about 45 minutes during Christmas week around 10 PM with no reservation, which honestly impressed me given how busy it was. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving smoothly. Most of the food was flavorful and well portioned. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the chicken marsala, but everything else we tried was delicious. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for a late dinner in the city. Would definitely return and recommend, especially if you're looking for a solid spot in Times Square with great service and a fun vibe. read more

Located off W 44th street in time square where there are plenty of foot traffic and plenty of activities and stores nearby. The place had a very vintage atmosphere with all the black and white pictures hanged up all over the restaurant. Our waiter Chen was very helpful by giving us a handful of suggestions based on what our preferences are. He also informed us that the whole restaurant is family style so everything should be shared. Caesar Salad($32.95)- I would say this is one of the best Caesar salads I ever had, everything from the richness of the dressing to the cheesy croutons were very good. The slight anchovy taste was also a nice surprise. Chicken Saltimbocca($38.95)- I would have preferred the chicken thighs over chicken breast since it was dry. The sauce was a little bitter and the spinach added a little earthiness to the dish. Shrimp Parmigiana($45.95)- Nicely breaded jumbo shrimp that was served over a light marinara sauce and covered with a layer of mozzarella cheese. Little Frankie Blue Eyes($8.00)- Very tasty non alcoholic drink with blueberry, pineapple, ginger beer and soda that was not overly sweet. I would suggest trying this place as a group because family style is a lot of food and this way you can try a variety of dishes. If you go here, get the cheesy bread appetizer before your meal. If you didn't get it when you were there, go back now, like right now and get it, it's that good! Presented on a 3/4 Cookie sheet with about 8 pieces of Italian bread smothered in melting cheese, garlic and other spices. The highlight of the meal, really. The wife snd I shared ONE dish of the chicken Parmesan and we had over half a plate let over, it was really big. The parm was tender and the sauce was Carmine's own recipe of fresh sauce and spices. Love this place while we are in New York as it never disappoints. Hack: Make reservations but if you did not like us, just hover around the bar area and wait for someone to leave and grab their chairs. We have done this twice now and it works! Enjoy! read more

Carmines was a place I visited as a tourist when I was a teen, a place I visited as a college student living in the city, and now two decades later, a place I still visit with my kids when we are in town. Although located in a very touristy area, we have always enjoy the vibe, staff and food at Carmines. It's a place where you go for decent Italian, and super large portions! The calamari and Ragu on our recent visit was great and the Sangria was a thumbs up too. read more

As a native New Yorker, I tend to stay away from tourist traps. Seeing that Carmines was only one block away from my play, I thought why not give it a try? After all it's been around forever. The energy of the restaurant is nice and the server was great, but the food was pretty gross. Jarred sauce and boxed pasta tastes better than what they put on the table. They should be ashamed of themselves and I wish I could get my hard-earned money back. We left everything there and that should've been a big hint to the server of how bad the meal was. What a joke calling that eggplant Parmesan. Yuck. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to go after watching a show/ performance. This place always makes me feel like I'm at my Zia's house having dinner during the holidays. I love their food and their portions are incredible! The prices aren't even high for the amount of food you get. Bring a group and order one thing each, believe me you'll have enough to share and for lunch the next day I will always love Carmines! Delicious authentic Italian food. Yum! read more

Food was good. Probably the best marinara sauce I've had in a very long time. This restaurant only offers family style, so it'd be perfect for a group of 4 or more. If you are just a couple I wouldn't recommend it unless you have the ability to store and reheat your leftovers. If you staying in a hotel this is an expensive, waste of food and money. It's unfortunate they do not allow one to order a single portion dinner. They will also aggressively try to upsale drinks and dessert which are also family style and way too much for one or two ppl. read more

Believe the hype. Great service from George S at the bar. A dozen excellent baked clams with toasted breadcrumbs and plenty of garlic butter for $31.95. Delicious- with complimentary focaccia bread for dipping in the butter sauce. A great Senza Spirito mocktail for the wife $11 and an ice cold Perino draft $9. Finished with an espresso- hot and comfy. Only disappointment was only one non alcoholic beer - Oduls which is horrible stuff, the manager should get Perioni NA beer. read more

