This place does not care about its customers once a vehicle has been bought. It took several trips and months to finally have the paint issues (scratches and chips) on a new vehicle fixed. I live in Rowland Heights so it's not like it's a short trip. VW customer care had to get involved in order to force the dealership to address the issues I had. Now I have been waiting for 2 months to get reimbursed for having to buy a windshield wiper on a rainy day after they gave me a rental without a windshield wiper. I have been patient and nothing. Emails sent with no reply, calls made with the promise to call me back. Scott Jackson will reply here with a generic message but how about replying to my emails. Do your self a favor and avoid this vw dealership. I just want to get reimbursed so that I never have to deal with this dealership again. The only pro, was how quick the purchase was but then again the salesman isn't there any more and I already knew what I wanted and had financing set up before hand. 7/25/18 Finally received my reimbursement check in the mail. I was looking for an atlas and Ontario had it but the day I went down their they sold the day before it without letting me know after I was in touch with a sales person. I called over and Victoria let me know they had the color and what I wanted. We got their and I was so excited to see it and know she really had it even though all dealers are low with their stock and an Atlas in white with captain seats is rare! The proceess was informative and helpful and I got what I really wanted even though I was going to settle she made it happen! Below is my original review: I wish the employees at Cardinale Way followed through with their enthusiasm and good customer service past selling you the vehicle. I had high praises for John and his manager during the car buying process. They were so attentive and seemed like they genuinely cared about me and helping me get a good deal that wouldn't break my bank. They did everything they could to get a good APR from the bank and added in tire protection and gap protection for me. After driving off the lot, however, customer service did a complete 180. There were a few things on the Due Bill that still needed repair, the back seat arm rest was broken, my tires needed nitrofill, and the car still had the service light on. All things they assured me they would take care of. John told me he would have the service department order the parts and he would call me when the part came in. He never called me. I had to call him 3 times before getting a call back. Since I purchased the vehicle, I have called John 8 times and the service department 6 times. I have only been able to reach John 1 time and have left messages with the receptionist all other times. I have only been able to reach the service department manager 2 times and all other times have left messages with other personnel in the service department. 10 weeks had gone by and they continued to keep giving me the run around, that they are waiting to order the part. I have already sent emails with photos of the parts, and cooperated fully on my part. Very discouraged. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe because the vehicle I purchased was an Audi and not a Volkswagen, they don't know what parts to order, who knows. However, after my entire ordeal with this dealership, I have chosen to give them 1 star because all of the promised items were still not fulfilled and the positive/apologetic attitude of the personnel at the dealership lacked immensely. The last time I brought my vehicle in, the manager here neglected to apologize for taking 3 months to honor the agreed repairs, nor did he address the lack of communication within their department, and never once acknowledged the inconvenience of me bringing my vehicle in 3 separate times. They gave me no explanation as to why all of the agreed items were not honored, and sent me on my way. Definitely buyer beware. I just left this place two hours ago and I'm just now getting back to regular blood pressure. I'll set the stage for my experience at this dealership, but first a little bit about myself and my situation. My family lives in the Inland Empire and I go visit every other weekend. I practically grew up in Corona. I now live in LA, close to Santa Monica. It's time to replace my 2006 Chevy HHR. And like that car I plan to buy my next used car out right. I've been on the hunt for a Honda CRV, but the other day I decided to take a look at a Volkswagen Tiguan, which they say is on par with the Honda. Well let's just say I fell in love with Volkswagen, and this model in particular. I find a 2013 for about $4000 over my budget price in Santa Monica, but man the car is so nice I may just have to splurge...HOWEVER... why not bargain hunt a little? Which leads me to this dealership. I find it at an incredible price, advertised online. I hit the 15 off the 60 on my way home from seeing the fam-bam. What is going down in crown-town with these awesome prices?? Save me CardialeWay! Well, if anyone reading this review has read any of the other poor reviews, you know the story about what goes on in this place. Right off the bat my sales lady tells me upfront that there are add on costs. Non negotiable add-on costs. So it went pretty much like this... "So the advertised price isn't really the price?" "It's the price of the car but the add-ons are already applied." "So that's not really the price," I say. "Well it is but the price is $1000 more with the add-ons." Hmmmm... okay... "Well can I get this car without them?" "Well, they never sell a car without them and I've never seen anyone have them taken off. If you read the fine print, it says that the price excludes dealership add-ons." (Full disclosure - the AutoTrader app does have a dealer statement that says that. However it's something I looked for AFTER the fact and to me it seems deceptive.) "So, what you're saying in essence is that