Just got serviced by this shop for the second time (same car). The price was a bit lower than a few other estimates I got, and the service was done quickly. Communication was excellent. Ms. Polly is super nice and accommodating but it really can't make up for the lack of quality and service here. Like the other yelpers noted the amount of time and abject incompetence is the reason for the low review. I was really forced here because it's where my insurance would cover after someone hit my parked car. My parked car was hit in early December and honestly but by March I had just given up on everything being really fixed. Here's the timeline and my experience. My car was hit in early December in a parking lot. I contacted my insurance company and was able to get an estimate the next day at CARSTAR. The estimator was nice but he really wasn't listening to what I told him. He visually saw my bumper, side panel, and door damage, but I told him about the alignment being off and the sensors saying they are broken. Either way, he said he would call me with updates and I would get text updates about when the parts would come in. Ms. Polly was very cordial and she had a few sheets of information. However, the text messaging system was a joke. It really just tells you when the car is in the shop and when it's done (weeks later) and if the price increased. After a few weeks, I had to call to see the status of my car parts. I totally understand parts take time. I'm glad I didn't leave my car there because it took a little over a month. My parts arrived right before the holidays about three weeks in (late December) and CarStar believes it can be done with the work within a few days. (I think 3). However, during the repairs, they noted they didn't order a sensor (that I told them was broken) so my car sits in the lot while we wait for additional parts. Keep in mind that my insurance only covers two weeks of a rental car. About a month in, my car is said that it is done. Luckily, I returned the rental car because I was going out of town. Either way, when I get the car, I noticed an excessive amount of grease in my car. Cleaning towels left inside. They did rinse off my car but it didn't cover up the damage they did to it while repairing it. So my speaker cover was cracked and damaged by CarStar. It seems like whoever was reinstalling the door didn't know how. Then the kick plate was scratched up. Again reinstalling the door. And again no damage prior to CarStar. I was going to ignore the scratches but I couldn't ignore the broken speaker cover. So then when i get home. I notice my driving steering is all wonky. I call them and they give me the runaround about how old tires (my tires are BRAND new from Costco) might affect the steering. Then they tell me they took it somewhere else to get balanced. Excuses. Then later they said the other location only balanced ONE tire. So I check my car and it's clear the balancing wasn't done. Tires somehow became under inflated. And this is brand new Costco tires. (Bought in November). Either way, the kicker was that my right camera was chrome when i brought it into CarStar. It wasn't broken. But when I got it back it was black. I don't care what color it is but I can't drive around like a car pirate with different colored cameras. My door now also isn't flush with the rest of the car. So I let them know. They promise they would fix it. And they did partially. Again I had to ask them to adjust the door trim and finally it's close to being in alignment with the rest of the car. At this point, the car is not safe to drive. They showed me an alignment sheet and it showed all four tires were "aligned". I don't know how because it wobbles. I just gave up and took it to Tesla. It felt good as new after real professionals fixed it. It just was too bad I had to pay Tesla to do a basic job. Also the parking lot if you can call it that has sinkholes not potholes. If your car was fine before if you hit one of those it won't be fine after. read more

Thank you for all your help repairing my car after a Police officer hit it. No she wasn't pulling me over, she was trying to get around me to go elsewhere. Anyway, Polly answered all my questions and more, as did Jonatan. They were both incredibly helpful and I appreciate their hard work. The work seems to have been done well, and they even provided guidance on future, unrelated work I might need. All the staff here are helpful and amazing. I took my brand-new car (less than 2 months old) to Metro Collision of Springfield CARSTAR to repair damage from a minor fender bender. They replaced a light reflector and repainted the rear bumper. After picking up my car, I immediately noticed a visible dimple in the paint where the repair was done. I brought the car back, and while the shop acknowledged the flaw, their only attempt at fixing it was to buff the area twice. The imperfection remained, and the manager told me it was caused by dust in their paint booth--claiming it was "impossible to avoid." He even added that the flaw was so small no other shop would bother to repair it. That might be "small" to him, but to me it's a big issue. My car was brand new when this happened, and I worked hard to keep it in pristine condition. I trusted CARSTAR to restore it properly, but instead I now have a visible defect in the bumper. To make matters worse, when I asked about fixing it correctly, I was told the only option was to repaint the entire bumper--yet they refused to do so, despite CARSTAR's advertised limited lifetime warranty. Accidents are stressful enough without having to argue with a repair shop to deliver the quality they promise. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this location to anyone who values the appearance and integrity of their vehicle. read more