I thought me and Carmine were friends, but then he tried to kill me with food (the portions here are bananas). Like I assume everyone else that ends up here, we were in the area to see a Broadway show. This isn't something we do regularly, but we had some friends in from out of town and it was a good chance to play tourist. (Our waitress asked us where we were from though, and was very confused when we said Brooklyn.) This is a tourist spot for sure, but it's also a huge space that feels like a New York institution. The menu is massive, and so are the plates. It's actually the opposite of how I usually want to eat. I normally want to be able to try as many things as possible, but despite having a party of eight, we could still only order a few items. We rolled with: The Caesar Salad. It was MASSIVE, and delicious. A literal mountain of salad, and they brought a school of anchovies on the side since some of us didn't want them on top. The only drawback is that we ate most of the salad, and were actually already full before anything else came. The Hot Antipasto. We may has well have ordered giant blocks of cheese melted over seafood and then poured into our mouths. This platter includes Mussels Fra Diavolo, Clams Casino, Eggplant Rollatini, Stromboli with Prosciutto and Ricotta, Fried Fresh Mozzarella, Vegetable Stuffed Mushrooms, Cacio e Pepe Arancini, and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. It was not nearly as pretty as the photo on their website, but it was a HUGE portion of pretty tasty items. We brought most of it home in one box, and I ate it for a week. The Penne Alla Vodka. A classic. You know what it is, and it's delicious. They did it right. The Chicken Parmesan. Another classic, but to be honest with you, it was a little disappointing. Not as fresh and crisp as you want, but it mostly hit the spot. Combine all that with a complimentary bread basket, and a few martinis, and I left as full as I've ever really been. If you're stuck in Times Square, you can do a lot worse. read more

After seeing Hell's kitchen, the Broadway show nearby, we decided to get dinner here. Unfortunately, if you don't have a reservation, you have to go on the list and it was over an hour Wait. There's not really an area to wait so you have to stay outside or by the takeout area. But they do have you squeeze in to leave room. It was super packed that night, which I'm pretty sure it's like that every night since it is in Times Square. It's pretty big too. Once we were called, we were sat upstairs. It has that old Italian feel with the white linen tables, chandeliers, and groups of people. Our server was very nice and welcoming. She gave us a rundown of the menu. The menu items are family style so if you get an order, it's great for four people . We didn't let that stop us from ordering lasagna and the pasta a la vodka. Needless to say, we have plenty of those leftovers as there was four of us at a party. You must get the vodka pasta. It was so good. I had like three servings. They also give you bread for your table and it's plentiful Their Cabernet was great, but it wasn't in your traditional wine glass. The espresso martini is a must with the Baileys. Great food in massive portions. Nothing beats family style, especially with a group of 10 dining together. This staple Broadway Italian spot never disappoints for food! My drink was also excellent. Service was very slow, the restaurant was packed as usual. While I can excuse slow service for most unusually busy restaurants, a staple Broadway spot should have this down to a science by now. Our waiter was great, friendly, and memorized everything with no errors (aside from completely forgetting the dessert, never charging for it but also never actually bringing it). Overall, an easy recommend. Just don't expect to get in and out before a Broadway show, come after the show when you have no time limit! read more

I had bookmarked this restaurant on my Google Maps for when I visit Time square. We got there without reservations and were told it will be 15 minutes, well we sat at the bar and enjoyed a cold beer and final after 45 minutes I had to get the greeting desk call our name. The food portions were huge and from a distance it looked amazing, but once it served the truly laced flavor. I think they focused on the quantity with another quality food. The calamari, overcooked and dry, the view was also dry and mainly bread coated. The lasagna was mainly pasta with little sauce. The waiter was trying to upsell the wine claiming that they didn't have the bottle we wanted. All and all a tourist trap. read more

