ONLY CARLS JR ON OAHU! Had to visit when I heard about their yummy new doughnuts! Spotted on Instagram and knew I had to try ASAP. No signs indicating that theres a Carls Jr but just turn into the gas station and youll see the sign on the building itself. Parking is tight. Also note that there are homeless in the area. The gas station is divided in half so read their signs and stand in the right line to order. Theyre quick to both take your orders and fulfill it! Less than 15 minutes for the whole experience considering it was busy at 7:30 PM. Everyone wants Carls Jr! I got the Guacamole Bacon Burger with a single patty (such a messy and slightly spicy burger, so good especially the patty because it was soft), the onion rings (batter-heavy = thick onion rings), and a side of their NEW FROOT LOOP MINI DOUGHNUTS! They taste EXACTLY like the cereal! They truly delivered the correct flavors and these doughnuts are so soft, not too sweet, and pairs well with milk! 5 doughnuts in an order for less than $3! Why is there only one Carl's junior on the island and in a gas station? It's such a pretty random location right off of Nimitz highway. I just wish there was a drive thru as it's kinda shady. The menu is quite limited but the offerings are somewhat better than other burger places. Honestly I was looking for the kids menu but I couldn't find it for beans until I finished ordering. What's great are the sides! Where else can you get waffle fries or zucchini sticks! The burger itself is not bad either. However the ketchup dispenser was kinda gross - well the ketchup had a funky taste and was kinda chunky. I wonder if it was old. Living here my whole life, I had no clue that this place existed since 1997 lol. It's actually kinda hard to see especially if you're driving on Nimitz Hwy. the driveway is small and you can totally miss it. It's located in the 76 gas station. When I went on vacation about 4yrs. ago, I tried Five Guys, In and Out, and Carls Jr. and surprisingly, I loved Carls Jr. burgers best. It tasted like a charbroiled burger and it was flavorful. I ordered the Big Carl, Famous Star, and the chicken tenders. The burger tasted like how I remembered it when I first ate it in the mainland during my vacation years ago....yummy and expensive. The Little Gas Station That Could Now before I get some jeers for ranking this fast food chain so high, let me explain. This is the only location on the isle and its not taking up a lot of space like all those other ones. In fact, its so small, its located inside a gas station. I ordered the Famous star combo with fries. The burger is juicy, crisp, and tastes great. The structure of it is nice and tight preventing innard spillage like some of those other places. I enjoyed the criss cut fries here, even after they get into the soggy state, they are still able to retain moisture and flavor. They dont dry out and get stale that fast as with regular fries. I went to Carl's Jr. in Cali while visiting the sis. I tried their beyond burger (plant based) it was so yummy I had to try it again! I didn't know this place existed I thought the only one on island was the one in Kahala Mall. They are no longer located there so this was my only option. My hubby told me about this location and so I came with the in-laws. It is located inside the 76 gas station. The staff are super friendly. You walk in and order at the cash register, they hand you a number and then you sit down at the tables and wait for your food to be brought to you. The service was fast, the order was accurate, and the food was delish! I am so happy that more and more restaurants are catering to vegans and healthier food choices. I ordered the beyond burger and a side of fried zucchini. Both were very tasty and satisfying. The burger is quite large and filling. What can I say, the Western Bacon Cheeseburger is a Manly burger...........we don't waste time with veggies...........it's just meat, cheese, bacon, onion rings, & BBQ sauce! Yummmmmmmm!!!!! We ordered Onion Rings to go with our combo's, but when we got our order, they got it wrong, & brought us Crisscut Fries. :( But I gotta give this place a 5 star rating for their service! This place may not the most hygienic place. I was asked to wait outside for my order number to be called. When they called my number it was hard to understand, but the person who came after me when to get the order. So, I figured his number was called first. He grabbed ketchup and put it in the bag. Then they took the bag back from him after he touched the inside of the bag. I was hoping that wasn't my order so I watched as they took the bag to the kitchen where I can't see what's going on. Later when they finally called my number they told me to grab ketchup, but I didn't take any bc I think it's unhygienic to grab ketchup packets from where everyone else is grabbing during a pandemic. I love truffle! Like if you would put truffle on sand, I will eat it! So I saw an ad that Carl's Jr had a limited edition truffle burger, and bacon truffle fries. I immediately looked up the nearest carl's jr, and realized there's only one on the island! It's across mcdonalds along nimitz highway. Even if it was 30 minutes away, I was determined to get a taste of that burger. I called first to ask if they had it, cause I don't want to waste my time. And they did! When I got there, it's barely noticeable! I didn't even know that there's a carl jr by that gas station! so weird! But whatever, as long as they can give me my truffle burger. So I got there, ordered my truffle burger and bacon truffle fries. Waited for 30 minutes to get my burger, staff was very nice, we were chatting while waiting for my food. I didn't want to eat it at the gas station, so I drove for another 30 minutes to get home and to finally get a taste. You can already feel my excitement here, I took a bite, and another, and another, wondering when do I get to taste the truffle part of it?? None, Nada, Nothing, NO TRUFFLE TASTE AT ALL! I was so disappointed, I didn't even finish my burger. So on to the bacon truffle fries, this had more of a truffle taste than the burger!! I was so confused! I thought maybe they forgot to drizzle some truffle oil on my burger?? But I was so far away that a drive back to carl's jr wasn't very ideal. I should've tried it before leaving. Been over 10 