DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well let's see, WHERE do I begin. Let's start with SAVE YOUR MONEY. I hired this company that I found through Groupon and they were able to come out the next day. The company came while I was not at home during the day (BIG MISTAKE). Got home, and they had cleaned my upstairs carpet, downstairs basement, and was supposed to clean two couches. The upstairs carpet looked decent enough. My main level couch had a brown stain on one of the throw pillows that they were able to remove. I still noticed several stains on the couch that were not removed. When I checked the basement my husband noticed that the corners of the carpet still had dust and debris from work he had done the previous day. So apparently they don't clean the corners of the carpets near the wall??? Ooooook. So I checked my other couch in the basement and the cushions still had basic food stains on them that should have been easily removed by a PROFESSIONAL cleaning company, right? Anyway, called back and spoke with owner, Kevin, and he initially stated that he had no problem sending the guy back out to redo the remaining stains. Sounds great right, well........... like a month later, still no appointment. His receptionist/mother-in-law, did call maybe twice after several UNRETURNED messages to attempt to set up a redo appointment. The only times they claimed to have available were 11-5 windows. Unacceptable. I explained that I would not do anything other than the early morning appointment because the first appointment with this company, they were about 2 hours outside the quoted time for the window, which then caused my couches to still be soaking wet by the time my family and I returned home. I will say the receptionist has a pleasant and professional attitude but is horrible at returning promised phone calls. I think that is kinda important when you have a business. ANYWAY, I decided to call back AGAIN today and see if I could maybe get a morning appointment sometime this century. At this point I figured they were playing the run around game to deter me from setting another appointment and to just forget it. Besides at this point they had my $300.00 right? So I left a review with the BBB about 2-3 weeks prior to FINALLY getting a follow up appointment, explaining my experience. The other review that was listed under their business was also rated a ONE and apparently I can see why. So I set the appointment for Dec 1, when my first appointment occurred if Im not mistaken, sometime in October-2 months later. About an hour or so after finally getting an appointment with their very particular staff schedule that doesn't work on Mondays and doesn't come to Woodbridge on Fridays because of traffic, (oooook this is the DMV area there's traffic ALL THE TIME just an FYI Carpet BOSS), the owner Kevin calls. He proceeds to tell me they will not be doing the redo of the half a## job they did because I lied online about his secretary. LIED???!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why on God's green earth would I have any reason to LIE. Im going to take the time out of my LIFE to write a fake review on a company and LIE about a company I have no dealings with ever and choose to LIE about my experience. It was so ridiculous I had to just laugh. So that is how Carpet BOSS (biggest stretch of a word I have ever seen) chooses to do business. So the owner Keven decides to not do business with me because I told the truth about this slack company. But he wanted that money before hand right?? And now you aren't "doing business with me?" Instead of being professional and asking what happened and what HE/HIS COMPANY can do to correct the situation and have me do an updated review on how they rectified the situation, he chooses to tell a customer, whose money was clearly already in his pocket, ummmm you lied so we aren't going to actually do the job you PAID for. I really didn't want to sign up for Yelp just to make a review, I've been upset by businesses before but never wanted to go through the process. But, this business was SO HORRIBLE. And, like most people say, if I could give them 0 stars I would. I should've read the Yelp review before I picked this place to get my carpets cleaned, but I really was just looking for the cheapest place...after this experience I'd rather pay more than to use them again. As part of my lease, I had to get my carpets cleaned at my old apartment before I could move out - so I didn't really care how "well" of a job they did - because it's not my place. I made an appointment for Monday between 2-5. The lady that I scheduled it with told me the cleaner would call before he arrived. Around 4:20 I had heard nothing & was worried they forgot about my appointment so I called the office - no answer. Left a message. At 4:45 pm the cleaner guy calls me to tell me he's stuck in traffic & would be there "no later than 6:30". I get it, traffic sucks around here. I was annoyed, but understood. When 6:30 comes I hadn't gotten a call yet, so I'm assuming he's not at my old place yet. I give him a call & he tells me he'll be there in 30 minutes. I don't really believe him so I wait until 7:15 to call again (because again, no call back/update of where he is). I call 3 times & he doesn't answer. I call the office (that's supposed to be closed) & the lady answers & says she'll call him for me. After I hang up with her I receive no call/update for 20 minutes so I call her back @ the office. She said "oh, he was supposed to call you, I just spoke with him" & I ask, "what's going on? Where is he?" & she only says "I'll have him call you back & tell you". 