We used to be regulars at this restaurant, but the food quality has gone way downhill over the last few years. The meat is often dry and pasta undercooked. On the positive side, the service has always been good, but I'm sure they get tired of apologizing for the food. We wrote Mr. Sylvester, the proprietor, to provide feedback last September. We never heard from him. The Carraba's on the south side of Jacksonville is much better. read more

Carrabba's is located at 155 SR 312 West in Saint Augustine. I went to eat at this establishment for dinner. Bud Light was the beverage of choice. I would rate the service overall as an 8 out of 10. Server did not check on our table within the first 1-2 bites of receiving our meals, it was more like the 6th or 7th bite. However, she was a very nice and polite server. The meat lasagna was excellent. Carrabba's pricing well reflects the type of service that is being offered. Through this experience of eating here at Carrabba's, I did like how the server gave us a piece of birthday cake at no extra cost. However, I thought the service could have been better if our server could have checked on us a bit more often to make sure that there was not anything that we needed. They have an amazing sparkling apple sangria. It's like drinking liquid apple pie... You'll think you can get through 2 or 3 at a meal, but only plan on 1 to splitting a second. They are pretty strong. The minestrone is great and so is the individual pizzas ... Reminds me of the pizzas you buy in Italy. read more

Wow. I have a personal belief that you can only get good Italian food through good home cooking, or through local "Mom and Pop" Italian restaurants with authentic Italians doing the cooking. This restaurant shatters that belief, as I cannot believe this is a national chain of Italian restaurants. The atmosphere is Olive Garden like, but a more "local" Italian feel to it. You can sit outside (They only have a few tables available), or inside at tables or booths. They also have a few seats in front of the grill / woodfire pit area in a bar-type setting. It is usually very busy for lunches, as well as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. They have excellent happy hour specialties which I believe are 4-7 pm, even on the weekends! You can get two-for-one deals on draft beer and house wines... The Sam Adams draft is delicious, as it always is. You start off with fresh baked loaves of bread, which is sliced up, and served with a plate of olive oil and spices. The food itself is standard Italian classics, i.e. lasagna, chicken parm, spaghetti w/meatballs, and they also offer woodfired pizzas and specialty items such as braised beef. The pizza is outstanding, the woodfire puts a great crisp into everything, the toppings are fresh and delicious. Their Italian food is outstanding, absolutely amazing. I usually partake in the chicken parmigiana or the big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. One bite into this food and you will instantly know the difference between this place and Olive Garden and other such national chains. The sauces, the meatballs, everything is hand-made, not prepackaged and microwaved! I've eaten at this restaurant a few times and have never had bad service, and never had bad food. It's a very enjoyable atmosphere, the food is delicious, and a great way to enjoy a meal with your family and friends. Definitely recommended for any meal!!! read more

Was very disappointed! We ordered dinner for Mother's Day. My husband ordered the grilled chicken breast. It was raw! He said it felt rubbery and when he cut into it, it was not cooked! I don't recommend this restaurant. Also was pricey for the quality. read more

I have been to a few Carrabba's before and this is definitely the best one. I came in a group of 15 on a Friday night and was seated extremely fast. After waiting for a quick 20 minutes on a busy night, I was impressed. The waiters were great and began by taking our drink orders while bringing some fresh bread. The bread was divine with some olive oil and our food came shortly after. It was standard Carrabba's food (which I happen to really like) and nothing was made wrong. I loved everything here, and had dessert for the first time at a Carrabbas's. The chocolate cake was extremely decadent and wonderfully sinful. The one problem I had with this place was the cold temperature. Besides this, everything was perfect. read more

My first time at a Carrabas & was disappointed. The only great thing about this particular franchise in FL is the fast service! The food was a total disappointment- the fettuccine is too dry, the salad too well dressed & the servings are not generous! I would give this a 1 star if not for the fast service. I'm a little surprised to see that this restaurant is rated with only 3 1/2 stars at this point. I noticed that there have been past reviews of bad "smells," but I think they have resolved this over time, because whenever I've been here, I've not noticed any of that. I enjoy Italian food very much, and the restaurant chain has a certain way about their food that makes me enjoy choosing Carrabba's because I know what I'm getting. I've not had a bad experience at this location yet. I love their bread, especially coupled with the seasoned dipping oil. One of my favorite dishes is the Chicken Bryan (which is topped with a dollop of goat cheese), but I have tried other menu items that did not disappoint either. On my recent visit, I decided to order red sangria, but was a little surprised of how much cinnamon was in it. Which lead to the questions: 1) Did they change their recipe since the last time I was here, or is this a seasonal thing? 2) Am I just not remembering that it had cinnamon, and if so, did I get the bottom of the batch where the cinnamon ended up being a little bit more concentrated? It wasn't repulsive, but i guess I am not used to red sangria tasting "heavy," and perhaps I'm used to (and prefer) a simpler taste of wine & fresh fruit for sangria. Went tonight with the family and got the lasagna and pollo scillia(sp?( The dinner was great, although we ordered dessert (canoli) and it took about 20 minutes to get them. The server tried to explain herself and the manager brought them to us with a free dessert next time we come. Regardless I tried to let him know how long we waited but I think he thought the free dessert would cover us. It is really about the confusion in service, and not the free food. We have a certain level of expectation when we go out to a restaurant and tonight we were disappointed. We will give them another shot but may go north to Jacksonville the next time as we have had better luck up there. read more

