Horrible. Dirty, slow and could care less about the customer. Waited at counter for at least 4-5 min to order. Someone kept telling the young kid to do other stuff. Prices are stupid high. They don't give a dam about you. I watched the S$it Sh@w for 30 min before getting a simple combo meal. Then I got no tomatoe or onion. Poor me I guess.

DON'T STOP HERE!!! They're a hot mess!!! I paid $22.68 for them to forget my daughter's milk, have a few hash browns thrown into the to-go bag, and hair scrambled in the eggs on my breakfast biscuit sandwich. If you do eat here the chances of getting food poisoning is high.

Okay Bertha-- really this is a shake? 2/3 full. She handed it to me and asked me if I needed whipped cream -- and I replied "Guess I'd better if I want a full cup?!" Other customer felt and said a comment to "is that supposed a shake?" Not going back to this one.

By far one of the worst fast food places along all of I-5 corridor. I'm so disappointed! I don't frequent Carl's Jr / Green Burrito. I just know in the past I've not been a big fan of their burgers flavor. So with that in mind,I ordered a simple crunchy beef taco: $1.99. For that, I'd expect at least a halfway decent taco. I mean really, how do you screw up a taco!? Well good job... they did. It was small, chewy shell with some weird texture mystery meat that fell apart every attempt to bite into. Ugh! Thank goodness for what looked like a fairly fresh salsa bar with diced tomatoes and onions and cilantro (Pico de Gallo). Also there were yellow peppers, onion cilantro mix, onions, cilantro and a hot sauce. They don't have any in between sauces and the only package hot sauce they have is Chulua. (Which I got 5 packs of for my one tiny taco). My husband ordered the western bacon cheeseburger combo. The order of fries were very short changed. Sad and pathetic! After he watched me struggle with my taco he shared his burger with me... yup just as I remember them. They are just WEIRD tasting! We waited an exceptionally long time and before we got there, there were no other people waiting. When we left there was at least 6 other guys waiting with a befuddled look on their faces, wondering the same thing we were thinking.... WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG!! And lastly, our server, male with bleached blonde hair, was friendly until we were finishing our pick up transaction and he offered us ketchup and Chulua and we thought he was interacting with us (i mean he was looking right at us all but two feet from each other) but he was actually talking to someone over the headset intercom. Sigh. Like...thanks,.. you're welcome,.. eat rocks. Only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is the bathroom was clean. The restaurant itself, although I watched them sweep and mop, still just didn't look or even feel clean. Tables were not wiped down. Needless to say, I won't ever stop at this Carl's again... and not likely any other for that matter unless by someone else's choice. And what's with the Green Burrito?? Why?? They can't get a taco right, what makes one think they could get something like a burrito right?!

A good breakfast for a nice ride home.

Needed some breakfast on the road from Sacramento to Los Angeles. Stopped here mainly because unlike the other MAJOR Hamburger Place - Carl's does't ONLY serve Breakfast items in the morning, and my wonderful wife, doesn't like breakfast - she wants a burger in the morning. So I had the sausage, egg and cheese biscuits (2) and a large coffee. She had the Western Bacon Cheeseburger Combo with large fries (to share). My biscuit sandwiches were good. The biscuits are a little over done but I enjoyed the nonetheless. The coffee was okay, but better than the cup I had at a gourmet coffee shop in Reno two days prior. My wife's Western Bacon was served on the "New Bun." The burger itself was fine - normal for Carl's but she said she prefers the old bun. The fries were fresh and hot. The service was okay - the restroom was clean.

It was 11:30pm and I had been driving on the I-5 for about 6 hours, returning to San Fran from Vegas with dry eyes and a growling stomach. Nothing much was open and then there suddenly in the distance like a beacon of hope in the distance the yellow star shown brightly. I quickly pulled over and strolled on in. I was greeted by a nice young man who introduced me to Time Magazine's Summer of 2013 Must-Taste Fast Food List: Where get this their San Diego Burrito had made the top ten! I'm going to set this up for you by sharing an excerpt from OCFoodies Magazine: "We are always on the look-out for the latest Mexican food trends for our Green Burrito menu and we loved this one that we ran across in the San Diego area," said John Koncki, director of product development at Carl's Jr. and Green Burrito. "Down there near the border, many Mexican restaurants offer steak burritos with French fries in them so, of course, we had to try them and they were great! The French fries go really well with the taste of marinated steak, freshly prepared guacamole and salsa, adding a nice crunch and potato flavor to the burritos. So, I guess Green Burrito's answer to the age-old question 'Do you want fries with that?' is 'Sí.'" I think John says it best. Was it amazing? Hell no! It was fast food! It did however beat that other mexican chain place that is not Taco Bell (what in fast food could ever beat Doritos Tacos Locos?) and the restaurant was clean and the only thing open along the hi-way. Keep on Truck'in!

I would not stop here again the place was a mess!

