I bought a used car from Carvana at a new car price since there were no new ones available. I expected that at that price it would at least be in excellent condition and trusted the 150 point inspection. However, upon taking it in for a routine oil change the mechanic discovered it has been leaking oil for much longer than I have had it and said they absolutely should have seen and fixed that. Now I have to pay over $3000 to repair it myself and they will take no accountability. If I had known they were no more trustworthy than the stereotypical shady used car dealers, I never would have paid their premium price. read more

Ive looked up 20 different model used cars on Carvana website, all 20 USED cars some with high mileage were more expensive than buying brand new. 2018 models with 70k miles were exact same price as 2021 model w 10miles for sale dealership in area. Every car I looked up was like that. read more

In June of 2023 I purchased a 2021 Toyota from Carvana. Carvana has a 7 day return policy if you do not like the car-I thought everything was fine until about 3 weeks later when it rained and my back car door started to fill up with water! Carvana also has a warranty through SilverRock that if something happens that they will cover the damage for a 100 dollar deductible if you bring to a preferred mechanic. I brought it to one of their mechanics who immediately said that there was damage done to the back door and that it had been repaired improperly. Carvana had provided a CarFax report that showed no damage was done to the car so their CarFax is not worth anything! SilverRock then denied my claim for a new door as they said it was a cosmetic issue. How is a door filling up with water cosmetic?? Thats ok I thought-I will contact Carvana and they will surely stand behind their car. Well think again- I went round and round with Spencer who kept repeating the fact that Silverock was their trusted partner and then finally got on with someone from their leadership team named Stephanie who actually implied that I caused the damage to the door and that they can't do anything to make it right because the seventh day had past. She said it wasn't their fault that the CarFax report didn't show that there was an accident! So I guess I have to pay $1800 for a new door to get replaced or when winter comes the water will soak inside and freeze causing further damage. Carvana did nothing for me when it came to this problem and could not care less. Do not EVER buy a car from Carvana! read more

What a trash site. Delayed the delivery of my car for a week. Originally stated the car would be delivered on the 20th. Then delayed it to the 27th. I'm moving cross country and needed to be out the 25th. I spoke to 5 different representatives and they told me if I drove down there on the 20th to sign the registration they don't see why I wouldn't have my car by the 22nd or 23rd. I call the 22nd and 23rd say the car is ready to go all the papers are signed it's at the location yet the supervisor hasn't respond to any of the emails that the 5 different representatives had emailed him about my situation. Customer service reps were nice BUT THE SUPERVISORS CANT RESPOND TO ONE DAMN EMAIL. Honestly fuck this company. LOL At the woman responding to these reviews saying to call their customer service line as if we all haven't already done that. To start, the customer support staff was available and very kind all the way through the process. 5-stars and metter to every rep I was in contact with. And I've been in contact with them all A LOT. Updates and instructions are inconsistent, not everyone is on the same page. My experience had to be one in a million, but here's my story. My initial purchase was to deliver 2/18/22. I did not get my car delivered until 3/23/22. My initial delivery was delayed 8x and at some point it was disclosed they could not find the car. After the 8th delay, I selected another car, cancelled the initial transaction and was told it would be a quick paperwork update with a new VIN, no fuss, no muss. What in fact was required was for me to requalify with my credit union all over again. Which I did and then processed the delivery of the 2nd car. That delivery went smooth, as I think Carvana's intentions are for all transactions. Upon receipt of the car (shout out to the best, professional, pleasant delivery guy, Avery) I have received conflicting information on financial credits towards my purchase for all the cost and inconvenience. 1st: it will be taken off the bottom dollar of the price of the car I did receive. 2nd: we will take your down payment out, after the 7-day wait and you will receive your refund electronically the same day the down payment is taken from your account. 3rd: you will receive a check in the mail, after the 7-day waiting period, in 7-10 business days, and the down payment is removed the day the car is released into your possession. I have the car I wanted, I love it. And if the 2nd try was how it's supposed to be, then it would have been a great experience, but the 5-weeks it took me to get a car, the inconsistent information provided and the wait to get me funds rightfully due to me in a timely manner has been far less than stellar. it was the best and worst car buying experience, all at the same time. read more