10 minutes later & still no call from the guy (& mind you, I had still been calling him with him not answering me). Finally, I had had enough & called her back around 8. I told her, it was too late, it was getting dark, and I didn't want to be in my old house by myself with a stranger while it's dark. I told her, this was the last day of my lease & the last day my carpets could be cleaned. I was FURIOUS. Luckily for the company, my landlord was nice enough to give me an extension since no one had moved in yet. She told me I would be handled first thing in the morning between 9 & 12... I call the next morning to make sure my appointment is still there & she tells me it's now between 10 & 2 because they were already busy. Seriously, a FOUR HOUR window when I've already waited ALL DAY yesterday to get it done?! I had to take off work 2 days in a row to get this fucking taken care of. The guy ends up showing up around 11:30 & didn't call me before he was there (which I had specifically told her a MILLION times the day before to call me because I was not at that apartment). So, I get there & there's a sketchy van with the window clearly broken off & covered with plastic wrap. I didn't see a guy in the front seat at first & was looking around thinking, where is he? He was laying back sleeping in the driver seat... When I go to pay, I don't get offered this to be taken care of, any sort of discount or ANYTHING. Granted, I paid a LivingSocial for this, but I should be reimbursed for my troubles. This cost me 2 days of work & endless amount of stress for 15 minutes of carpet cleaning. There is no doubt that I will call LivingSocial & complain to them - because giving specials for businesses like this makes them look just as bad. This could've been resolved if the guy calling me hadn't been CLEARLY lying to me the whole time. There's no way it took him 3 hours from wherever he was to get to Arlington. & if it was going to take him that long, he should've told me. I get traffic gets bad here, but he was clearly lying. I purchased a $99 Groupon for carpet cleaning for 1200 sq. ft. I couldn't have been more pleased with Carpet Boss's service. Their staff was prompt, courteous and very professional. They took the time to explain their cleaning process to me, and what I could expect. I'm glad I didn't let the negative Yelp reviews dissuade me from booking them. Stop the trains and NEVER hire this vendor. He's nothing but a con artist the way he operates his business. He lures customers in through a coupon (Groupon for me) and then jacks up the cost by creating bogus 'new' conditions. Here's what he did to me: After I offered to arrange for him to park in my building's loading dock, he tells me there is a $20 apartment fee for inconvenience. Never once did the booking agent ask me if I lived in an apartment even thought I spoke with her 4 times. He surveyed my two rooms and said there would be a $10 up-charge for each room since my carpeting was berber, the cheapest general contractor installed stuff there is. And then there was another up-charge for heavy traffic areas. I protested, and said all I want it the work that the groupon offered and he refused saying that I would not be happy and give him a bad review. Quite clever of him. He then said he'll refund my Groupon too since he doesn't negotiate. But, after spending 2 hours removing the contents of my two rooms and closet for him to clean, he has you over the barrel. It was a very unpleasant experience and if I hadn't already spent so much time prepping my place before he arrived, I would have sent him packing. He's a crook and unethical businessman. If it was possible to even give this place zero stars, I would. I work as a nurse, and agreed to go in late to work after scheduling a carpet cleaning from my rental home. Like most other jobs, it's not that easy to just skip half of your day, but I tried to make it work. I was moving so I made special arrangements to have the carpets cleaned after the movers left. The gave me an 8-11a slot which was "guaranteed". At 11:45, fed up by standing in an empty house waiting, I called. They stated that the technician had double booked himself and that it would be yet "another hour". I highly doubt it would've been that short with the rate things were going today. It Doesn't Get Much Worse I too learned about this place through Groupon, and against my better judgement (my husband always reads reviews and insists I do the same), booked them for an appointment to clean my sofa. I never would have thought that a worse job could be done for what seems to be a standard service - these guys are outstanding for all the wrong reasons. 