Went twice during my trip to Florida. First time was great! Ordered a black coffee with stevia and skim milk and the barista steamed the milk first! It tasted so good I was excited to go back. Went back today and first off she had prepared an iced coffee which was 100% wrong. I told her and she made a hot coffee like I ordered. Did not steam the milk. And though I asked for a stevia in it, she put a Splenda in it. I asked if she put stevia and she said yes, but I am 90% sure it was Splenda and not stevia as I saw a yellow packet and not a green one. I guess depends on who you get how your experience is going to be. EDIT: Business owner passive aggressively responded to my 3 star review above saying I came only to say the "bad things" -- no, the first visit was great and I made that clear. The second was not. I'll go ahead and change it to a 2 star review since you're a business owner who refuses to own up to problems with his business. Business owner says "If the barista corrected the coffee" then why get a bad review? Dude, come on. If I pre-order a coffee for pickup and it's wrong, that is definitely going to lose you a star. Let me know what color your stevia packet is and I'll update my surety of getting the wrong sweetener. read more

The Carmela Coffee Company is a chain of coffee houses that began business in 2018. Currently there are only two locations, here in Pompano and one in Parkland but they will be opening shops in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. They also have a food truck. I was looking to get some sustenance for a day after Christmas shopping spree. The coffee shop is very warm and inviting. They have some high top tables, low tables, and couches to sit on. The interior colors are warm wood punctuated with pops of turquoise. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. I decided on a cappuccino and a prosciutto and Swiss cheese croissant for $14. The coffee was absolutely delicious. On their website you can see a photo of the Cuminate Farm in Costa Rica where the coffee is grown. What really separates this place apart from other coffee places I have tried is the care and presentation taken with the food. My croissant was beautifully plated and came with a reduced balsamic vinegar sauce that elevated it beyond your basic sandwich. The price was a little high but worth it for the quality of the food and drinks served. This was a great place to plot my shopping route while enjoying a delectable breakfast. I'm glad to see more coffee shops in the Pompano Beach area. After looking for a place to meet a friend, I found Carmela Coffee Company. The place has a very relaxed vibe, the accommodations are a bit tight but it looks visually pleasant. I can see them grow into a bigger place. My friend and I visited during a weekday and I was surprised to see the place was packed. One would think a weekday isn't as busy, but hey, they must be doing something right! And yes they are. The customer service is great at this coffee shop. We were guided on how to order and I got a few recommendations from the barista. I wanted to try something new so I risked this first visit by trying something very different. I ordered a lavender latte. To my surprised it tasted as if I was drinking lavender. I have to confess I didn't love it but mostly because I realized I don't like drinking "flowers" lol. I must come back and stick with a more classic flavor. I ordered an empanada to accompany my drink and the empanada was delicious! I could've eaten more but I came here in between breakfast and lunch...I have to come back for breakfast or lunch next time. The prices are affordable and fair. I will come back for more! read more

Visited Carmela again a year later and it was just as amazing! This time we tried the toasts and they were delicious...and beautiful presentations! Tons of options for gluten free and vegan diets. Their t-shirts are super soft and only $12, so we bought a shirt as well. Highly recommend! read more

I decided to stop here on a Saturday around 12pm, it was a little busy but not terrible. They had 2 employees running the front and it seemed to be a little too much for just the 2 of them. But anyways, I ordered the burrata and prosciutto avocado toast, it was good - but too much avocado for my liking I took a lot off because it's a bit overwhelming. I loved this place! We only stopped in for coffee and dessert but plan on returning for breakfast or lunch... the menu is that appealing. The guy behind the counter was friendly and accommodating. He made the prettiest latte with design for my friend. And it stayed in place until almost the end of the cup. She said it was very good, too. I'm more of a tea drinker cause when I order decaf it's usually awful -- either swill water, or just too bitter to enjoy. And I really do like coffee flavors. I took a chance and asked if I could get an iced decaf. Sure. No problem. Most places if they even have decaf after 1 pm, it's already pre made with sugar. He made my iced decaf from scratch. He even added in the cream for me. And I added in my Splenda to taste. It really was one of the best coffees I've had in an age. Their coffee is from Costa Rica by the way. They've only been open here about a month, but they have another store in Parkland. We shared a piece of cinnamon cake. A rich dense moist pound cake like base that was also absolutely delicious. The service was good, I did not have any wait in line but the cafe was full today (only about 4 open seats available inside for me to choose from). I knew I wanted smoked salmon and most places only offer the Lox, with a bagel so I was surprised to see there were 3 different smoked salmon options. I was able to take my time with the menu as it was my 1st time here. The atmosphere was very calm and welcoming. Everything went smooth, I did not have to wait even a while 10 minutes for my order, and the toast was soooo fluffy and good. What a difference between locations of this coffee shop. I have to say, we love this one. The Parkland location is more convenient to me, but not worth the drive over there. I found the service a bit aloof (even frosty) so after a few visits I wrote them off. We had an errand every Saturday morning in October which took us right past this location. When my husband spotted it and wanted to stop, I said no, let's not. But he was driving and its drivers choice, so we stopped. I'm so glad we did. This place is warm, welcoming and friendly. The seating area is very inviting, the lighting is nice. You want to sit and stay awhile. I enjoy the coffee very much. My usual (iced latte, 4 shots) is smooth and delicious. I've been getting it with oat milk which is a wonderful, creamy change of pace. I'd like to try something else, but I'm too crazy for the latte! I wish I could remember the name of the pretty young female barista who has waited on us and prepared our drinks each visit. She knows who she is. She contributes to the atmosphere here and I hope her bosses know it. She should be giving some pointers in hospitality to the Parkland location. read more