Over the years, I've had to have a few cars fixed after fender benders or hit-and-runs. I've had service done three times at metro collision, and every time I was very pleased with the workmanship and the constant communication. Late last month, we drove a car to Metro Collision after an accident. Unfortunately, the vehicle was ultimately deemed a total loss. Nevertheless, I can say that these guys took good care of us every step of the way, from receiving the car and ultimately releasing it to the insurance company's inspection arm, which took several days and lots of back-and-forth communication. I recommend Metro Collision without reservation to anyone who is in unfortunate position of needing to have collision damage repaired. They'll take good care of you. Polly, who runs the front office, is an absolute gem and the entire staff is professional and kind to deal with and what is generally a very stressful situation. read more

Could have been better. They repaired my Tesla Model 3 (new trunk & paint) but when I picked it up it was still in Service Mode. A bit strange. So as the service rep watched me, I figured out how to cancel that so I could drive the car. Then as I was maneuvering in the lot I noticed backup camera doesn't work. Carstar service rep says he's "pretty sure" they tested it before releasing it. Guess not. So they agreed to fix it, I kept my rental car, drove back home (18 miles each way). 2 days later they called and said car needs to go to Tesla service center, so they drove it out there. 2 days later it's back at Carstar and again "ready for pickup". This time I noticed there's now condensation in the tail light. Guess no one checked it AGAIN before releasing it to customer. After some discussion Carstar agrees to get a new light, warning that if insurance pushes back they may need to charge me. So again I drive home in the rental car. Next day, Carstar calls and persuades me the condensation may be a warranty issue. In addition to the above, the new paint doesn't quite totally match the existing color. It's very close, but has a bit more metallic (pearl) than the original paint on nearby panels. No luck persuading the rep that they're slightly different- he says they used the paint code from the door. The difference is not noticeable from 15-ft away but is when up close (1 ft). Finally, the repaired trunk panel spacing seems to be slightly more crooked than original delivery but again, no agreement from the Carstar rep. Overall the paint quality on the repaired area looks excellent. The whole time, not much apologizing or sympathy from Carstar for all the hours I spent driving back and forth and waiting in the waiting area, although Polly at the front desk is friendly. read more

Company takes longer than they need to, probably to have an excuse to overcharge your insurance company. They know what they are doing is wrong because I called them on my personal phone which is not on file-- BUT when I called from my job's landline they pick up the phone immediately. So they KNOW they are running a scam. Avoid this company at all costs. Do not take on this company unless you dont want to your car ever again for 6 months to a year. read more

Highly recommend Carstar and Mr. Billy Hickman. They went above and beyond with my car repair. I had a deep scratch on my car's bumper, and they replaced and fixed it like a new within 7 hrs. I was very impressed with the work Mr Billy and his team done. He was very meticulous. He prepped my car really well, he explained the whole process and how they mix the paint which was applied to my vehicle. Their pricing was very reasonable. I got several estimates. They weren't the lowest but based on the reviews that I read and their base location, I went with Carstar Metro Collision. I will definitely be contacting them again for future repairs. 1 out of 5 stars are for Polly and Jonathan @ this location ...however the missing 4 are for poor workmanship, bad quality control, far too crowded location and an unhelpful, seemingly combative regional manager. Regrettably, the two employees aren't enough for me to come back; I'll be looking down the road to a sharp looking Lindsay Collision, as well as others and recommend you do the same. read more