I cannot negotiate a price without including the add-on, which I don't feel is necessary for me. I don't think I need it." We didn't get much further than this. She did offer to go and talk to the manager who is on site and see if she could do something for me. But she just came back with just the full price of the car and I think she was a little bit befuddled by what I asked her to do when she went to talk to her manager. Or did she go talk to him? Did she just go in the room behind the glass window, print up the price of the car, and since I'm not financing and just buying it out right, did little to help me buy this vehicle? I don't know. It was 30 minutes to closing time. It was cold outside. It's Sunday night! Who knows? I do know however that it's pretty aggravating to come here and feel misled. If I could rate this clown house a 0 out of 5 I would. This place is like the McDonalds (no disrespect) of the dealerships. I have never been treated so poorly at a dealership, and I have spent a lot of time at dealerships/ buying cars. This place has scam written all over it. From the moment I bought a car from here and they wanted to tack on tons of dealership fees, like special air that would keep my tires filled (which was also a scam). I just took my car in to get a couple of things serviced because my car is under warranty. I dropped my car off at 8:40am. Steven said they were going to call me around 11am. Well, 11am passed and still no update on my vehicle. So I gave them a call at 1pm. My car still had not been serviced and the service department informed me that my car was "next in line", which is pretty funny because I dropped my car off so early. The service department called me around 5:16pm to come and pick up my car. When I got there they would not let me take my car unless I paid $189 (shocker more scamery?!) for something that was under warranty. Thought I had a warranty? Me too. Needless to say I would not recommend this dog water dealership to anybody. Paige is very condescending and extremely rude. The WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I will never be returning, and will most likely never be buying another Volkswagen again thanks to CardinaleWay. Go to more of a Chick-fil-a dealership where you get treated like gold, and it's always their pleasure. My sister just bought a Jeep and they kiss the floor she walks on. read more

Quite honestly the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with. So disrespectful and rude. From the moment we bought our car here and they wanted to add on thousands of dollars as "dealership fees" such as "special air" for the tires that will never leak out :D , to now when we had to get a few things fixed that were under warranty. Our seat was not working for a few months, we put some LED lights in, and finally got around to getting it fixed, and they said it was the LED lights that caused the seat to malfunction, even though it wasn't working a lonnnnggggg time before this. They would not give us the car back unless we paid $189. Extremely disappointed in the fact that they can't even trust their own customers, and are just trying to scam everyone. We will NEVER be returning to this location for any services and do not recommend buying your car from here. You'll be better off going literally anywhere else. read more

My husband and I were shopping around for our next SUV since my lease was ending and we really fell in love with the Kurkuma Yellow Atlas (at a different dealership, but we ended up not going through them). We ended up coming home and looked on our USAA accounts to see what discounts we could qualify for. I got contacted by Brian D. via text and we had a very detailed text conversation about what we loved about the Atlas and whatnot. We ended up talking on the phone a little and making an appointment to see him the next morning. Brian was AMAZING. Not only did he LISTEN to what my husband and I were saying, he was just SUPER helpful all around. He wasn't afraid to be upfront and honest with us, which we loved. We wanted to Finance our next vehicle, but we weren't sure if we could because a bigger SUV meant a much bigger payment (and I was going from a CRV lease with an affordable payment). I've always leased my vehicles because the payment was always more affordable, but Brian did everything in his power to get us to finance the Atlas at a payment we were extremely comfortable with. My husband and I got a used 2021 Atlas last weekend and let me just say the experience we had while getting this car was amazing. Evan C was are salesman, and he went above and beyond for us. I ALWAYS take my cars to the dealership to get the best service. I just recently moved, so I took my car to the dealership in the new area. I was so STRESSED out by my experience there that I decided that I am never buying a VW again nor going to a VW dealership for service in the future. A) Mechanics are NOT knowledgeable. For ex, they told me that my car did not have transmission filters??? B) Service is DECEIVING. The car we got back from the mechanics was WORSE off than when the car we had dropped off! They literally told us that the work they do sometimes "messes up the car transmissions". What? (1) If your mechanics know that the work they do "messes up transmissions" why not tell the client before they pay, and why do the work at all? (2) People take cars to mechanics to fix cars, not to "mess" it up, right? C) THEN instead of fixing their admitted mistake, they were trying to SELL us a new car since "they messed up" the car. This made us feel like their crappy work was on purpose in order to make a sale. After they didn't want to fix their mistake, we had to fight them just to get a refund. As a woman, I felt so belittled by their attendants as well. Short Story: I would NOT recommend coming here for service, even to my worst enemy! Would not recommend getting a VW as well even one of their attendants told us they wouldn't even reconnect one to their family), unless you want to be throwing down money on mistakes that their mechanics make. read more

