Carshon's is a CASH ONLY restaurant. It is a small place with a small parking lot. It reminds me of a small deli with some table and chairs. We were directed to sit anywhere open. Lucky for us there were several tables free. It is a small menu, but we easily found a sandwich to try. We ordered the Rachel and the Ruben. The sandwiches come with a pickle and onions. I ordered a bag of chips to eat with my sandwich. We ordered a Pepsi and a Dr. Pepper. They came in a can. The service was very friendly and attentive. The sandwiches were delicious! The meat was so flavorful and plenty of it! The sauerkraut was very delicious. The rye bread was nicely grilled. Next time we might split a sandwich. We noticed the clientele was older and they were splitting sandwiches and sharing pie. We were barely able to finish the sandwiches, enduring up just eating the meat and leaving the bread. When your Jewish friend says it's good you try it. I had the Reuben & potato salad. The corn beef was a little dry but with dressing it was good. The lady who works the front clearly has reservations about certain people when it comes to their complexion. She does not treat everyone the same; essentially, she will not treat you as nice as she treats other people who resemble her. The food is also forgettable, overly greasy, and outright disgusting. If I wanted to eat any sort of geriatric dialysis food, I would have better luck at the hospital, because hospital food taste more seasoned, and better than this dump. read more

Being in Fort Worth for over 25 years and going to TCU just a stone's throw away, I do not know how I have only now just gone to Carshon's. This great little deli has been dishing out old world, deli classics for quite some time. My wife reminded me they only take cash and after a stop to the ATM, we journeyed to Carshon's. Their menu is fairly simple and what you would expect from an old school deli, most dishes revolve around some combination of corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, and sauerkraut. The Reuben caught my eye and at that moment I was greeted with the eternal question, corned beef or pastrami? Luckily the waitress noticed my quandary and recommended I could try both. That I did! The sandwich was a great combination of meat, cheese, and grilled bread. Perfect portion size and I loved both the pastrami and the corned beef. Considering I am conflicted on which one I liked better, all that means is another trip to Carshon's is needed to try more of their classics. read more

I hadn't been to Carshon's in years but was in the area. While they certainly do make a true NY deli sandwich, and it was delish, honestly, it wasn't quite as good as I remembered. My complaint is not with the food though. There were people all around the cashier desk when I walked in, so I did not see the "Cash/Check Only" sign. It didn't even cross my mind that, in 2025, in a society that is almost totally cashless, that a business would be conducted like it is solidly back in the 60's or 70's. I was stunned when I went to check out and the cashier suggested a CHECK when I handed her a credit card and then gasped as I told her I had no CASH. I haven't written a check in 10-15 years. I mean, seriously! In 2025?! I had to run down the street and pay a $2.85 ATM fee to get cash to pay a lunch tab. It shouldn't be that difficult to set up payment option via some form of plastic. Otherwise, the sandwich, while not knocking my socks off, was very good. But I would suggest when it comes to payment, they might consider entering the modern era. read more

I used to work in a Jewish deli so I dream of Matzo Ball Soup because it's really hard to find. I also dream of corned beef. When I do get corned beef, it's usually not that great. This place nailed it! Their corned beef is so delicious. It has no fat but you can taste the fat in it and I mean that in the best way. They even have bagel chips but by the time we got there, they were sold out. But their Matzo Ball Soup brings back memories. It was really good. It looked like they are remodeling and they need it. It's not the best aesthetically pleasing place. And they only take cash which sucks. I went back yesterday and forgot that and so I had to leave. Outstanding Ruben sandwich - really one of the best we have had - anyplace - Including the famous Carnegie Deli in NYC Times Square (Now Closed) Chili was really quite good - different than I was used to - but quite good. We got there just before 11AM - and were given a lunch menu - had originally thought of having breakfast, but decided to go with the Ruben sandwich & Chili for lunch. Now will have to go back (a bit earlier) to try breakfast. Bit of a drive for us - I should have picked up some stuff at the Deli counter to bring home. I'm giving this place 2 stars, one due to location and the other due to menu selections. My husband and I wanted some good Jewish deli food and this place came highly recommended. I ordered the pastrami and my husband ordered a chili cheese dog...not so Jewish, but he was hungry and craving it. I did find the menu limited, I for sure can say, it is not a Jewish deli. Just remember, no one can stay in business for 90+ years on gross food. I got the Rueben on rye which was delicious! All entrees come with their homemade pickles which are tart and crisp and, in my mind, a perfect representation of a New York style pickle. The meat is all made in-home and has excellent flavor. The potato salad wasn't the best...I don't like mine sweet, but that's insignificant. It's a restaurant that sells deli sandwiches AND just deli meat by the pound. Honestly, their meat is GREAT. And their service is EVEN GREATER! Husband and I heard great things about this place so we decided to give it a try. When we told them it was our first time (and that we will be taking our orders to-go), the lady behind the deli counter suggested some sandwiches (letting us know of her favorite), AND she gave us some meat to try! We got two special sandwiches to go - the ruthie & the Rebecca. Since the meats are good, the sandwiches are good. BUT theyre just TOO MEATY (which then makes it too salty. I see why men would like it, but it was a bit overwhelming for me. Ruthie - comes with roast beef or corn beef, turkey, and cole slaw. I ordered it with the roast beef. I chose this one because of the Cole slaw. I knew I couldn't eat a whole sandwich without having any greens in it. However, it was still too meaty. Rebecca - pastrami, turkey, and cream cheese. My husband got this one. It was recommended to us by our friend AND the worker. He loved it, but I wasn't a fan of the cream cheese part. Again, it was too much! Meat itself is so hearty and the cream cheese only adds onto it. The deli meat is so good that I definitely would like to enjoy this place more.
