Delicious brunch food here! Checked it out on a busy Sunday brunch time and had to sit outside or wait 15 minutes since the tables inside were completely full. We got sat and checked out their delicious Caribbean menu. I ordered the iced amaretto latte and the steak, egg, and cheese sandwich. The drinks took about 20 ish minutes as the server was super busy. The coffee was strong and delicious! The food took a little bit longer to recieve as well. The sandwich was pretty good. This place has THE BEST steak breakfast sandwich in Chicago. I dream of this steak sandwich, it's just that good. It has scrambled eggs, steak, onion, mixed greens, tomato, chipotle mayo & choice of cheese. They even offer habanero ghost pepper cheese if you can handle it. You can either do ciabatta bread or a tomato basil wrap. I'm very picky when it comes to steak and they always nail it, the steak is very flavorful, juicy and tender! The cheese is perfectly melted and the creaminess of the chipotle mayo and fresh veggies just make this sandwich phenomenal! I haven't tried any of the other items from here because it's hard to get something else when you find something you absolutely love. Service is decent and can be a bit slow at times, it is usually very busy though during breakfast/lunch on the weekends. You may have to ask them to refill your water a few times but the staff is very friendly. The place is clean and bright with some Caribbean vibes to it. read more

I was in the area with a friend and wanted to try something new. I rarely dine-in for breakfast, but we had a hangover and were craving it. I know this place is like a Caribbean-themed restaurant (catering to mostly Cuban or Puerto Rican dishes), but the hostess recommended French toast or the skillets which I found to be interesting. We both went with different skillets. I have to say, we spent way more time in here than I wanted to. The place was busy although there were a few open tables inside and outside when we arrived. They were likely down a server or two (?), so we had to wait a little. No problem. The main issue was how long it took for the food to come out. Either they were slammed or just understaffed, but it took a whiiiiile for it to come out. They also came out after we had our order taken to let us know they ran out of avocado. That was disappointing. I'm really easy going and am not the one to complain, so it didn't really bother us even though we were pretty hungry. I think it would have been a good gesture if the server or a staff member has come over to apologize for the delay or at least do something about it. I've never waited that long for something as simple as a skillet. It might've just been an off day, so it's alright. I'd still be willing to try them again, and maybe even sit on the patio. A HUGE plus is that they are BYOB. One big reason to come back! read more

We came to this spot for brunch the other week, just try something new. They have a nice front patio seating area. The inside has a real smooth Caribbean feel. With most of the breakfast and brunch spots in the city leaning heavy into Mexican cuisine, this was a nice change. My wife ordered the steak sandwich with habanero cheese. It definitely had a kick. I ordered the coquito French toast. It was lighter than regular French toast and had a pretty good rum flavored syrup to accompany it. The food overall was decent. We also got cafe con leches which were also good. They only had one server and a couple cooks so service was a little slow, but we didn't have any plans for the day so it wasn't a bother. Decided to switch up my normal brunch routine and check out Caribella! First of all, the decor is so on theme and the service was exceptional. I got the famous Coquito coffee- iced and non dairy and thought the coconut flavor was a bit too overpowering. Didn't really like the chunks of coconut cream at the bottom but it was a fun drink to try. Got 2 skillets and really liked the addition of plantains instead of potatoes. The Guava French toast was tasty but beyond rich and filling, I almost ate half before feeling too full. Always order a bowl of Sorullitos for the table, a great start to the meal! Wow. This place puts out some Amazing Dishes. Wife found this place and wanted to try so we walked over for lunch and got a little table outside. The menu is small and straightforward. A wonderful cafe that has a perfect cafe feeling where as the food and drinks have a great Caribbean feeling. The service was fantastic. The food omg was it amazing. The Puerto Rican Rice (Arroz Con Gandules) was amazeballs. The Cubano is one of the best I have had in the states. Oh em gee, Caribella is the spot! Searched the internet for a great brunch option and Caribella made it onto a few lists- after visiting I can see why. It's a smaller cafe, but super cute inside- nice, clean, and bright. The kitchen is towards the back but also feels like your family's kitchen since it's a bit more of an open concept. The employees were kind and attentive. I started with an iced mocha and ordered the Cubano for lunch with rice as the side. Literally one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had- the bread was fresh, meat cooked well and a great ratio of pickles/mustard. I think you can also tell a lot about how a restaurant makes their rice and I can wholeheartedly say they put their heart into their food. Their rice was reminiscent of days visiting my aunts- you know the one you're always excited to visit especially when food is involved! The interior is cute with the beach wall art and the Spanish music playing! I ordered off the special menu and got a breakfast jibarito with rice. This was good, and the Puerto Rican rice tastes just like my grandmas. We also got the guava French toast to share which was a delicious treat! I'd recommend sharing since it can be pretty filling. I love it when business owners reach out about their businesses because it means they care. What I don't like is their inability to take constructive criticism. A good response will be "I am sorry you didn't like the food, I hope you give us a chance and you will see that we are better than that." I would have been there again and again. The only criticism I have of it is the plantains were a bit dry but they were still good. We shared an order of guava pancakes that we also loved. My brother got the Coquito to drink and while it was pretty sweet, he still enjoyed it a lot. I got the mango/orange juice from the specials menu and it was so refreshing! From curb to serve, it was 40 minutes to be seated and another 20-25 to receive our order. Getting past the wait was most of the battle, though. The chorizo skillet was well-seasoned and there were a number of options for the egg combo that looked appealing enough to try. The eggs themselves on both dishes were cooked fairly hard.