I've been wanting to visit our neighborhood Coffeehouse for some time now, (well at least as long as it's been since my wife's 5 star review a year ago, shortly after they opened)! So glad we stopped here for lunch! The Yelp Takeout Week: Elite Perks promotion to support our local community eateries, is such a great idea! The Breakfast and Lunch offerings paired with their delicious Costa Rican Coffee is such a treat! I ordered the Prosciutto Open Face Toast , ( Prosciutto, tomato, ricotta and chives) along with a small coffee. My only regret was that I should have ordered a Large (or extra large) coffee...it was that good! Some pleasant interaction with the ladies at the register and our orders were in. A look around the Covid Compliant interior, ( they also have three tables in the shade outside), we selected a high top table to wait for our order. Within a few short minutes our coffees were delivered and I took my first sip ... WOW! WONDERFUL! DELICIOUS! Within 5 minutes our sandwiches were delivered and were as beautiful as well as they were delicious! The manager, Ana, stopped by to check on us and to make sure we were enjoying our food. Such a pleasant person to chat with and her personality certainly adds to the welcoming and friendly ambiance! If you have room left, order a slice (or two!) Of their Cinnamon Cake! Is the first time that I stop in this place and the last. I order food. They didn't tell me there was 15 minutes to close, and they just give me my food to go and took the things from the table. I told them they should've let me know they was going to close and it was only to go and she told me she can give me a couple minutes. Tried the vanilla frap, an iced coffee, and Americano - all well made! Ordered the iced coffee to be lightly sweetened with soy and it was perfect. Lovely atmosphere inside, with chill music to boot - felt so relaxed while enjoying my coffee and reflecting on the trip. There are also plenty of seating options outside. I really like this location better than Parkland because it's so much closer to my house, and also the parkland location is a little hard to find. Their food is always delicious and the coffee is perfect! This time I got a salmon avocado toast, and a latte with coconut milk and a shot of the chaga, which is a mushroom infusion that gives you lots of energy and is full of nutrients. They have a wide variety of milk alternatives to choose from, but coconut is always my number one go to! Love this place, for a Sunday brunch with the girls or for a date! Always a great experience!! If you've never had mountain bread, it's absolutely delicious. I ordered the Prosciutto and Burrata Avocado Toast. The avocado is fresh, lightly seasoned, and delicately smashed. The Burrata was delectable. It was nice and creamy, served with light olive oil and crushed black pepper. The prosciutto was fresh and flavorful. The toast had the right amount of crisp, and was the perfect base. This dish tasted as exquisite as it looked. The coffee was robust. They use coffee beans from Costa Rica. They offer a variety of different milks including: oat, coconut, almond, and more. Service was fantastic. The coffee and toast were served quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering. The staff members were personable. The interior is vibrant, well decorated, and welcoming. Ifrequent the Parkland location often... So I wanted to check out their new location. There are flags out in front on the roadway saying Carmela's so you cannot miss it. There is plenty of parking. If you are headed south the restaurant is on your left hand side. The place feels more open and brighter with all the glass windows. It makes for great day dreaming as you gaze out. There seems to be maybe some additional items on the menu in this location. The decor is nice, and the quality of the coffee and food is great! They have tables and a seating area with two leather couches, as well as outdoor seating. This would be a great place to host a party, or as they had this past weekend a car show out front. I will definitely need to split my time in between the two locations now, or at least order to go for when I am at my office! Enjoy! read more