We had an amazing server, he was so helpful and explained the menu so well. He asked if we had a broadway show and helped us put in our order faster because of it. The Chicken Scaloppine w/ Lemon & Butter was good and fed a group of four. We even had leftovers. The chicken was not dry at all. The meatballs were not to our liking, the texture was very sandy. It tasted very cheesy, and would be better for someone who likes cheese. If it came with more sauce, maybe we could've smothered away the grainy texture and cheesy taste. I could barely finish one meatball. It was very crowded inside and I would constantly hear the happy birthday song from almost every corner of the restaurant. Hands Up and Down!!!! I experienced the best veggie pasta that I have ever tasted for now, right here! It was conveniently located in Manhattan in the mix of everything. Allow me to note a few things: Family friendly check! Family portions check! Worth money check! Everything here is served big and I mean BIG, like TX BIG. The serving plated seemed to be about 18", I would say and nothing but fresh flavorful veggies in a homemade marinara sauce. I can't say enough about it. The staff were very courteous and seating was fast. Although there was a lot of traffic, once seated it, takes the edge off the large volume of patrons. The ambiance is very new yorker, packed! Reservations are definitely encouraged, especially in Times Square. We were celebrating my son's birthday. Truly recommended, big portions, to share with family, the Chicken parmigiana is the best, the drinks are superb! The limoncello spritz is great as a dessert, as is the espresso martini. Truly a great experience! The service was great! Hostess to our waiter's attention was always on point. The food was delicious and glad our waiter gave us the rundown of how to order. My first time here and it is very family oriented. Many parties of families only, which makes a lot of sense since all their dishes are family style and very big. Very Italian with the big dishes. I couldn't even finish mine with one more person so I got it to go and they give a nice reusable tote bag! It's not some simple paper bag that would just break on your way home, which always happens to me. I got the spaghetti with chicken parmigiana and it was really good! The server said this dish serves 4 to 5 people and it was definitely a lot. Spaghetti was very good and was not overly drenched in marinara sauce. Chicken was easy to cut and very tender. Besides that I got garlic bread without cheese. Did not realize that they are not long sticks and were just toasted loaves of garlic bread. Very oily and garlicky! They were so good! I got also the Frankie "Blue Eyes" blueberry lime soda and it was so good! Very fizzy and addicting. I was craving for more when I finished it. It was so good. My daughter got the Little Louie's Lemonade and it wasn't that great in my opinion. It was just very strawberry and sweet with a somewhat thick consistency. Not really my thing. My daughter did not really drink it either. The server gave us one plastic branded Carmine's cup of water for her to drink but did not give me a cup of water. It was just one cup of water only for my daughter. I thought I would have gotten a cup for myself too but I did not. Ambience is very homey and classy. Very dimly lit and classic Italian furniture and dining tables and chairs. White cloth and clothed stainless steel knives and forks. There are bouquets of flowers and many historic photos of people everywhere on the walls. Did not get to try the wine menu but they have an extensive list I would like to try if I were in a bigger group. I guess next time I will get one of their white wines with a bigger group. read more

When in New York, Italian food is a must, so when my friend & I met up with my cousin & his wife, they treated us to Carmine's, where it is a total family atmosphere. The service here is top notch all the way & the ambiance is fun, exciting, & festive. The food is served family style & it's fun choosing what entrees to have. We had linguini with marinara, a veal & spinach entree, stuffed mushrooms, drinks, & they presented me with a strawberry shortcake birthday treat that we all shared, as it was huge! Everything we had was so delicious & our waitstaff was amazing! My cousin goes here a lot & I see why. This is a GREAT place! This is my 3rd visit, 2nd to this location. This is a nice place to dine family style. Has a great 1950's feel. Service was nice, place is always clean. Very busy and lively, reservations are recommended. I come here because my partner likes it, but if I'm being honest the food falls short for me. We had the spaghetti and meatballs ( not enough sauce for so many noodles ) chicken parmesan and penne alla vodka , The flavor is kind of bland, nothing amazing in my opinion. Absolutely everything about this establishment screamed 50s jazz. I perfect romantic atmosphere due to the low lighting and formal dining. Easy to get into without a reservation and large seating areas. The food is family style which allows for many amazing leftovers for the following days. Huge portions, family size. We got the pasta bolognese sauce it was amazing. Garlic bread was good, got half with cheese and half without- I recommend without, just personal preference. Decided to stop here and on our way we saw an unfortunate accident where a man tripped on uneven pavement and landed awkwardly breaking his arm. My group were the only people to stop and see if he was okay, then having to call the ambulance and waiting for them in the middle of Broadway and Times Square during commute hour. We definitely worked out an appetite. Put our name on the list and was told it would be a 30 min wait however after giving our phone number we got a text our table was ready. Well that was fast! Was seated and the server offered recommendations and talked us out of ordering too much food. Decided on the calamari which were super tender, the fried zucchini which just melted in your mouth and the spaghetti and meatballs. The complimentary bread had four different types. We were recommended Carmine's by a friend who had been there before. The restaurant itself is very roomy and comfortable. Everything is served family style. So the portions are HUGE! We had the fried zucchini which was way more than my husband and I could even eat half of. We then shared the Pasta with Vodka sauce. It was really good. Again way more than we could eat. The service was fast. The only negative I have in regards to the service is, we were sitting at a high top in the bar area and our waiter kept trying to talk us into getting stuff we weren't asking for. Every time we ordered something he was like a used car salesman and tried to steer us in a different direction. Coming into Times Square is always a nightmare but Carmine's is a staple. This place has been here for decades. I still remember coming here when I was in high school. If you're looking for a restaurant that can accommodate large groups, decent food, and affordable prices, this is your spot. Everything is family style and family portions. The food is exactly what you'd expect it to be. There's no surprises here. Given it's in the middle of Times Square and around all the Broadway Shows, this place is crowded. And unfortunately the upstairs table we had was pretty hot. Overall there's a reason this place has survived throughout the years. You're not going to get a meal to write home about but you also won't be leaving hungry. read more