My experience was with Carvana Tempe, Arizona. But the review link in my e-mail brings me to the one for Chicago as a Carvana Tempe is listed on Yelp. Anyhow, my experience so far is good. When I first started the process I tried linking from CapitalOne pre-qualified auto website and experienced some issues. So tried through Carvana financing and was approved. I started my car buying process through their finance company and completed the order. I wanted to see if CapitalOne had better interest rates so after dealing with a rude employee of theirs I called in and they created an IT ticket to help resolve the linking issue so I could change the financing through CapitalOne. Someone called me back and walked through completing that process with me only to find out CapitalOnes terms were less appealing than Carvanas for me, so we reversed the process again and I went back through Carvana with the same interest rate and terms I had previously chose. So the car pickup date was pushed out an additional 4 days but that was expected since I'm the one who changed the processes a couple of times. The day the car. No additional delays experienced for any fault of Carvana. When I picked up the car, I was immediately notified by the associate that their was a leak in the windshield he discovered while detailing the vehicle but he placed an order for repair and I would get an email from Silver rock to schedule a date for repair at no cost to me. So I was ok with taking it and can confirm I did get the email for repair. So I take the car home, it was a beautiful cadillac suv by the way. The pictures didn't do it justice. Anyway, upon inspecting the car I discovered the whole underside of the car was covered in rust that in some sections had already eaten through parts of the frame. I was so sad to see that but remembered you can exchange a car or cancel an order within the 7 days. I also forgot to mention I traded in a car I owned that was paid off with no lies and that was a smooth process. Anyway, I called silver Rock to explain the rust and find out if I could get it repaired under the 7 day warranty. The associates response wasn't satisfactory as I was told I'd have to have it inspected by a mechanic who would get approval from Carvana rlto repair it, upon submitting photos and making a professional opinion on only doing so if it would compromise structural integrity. No ok. Now I'll own some of this because the Carfax report showed the car spent most of its time in the northeast and Midwest regions. That should have been a red flag. However this also should have been caught at the very least during Carvanas touted 150-point inspection. I first spotted it while kneeling down inspecting the front tires and saw the whole shock and housing had a thick coating of rust. I then put my cell phone on a selfish stick and ran it along the under carriage of the car to record all of the rust. So it was more than oversight and admittedly made me contemplate just getting my car back and writing off this whole process. There was nothing wrong with my car, I'd just always wanted a Cadillac. Anyway, I decided to just swap it, immediately found another Cadillac with California and Arizona history and contacted Carvana to help me swap it. It was really fast and the associate helped me lock the other car I wanted and finish the ordering process. The other car actually had less miles, was the upgraded premium package and had no delivery fee but cost an additional 2k but no problem. I grounded the car I kept in my possession until the date I was scheduled to pick up the new car. Wheb I arrived the swap was pretty seemless. I immediately started checking for rust and other things that may not have been mentioned and so far everything is going well. I'm now out of my 7 day test period, so im definitely keeping it and still taking it to my mechanic when he gets back in town so I can catch anything if it needs to be covered under the 100 day warranty. But I like this suv much more than the first and aside from a few hiccups, the process wasn't too bad. read more

Realised that within a day and started the return process.An Advocate came and picked up the car in 3 days but never gave me my payment back. I keep calling them daily with over an hour wait time every day and no one knows what the process is. Call gets disconnected and No one calls back. Iam still waiting anxiously to get my check back so I can close my loan out on which Iam paying daily interest. It's a nightmare folks, stay away from Carvana, not worth the hassle. read more

I recently wrote a review complaining about my experience purchasing a car from Carvana in Oak Brook. All of my frustration was in the pre-pickup phase of buying the car. I didn't find that part of purchasing the car much different than from a regular dealer. That said the pickup process was extremely quick and easy. We had to wait a little longer than expected because people picking up cars before us were late. Once we began the process of getting our car it was very quick and easy. I had an overall great experience buying from Carvana ! The large inventory and descriptions of the vehicles including pictures of the ares of paint imperfections put me at ease in picking the vehicle i wanted. I live close to The Oakbrook hub/vending machine so I chose to pick up instead of delivery. WOW no spending hours waiting to take delivery , no hassle or problems. I absolutely love my new suv and would use Carvana again. I did take one star off for the little things missed such as the inside of the windshield was cleaned by someone who is horrible at getting windows streak free. I picked up on a sunny day and had to immediately go home and clean the windshield as it was extremely difficult to see in the bright sunlight. Also whoever waxed the car left white wax on the black plastic wheel fenders and around the window edges - stuck out on an all black vehicle. read more