years since I last ate here. Ordered the Super Star a double patty burger with cheese. My review, the charcoaled burger patties looked like them were flat grill fried. Not bbq over fire. There were no black bbq marks burnt into the burger. Nothing like Burger King. I took it to go. When I got home 30 mins later. The entire sandwich was soggy and wet the bottom bun was soaked. And I thought to my self, I never ate there before but didn't realize it was at a gas station also. Came here for the Guacamole burgers, chicken strips (highly favored by other yelpers-and rightly so), and the Fruit Loops Donuts. Their burgers are charbroiled and thick- unlike the thin patties from the famous food chain starting w/ M... sliders are less than $2 and def worth it for our little guy. Chicken strips are crispy on the outside and tender inside. Batter isn't too thick and it's perfectly seasoned. Drinks are self-served and u have to get the donuts right by the registers. They're located inside the mart for the gas station right across the PBS station/center. I don't think there's any other Carl's Jr on the island so make a pit stop and make sure u get the chicken strips. read more

I remember going to Carl's Jr. at Pearlridge & Kahala Mall way back when & they made some pretty tasty burgers. Will this place be the same? My first impression? Very high testosterone level here even though they had two ladies manning the counter, lol. I suppose the gas station atmosphere had something to do with it. So far I tried the famous star burger & the jalepeno turkey burger. Instead of regular fries you can upgrade your choice of sides. They have sweet potato fries, criss cut fries, onion rings, fried zucchini or chili cheese fries. The upcharge ranges from 40 cents to $2.99 depending what you get. So a combo will run between $8-$11 or more if you go Medium or Large and/or if you get the chili cheese fries. Not as good as I remembered probably because I took mines to go. Best eaten on the spot otherwise it gets cold fast. They have about four tables and a long counter with chairs if you want to eat in. Parking is limited, about four stalls in the front & four in the back. Been fortunate to snag a spot no problem. Can enter from Nimitz or in the back from Puuhale Place. Good place to stop in if your heading to the airport. They serve breakfast too. The loaded breakfast burrito peaked my interest. After donating blood at the Blood Bank on my usual visits, I passed by this Carl's Jr location on Nimitz Hwy and realized that I haven't had one in so long. It may have been a poor health decision on my part, but there I was making a turn around and driving into the parking lot to get some. It's part of a gas station, kinda like the one on Maui, but it's perfect for my needs. Whatever works, I suppose. There was a short line, fortunately for me, so I just had to get the $6 burger with fries combo. Some part of me just wishes I was in a bonafide Carl's Jr restaurant, versus a gas station, but meh, I guess they do good things here - more or less. The food at these national food chains should be identical, so to my surprise, it wasn't that much different. I guess it just depends on who cooks what on a certain day. It was good, but sometime, the taste was just not there. Maybe I just haven't eaten Carl's Jr for a long long time. With that said, the service was good, as expected, but I just made it a take out order and headed home to feast. The burger was pretty good, nice and juicy. The fries was not as crispy, since I let it sit for a good 20 minutes on the drive home - still good nonetheless. It sucks that to enjoy some Double Western love, you gotta go to a shady part of town (Nimitz/Sand Island/OCCC), you have to order at the same place people buy gas and cigarettes, you sit in a makeshift dining room in a converted gas station/convenience store, but that is the sacrifice we make for Carl's son, Jr. I usually get the Western Burger (actually, the Double Western). It's burger, no grass and fruit, just a burger, some bacon and some onion rings, topped with bbq sauce. Don't get the "thick/$6 dollar" version, for cheaper, just get the double. Whatever you do, don't get the teriaki burger...pineapple on a burger...come on! This is one of the better fast food burgers. The fries are alright, but get the onion rings, or even better the criss-cut fries. BONUS: DIET DR. PEPPER!!!! I believe this is the only place on Oahu that serves DIET Dr. Pepper on tap. Their mix was a little off that night, too much fiz, not enough syrup...but it's a START! I love Carls Junior. The best thing about this Carls Jr location is they always serve the food fresh. They dont cook your food until your order is placed. So I wouldn't exactly call them fast food because fast foods like McDs and Jacks usually prep the meals in advance and place 'em in warmers. Carls Junior does not do that. I wish there were more CJs on Oahu but the only one is coupled together with gas station down Nimitz/Sand Island area. The prices are affordable, the food quality is always on point so I always try to understand when the service isnt as fast as McDs and Jacks. My favorite is the simplest thing on the menu: spicy chicken sandwich which is like $2.69 . They have very delicious, cheesy sandwiches and burgers, with lots of bacon too! Gotta love em. Even though it's fast food inside a gas station and their burgers/sandwiches are so messy you need to be hosed down after eating them, Carl's Jr. is one of the few fast food joints I don't put up an argument against. I usually get the Chicken club with barbeque sauce and fried zucchini as my side. Tasty but messy! My favorite fast food burger place on the island happens to be at a gas station. That's how my Iife is going. Seriously, their burgers are tasty with a lot of variety in the grass fed all natural or $6 restaurant burger. I also love their charbroiled chicken burgers like the Santa Fe. Best of all, since I am on a keto diet, they offer every sandwich as a lettuce wrap so I get some veggies and no wasting of buns (and reducing lbs off my buns). For the carb eaters, what's nice is that they have fried zucchini and onion rings as options instead of fries. The place is tiny so when it's crowded it can get claustrophobic. But it's a great alternative to Mickey Dees, BK and even Wendy's. read more