It was appearing that our 7 pm was just a suggestion but the bartender was fun to watch and it wasn't too long after that we got a table. Our waiter was so helpful as I didn't realize that everything is served family style. And a party of two could have had a lot of food left over. Even sharing a salad and an entree we had food left over. We met fellow diners next to us and had a great conversation. Fun night! read more

Carmines is always a great option. From fantastic service, to delicious bread that's served while you wait for your meal, and high quality food, Carmines is one of my favorite places to eat at while in NYC. Highly recommend their Caesar salad. The dressing is incredibly rich, savory, and full of flavor. And the portions are enough for at least 5-6 people to have a full plate of salad. I would say if you're coming here, don't go for the typical Italian dishes. Like what I mean by that is don't go for the ones you can easily make it home; like spaghetti Bolognese. It was very average. However the chicken parmesan was perfect. Carmine's is a great place to go if you need classic Italian food that you know is going to be decent enough to fill your belly on a day when you've been running around the city and need to refuel. It's built for the family as we Italians are all about family haha. So everything is shared family style and it's enough for everyone to get a piece. Had an amazing experience here and would definitely recommend to others. There was a long wait, but seating is open at the bar. I tried the shrimp with red sauce and penne noodles as well as the salmon with muscles and clams. Both are obviously very large portions and can be split in a family style set up. It would make for great value for birthday dinners and celebrations. The espresso martini was top tier. I love that they confirm whether you would like it sweet or not. We enjoyed our dinner here. It was complete chaos upon arrival. Even with a reservation it was challenging just to get inside the restaurant to our table. Our server was friendly but very distracted by his many tables. This is a four star review based off the flexibility of swapping our dinner. We ordered the pasta with vodka sauce but it was so heavily salted. Honestly, I couldn't even eat it. We ended up switching our main entree to the bolognese pasta. This pasta was perfect, and not sodium loaded. The portions are massive so it's possible to order one dish and share for the entire family. On 5/17/19, My family and I were headed to NYC to celebrate my mothers 62nd birthday. We booked reservations at Carmines on 44th street weeks in advance along with a show we were attending after dinner at Radio City. Unfortunately, our evening was impacted negatively by the "manager" who was working the first desk at Carmines restaurant. Not only did she show us no hospitality she was very dismissive. We had a 5:00pm reservation, due to an accident on the FDR we realized we would be running a bit late and called in at 4:30pm to inform the restaurant that we are still coming but will be late, we were told by Zach that it's okay we will be fine & still be seated. We arrived around 5:40pm. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Adele who was not polite but actually very dismissive, she stated that we will not be seated until around 6:45pm and that the restaurant was filled to capacity with no empty tables available. We told her that we had called in prior to our reservation to inform that we are still coming and was told that we would be fine. We explained that our show at Radio City starts at 8pm and that 6:45 would be cutting it too close. If the restaurant was so packed we should have been warned when we called in not told that we would be fine. With no empathy or hospitality she let us know that it doesn't matter what was said over the phone with Zach the employee we spoke with standing beside her, silent. As we waited a few minutes, a gentleman named Michael (white male), with a party of 5 came in late like us, stating he is late, with a 5:30p reservation.. it was now 6pm, he asked how long will the wait be.... Adele the manager said to him, "give me a minute", 2 minutes later his party was called. Hearing this, we addressed Adele asking why was Michael who didn't even have to wait 5 minutes get a table so fast when we were just told the restaurant was packed to capacity? She said we heard wrong as she tried to insult our intelligence, my mother whose birthdays we were celebrating said, are you doing this because we are black or something? She replied sarcastically saying yes that why, her sarcasm enraged my mother and there was a back and forth, Adele called her security and told them "Get them out of here". Seeing what was going on from the beginning one of the employees/security said he would get us a table, this trigged Adele's ego and she yelled at him and told him absolutely not I said get them out, We took her name and position and we all left. I'm aware the restaurant business can be tough especially running a restaurant in the middle of NYC on a Friday evening. But this is the business you chose to be in. We gave a courtesy call, we were told everything is fine and we'll still be seated. The way this situation was handled was embarrassing and unprofessional. I don't plan to EVER dine at this location again & I'm sure to you, Adele it doesn't matter but I hope for your careers sake you figure out how to handle situations like this in a manner than doesn't make your customers feel less than because