But Gus has the special attachments and easily cleaned the stairs. Now. Other companies cannot clean it and left the stairs still dirty after cleaning. Reliable, does work as specified, owner is reasonable and cooperative. The whole cleaning staff worked hard all day (carpets, bathrooms, walls) to get everything clean for a rental. I would hire again before any other. If I had any quibble, some of the cleaning staff is not knowledgeable about the chemistry of cleaning, and used the wrong product on some tough stains. read more

I was referred to Carpet Wizard by my landlord, who used them for both professional carpet cleaning and home cleaning before I moved in. For the 866 sq ft 1-bedroom condo, it took Gus and Karen 4-6 hours to complete the full cleaning and they charged my landlord $380. When I was ready to move out a short 4 months later, I gave them a call to schedule just the home cleaning since the carpet was getting replaced altogether by a different company. On the day of the appointment, Gus and Karen arrived 15 minutes late and, after a quick walkthrough of the place and acknowledging that they've cleaned this place only 4 months before, told me that the home cleaning alone would take TWO DAYS and cost $380! I was flabbergasted (this is the first time I have ever used this word in my life and I can't imagine a more appropriate situation for it). I've dealt with a fair share of cleaning services across several states because I've moved 5 times in the last 5 years but NEVER have I ever heard of any cleaning taking 2 full days, especially with a 3-man team and for a small 1-bedroom that is COMPLETELY EMPTY (as in, zero furniture and zero things). On top of that, when I expressed my surprise that the cleaning quote alone was the same as what my landlord paid just a few months ago for both the carpet and home cleaning, Gus dismissed it and said he would pull up invoices for recent cleanings (which he never did) to show me that this is what they normally charge. In the ensuing back and forth, he mentioned something about rising gas prices, how it is difficult to get the hose up to the 2nd floor to clean the carpet (irrelevant since I'm not getting the carpet cleaned), how the soap scum on the glass shower door would take a long time to clean, and that they normally would charge $160 just for the kitchen and bathroom. At that point, I asked if he could do just the kitchen and bathroom for $160 and be finished today and he said yes. Seeing as how cleaning the whole unit was going to take 2 days, I figured cleaning the kitchen and bath would take at least 2-3 hours. But no, they were done in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Besides the kitchen and bath, there is literally only vacuuming the carpet, cleaning a few windows, and wiping down the windowsills and baseboards. How in the world those remaining items were going to take another 1 day and 23 hours and cost me an additional $220 is a mystery to me. However, I will say that, though speedy, the kitchen and bath are as clean as I expected. Gus, Karen, and the third person whose name I didn't catch are also friendly to deal with. If only the pricing was honest and fair, this would have been a 4 or 5 star review. But because of this terrible first experience with them, I will never call them again or recommend them to my friends. read more

In short, pleased with the work but not with the communication. The job was reasonably priced, and well done -- including cleaning up a pet stain that had been there for years. But his communication in the beginning wasn't great, and he couldn't tell me how long it would take to dry. I was also not pleased that he didn't give me a choice of chemical vs. wet, and didn't advise me regarding either. He just did it. He also took up my time asking about my mobile devices, trying to figure out whether they would help him in his job. I found his rates to be among the cheapest in town. Called the Carpet Wizard and my call was returned within the hour by Gus, the owner. He provided an estimate based on my description of the work needed. I appreciated his honesty with making sure I understood it was an estimate based on my description of the condition of the carpets/fabrics; he let me know often he arrives and finds more work is needed than originally described. He arrived at 9AM as promised and did a walk thru to confirm the estimate and how long it would take. The price we were charged was consistent with the quote, and based on other places I contacted, very fairly priced. Gus completed the work within 2 hours. Our living room looks great, and the love seat no longer smells like our dog. We had 2 carpets (10 X 14 and 8 X 10), one chair/ottoman, one love seat and a chaise cleaned. I was surprised how quickly everything dried. We were back in about 5 hours later. Gus does the work himself, so when you book, you know exactly who will be coming. Gus and Martin came within two days of my call. They managed to work around my 2nd floor condo unit by running the hose to the truck parked down below. Super nice, friendly and did the job as agreed upon, at a good price too. The carpet looks great. I took off one star only because of the way they quoted me. I wanted a rough phone estimate before agreeing to the job, but instead they said they would come on Sunday morning, give me a quote, and if I agreed, they'd start right then. Not really ideal because, c'mon, who's going to move all their furniture to prep for carpet cleaning and then say, "actually, I changed my mind?" Well I suppose some people, but I wasn't really down with that. It's a smart tactic, but it felt a little manipulative. But it all worked out. Plus they were able to start 1/2 hour early! Carpet Wizard really worked their magic in my daughters room. We had not had the carpet cleaned in a few years so it had heavy stains from lord knows what. They offer Sunday appointments which is wonderful, pricing was the best I could find. The owner is very honest and nice. When he saw my daughters carpet he said he may not be able to get all the stains 100% out but he would do his best. Once he was done there was not a stain on the floor. 