The other location in Buellton closed a while ago so I think this maybe the only one left. Could be the original but I'm not sure. Just off the 5 heading north. We stopped by for a quick bite before heading back on the road. Mid week which wasn't that busy. It's been so long ago that I didn't remember what the inside looked like. As we had our little pup with us, they were able to accommodate us. There's three entrance from the front area. Main being the one that leads you to the restaurant. Another is from the gift shop side and we also noticed people coming in from the side of the bar. One side is the restaurant which we looked at but ended up at the bar section. Which happened to be happy hour happening. Didn't know they had that to offer. Bar area was pretty quiet when we were there but it did pick up. There's also patio seating right outside there. Main menu pretty much has as everything but we just opted for some happy hour bites for now. Drink special was offered both for draft and bottle as well as cocktails and wine. Food menu, they were limited on that but the usual were offered. Both cup or bowl of the famous soup was available. Half order of the potatoes skin, onion rings and wings were available as well as the quesadillas. Soup was decent but could have been hotter. Onion rings, and the wings were ok. Good nothing major to rave about. Both served with ranch sauce. I also picked up some dessert from the counter which looked great. Happy hour items were decent for the price. The service for the whole place was great. All The staff and waitress were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress who was also the bartender was a major doll. She was very sweet. As well as all the ladies on the restaurant side. Very accommodating to us. Overall, it was a cute stop off for a quick bite. Cute gift shop that's worth a wandering around. Plenty of parking available.

Outside there is a photo op and the building looks really cool. Inside, you can find all things Danish. However, I was sad to find the shop was so much smaller than the pictures on Yelp show. Everything is connected inside - the shop, bakery, restaurant, bar, and restrooms. The restaurant is huge and there's also an eating area at the bar and a back patio, although it was dusty and cramped and I don't think many people use the patio seating. They are dog friendly and the bartender allowed us to sit in a corner of the bar with our two dogs for our dinner. We also were able to walk them around inside the shop. Split Pea Soup 3.5/5* The soup itself is boring. There's a grainy texture, good flavor, but blah. You definitely need to order the toppings to go with it, which is a weird combination of stuff that somehow makes the soup so much better. You get cheese, sliced ham, bacon, scallions, and croutons but the crunchy green onions and bacon are what makes the soup pop. It feels like eating a healthier version of chili. Country Fried Steak 2/5* Not your typical country fried steak. The batter on this is thin and isn't very textured with crunchy edges. It was like a sad limp piece of fried patty. The steak had good seasoning but the batter really did it no justice. Hashbrowns were average. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and English Muffin was perfectly toasted. I do like that they give you a whopping amount of whipped butter for your toast! The bakery had some good looking pastries. The whole experience reminded me of a piece of Solvang. Great rest stop for something different. Plus, the bathrooms are huge and clean.

This visit happened to fall on Mother's Day weekend. We had reservations for both Saturday and Sunday, but we stopped in on Saturday to cancel that day's reservation since we'd already eaten lunch and knew we wouldn't be hungry by dinnertime. On Sunday, when we checked in for our reservation, I was impressed -- the hostess remembered us by name, which says a lot considering how many guests come through the restaurant. We were seated, and soon after we were greeted by Eleanor, our server. She was warm, attentive, and never made us feel pressured, which was a huge improvement from a previous visit. She answered every question I had, including how they cook a medium‑rare steak (every chef has their own interpretation, lol). She also gave an honest answer when I asked whether the vegetables used at dinner come from their greenhouse. The service felt genuine, and the food was excellent -- a much better experience than my last review. This visit was absolutely worth the return. Kudos to Eleanor and the Kitchen at The Mission.

I went with something different this time since I thought my last review may have been too critical, thinking it may have been what I ordered that didn't tickle my fancy. On the recommendation of our server who was a fantastic kid, I ordered their Chili Rellenos omelette with a side of fresh fruit. My son also going off our servers recommendation went with one of their signature Chilaquiles dishes. Again, I have to say my meal was just okay. Even though the presentation is one for the books, the flavors or should I say flavorless is just bland. No real seasoning or flavors, just safe. My son also mentioned the same about his lunch. RECOMMENDATION(S): Again, the food is NOT bad, it's just bland. If my review were based solely on the servers and the food presentations, I'd say the place is a must. But if you want a good and flavorful lunch, I'd pass.

Unfortunately, there were a few drawbacks. There were quite a few flies, and at times there was an unpleasant odor that resembled strong cheese and animal waste, which took away from the overall dining experience. The food was decent but not particularly memorable. The chicken and waffles looked great, and the fried chicken was very large with a flavorful, crispy batter. However, the chicken itself had an unusual flavor that wasn't my favorite. The waffle seemed as though it had been sitting for a while before being served--it was cold, somewhat squishy, and lacked the fresh texture I was expecting. We also ordered a waffle and bacon for the kids, but the whipped cream that was supposed to accompany it was forgotten. Service was another area that fell short of expectations. Guests are required to walk up and place their own orders, then wait for the food to be brought out. For a restaurant that presents itself as a more upscale dining experience, I was expecting traditional table service. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience, and I'm glad I gave it a try. While there were aspects that didn't meet my expectations, the beautiful outdoor setting made for an enjoyable visit. That said, I probably wouldn't return, but I'm happy I had the opportunity to experience it.

My friend from Modesto told me about this spot, and I immediately wanted to try it. I actually planned my drive around this pit stop, which was just a short detour off the 99. My brother got an egg sandwich on a brioche bun and he still can't stop talking about how good it was. He was particularly impressed with the brioche bun. We also got the blueberry french toast to go, which I didn't anticipate traveling very well, but it did and holy shit, it was fan-freaking-tastic when I ate it that evening. I can't even fathom how incredible it must be if eaten fresh. This place was so cute inside and clearly had an intentional aesthetic direction.