that's how we felt yesterday. It was a typical trip to New York. We were going to see the lion King. Whenever we see a show (Or do anything in New York City for that matter) me and my family always eat at Carmine's. Always. So we decided to try someplace new. We went to a different place. And for a big bill and mediocre food, we wrote this place off as no more than a novelty restaurant. We went to see the show, and afterwards, guess what? We winded up having a second dinner and cheesecake at Carmine's. I have so many family stories and traditions involving this place over the years. It's honestly incredible how you can get attached to a place so far away. There's nothing more comforting than being inside that restaurant. The ambience is amazing. Downstairs, there are a lot of old pictures on the walls of this restaurant, and just pictures of around New York City. And I think the upstairs is even more beautiful. Large family dining tables are scattered all around, and velvet curtains, and red carpets surround you. There is nothing wrong with this place. If you come here, you will not regret it. I eat Italian food very often, but this is always the best Italian food I've ever had. If you come here, you will not regret it. Every entrée comes in a large platter so that you can all eat it together and split whatever you want. There are so many amazing dishes on this menu, but let me just sum up my favorites. The calamari is crispy and chewy and the marinara sauce is always seasoned just right. The chicken Parmigiano is honestly one of the best things you could get here. It's cheesy, has a deep, rich sauce, and is cooked perfectly in my opinion. My all-time favorite item on this menu is the penne vodka. Like I said, each, and every menu item comes in a large dish so that you can all share it, and this is the best one. You take a big spoon, and pile it on your plate, and then dig in. It's amazing. Flavors and seasonings are balanced perfectly. The tiramisu is fluffy, and not too soggy. Espresso flavor is rich and chocolate flavor is balanced nicely. The cheesecake. You could honestly write a whole book on this one. It is honestly one of the best desserts I have ever had. And I spent two weeks in France. The crispy cooked part at the top tastes like a very delicate caramel. The interior of the cake is very fluffy yet structural. And the best part, not too sweet. And it is a very familiar yet unique dessert. Now, the service! Give my girl Chi a raise! She was so friendly, and was very focused on her work. Even at 12 AM. All of the waiters and waitresses make you feel like family. This restaurant has always managed, even after a long day, to keep us smiling and bring my family closer. I would like to start by saying this is hands-down the best place to enjoy dinner in New York City if you're craving a family-style Italian meal. The portions were incredibly generous- our bolognese could have easily fed twice as many people- and yet the price was shockingly reasonable for Manhattan. But here's the thing: as amazing as the food was, it wasn't what made this place unforgettable. What truly set this experience apart was the service. Our server, Micah, is easily one of the best I have ever encountered- not just in New York, but anywhere. The restaurant industry is one of the hardest and most thankless jobs out there, with long hours, demanding customers, and little room for recognition. And yet, even at 10:30 pm, Micah was a light. He was attentive without being overbearing, genuinely funny, and his recommendations were spot-on. At a time when most servers would understandably be running on fumes, he made us feel like we were the only table that mattered. That kind of heart, especially in a city that never sleeps, is rare- and it deserves to be acknowledged. Micah elevated my NYC dining experience in a way that food alone could not. The hospitality industry is built on people like him, who go above and beyond and often aren't given the credit they deserve. If anyone at this restaurant deserves recognition, advancement, and yes- a raise- it's Micah. On top of that, I have to say: the lemoncello tiramisu (a limited-time dessert here) is hands-down the best tiramisu I've ever had in my life (of which was recommended by our server). The bolognese? Also the best I've ever tasted. And the ambiance was perfect- welcoming, vibrant, and surprisingly quick. We were quoted a 30-minute wait but seated in under 20. They're even open late enough to grab dinner after a Broadway show, which is rare and such a gift in this city.In short: the best food, the best service, and the best late-night atmosphere in NYC. Yes wonderful place. The service was wonderful. Although I've got to say, my wife was too good at breaking open the lobster. She was bragging about it and it was off putting...almost Hulk-esque. In fact my friends ended up texting me about it. I tried talking them "off the ledge" but they wouldn't budge. I actually got into a huge fight with my wife. She tried telling me it was no big deal. I said no. How dare you crack the lobster like that and cuck my friends. They all felt like little boys. She was so mad but it was so messed up. I was yelling at her for maybe fifteen minutes before she flipped the table. Shoutout to Derek and crew for the painless cleanup. Five stars! My little boys were also very impressed by the magicians and their bottomless mint grab! The boys had so many mints that they got a little sick. And when I asked them they wouldn't talk to me. But I started to