Apparently the car had a bad battery, but that's understandable with a used car. Fast forward three months and I still have not received the registration for the vehicle. Tried calling them today and had to leave messages for the general manager and the finance manager. Both people on the phone assured me that somebody would be calling me back. My husband and I wanted to go and talk it over at lunch and came back 1.5 hours later and they said they will no longer honor the price offered and they jacked up the cost! I could understand if we came back the next day but it was literally an hour or so and we told them we would be back before we left for lunch and the salesperson was fine with it. We called and spoke to sales person who was very helpful... we schelduled an appointment at 12pm and went in... I got a call while on the road by a manager, that asked what kind of beverage i would like... I thanked him but said it was unnecessary... We get there ans went for one of the best test drives... Our salesperson was nice and very helpful... once we got back... we took a closer look at the vehicle and noticed that there was previous body damage and substandard paint work performed..... I would normally walk... but decided to see if something couls be worked out.... meaning.. a discounted price to make up for the difference... Not something im into.... but i have the resources and know the people that can correct the problem... So i decided to move forward and workout the numbers... so after presenting our approval and running the numbers.... it was determined that we were looking at the wrong car.... this was after getting excuses of... the debt to income changed.... the down payment is not correct.... the sky is not 100% blue and the wind is not blowing out of the Northwest....anyways... once we determined that.. now we need the manager to work his magic...we came in at 12pm... its getting close to 4:30pm... so we decided to grab a bite to eat as the manager works his magic.... at 5pm i decided to call.... and was told... we got it worked out come on in.... so i asked what the final price was??? I was told to come in.... i now tell my wife... lets watch the shenanigans.... so now im introduced to Arscenio...unfortunately his last name was not Hall... I could have gotten a good laugh and asked for a punch line.... so here is the deal....Even my 7 year old son was able to figure this one out... The price of the car was $16,760.... The GENEROUS ARSCENIO.... decided to give me a $2,200 discount... and now the most ultimate insult for someone who works in finance.... in order for me to sell you the car.... you have to buy an $850 Gap insurance and a $1,980 extended warranty.... if you dont buy it... we cant sell you the car....HOLLY CRAP... you f up and show me the wrong car... and now you want to hose me on a car that is technically blemished???? Just bend me over without any vasoline... at this point i decided to walk.... So basically 5 hours of my time and the aggravation of having my intelligence insulted... give a new meaning to scum bag car sales.... i told the salesperson... I had a terrible experience trying to buy a used car from this dealership. I wrote a letter to the sales manager, regarding it. Here are the main contents of that letter, with edits to abide by Yelp's policies regarding full names: Hello Mr. (Manager's Last Name), Yesterday (2/10/2018) I visited CardinaleWay Volkswagen with my father to test drive a used 2013 Prius you have (or had) in stock. After the test drive, the sales associate we were working with, Gloria, asked us for our initial impression. I told her that I felt the car was not quite worth the price being asked and stated a reduction of $800.00 was what we were looking for. Gloria then left to speak with her manager, and upon her return made it sound as though this request was possible and would happen. Throughout the process over the next few hours, we were repeatedly handed paperwork that did not reflect this $800.00 price reduction, and whenever we mentioned it, Gloria told us something to the effect of "I can't put it on there yet, I would get in trouble." This should have raised more red flags with me than it did at the time, but I was putting my faith in the word of your staff and was content to follow along with it. You can understand the frustration we felt when it came time to sign all of the final paperwork and the promised price reduction was not included, and the gentleman helping us finalize everything had no information about it. He had to go check and confirm that this term had never been authorized. He was understandably apologetic, and I appreciated his openness and candor regarding the issue. The worst part of this experience was watching my father, who is an extraordinarily patient and understanding man (he is a university professor and was the head of a doctorate program for 16 years) become visibly and outwardly upset by having been misled by your staff. I have rarely seen this happen; it takes a lot to move him in that way. On the way home he mentioned a desire to leave reviews about your dealership on Yelp and other sites; this is something he usually reserves for positive feedback. This was my first time attempting to buy a used car from a dealership, and the experience has made it very likely it will be my last. Had your staff been open and honest with us, the price factor may not have been a breaking point for the sale. I understand salespeople hate saying "no" to their potential customers, but it's far better than lying. read more