I have had my delivery date changed twice now, the first time was when I was ten minutes from picking up my car after a three hour drive, the second time was two days before the scheduled pickup. Buying process worked fine for me. One week transport delay - not a biggy. The car wash performed was cursory. The underside of the entire vehicle appeared it had driven thru a pond of oil. The engine was not cleaned - I removed a mouse nest complete with walnut shells and removed about 10pc dryer sheets that had been stuffed into nooks by the radiator by previous owner. On 2 separate occasions, I've contacted Carvana to sell a car. Both times they provided conflicting information about the title. Carvana has a very strict policy if more than 1 name is on the title, all people must be physically present at the time sale. This policy applies to titles even if it specifies one person OR the other person. They will also not accept a title if the mileage is written in, even if it's reasonably close to the exact mileage. No other car dealer I've worked with has such strict policies, so therefore I sold very good cars elsewhere. read more

I purchased a 2018 Grand Cherokee (second car from them) from Carvana. Finalizing the application there wasn't any option to transfer or purchase license plates, which they have admitted too. So I immediately called (twice) and advised I needed a transfer of personalized plates. The employee I spoke with said they would make notes and it would be taken care of. A short time later , I received new plates. So, I called and it was explained I'd have to wait until title clears and transfer them myself with the Illinois Secretary of State and send them the receipt, a $25 charge which would be reimbursed (which took months). New license plates cost $310, a $287 difference. Working with a manager they told me I'd have to get reimbursed from Illinois for registering two sets of plates on one vehicle. Which was correct but they need the registration sticker back to reimburse any unused portion of the new plate registration. Unfortunately when I got my old plates transferred back to the new vehicle I cut up the new plates and sticker. So, even though Carvana admits to making the mistake and I had to do all the work to correct this, they refuse to send me my $287. I think its time to use another company in the future. read more

Don't bother. We bought a car with third party financing because the interest rate Carvana offered was not competitive (it was 4 percentage points above what my bank offered--that difference blows my mind). There was a secret deadline not communicated by Carvana by which point the image of the check needed to be sent to them. Carvana instead sent an email an hour and a half before that cut off "reminding" of the deadline. Check was not cut yet (this was the Friday before a Monday pickup) so we lost the sale and we had to restart the process. Instead of getting our car on May 2, we could not get the car before May 10, and no one at Carvana could help. Despite us already having all paperwork sent, insurance active, and check sent to Carvana. Then, inexplicably, they canceled our sale again, although this time they apologized and we were back on for May 10. Now we've been told we can't have the car until May 16. Carvana has hilariously offered us $75 for our trouble. We're renting a car at a cost of $600/week. We bought this car for a May 2 delivery. We have no idea if we'll ever see the car. It would have been better for us to have gone anywhere else. read more