really hold them down about. I'm not strong enough so they broke free but then I got my husband Terry and he got a good hold of them. At that point they started cracking up and we all agreed the mints were terrific. Terry got a little too much about it but the boys didn't seem to mind whip as a good sign. A few months back the boys actually told their teacher Mr. Sullivan about how Terry became too physical during a wrestling match with another parent. The parent was inappropriate and Terry was only being supportive of our boys but the other parent was running their mouth about us. So I actually told him hey make sure you give them a little shit from us. Unfortunately Terry took it too far and the wrestling match got cancelled. My boys started to get upset and their teammates have been making fun of them. So I went to the parent meeting about it and I yelled at coach Sullivan. We took an impromptu trip to NYC so we didn't know where to go or make any reservations. We happened upon Carmine's after walking through Times Square and seeing the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. When we first went in, the doorman let us know that it was reservations only but that we could eat in the bar area if we could find a table. There was standing room only, so we decided to try another place, even though the atmosphere seemed friendly and the bar looked very well stocked. We walked around a few minutes and the surrounding area was even more crowded and none of the menus looked as good. My husband said, "Let's go back and wait for space at the bar". I am so glad we stuck it out! We went back in and almost immediately, 2 seats opened up at the bar. The bartender was so skilled and fun to watch. He was also very helpful, telling us to share and entree and appetizer. His drinks were also amazing. We ended up ordering the Garlic Bread, nine thick slices topped with garlic and herb butter and the Chicken Parmigiana, pan-fried breaded chicken cutlet topped with melted mozzarella and served over marinara sauce. It was so amazing. My husband ended up eating 4 pieces of garlic bread before the entree arrived! The herb butter was so flavorful. You could tell it was made with fresh herbs. The chicken parm was just as good. The bartender was very attentive even though he was extremely busy with not just bar customers, but the surrounding bar tables as well. We never had to wait long for another drink and he remembered what we had previously ordered. Next time we will make those reservations and plan our trip around them. Been here a couple of times, once with just the significant other and more recently with both families. The food was a lot more manageable with the group than when it was just the pair of us, despite how much he can eat! Carmine's is indeed "family style", which means the portions are enormous! It looks expensive on the menu, but each order gives you enough food for at least four people, if not much more. You could easily feed 8 people on $100 if you know what you're doing. I will warn you about the garlic they put into their food: it's a lot of it. This wasn't a problem for any of us as we love garlic, but we know it's not for everyone. And it was in everything we had that night, with the exception of dessert. There were about eight of us, and we had the following: ravioli with cheese, rigatoni with meatballs, fried calamari, and (you guessed it) garlic bread. All of it was amazing, if overly filling. Despite all of us digging in, we still had to take some of it home. The only food-related complaint was with the meatballs, but I'm picky about that. They were soft, but not as crumbly as the ones I make, which I prefer. Still, they had a good flavor. The dessert was also great. Despite being stuffed from dinner, the dessert menu looked too good to pass up. We all had cappuccino or hot tea of some sort to go with the tiramisu and Italian cheesecake we got. No complaints here, except it was overly filling once again! I would give it five stars, but the wait was pretty awful. Took us over an hour to get seated, and then another hour before our main course was delivered to us. The hostess was very good and we did not feel neglected at all. I very nice Italian Family Serving Style Restaurant. Right in the heart of the Theater District. We initially had sticker shock when looking at the menu outside the front door and saw how much a "meal" costs. But with some reluctance we went inside, and to our surprise, we were seated immediately. We really had no understanding of "Family Style", and we ordered spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and a mixed greens salad appetizer. Our waitress asked how many others were coming. We said it is was just myself, my wife and my 6 year old son. She very politely informed us how much food we had just ordered and asked if we really wanted to order everything. She easily saved us $30 and we still didn't finish the salad or spaghetti/meatballs. The spaghetti and meatballs meal can easily feed 3-4 adults. I just felt the waitress went beyond what she needed to give us great service. That means a lot in my book and earns extra respect bonus points. Seems like a great restaurant for large groups because you could sample many different things. Prices weren't that bad (by NYC standards)when you realize that your total is divided by the number of people in your party. Again, can't say enough about how nice and polite the staff was with our visit. We look forward to returning on our next trip back to NYC. read more

