You don't know what bills I have to pay and what an extra $50 means to a 22 year-old like myself. And after telling them numerous times that they were beyond my budget and that I wasn't willing to compromise and ready to finally walk away they ended up getting two sales reps to "try and work a deal" for me, which still exceeded my budget. After finally listening to me and getting a comfortable number from me, the owner (or manager, whoever...) proceeded to wave at me and rudely asked me to leave the dealership. Long story short, if you're ready to pay beyond what the expected asking price for the car is, then go right ahead and buy from them. I looked up various loan calculators and even took into account a higher interest rate and it always ended up being approximately a whole $30-$50 less than what these jerks were asking for. I understand banks can only do so much and blah, blah, blah but just because I'm young, doesn't mean I'm an idiot and that I don't know how car buying works. I'm still smart enough to know when I feel like I'm getting bent over financially. Still on the market and still carless, but if not having a car means being able to have my pride and not feel uncomfortable every time my car note comes around, then I'm happy to be without a set of wheels right now. read more

Seedy business practice to get you to come into the dealership and then do a bait-and-switch. On top of that, the finance manager told me that dent removal is included. What she didn't tell me that was another $600 or point it out on the sales contract as she tried to rush me through the signing process. Once again, seedy business practice. My wife and I bought a car from them about 6 months ago (2015 Mazda CX-9). The facility was pretty new and very clean. We ended up getting a pretty good deal (6-7k off msrp) but there were a few things that made me think we were still getting lip service and not the best deal. First off, the value on our trade in was a little low (even after they bumped it up by $400.00) as well, we were told that they "never know" when body styles change. All it took was a few minutes online to determine that the body style was slightly changing... Anything for a sale right? As well, when I asked about a service package with the car I was told that they don't do that, but the send coupons to you... Seriously? Coupons? I just spent 30k and all I get is coupons? I was 1.5 hours from their location and called Saturday morning before leaving to confirm they still had the vehicle and set up an appointment to view it. They offered me starbucks for that appointment which was great however, once I'm 30 minutes away I call to tell them I will be there a bit earlier than planned as traffic was light that day. On the phone the girl tells me. "Oh I'm sorry we just sold the car". Extremely disappointing and as I continued to look at other cars, no other dealership did this to me. I purchased a cx9 back in October of 2016 and I was happy at first but now am filled with constant run around and phone calls visits ect all over them making so many mistakes on the contract and not fulfilling their end of the deal. On top of all that they charged me over 400 dollars for door edge guards and my CX9 doesnt have them lol. I have been there ATLEAST once a month and they have yet to install that thing I paid for and did not even ask for. Done waiting I called asking for a refund and they once again gave me the run around. No call back no nothing. I have purchased cars at many dealerships, this is by far my worst experience. I recommend that you go over the finance paperwork and make sure they are not charging you for things that are not on the car. I had to redo my paperwork 3 times because I kept finding things on there. My partner LOUIS went there on good faith, 2 hour drive after speaking to a new salesperson (Enrique) who was taking direction from the sales manager (JOEY). My partner was told he could get a 2016 Ford Focus SE for $9,999 or 10K. This car has been a nightmare since he drove it home. I'm writing this because being on social security disability your funds are so limited and fixed everything you buy has to be saved for. By the time he left the price was $14,000.00 !!!! Apparently they added fees without fully explaining it. Fees like etching a number , maintenance which he didn't ask for & multiple add on charges. As it stands we found out the car was sold with the back tire installed backwards, the motor mount on right front is busted, the car was shaking & vibrating at 65 MPH. You'd think with everything this company touts and provides they would make it right. In addition there was a recall to the engine that compounded the motor mount issue and it simply was not safe to drive. They should have never sold this car without this important update. Every time my poor partner tried to call and just let the sales manager know what was happening they could care less like it is our faults. We are in our 60's and don't have time for this nonsense with having health issues. I hope the owner enjoys ripping disabled folks off and taking it to the bank. My only regret is I couldn't be there when he was negotiating but like I mentioned a lot was done prior to driving 2 hours only to be a sales victim of a car dealership. Thanks Mr. Cardinale. Very deceitful and shady dealership. Astor was the guy that I was doing business with. He promised me that he would sale the car to me out the door for the price that we talked about through email. I even gave him a $500 deposit. After a few weeks they still don't have the car so I had to refund my deposit. Astor wanted me to come down to sign paper work to finalize the deal before he could get the car and so I made the trip to corona. When I got there he lied about the promise he made. I even showed him the email saying that he would sell it to me for the said price otd. He act like it never happened. He wanted to sell it to me for 4 to 5 thousand over the msrp. I cannot even begin to explain my happiness right now! I had to return my vehicle that I purchased last week (at another dealer due to constant issues!) I called Cardinale to speak with Abi and Katelyn called me right back! I explained my situation and that I was @ Cardinale last week working with Abi (who showed me several cars) so Katelyn immediately looked up my previous info. and got me approved and in my desired payment over the phone! Abi greeted me with a cheerful happy spirit, explaining that she had just filled my vehicle with gas (which the other dealer did not... it was given to me with 1/3 of a tank!) and that it was being washed! Abi sat and chatted with us for a minute and then immediately got to work getting my process started and finished promptly! While we waited... Abi grabbed Starbucks for us! As far as the service department goes...wayyyyy better than the service department at the riverside Mazda center. I've had to take my car in twice then past month. First my battery cracked and then had to change the cables (because of the battery) both Shawn, the manager, and Matt were extremely helpful, honest, and QUICK. They actually call you to let you know what's going on with your car, set you up with a rental and just communicate the whole time and actually take the time to really explain what's going on and why my car is having these problems. I'm sure going to any other auto shop would be a little cheaper, but I only trust dealerships and this Mazda dealership has been awesome everytime I've gone in. read more