A bit more than disappointing car buying experience. Reviewed the inventory ahead of time and found that there were more than a few used Passat TDI SEL Premiums on the lot which was why we made the trip. Customer service was questionable at times even though we were greeted promptly and everything got off to a good start. The first car was pulled up for us and it was an immediate no deal. We checked out a half a dozen others and test drove two. Apologies for our sales rep who had to run back and forth to get the keys for each of them. They are used vehicles but I have to say that the cars could have been more thoroughly detailed. Looking at CARFAX reports it became quite apparent that these cars have been in storage in Michigan and they all smelled like hay bales on a cow farm. We understood that these cars were recalled due to emissions issues in the past and now that the dust has settled on the matters (and in the cars) they have been rolling back out into the market. Low mileage diesels that can potentially last a great deal of miles are nice. We found two that we compared and ultimately decided on one since whatever we bought should be washed and detailed before we left. Sitting down to talk to our sales rep we moved forward with pricing. First she asked if we were paying cash or financing. We said cash. She said she was printing out a paper, she went to retrieve it and when she came back she explained that it was an informal document used to determine if we were serious about buying. Meanwhile, let's set the tone (or ambience if you will). One of the sales persons sat in his office with his door open having a fairly audible conversation in which he definitely used some explicative's. Our sales rep went to talk to the sales manager and returned with a document outlining a finance plan even though we already said we were paying cash. She said that it was an equity plan. My question is, equity for who? The dealership? The finance department? Definitely not the cash buyer. When the advertised price on a car is $11,400 that is what I'm expecting. Instead, this is the price that is used in online sites to lure customers in. That wow factor. The sales rep stated that the pricing was set and there was absolutely no negotiating! The finance plan further explained some additional charges outside of the obviously tax, license and doc fees that come with all cars. There was also an additional (estimated) $1000 fee for all the sales rep stated was done to make the vehicle certified including nitrogen filled tires. I get that nitrogen has been used since 1966 and is better for retaining tire pressure and being lighter than air. That's no reason to inflate fees and toss them in on top of an advertised price. Upon questioning these fees and restating that we were intending to pay cash the sales rep began to demonstrate and unacceptable temperament. She got very rude and blamed my wife for ignoring an earlier statement about the fees being included in the pricing. What pricing? The $11,400 that was online? Sure there is the small print that states there may be additional terms and conditions. Got it. That is no call to blow up on my wife and be rude. That is not how you handle this. Next time this sales rep needs to collect herself, excuse herself and get her sales manager involved. No sale today! We walked. As we got in our truck and got ready to leave we noticed that she stormed into the sales managers office to let two gentlemen in there (we could see in the window) know what happened. It is quite apparent that used cars sales persons don't like cash buyers. I'm of the impression that rather than moving inventory while giving customers a great experience and leaving them satisfied they would rather turn their smile upside down and blow the deal. I was hopeful... looking to buy more than one car and twice in one week we have walked away. Could have sold one and had a repeat customer. I worked with Evan when looking to buy a new GTI. 2023 He was great. When I showed up for the appraisal for my car they had my Starbucks drink waiting for me which is great. They were willing to come down a lot on the monthly payment due to my good credit history with BMW Financial and Honda financial. Although I just wasn't able to get to the payment within my budget. They definitely were more than willing to work with me. They were selling the car at MSRP. They only added on $1,495 dealer add on. When I asked they told me they have to do that to all cars that come in as a order. They told me if I didn't do that was discrimination which its definitely not. I went to college for social justice and discrimination and let me tell you that doesn't make sense. 3 items for that cost was paint protection on the sides of the doors and door handles, 3rdly nitrogen in the tires. They said I have free refills for a year for nitrogen in tires, but I don't live in that area and you only use nitrogen in tires when you live in a really cold climate or climate that fluctuates a lot. You don't need that in Southern California when it doesn't get below 50. They offered me to take the gap insurance off an extended warranty off and that would've got to my payment. However those things were a must in my opinion. And you are foolish if you don't purchase GAP insurance. I just didn't want to pay the extra dealership cost. I definitely wanted that extended warranty with gap insurance with my payment. Unfortunately I had to walk away, but will be back when I pay more of my current car off. Which I was bummed. Next, When including in the nitrogen tires, I ask what tires come with the car and they weren't able to tell me. As the car was still on order. Which I understand, but they didn't seem to want find out. I also asked to see the paper with the numbers again and I wasn't able to get it because I wanted to call my own bank and that opportunity was not given to me. Over good experience pretty laid back dealership. I understand the markets tight and the dealers need to make money too. However as a customer you have to do what's best in your interest and not theirs. Your the one fitting the bill for the life of the loan. Hopefully this was a helpful review read more