It has cost me much more time and effort rescheduling my work hours and calling insurance and bank to notify them of the changes. They don't even inspect their cars any more. The car we bought was in the shop for repair twice and we discovered that it was not prepared at all. Dirty engine air filter, dirty cabin filter, oil seemed oil. Their warranty denied some things and covered some things. We had to pay out of pocket about $530 to bring the car up to a good condition. Do not do business with these people. It was a shitshow from start to finish. Car was delivered on December 18th. I took it for a drive and all was well. We did the paperwork and the guy left. 10 minutes later when I went to take it for a drive and become familiar with it, it would not start. I contacted Carvana and was assured that someone was going to come and check things out, and if they couldn't figure out what the problem was they would tow it to a dealership for service. I waited ALL WEEKEND for someone to come. I called multiple times, and was assurred someone would call me back. They did not. I would call back, and each time they would assure me that someone was coming. They promised me all day that Saturday, that someone was going to come and look at the car or tow it. At about 8 p.m. on Saturday they changed their tune and said "Oh no it's not today; they're comming tomorrow." Yet all day they'd been telling me they'd be here soon. I waited all day on Sunday, and no one came. Finally Sunday night I got ahold of someone whose brain cells all held hands at the same time. She said to call roadside assistance. Why no one else has been able to come up with that solution in 48 hours, I have no idea. I had the car picked up and towed to a dealership on Monday. It turned out the battery was dead. Pretty strange for a car with only 12,000 miles on it, but they replaced the battery and it was covered under the warranty. Unfortunately because it was the week of Christmas and I did not have an appointment to get the vehicle serviced, I had to wait two days for them to fix it. Then I had to figure out how to get to the dealership 30 miles away to pick up my car. Fast forward a week and a half; the rear defroster on the car only works when it's warm in the car. Not helpful. I made an appointment with the same dealership, got the car there and they can't duplicate the problem, so I had to leave the car. Carvana assures me that I can Uber home and they will reimburse me for the ride. When I contact them to ask how to do it I'm told that there is a link that they will send me which I can use to upload the receipt. For some reason the text message that they are sending with the link in it will not come through. They have no other method for getting me this information. Nobody has the information, contained in the link, that I can just type into a web browser. I have now spent 6 hours dealing with people about this. Anytime I contact customer service I'm promised that they're going to do something, I'm told how sorry they are that this has been an inconvenience for me. They assure me that this is not the experience they want me to have; yet here we are. They are disorganized, dishonest, and inept. When you choose to chat with customer service, their agents are chatting with multiple people at the same time, so you sometimes go 20 minutes without a response from the person you're chatting with. One time when I called customer service and the person couldn't help me, I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told it would be 24 to 48 hours before a supervisor could call me back. You can talk to three different people about the same issue and you'll get three completely different answers. Everyone's real sorry about what's happening and feels really bad about it but, but nothing gets done. It's just been a huge headache ever since the car was delivered. Wish I had just gone to a dealer. I might have paid more, but I wouldn't have this headache. read more

I had an appointment to sell my deceased mom's car at 11am. When I hadn't heard anything by 11:15, I reached out to customer service and was immediately told 'we have a 1 to 2 hour window.' This 2 hour window was not communicated anywhere in any of the confirmation e-mails or any other form of communication that I recieved about the appointment. After holding for about 20 minutes, first I was told that the person that was supposed to come was out of office that day. Then, I was told that she has an issue at the previous appointment, had to stop by the hub to pick up my paperwork, and could get to my mom's house in less than 40 minutes. At this point it was almost 12pm. I said I will wait if that is truly an accurate estimate. I absolutely cannot wait longer than 40 minutes. I live an hour away and my day had already been derailed by the hour and 40 minute delay. By 1pm, still no one had arrived. Once again, I reached out to customer service (no one had reached out to me during this process) and I was told they couldn't get ahold my hub. Nothing was done, and I was forced to give up and drive an hour home. Horrific customer service. read more

We got the email confirmation Sunday afternoon saying our Monday pick-up appointment was a go and reminding us what to bring for the trade we were also bringing with us. We get there and the lady we were dealing with had the file and everything. We went through the trade-in process and they test drove and then took possession of our car which took about 30 minutes. Then when it came time to take possession of our new (used) car we were given a token to drop in the little token tower and watched as our vehicle came down. I noticed there was no license plate on it and the lady said she would go grab a plate so we could test drive it and then take it off the lot if we were satisfied. After about another 30 minutes go buy and I ask about our plate and she said she submitted a ticket and was waiting to hear back. I asked again after another 15 minutes if there was a response (and she was already trying to help other people there who were also picking up cars) and she checked and then she went and got another person (Mike) from the Customer Care Team who took me in a back room and said basically that the vehicle title was in auction already and it could be weeks or months to get the title if they could even get it at all. I asked why I was sent the confirmation email on Sunday and he said he didn't know why that happened. I would say this, if you are going to use Carvana then just be warned that it is no better than the dealership experience and they are tripping over their AI computers and can't seem to send a clear message to their customers. Too bad really, it is another great idea that is not executed well. When I got home a Customer Care person called and the best they could do is $250 towards the purchase of another car but the offer expired in 24 hours. Seriously!? I told Briana that 24 hours is not even enough time to flush out the bad experience and a waste of three hours. read more