1. Poor Scheduling - I was given a window of 11am - 3pm on Saturday. I called routinely just to check in around noon, and 2pm, but by 3pm (the end of my time frame), no one had come. I called the receptionist, who had to put me on hold to confirm that they were, in fact, running late. When I pressed her to give me a realistic arrival time, she said it would be at least another 2 hours. I couldn't wait anymore and had to reschedule. They were closed the next two days so no one contacted me, despite my requests for an exception due to the inconvenience. I had to remember to keep trying back the following week to reschedule. 2. Poor Quality/Work - When the technicians came, I gave them bottled water, turned on music, and did whatever I could to make them feel comfortable and do a good job. They were done after what seemed like 15 minutes. I didn't realize until after they were done that the services were not up to par at all. For one, there was soap/solution residue stains in multiple locations around the sofa on my hardwood floor. There were very pronounced footprints from their shoes, also imprinted on my floors (I spent the whole next day cleaning). Additionally, and I don't know how this is possible, there was an abandoned piece of equipment lying around the area after they left. The actual couch was the worst part. Instead of making it cleaner, it actually got worse. The couch still smells musty (we hadn't cleaned it in awhile) except now it is coated in a heavy, chemical smell. There are even areas of the seats that are rough and scratchy, a far cry from the soft, plushy material of the couch. It is unbelievable. I can't even sit on my couch now without being nauseated by the smell. 3. No Concern for Clients - I called the company back to express my disappointment on the work that was done and ask if there was anything they could do to clean the couch to a reasonable standard. After some negotiations, the manager agreed to come out and try a few things to make it better. However, I would have to wait at least 10 days since his schedule was 'fully booked.' Despite the long wait, I agreed. On the day that they were finally supposed to arrive, I waited again throughout the 4 hour window. Surprise! No one came. When I called, the receptionist advised that I was never even in the schedule after all. I cannot believe how little regard this company has for its clients. They really don't care. On top of all these things, I almost forgot to mention that they up-charged me by what seemed like an arbitrary amount since my sofa was large for its size. I didn't mind the fact that there was an additional price, just that I wasn't sure how they came to the number - it was over 40% more than the amount I had paid. I was willing to let this go just because I was so happy to finally have my couch cleaned, but I always question it when the pricing isn't clean cut. The only positive about this company is that the receptionist is very empathetic and understanding. Unfortunately, this does not translate into any difference in service or results for the clients. I think Carpet Boss did a great job! I got a groupon as a gift from a family member to have the carpets cleaned and was excited to use it. I was called about an hour before my window and told what time to expect them and they were right on time.Kevin and his assistant did a great job and were very friendly. I didn't know the groupon didn't include the stairs but after looking it up that seems pretty common for carpet cleaning that stairs are extra. I ended up paying extra to have the stairs done and I was glad I did. It was a great deal and I had a great experience. read more

Terrible experience. Avoid at all costs. Was scheduled for them to come out between 12-4 - no one showed up, and no one called me. I called THEM at 4:30, was told they would be here by 5:30. At 5:30, I received a call saying they would be here by 6:30. When they finally arrived, I asked if they could do the stairs instead of a room, they said it would be $40 extra (the groupon was only $39), so I declined. The two guys yelled at each other while cleaning, and left boot prints all over the carpet. Also, despite being two and a half hours late, (not to mention I was waiting around from 12-4), when I asked for a discount or an extra room cleaned (or at least the pet treatment they kept trying to upsell at $29/room), all they offered was a discount of $15 on the pet treatment, which I didn't want to begin with. I just had to be refunded my money from Groupon for attempting to use this