Last week we went for marsala and a chicken and pasta dish. Everything looked good but, what is with the salt? We worked our way thru it but by the time we got finished the salt was so overwhelming we had to drink a half gallon of water at home. I know there was taste under that salt covering because we've had those dishes before. I don't know if the salt is incorporated in the food prior to prep or if they just dump a jar full on it before serving it? read more

The new stuff looks nice but overall it lost a lot of its charm and character. It has a more modern vibe now rather than a warm, Italian vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted quickly and followed the host to our table but he was bathed in so much cologne it was hard to breathe walking behind him. And once in a while he would come by and wipe down some nearby tables and leave a cloud of cologne lingering in the air, which was unpleasant. We started with the Aroncini appetizer, which was pretty good but underwhelming. We also got the lentils and sausage soup, which we have always loved in the past, but this time was really lacking flavor and we had to add a lot of salt to it to make it taste good. We also got the shaved cheese in the soups, but the cheese just ended up melting into one big clump that got stuck to our spoons. I don't think it was Parmesan cheese, it tasted much more mild. My husband and I both ordered the Johnny Trio. I ordered my steak rare and he ordered his medium, but they cooked his well done. They ended up remaking his steak and also gave him some free mashed potatoes and fettuccine Alfredo with it, which was really nice! It just took about 10 mins. The manager offered to box up our leftovers which was nice, but he did not scrape all the mushrooms on the plate into my box. I am a huge mushroom lover and will never leave a single mushroom behind, so it was sad to see him walk away with my plate that still had a few mushrooms on it. The server was really nice and attentive. Overall I would give the experience 3.5 stars. read more

Outrageous Wait! Planned a special Dinner for my mother's Birthday , so we decided on giving our local Carrabba's restaurant a second chance. For we had a terrible experience a few months ago waiting for our curb side pickup a few months ago. We had ordered online 5 hours before and we ended up waiting 25 mins for it to be brought out to us. We never got an apology or any offer to compensate our wait. Well we figured maybe we caught them on a bad day, so we decided to try them one more time. Well we surely regret our decision! We waited 50 minutes this time! the car running to keep the air-conditioning running because of the heat . We had companying waiting at home for the food. We had ordered it 6 hours ahead of time and yet it took almost an hour for them to get our food. Again no real apology or an offer to compensate our long wait. Well I can tell you this! we will never order from this restaurant ever again! And I suggest no one order from this restaurant for curbside pickup unless you like waiting for your food. read more

Once again we ventured to Carrabba's for dinner and the food and service, as always, was very good. I had their steak and my wife had a salmon dish. Both were very tasty, but my steak was over cooked a little, but still very tasty. Shrinkflation has hit hard at this place, as with other eateries. Their early meal deals are really not any less expensive, they just eliminate/restrict what you get (sides and portions size) between certain hours and call it a deal (?). For a pretty decent early meal deal, including one glass of wine and no dessert, the bill was $80. Ouch! We'll be back, but only after we save up and/or sell some stuff. read more

I've never had a worse experience here then tonight. Didn't even stay for dinner, finished an appetizer that was not even hot (shrimp scampi). We were seated in the bar area & the kid playing bartender took forever to get our drink order & gave my wife the wrong beverage & took super long getting her the correct one placed it on the bar & had us get up & get it. We arrived an hour after they opened & we told after our appetizer came that they were sold out of minestrone soup so my wife asked how they could be sold out they just opened. This place has really gone down!! I've been going here for years but now the soup taste like water and our waitress was extremely rude!! She turned her back on my grandma as she was talking, kept saying she'd get our drinks never once did any of our drinks get refilled only the water. The manager never came over to address any problems and at the end was passive. I'm extremely disappointed this was our families favorite place to meet as a group and do celebration, and now we won't be returning sadly. My friend and I went to Carrabba's in Mesa tonight. We got there at 6:18 and we were seated right away. Gilbert was our server and he was very attentive and knowledgeable About the menu and could answer all of our questions. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and my friend had the shrimp and scallops combination. My pizza was loaded with pepperoni and was excellent. Her dinner had mushy scallops, and when she told Gilbert he didn't hesitate to recommend another dish with shrimp and scallops that was delicious. He took the bad one back and brought her the other one. If you haven't been to Carrabba's yet, give it a try and enjoy yourself with a good Italian meal. If you think about it, ask for Gilbert. I don't like to write negative reviews, but this experience needs to be stated for improvement of this establishment. I've been to this restaurant about a 1/2 dozen times. Always satisfied for what to expect from a chain Italian restaurant. This experience was way different from beginning to end. 1/2 full weak cocktails, lasagna with meat sauce that had no meat and very little cheese. Fettuccine carrabba with very little sauce. Olive oil dipping sauce for the bread ran out half way through the loaf never to be refilled. I'm done complaining and will not return to this establishment. read more