This is not a stress-free car buying experience. They need to get their Illinois dealer license, and fast. My Georgia temp tags expire in two days. I got notification yesterday that my paperwork was just sent to the DMV - 3 days before the temp plate expires. I called for a resolution and the only solution presented was for me to call back once the plates have actually expired. At that time, they will set up a rental car (with me paying a deposit, of course). I street park in Chicago. I don't have a garage or access to one to hide this car with its plates once they expire, and the best they can do is approve $25/day in REIMBURSEMENT for storage for up to 10 days...so up to $250 out of my pocket upfront plus a deposit out of my pocket upfront for their inability to get my car registered in time. They can't store it at their lot? They can't arrange this service? I'm not about to get the car ticketed/towed/impounded until the plates arrive. Overall, ridiculous and a massive headache. read more

Nightmare! I ordered my car on-line from the website. I was promised delivery within 10 days. Less than 12 hours from the delivery time, I'm notified that the paperwork hadn't been processed and we'd have to reschedule. Really? You just figured that out 12 hours before the delivery time? So, I rescheduled. Happened again! Rescheduled. This time they actually got the car to me. But then the real nightmare began - getting the registration. I called 4 times asking when the registration would be mailed as I needed it for other reasons. I was told 3 of those 4 times that it's due to be mailed on July 29. Called back on Aug 2 to see where it was - I was then told that I actually have to go to the DMV in my state to pick it up! WHAT? Could someone not have figured that out 3 phone calls before? Complete nightmare. Now, I have to find time to go to the DMV, stand in line for hours and HOPE they actually do have my registration. Never again. If you are reading reviews before using Carvana, don't use Carvana. Go to Carmax if you have that option. Far better company. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a car dealership. I ordered a car and it was delayed four separate times. The first time they said they forgot to charge the car but that it was in the area. I said it was fine, because well, things happen. The second time, they stated it was a "logistical issue" and that they did not have a truck to transport it from Indiana (after they already told me the car was in Chicago). Again, I was okay with it because I really wanted the car and I understand things happen. The third time they delayed it was for an "unknown reason" and the fourth delay was due to "transmission issues". So, at this point, about three weeks have passed since I first bought the car and I have spent about $600+ on insurance and monthly parking for a car I still don't have. All of a sudden the car has a severe transmission issue that will take a month to fix and they delayed the car by two months after the original ship date. I was very concerned by this because they could not tell me exactly what the transmission issue was and at that point, they seem to just be being dishonest with me about the condition of the car. I spoke to customer service about six separate times to get this resolved and each time it was about a thirty minute wait before getting to speak to someone. The last person I spoke with offered me $250 compensation and called it a "favor" saying that they don't HAVE to do that for me even though I put way more money into something I didn't even have yet. The agent said I should be grateful and that if anything, I was causing an inconvenience for THEM. This was the last straw for me and I ended up cancelling the car and taking a car home from the dealership that same day (including home delivery) within 3 hours of contacting the BMW dealership. My interest rate was also 11% lower going with the dealership and it was overall a much more affordable option for the same car with upgraded features. Do not shop with Carvana unless you want to deal with paying for something you may never get. read more

The buying process online was super easy and convenient, however the most frustrating part was that carvana advertises that they can get the car to you super quick which was not the case. They rescheduled my delivery date three times! And I didn't end up getting my car until almost 3 weeks later!! Once I got the car it was perfect, just the way advertised which I was happy about. When I thought the whole process was done, I was contacted about two weeks later saying all the documents I signed had the wrong date on them and they were going to send me new documents to resign for the title, which means my plates for the car are going to be delayed even more ): who knows when I'll get the plates for the car. read more

On the website, seems pretty simple and full of promise. So I found a car I wanted and went to the purchase process.....then it all fell apart. I was going to pay in cash so they said the car would be delivered in two days! Fantastic, I have money, you have a car, let's trade! The Plaid hookup to my bank didn't work, so someone called me and said I would now have to wait 5 days because I had to pay before they delivered unless we could get on the phone with my bank and verify. Still wanting to believe this would happen, I called customer service and asked for call back because wait was over 30 minutes. I got a call back which put me right back in queue to wait again! Then the rep said she would call my bank and verify I have the money I say I have. I waited on hold for another half hour and then got hung up! At that point I realized I was doing all the work and enduring all the frustration so that they might one day deliver me a car. I gave up. read more