We had the most incredible experience at Carmine's in Times Square during the absolute madness of Christmas week, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing server, Jocelyn. We were a table of eight, and from the moment we sat down, Jocelyn handled everything with ease, warmth, and total professionalism--even with the restaurant packed and buzzing. She made us feel welcomed and relaxed, never rushed, and was so personable that we found ourselves chatting with her about her time working at Carmine's. Despite being newer, her confidence and knowledge were beyond impressive, and every recommendation she made was spot-on. Our courses were perfectly timed, our table was always attended to, and not a single detail was missed. What really stood out was how genuine she was. You could tell she truly cared about making our experience special, not just getting through a hectic holiday shift. My husband and I had dinner last night. Once we sat down and looked at the menu we realized that this was the same restaurant we went to in Las Vegas inside Caesars Palace. We really didn't like it at all in Vegas so my husband and I were going to go somewhere else. The bartender Deidra was so nice and convinced us to stay for at least an appetizer saying that she has heard from so many people how the food was not even close to quality in Vegas as NY. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and meatballs as an appetizer. They were both amazing!!!! My husband hates mushrooms but the stuffing was so incredible I made him try the stuffing which then he proceeded to eat the stuffing out of half of the mushrooms. We then decided to stay for dinner. By far one of the best Italian dinners we have ever had! Thankful that Deidra convinced us to stay and hopefully someone will look into the other locations to insure the quality of food is consistent. Just after dinner another couple sat down next to us and said the same thing about Vegas. The food was amazing but better than the food was the service!!! Deidra definitely made our day!!! Carmine's Times Square: A Disastrous Dinner for 20 We recently hosted a large party of 20 at Carmine's Times Square, and it was an absolute disaster. Despite spending over $5,000, the service was abysmal and the food was inedible. The biggest issue was the timing. Drinks took over an hour to arrive, and then all of the food came out at once. They literally piled plates on top of each other, making it impossible to eat anything. The food was cold and soggy, and it was clear that they weren't prepared for a party of this size. To add insult to injury, they were supposed to bring the food in courses, but that never happened. It was a complete mess, and we wouldn't recommend Carmine's to anyone. If you're looking for a good Italian restaurant in Times Square, I highly recommend Bond 45. They are much more professional and their food is delicious. Overall, our experience at Carmine's Times Square was a complete disaster. The service was terrible, the food was inedible, and the entire experience was a complete waste of money. Carmine's is a great Italian restaurant in Times Square, NYC with huge, family-sized portions. We came here on Easter Sunday with reservations and it was packed. We were trying to be seated earlier, but we were seated much after our reservation time. The place was huge, so many rooms. We were led upstairs and through several rooms before we were seated. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, penne alla vodka, and the lobster fra diavolo. The fried calamari was delicious. The texture was perfect, not too crispy and not too chewy. The penne alla vodka was good, the kids really liked it. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was jaw-dropping! It's massive in size and was loaded with lobster, mussels, clams, and shrimp. We chose linguine for the pasta, but barely ate it after filling up on the seafood. The seafood was really good. The menu said the price was P.A., but for us, it was $205. Service was a little lacking and unattentive. All of the workers looked really busy, but we were able to get the things we needed. We really enjoyed Carmine's and would recommend it if you have a large party. read more