Tonight my family celebrated a birthday at Carrabba's. The food was great, but service was so slow. They are definitely understaffed. This seems to be an unfortunate situation at a lot of places these days. Our waitress was very apologetic for the wait on everything. The food we ordered: Mezzaluna, Classic Carrabba's Trio, Lobster Ravioli (9 raviolis), Chicken Parmigiana, Wood Fire Chicken, and The Cannoli Cake. One person ordered Shrimp Scampi that was weird and she didn't like, so it was sent back and replaced. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. A bit pricey for mostly pasta dishes, but all meals can with a good sized salad and the bread and oil dipping was plentiful. The restaurant was clean. read more

We visit this location about 4-6 times a year. The service is always very friendly and the restaurant is always clean and organized. I notice the servers are some of the most cheerful and accommodating that we experience when dining out. Our favorites foods are the chicken trio and spiedino di mare (scallops are delish and cooked perfectly). Side note when we take my mother in law out to dinner, this is always her suggestion and she is always happy. Also a great option for dinner and a movie!! Great food and great service!! read more

Tonight we took my mom out for her birthday dinner. She loves Carrabba's and I like it. I was looking forward to chicken parm and lasagna. Took a while for our server to come to our table. By the time he came we already knew what we wanted to eat and drink. We ordered the zucchini and just a few minutes after it arrived, our soups arrived. My mom asked the server if it was possible to hold off on the entrees because we had way too much food on the table. About 5 minutes later our entrees arrived. I hadn't touched my plate because I was waiting for parmesan cheese when I noticed a LONG hair in my lasagna and alfredo. When the server came back with the cheese, I handed my plate to him and asked for a new one since there was hair in my food. He took it, never apologized and seemed annoyed. A few minutes later my "new" food came, except it wasn't new food. How do I know that? Well I stuck my knife in everything so I would know if they were giving me the same food that had hair in it. And guess what.....there were my knife marks. I told the person that handed me my food, that it was not new food. He argued with me and kept saying, I ensure you it is new. THEN WHY ARE MY KNIFE MARKS in the food. At that point I told him I do not want it. He never asked if I wanted anything else. My server never asked me if I wanted something differet. So for dinner I had some zucchini, a few bites of my soup and a piece of bread. When our server brought over the bill, he just threw it on the table. We had company in town and took them here. The mozzarella sticks were really good. Our server was also great. However, the food took a while, by the time it came, some of the dishes seemed that they had sat for too long under the heat lamp, other plates seemed to be warmed up in microwave since there were spots that were warm and some cold. One member of our group ended up quite sick that night and felt his meal wasn't cooked properly. I have been here before and had a great meal but this time just wasn't up to par. read more