1/14/19 - Gus and his cleaning crew came out to clean an older rental for me. The tenant was not happy with the cleaning, and neither was I. Carpets still had an odor after pet treatment and I had to call in another cleaning company, who said the treatment was never done. Re: cleaning, he used to have wonderful people cleaning for him. As of this past year, I was having to call him and his crew back several times and it was still not clean. I am so sad, as I have used them for years. Before using Carpet Wizard, I tried to save money by renting those portable machines at supermarkets or Home Depot. I moved into my new condo 3 years ago and never had my carpet professionally cleaned. I had food stains, heavy foot traffic, and a red stain from a cheap area rug i bought from walmart. MY CARPET WAS CLEANED TO PERFECTION. my only recommendation is to have your carpets cleaned in the morning. I was moving out of my house and wanted to take care of cleaning the house, repairing the carpet, shampooing the carpet, wash the outside of the house, power wash drive way and walk ways and light clean the gutters of visible debris. I just moved to a 1 bedroom apartment, the carpet was such a mess. The previous owners had dogs, the place was trashed. I thought I would have to replace it. I called the Carpet Wizard and Gus was able to squeeze me in the following day. He came saw the job and we decided to go ahead with it. He has all the equipment to be able to reach my apartment on the second floor, I was amazed at that. He even dealt with my nosy neighbour. We have wall to wall carpet over hardwood and pad in the hallway and master bedroom. The carpet had not been cleaned for a few years and showed it. We had two concerns: that the hardwood wouldn't be water damaged by the cleaning, and that there be no fragrance or chemical smell after cleaning. Gus assured us he would use a minimum of water to get it clean and there would be very little smell afterwards. He gave a reasonable quote, so we agreed and he got to work. There was no smell afterwards. We set up a number of fans, opened the windows, and after a few hours the carpets were pretty dry! By the next day, they were fully dry! Extremely happy with the service we received! We called looking for a last minute, same day service of an entire apartment (including 5 rooms and a hallway - dining room, two living rooms, and two bedrooms). On the phone we were quoted 28 cents to 35 cents per square foot depending on how soiled the carpets are. We ended up paying $225 for the entire apartment which is a great deal compared to other steamer services which quoted around $300-350. He texted us when he was on his way and arrived when expected. The carpets had lots of dark spots, pet stains, and a big rust spot that we thought couldn't be fixed. However, at the end the carpets looked incredible, almost brand new. Had a coupon in the "Grapevine" and when I called to get an estimate the person on the phone told me that the coupon was old and they were no longer offering that price... I told her that the grapevine had just come in the mail and she still refused to offer the price. I then called the grapevine and let them know about this company and what had happened.. She told me that she would let the person who is over the advertising know and that was terrible for business. She also told me that this carpet cleaning business was under new ownership. If it were my business I would offer the special price this one time and let the customer know that my rates had increased. This has to broken out in two parts: First, five stars for the actual cleaning part. They were able to clean up all the spots - including the pen ink lines - on my couch. Second, no stars for the customer service. I set up an appointment a day in advance, after calling to get a quote. They showed up an hour late (traffic apparently) AND I had to call them to figure out where they were. Strike one. Then when he looked over the couch, he tried to bump up the price quoted (by two separate people in two different phone calls) by $55. I had to bargain him down. Strike two. Then as I gave him the check he tried to twist my arm - figuratively - to go online and write a great review, but not to mention any names and no prices. And mentioned multiple times how I got a great deal because they basically cleaned one couch (it was a two piece sectional) for free. It was so bad that even the electrician working in the garage said something about it after they left. Strike three. It would be 2.5 stars averaged together, but I'm going to round down because the whole experience was icky. read more