company. They changed my scheduled appointment with them twice, and when I tried to reschedule for a third time they did not answer their phones and would not call me back. At that point, I went onto the Groupon website to try to get ahold of the company, where they had already marked my voucher as "redeemed" (at 10:45 in the evening) when in fact they had not cleaned my carpets. They charged a 6% fee for using my credit card, extra fees for my "different" type of carpet, an extra fee for living in a condo building (um, they parked in a loading dock and took the elevator directly to my apt - didn't have to climb a single stair). Yet there's NO mention of these extra fees anywhere in the Groupon language. Gouging, nickle-and-diming a first time [last time] customer? Way to go Carpet Boss. If you can't afford to do Groupon deals then don't do them. It seems this business only seems to get customers through Groupon. At first I had them scheduled for a Friday morning and I totally forgot to call them to reschedule since I had to work. When they called that morning they said they were outside the apartment. I felt super bad but they said I could reschedule which I did for the following Thursday. After wasting two whole days with having to call them several times and no one showing up we still don't have our carpet cleaned. The entire town of quantico is on a base so I assumed when she said okay to my address they knew that. So when they called the second day over an hour late we were understanding because bad days happen, but all they needed was a drivers license to get on base but neither technicians had one on them (Not sure how you're driving a business van without a drivers license) and at that time they decided to let us know they don't do business on military bases...after they were able to come before and after they already redeemed the Groupon. I wish I looked at the reviews on yelp instead of the ones on Groupon and maybe I could've saved money that is now wasted. read more

The technicians were very friendly, but... first off, I naturally expected a good vacuuming before they soaked the carpet. Had I know that they weren't going to vacuum, I would have done it again myself before they started. They used very old equipment with poor suction that left the carpet very wet. As it would happen, I used a consumer steamvac to pull out almost an entire gallon of water out of the carpet. That gallon of water was very dirty. The rugs were not cleaned at all, just wrapped in plastic and sent back. This company is the worst - impossible. We purchased the whole house cleaning from Groupon and it is essentially a bait & switch. There is no real discount, because a thorough whole house carpet cleaning still will cost around $400. We paid $187 for a move-out cleaning and were left with numerous stains and dust in all corners. Carpet Boss offered to come back out for an additional $210. Our property manager did not believe we'd even cleaned the carpets at all and intended to pay for a cleaning himself using our security deposit, so we ended up hiring a different service for $420 anyway. So the $187 was a total loss, as well as the time organizing and overseeing both cleanings. read more

Next time we will stick to our normal service area because people like you don't appreciate our time or efforts I will post a pic of your contract since you said we didn't show up after a hour and 20 min drive for $39 and we were only 20 minutes late because of traffic. You had a 12 ton appointment they arrived a little after 4 and the techs called and gave you an arrival time. My response to the business owner... When I called on Monday I requested any day before thursday not same day service. You told me you would be in Frederick on Monday anyway so you would schedule me for monday. Then your people called me after the scheduled appointment and said since the person in frederick canceled they wanted to move me to Saturday. I explained I was looking for service by Thursday then you rescheduled me to Wed. I wrote my original review at 5pm an hour after my scheduled appointment. They miraculously showed up at 7:15pm when I was told between 12-4 so they were 7.5 hours late to be exact if anyone is lying it's you about false arrival times. Secondly, your groupon price was $39 so if that's an issue since you quotes coming so far for that you should change your groupon price. I have no problem with the guys who did the carpet work they were very nice and did a great job. My problem is with the customer service and scheduling. I missed 2 events I was supposed to be at wed because I was expecting the promised time to be 12-4 and it didn't happen until after 7 and I think potential consumers should beware of this when doing business with you. You said you would charge us $150 to do the pet treatment and my husband told me, and I said no. You said well if we decide to get it done, $150 is our price for next time for the inconvenience. All you did was shampoo the carpet, which your company did an excellent job on. But to get on yelp and lie like this is extremely unprofessional. You did not have to pick up any feces and you did not offer anything free for arriving almost 2 hours after our time slot. I should not have to call your office to get a update on the whereabouts of the technician. A business is suppose to contact the customer and provide me with updates if they're going to be delayed. My appt time was from 1-4pm. I shouldn't received a call at 5:15pm. Your 20 minute service was great, however your customer service is awful. read more