Had an ok dinner there tonight. They were very busy for a Monday night. Appetizers and salad were good, but dinner was fair. Husband had the grilled chicken that was supposed to be stuffed with fontina cheese and prosciutto, topped with mushrooms and basil lemon butter sauce. There was little to no cheese and he asked the waitress where the prosciutto was and she said "there is a small thin slice in there". Disappointing. I had the chicken parm / lasagna combo. Parm was good but lasagna was very salty. We waited a while for dinner because they were so busy and it was kind of a letdown when we finally got it. read more

Went to the restaurant March 18. Have had previous good experiences at this location. Sat at bar and ate an appetizer, while waiting for carry outs. Bartender, Justin, was very good. Fried mozzarella was over fried. Asparagus/prosciutto appetizer was fine. Carry out chicken Parmesan was processed chicken, tasteless. Almost no sauce. My wife ordered Tuscan grilled chicken. Overlooked and dry. Side of asparagus (which was an added cost) was overlooked and mushy. Chicken had no flavor. My wife ordered chicken noodle soup but when we got home, the soup turned out to be minestrone. We will not return. read more

I love Carabas and frequent them wherever I travel however the one in St. Augustine left me very disappointed. Though the food was fabulous as usual, the service was horrible. Our waiter was rude and told us you just need to be patient and wait. Had I not waited 40 minutes for a table and ordered my food, I would have left. Check the price of alcohol (Beer, Wine) before you agree on a drink! Ever notice how they don't put the prices of drinks on the menu? Well, we ordered a glass of wine, then another, thinking it would be around $8 max, only to find out they charged us $13.50 per 1/2 glass! So make sure to ask how much the wine is and make the waiter or waitress tell you how much. We got swindled!!! The pasta is nothing special, the chicken is sliced less than a 1/4" thin, Carrabbas has gone down hill. $26 for what amounts to a single glass of wine? Right... "Fool me once"... Our daughter loves a lightly breaded shrimp with a cream sauce appetizer and even though it was not on the menu she asked , described the dish ,another staff member came over and knew exactly what she was describing and they made it and OMG that was great and then we all received our meals I had the ribeye ( med/rare) when it came it, we all ha steak and my husband and daughters steak were beautiful but mine was not the best cut I have ever gotten but I ate it anyway without complaining and then to my surprise they brought me another steak because he didn't like the cut I received but he didn't expect me to finish so fast. So I had that wonderful steak the next morning for breakfast. To all the staff and especially management for treating me the way you would have expected to be treated. We greatly appreciate the fact that our meals were all presented in a timely manner and that even though I got a yucky cut I was not expected to wait for my dish. Where I live I can easily go to Ocala, Gainesville or St Augustine but because of the SUPERIOR service we received this will now be our go to Carrabba's location. It was a nice looking restaurant for a chain. Seating was very comfortable. Our party had pizza, chicken parm and mezzaluna ravioli. We also had calamari as an app. The food was good at best. Portions were a little skimpy on the chicken parm. The pizza was bland and the ravioli were nothing special. The calamari was nothing to write home about. Bland breading. Bread was cold, dense. Decided to go here to celebrate my birthday in st Augustine Fla.My husband and I ordered chicken parmasan and lasagna with fettuccini Alfredo. I am only giving one star because we did, after all, manage to get food. First, the waiter -- Kiril -was clearly in a bad mood...not a smile came from his lips. Then, when we asked him which of the pastas he would recommend...he said "None of them." Okay...no smiles...he is not kidding. Nonetheless, we are in a good mood, so we choose to ignore his attitude. Our meal was fairly decent, we received decent (if not pleasant) service, all is well and we leave. Ten minutes on the road, I realize I left my phone on the table...my new iPhone 5 that I got for Christmas. I go back, they are closed, but they let me in. The manager says no one has turned in a phone and I ask him to ask the server. He comes back and says the server - Kiril - hasn't see it. That is the extent of the manager's concern about my lost phone and the most effort that he made to help. His only other offer to help was to put forth the idea that maybe another customer stole it. We were the last customers to leave the restaurant, so the only people who could possibly pick up the phone (and immediately turn it completely off so it could not be located) worked in the restaurant. Our busser was Michael, our server was Kiril, and I'm sorry, but I did not get the manager's name. I left my husband's phone number, but we never received a call from anyone at the restaurant indicating that it ever crossed their mind again. Needless to say, we will not frequent this restaurant again where we have to be worried about the staff stealing our belongings. read more

