this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I was craving pastrami... and wondering how this place would live up to Langers in LA or Katz in NYC. i've had this place bookmarked for a long time. Every time i try to come here, its either closed (sundays) or sometime comes up and i can't make it down to Fort Worth. When we stopped in, the exterior and interior looks very dated. Also... it was an interesting observation, but everyone eating here when i went were old. I felt like the average age of the room was like +60. Not saying its bad, but just something interesting i noticed. For food, we got a rebecca and ruben. Both great, but i think rebecca was better out of the two. The cream cheese on the rebecca really works with the pastrami. Honestly, for 13 bucks, this is a pretty decent deal. bathrooms are very small, but clean. One thing that scared me, was that i thought this place was cash only. I was looking through my wallet midway through lunch and was afraid i didn't have enough.... Luckily they take credit cards.

Carshon's is a Jewish deli in the Near Southside neighborhood. The food is good, basic deli fare. The service is ok, kinda slow (30 minute ticket times). The dining room is basic, with the AC leaving us wanting more. Overall, not bad but not great, just decent. Will I be back? Yeah probably so.

I started working near here and was excited to finally stop in after hearing how good it was. It lives up to the hype! We have been here twice in less than a week and I'm sure we will be regulars from here on out. First off, the sandwiches are top notch! Their meat is top quality, bread is fresh made, and their Cole slaw makes me want to choose every sandwich that features it. Even the slivers of purple onions are better than other delis. The employees are so friendly and they definitely make you feel at home. If you are in the area, you have to stop in. They close at 3pm, so don't wait too late.

We stopped in for a to go order. My husband ordered the turkey and peppered beef on wheat with pepper jack, and I ordered the chicken with provolone on pumpernickel. When we got home, we realized they had swapped the breads on our sandwiches and put pepper jack on both. After switching the bread myself, I had to add my own tomato and onion because apparently no toppings are included or if they are they forgot to put them in the bag. The pumpernickel was also incredibly thin and the crust was thicker than the actual slice of bread. The chicken was stringy, had a strange texture, and honestly tasted like something you'd get in a hospital cafeteria. We also ordered the potato salad, which had one of the oddest flavors we've ever tasted, and the cucumber salad was anything but fresh. 2 bites of each and threw in the trash. The cucumber slices were wilted, soft, and tasted like they had been sitting for days. The only thing we actually enjoyed was the lemon bar. I honestly could have saved my money and made a much better sandwich at home. I don't understand the hype, and unfortunately, we won't be back.

Love finding time to go to Carshon's when I'm off and they are open. Hard to find really good pastrami here in Fort Worth and they've got one of the good ones. I tried the Rebecca today and that will feed me for 3 meals. It was huge! Also love their Matzo ball soup. Friendly staff in casual dinner/deli setting. Definitely worth a visit.

Sandwich was just okay. Odd that the toppings all come on the side. It was easily a 45 minute wait for a sandwich, but it was st patricks day and they were busy! They also ran out of several of the desserts :( but the ones we got were tasty! This feels like a very iconic Fort Worth joint that is worth a visit, but left something to be desired on the quality

Another great lunch from Carshon's. Best corned beef in town and the lemon squares make an excellent dessert.

I found Carshon's on the Internet. I went by there and had their lox and cream cheese bagel plate. The food was good. It really took me back. I'm gonna come back and try their pastrami sandwich next.

Fast service and delicious filling sandwich! I dropped by after hearing terrific things from Reddit about this "New York Level" deli. Glad to say I was not disappointed. I ordered a 1/2 size pastrami sandwich on rye, with a side of coleslaw. The sandwich was very filling with plenty of meat. The pastrami was flavorful and tender, and the perfect amount of seasoned. The coleslaw was a nice compliment, as it was lighter and vegetables. Glad to have made this stop while in Fort Worth!

Carshon's is a Fort Worth staple and I'm glad I've finally tried it. Excellent sandwich shop and deli with staff that treat you like family and sandwiches made with love. I enjoyed the delicious Ruthie with roast beef. I loved how thin the meat is, but sandwich is loaded. The thin slices help the flavors all work together. PS- try the house stone mustard- yum!!

Wow! One of the best Pastrami sandwhich I've had in a while. I got a half sandwich with chips and drink for $13.50. Service was efficient and nothing to complain about. They have sauces on the tables to dress your order however you like you it. Definitely worth coming back to in the future for a good pastrami sandwhich.

Overall a great experience! The service was excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. I haven't had a great sandwich like these in a long time. The desserts were also good and my husband said his cheesecake was the best he's had. It's cash only, which we knew ahead of time since went to their site. It's a classic deli in Fort Worth that everyone should try.

We discovered this driving by ours son's home and put it on our bucket list. My wife loves kosher delis and one Saturday afternoon we ventured down from the Alliance area. It really isn't much to look at from the outside and you may drive by, without even noticing. Well the inside is fairly simple too but you can see the history as you walk through it. We sat down once we walked in and found it got busier as we were there. I have to say the service is amazing here. They are quick to greet you and even quicker tend f to your orders. We didn't like the matzo ball soup. It was bland. Not bad just needed some seasoning. The Rebecca sandwich was out of this world good. The Cole slaw and sauce coupled with the meat was phenomenal. My wife also liked her sausage plate. We split the strawberry delight dessert which was equally great.

The Reuben sandwiches were served playing with a pickle, but lots of Russian dressing served on the side.

Normally, I don't consider people from St. Louis to be credible deli evaluators, but I was desperate and made the hour drive to Grapevine. We got there at 11:15 and the line was nearly to the door. Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. The overall vibe was affordable utilitarian. I'll give the sandwich a 4, everything else a 3. Next time I'll drive the extra half hour to Cindi's.

The oldest sub shop in Texas is not a title you stumble into, and one visit makes it clear they've earned it. First, the parking situation, because someone has to say it. The spots up front are scarce and competitive. Don't give up, there's additional parking in the back with its own entrance. File that away before you go, or you'll spend ten minutes circling a strip that has not gotten larger since the 1970s. And speaking of the 1970s, the interior leans fully into its vintage identity. Small, dark, and unapologetically retro, it feels like a sub shop that missed the memo on modern restaurant design and decided it didn't care. Honestly, respect. Now, the subs. Galligaskin's cuts their own meat and cheese in house and bakes their rolls fresh daily, which is the kind of thing that sounds like marketing until you take a bite and realize it actually matters. The roast beef and cheese, loaded with toppings, is a proper sandwich. The house-made Galli Oil and pickled pepper finish that goes on every sub is the secret weapon - not spicy, just deeply flavorful, the thing that makes each bite a little better than the last. We also tried the burger, which came as a genuine surprise. A sub shop doing a burger well feels like it shouldn't work, but here we are, soft bun, flavorful patty, no notes. For sides, the Tater Tots are the undisputed champion of the table. Crispy shell, fluffy interior, the ideal tot. The fried okra was a strong runner-up, well breaded and served with ranch. The French fries, however, were a swing and a miss. They looked the part, golden, fresh cut, promising - and then arrived soggy. A limp fry is a tragedy in any zip code, and these were no exception. No one wants a sad potato. Order the tots. Skip the fries. You've been warned. Galligaskin's in the real deal, a Fort Worth original that's still earning its reputation one fresh-baked roll at a time. One last night: they're closed on Sundays, so plan accordingly. A cruel fact to discover in the parking lot.