Kevin called to reschedule while we were waiting for them to arrive. Our entire house was moved aside to allow for rugs to be cleaned, so I did NOT want to reschedule. He honored the scheduled time and they did show up and were very pleasant. My issue is the effectiveness of their system. I don't think their machine cleaned very well at all. The pile on the rugs was still fully dented where furniture was - no change at all. Some of the dents still had particulate (big pieces of dirt) in them, so they could not have been extracted at all. They did not vacuum rugs before treating them. Thankfully I had vacuumed, but I also expected that they would vacuum as a first step. I paid for pet cleaning in most rooms. I was very disappointed in how the rugs looked when they were done. They did not look as if they had been cleaned at all. Pile was not brushed up at all. I have rugs on top of some burbur carpeting. The burbur pile was completely flat where the area rugs had been. Not pulled up at all. Stains remained. Pet smell was still very strong in pee area I had pointed out. None of the rugs actually looked any cleaner or different than before they started. So...I took out my Bissell and steam cleaned AFTER them. Surprise ! The stains were taken out right away. The smell was extracted. The pile perked right up. AND... the water extracted from the just cleaned carpet (same day) was FILTHY !! Their system DOES NOT CLEAN. I would never use them again, even to come out and redo a poor job. Kevin and his team were nice, but I did not feel they were great at what they do. The helpers brought dirt in with their work boots, and then repeatedly used the soles of their boots to 'scrub' the carpets....including my very valuable oriental carpet. I did not appreciate the rough workboot scrubbing, especially since the boots were dirty. I had to clean up the entry after they left, they brought in leaves and dirt from outside with them. Nope, never again. I went online last night and bought myself a Bissell Big Green Machine so I don't have to go through this again with 'professional' cleaning. Oh, and of course there were several hundred dollars of extra charges on top of the $99 Groupon I used. I expected that. PS: I received my new Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine yesterday and used it to redo the job Carpet Boss had completed. Carpet boss was here on Monday. Rugs were truly dry on Wednesday. Rugs were thoroughly vacuumed on Friday. Saturday I used Big Green and redid the CLEANEST room in the house, our bedroom. Which we are not currently using (awaiting new furniture), so it has not been dirtied up over the past five days. Result: the dirty water coming out of Big Green was FILTHY. Very deep dark brown with particulate of sand, dirt, and other fluff. Very very dirty. When I clean my carpets myself and go over them a second time, I may get beige water, but never deep brown water. This is just verification that Carpet Boss machine does NOT clean. Not at all I am afraid. I will have to redo the entire house after them. Dang. read more

My over all experience was that I felt that I was mislead and that the company was very unprofessional as far as answering the phones ( I got the full VM most of the time), returning phone calls, giving out false and conflicting incomplete details of the process and what they do and don't do. I say this because of the following: First the company was very hard to get in touch with in order to set up an appointment. Then I was told that my appointment time was b/t 10 and 12pm. When not one arrived by 10 I began calling and reached the VM twice. I left a message and did not get a return call until after I called for the third time and told them that I was going to contact groupon and ask for a refund and complain. 