The service was perfect! Autumn was an amazing server that was welcoming, positive, and professional. Her attention to detail was on point- for there were some things missing with my meal and also gave me tips on how to pack our food to go (I had some soup). Unfortunately this was the worst experience I have ever had. I have been to Carrabas all over the country many many times. It holds a special place in our heart for the one close to Cocoa Beach, FL. HOWEVER the one in Mesa is a no go for us again. I understand wait times but you should always follow the under promise over deliver rule. We showed up tonight Saturday May 1st at 6:43 we checked in and were quoted a 25 minute wait. At the 45 minute mark I asked how long the wait still was as NO ONE had reached out apologized for the wait or the horrible judgement in wait time. We were told just a few more minutes and were finally sat at the 50 minute mark. UNACCEPTABLE to say the least especially with 0 apologies from any of the staff. Our server was great. He was very attentive. I told him of the wait time and to let a manager know to which he said he did. No manager showed up to the table to acknowledge this. Then as of things were not bad enough I mentioned we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, the server was nice and wished her a happy birthday and offered ice cream. She ordered the kids ravioli. This was the last straw. I was charged $8.49 for 4 cheese ravioli. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Over $2.00 per mediocre ravioloi???? I will post a picture of the untouched plate as it was brought to us. One of the top Italians locations you can eat in the valley. Pastas are amazing, you get bread and oil served before your meal to sweeten the deal and it's baked fresh. Service is always excellent, Servers and chefs are trained at a caliber higher than most local spots. The seating and environment is comfortable and this is a great selection for an intimate date or business meeting. I have tried a new dish at each visit and have never been disappointed so I can safely recommend the spaghetti, ravioli, salads and shrimp pasta but you can't really go wrong here. read more

Ate here last night. Service was wonderful. Food was average at best. Fried mozzarella that you could get at any number of places; warm, but bland bread. Salad drowned in Italian dressing. Not a promising start. Simply pouring a marsala sauce over chicken does NOT create "chicken marsala". Chicken marsala should be coated in seasoned flour and browned in butter, not wood grilled (sans coating) over an open flame. The open flame imparted a strong flavor to this dish which is foreign to a traditional chicken marsala. While the chicken was tender, it would have been better called "grilled chicken in a mushroom wine sauce". As the menu SAYS the chicken is grilled, perhaps I should have read beyond the title before expecting actual "chicken marsala". Look at their menu description for "Fettuccine Weesie" - "Fettuccine Alfredo with sauteed shrimp, scallions, garlic and mushrooms in our white wine lemon butter sauce." The primary ingredients in an Alfredo sauce are parmesan cheese, butter, cream, and salt. White wine and lemon are NOT included. So does this dish have BOTH sauces? Some hybrid of the two? What IS it exactly? Their website states "Offering authentic Italian cuisine..." This is NOT "authentic" by any stretch of anyone's imagination. It is on a par with Olive Garden - average tasting food, much of which features pasta... but a little red sauce and a few Italian words do NOT make for Italian cuisine. Don't go in expecting anything resembling "authentic Italian cuisine", and make your selections carefully. read more

We went here for a Valentine's dinner. I expected it to be busy, so I set up call ahead seating. We still had to wait 20 minutes but it was better than the 55 that they were telling everyone else. Mason was our server and he was very attentive even though the place was packed. A few tables around us complained about the food not being prepared properly. We left Mason a well deserved tip. People need to remember that it isn't the wait staff the cooked your food wrong and they shouldn't be punished for an overly busy restaurant, short on staff, making the best of a very busy night. We visited with our family. Our server was EXCELLENT! So no complaints on service for sure. I've been multiple times in the past and have truly never had an issue with the service. We arrived and I found it strange there were no handicap spots in front of the actually restaurant. Our grandmother has a harder time getting in and out of the car/restaurant so that was slightly surprising as most restaurants we've never had this issue. Thankfully, when we got there, a parking spot was available in front of the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and there wasn't a greeter or anything which was strange. We were greeted after about 3-4 minutes. Very nice just weird for there not to be a greeter especially since it was slow. We were seated for a table and immediately was greeted by our server who asked for drink orders and appetizers. We ordered the Blackberry Sangria (DELICIOUS). We also ordered the table a plate of Calamari. The calamari was overly salted and the marinara sauce to dip was too chunky for a table to split. Next, the entrees. We ordered the Bryan Pizza, Chicken Parmesan, Santa Maria Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Shrimp Scampi and off the Kids Menu, the Chicken Strips and French fries. Everything was good. Not fantastic but good. Definitely will be back but I'm thinking the kitchen was just having an off day. It seemed the Alfredo sauce was wayyyyy too runny and lacked flavor. The chicken Parmesan didn't have enough cheese or sauce and the Alfredo was way too thin in the sauce like I said earlier. I asked for a side of Alfredo but it also came thin and watery.