There was an issue with those when I got home and checked my bag. I called and spoke to the manager Kat and she insisted that she remake the meals herself and have them delivered. After a long stressful day, she and her driver went above and beyond to make sure the meals were replaced along with a dessert. Very polite, professional and dedicated pair they both are. Still the best meal that sometimes is not listed is the "3 chicken dinner" three breasts are prepared 3 ways and this is a never disappointing meal. I've tried several other menu options but always come back to the ever so tasty 3 chicken dish. I don't do alcohol drinks but my guests rave on all especially the chocolate martini. Carrabba's Italian Grill is one of my favorite restaurants. I had it last week In Atlanta, Ga in close proximity to the Perimeter mall. I was visiting my hometown (St. Augustine, FL), and I decided to have dinner at one of my top food spots. The waitress was excellent, but the food was poor! I was extremely disappointed with the quality of my food. My sister was a chef at Carrabba's in Daytona Beach, so I'm extremely familiar with this establishment. I had a new dish, the Polla Rosa Maria, yet I fancy the Bryan toppings so I change it. I love fettuccine Alfredo, so per usual I sub it as my side for the dish. The Polla Rosa Maria is stuffed with prosciutto and fontina cheese, and my chicken was raw. I mean really raw! I was chewing it and it was rubbery, so I had to spit it out. When the dish arrived at the table it was covered in Alfredo sauce, which let me know the sauce was not reduced to its proper consistency. The fettuccine noodles were under cooked and sticking together. So, imagine trying to eat noodles, and they're all in one big ball with watery Alfredo sauce. I told the waitress my chicken was under cooked, so she takes my plate to have my chicken reheated. Why not make a new dish? She brings back the same chicken. They reheated the noodles as well and poured more sauce over them. The quality and effort that was displayed at this location was atrocious! My brother had Shrimp Alfredo, and his under cooked noodles were sitting in a tub of watered down Alfredo sauce because they decided not to reduce the sauce. My bill was 110.00 which usually isn't a problem, but after this display of poor service I was offended. I ordered a pitcher of the Blackberry Sangria that I love, and the bread and salads were excellent! Any and everything beyond that was a catastrophic disaster. I paid my bill, tipped the waitress, and left the reheated chicken and noodles with the watered down sauce sitting on the table. That's my first time leaving Carrabba's without a doggy bag. Epic fail! Carrabba's has a certain level of prestige, and this location is not living up to the standards. read more

We eat a Carrabba's occasionally. I love the food and they are always accommodating. Chicken Byran pizza is amazing but no longer on the menu, however, they will make it if you ask. The reason we don't eat there more often is the service is usually slow and not always friendly. I find it frustrating due to my husband and I are both in customer service and expect the same treatment we give our customers. We were pleasantly surprised on a busy Saturday night right after New Year's. Our waiter was pleasant but slow. What impressed us was the hostess named Sophia G and a manger we had never seen before, possibly new. We watched Sophia (had to get this girls name) hustle around running circles around the wait staff. We mentioned how hard she was working to the manager and we saw he made an effort to forward our comments to her. The manager seemed to be hustling as well, something we rarely see in that establishment. It was a nice change and we hope to see more people like Sophia and her manager at this location. Dreadful. We went there on a Monday night. There were 6 of us. We had tried the same restaurant a few months earlier and the service was terrible. We wanted to give this another chance because the food is so good. We arrived at 7pm and were seated at 7.45pm after being told it was a ten minute wait. We should have left then as things did not improve as the evening wore on. We gave our order pretty quickly having already had 45 minutes to review the menu. By 9pm our appetizers had not arrived and so we were getting ready to leave. The manager came over and told us that he would expedite the order. At this time our appetizers had just arrived but we were getting tired of waiting. The manager did apologize and gave us 50% off. But it was just too long a wait for us to enjoy our food. Sloppy process will ensure that this restaurant will continue to be a disappointment. I recommend that someone review the kitchen processes and look at efficiency. There's definitely a problem. As for us..... We will no longer be patronizing this restaurant when there are other more expeditious restaurants to choose from serving better food. read more

Common to wait here and the place is unusually gross. The whole place smells like the floor behind the bar. Carpets are sticky and slick. Food is sub par compared to the other Carrabba's restaurants. Salt levels here are competing with that of the Dead Sea. Cold food last time I was there and not cooked to the way it was ordered. Don't stop here move along..... read more