10 minutes later I received a call and was told that they will get back to me. Once my call was returned I was told that my appointment time was b/t 10am and 2pm. I let them know that I was not told that and began to confirm other details. I asked about the drying time and was told conflicting drying times. The initial call said 8 to 12 hours and the one on my appointment day said 1 hour. I was not told that they do not move electronics or other pieces of furniture when I asked while setting up my appointment. Once the workers (which were very nice and professional) arrived in a regular unmarked conversion family van they began to unload the van. I asked if they were insured and where was the company van? He just said yes they were and that the owner hadn't brought one yet. Once they began cleaning they proceeded to walk across the cleaned portions of the rug with their boots on and no shoe covers. Mind you they were traveling back and forth in and out the house the whole time. I asked about it and they said instructed me to walk around with my house shoes and no outside shoes and to be sure I'm not tracking any dirt in. I then asked them about padding for my couch legs b/c they were wood. I was told that they would put foam down to prevent the moisture from messing up the wood. After they left I saw that they put actually put down torn up pieces of a flyer and game box and that they only placed them under the legs in the front of the couch not the inside portions ( kind of defeats the purpose right?). As they were there I looked up the company and the groupon deal and it said that and I quote from the groupon ad "Technicians pull up in Carpet Boss Restoration's truck, which houses the hot-carbonated steam cleaner that blasts away dirt from carpets and upholstery." Overall the carpet came out looking pretty nice. once it was dry it was a little rough in some areas, but it seems like they were able to get the heavy traffic area clean, which was important to me. Again I want to stress that the workers were very professional and I have no complaints about them other than walking across the cleaned floor with their boots on. read more

So not professional, was provided a window of 9am - 3pm received a call tried to return the call and got no answer. Tried the office left a voicemail no response. Called the office at 2:59pm I was told they would call the tech and see what happened? Got a return call and was told tech had left the area because no one answered the phone. Was told by young lady on the phone they would have to rescheduled me, I shared I had waited for six hour window and felt like I needed a smaller window for my business, because I had been home and the tech should have showed up or provided fair time for a response time for me. I waited six hours. I was told that would not be possible. Shared my frustration to no avail. About 5 minutes later I received a call from the tech Kevin, he stated that I was wrong in what I told his office, I disagreed and stated that I was paying him and he was not paying me! He stated he was calling to get me straight. I laughed and proceeded to laugh even louder in the phone, after all this was a groupon and shared that I would be pursuing me fee I had paid for the lack of service his provided me. I was told that did not matter to him, he was in high demand. He makes over 1/4 million a year and this call meant nothing to him. I laughed again and shared if I ran my business like this I would be out of business, but I did understand the groupon scam to overbook and then up-sale folk for other services or they don't pursue the refunds when they don't make the calls they overbook. Kevin said gas was too high to come out without the answer of my phone. Although he makes 1/4 of a million he is concerned about gas? I am done with this unprofessional organization and Mr. rich Kevin. I would not recommend them to clean my door mat of the porch. read more

My dog has been sick and I can't begin to describe the condition of my carpet except that I took the cheapest route to have it cleaned before I decide that I definitely need to get new carpet. These guys came in and I cannot believe the job that they did!!! MY CARPET LOOKED BRAND NEW!!! The deodorizer they used freshened the whole house. Family-owned business, which I love to support. We hired Carpet Boss Restoration after purchasing a Groupon to do our move-out carpet cleaning for a 2-story TH. We unfortunately had several clay stains on our white berber carpets due to a careless moving company, and he had no trouble completely removing them. He was fast and efficient, and I will definitely be hiring him again at our new house. The only small issue I had was that when I scheduled I was not informed it was not a firm appointment time, but rather a "window" of 2 hours. So I had to wait around for a while, but all is forgiven as the owner was very friendly and did a great job. read more

I have always used Stanley steamer for my carpet cleaning. They do a fantastic job but the price is outrageous. I found carpet boss through amazon local and thought I'd give them a try. A lot of carpet cleaners charge for everything possible, these guys came and there were no hidden fees. They were straightforward on their price and that is rare for carpet cleaners. But they were extremely friendly and did a fantastic job. I'll never use a high priced carpet cleaner again! I'll continue using this company and they also offer hardwood refinishing. read more