I don't like to review places but I felt that Carmine's needed to be reviewed. I went in on Sunday Night for dinner with my family. We had to wait for a table, we decided to have a drink at the bar. Elvira was great and very pleasent. Gave the kids extra cherries for thier Shirly Temples. We finally sat at our table.. Place was noisy, could not hear the music. Our server was great also (could not remember his name) The spagetti meatballs and the chicken parmigania were great. Now the big problem. The restaurant was extremly hot. Yes they had celing fans on but they provided little relief. Asked to speak to a manager about why it wwas so hot. After about ten minutes someone named Carlos came over and was extremly rude about us asking why it was so hot in there. The place was busy and it felt hotter inside than out side. Carlos said that there is nothing he could do and walked away. Never asked how everything else was (this is why I felt that I needed to review Carmine's) I do not reccomend this place because of the tempertature inside the restaurant and the RUDENESS of the "manager" read more

I read that this place is very similar so gave it a shot since it was also close by time square. Overall, I had a good experience. I got the porterhouse for 2 and it was more than enough for my kids and I. The mashed potato's and thick cut bacon were really good too. The only nit pick was that the steak was cooked a little bit more than the medium I asked for. Still tasted good though and i wouldn't hold it against them. Our server was attentive and I'd give him high marks. For anyone looking for a higher quality steak experience in NYC, this should fit the bill.

A nice touch was when the waitress found out it was my birthday, without being my asked she added a sparkler candle to my dessert and 4 of the staff members serenaded me by singing Happy Birthday... and theirs voices were lovely (probably Broadway actors). This consisted of the following shared items: A huge pull-apart dinner roll with delicious lemon butter A black lentil salad with some kind of small heirloom carrots and a fabulous orange vinaigrette A garden greens salad with Roquefort cheese, lardons, and a little orange fruit that looked like cherry tomatoes and tasted like heaven. Artichoke Tempura with bearnaise sauce - perfectly cooked and I thought they were tasty even though I don't really like fried things very much. We were already full when our entrees arrived but we valiantly did our best. Sea bass with fine herbs and a verjus beurre blanc and salsa verde was good. We Loved the fresh herbs and the fish was perfectly cooked. If there was a less stellar than the others dish, it was the ricotta gnocchi with Aleppo pepper, honey nut squash and pecorino sardo. This dish was merely fine, not outstanding. It did improve when we asked for salt. Dessert for me was a fudge delicious brownie with Carmel sauce, whipped cream, and cocoa nibs that was out of this world. My friend is unable to eat chocolate so they relaxed their strict no substitutions policy for the prix fixe menu and gave her the fruit tart. The pastry was super delicate and all the parts worked well together. The waitstaff was friendly and understanding and did not rush us. The room was full of light and greenery and very welcoming and the noise level was very low. We wanted to take some food home because it was just too much for us to eat and they gave us a claim check for it and kept it in their fridge until we were ready to go so we didn't have to find a place to put it on our table. Service - generally very cordial, but felt we were being pressured to order alcoholic drinks. One person ordered wine. Two of us do not drink, and despite our politely saying more than once that we did not want drinks, the waiter repeatedly tried to cajole us into ordering drinks. And as noted by another reviewer, one person ordered sparkling water, the rest wanted still/tap, but all glasses were frequently topped up with the bottled water and a second large bottle was brought out immediately without being requested. Value - the pre- theater menu was a very good value. Considering going back to try the brunch, regular dinner menu, but was definitely put off by the seeming pressure to order drinks.

Loved it!! We started with the focaccia bread and it was delicious! I had a white pizza and it was inedible. The garlic on it overtook everything. (And I love garlic.) My daughter had the Arribitta pasta and said it had no flavor. This should have been a spicy, flavorful meal. The waiter was kind and asked about our food intake. I shared the feedback and he did offer to remake my pizza. At that point I just wanted to get out of there. I was very disappointed he did not take anything off the bill. We paid over $110 for a meal that we only ate the bread. P.S. They had a DJ playing fun music, but it was just too loud. (We were there early, at 6, not late night when they music should be booming.)
