We stumbled across this place around dinner time. The place is huge, and there was plenty of available seating both inside and outside. We ordered some beer and the Artichoke Dip as an appetizer. The beer is pretty good. The Artichoke Dip was amazing!!! And not just the dip itself - the bread bowl was the best part. I highly recommend it. For my entree, I had the Chile Chicken Verde. The chicken itself was good, but the drunken black beans were kind of bland. Overall, I was impressed with this place and would recommend it. read more

Overall food was decent. Husband enjoyed blacken tacos and I indulged in the fiesta salad. Nothing was left on our plates. Drinks got to us AFTER food arrived which was just a little hiccup in the service flow. They weren't overly busy so maybe it was just short staff. Saw some people had brought their dogs in; atmosphere was pretty chill and we would give this establishment a positive endorsement. People should give it a try. read more

We were acknowledged and seated quickly. Alex was our waiter and had a great personality. Being a brewing company there were many people having happy conversations. We sat on a high table near the front which was great because the weather was on the warm side. It was hard to decide on what to eat because everything sounded and looked great. Great experience! The pork green chile is especially delicious. A little on the spicy side and lots of very tender pork. The fries are uniquely shaped and delicious! Staff were all friendly and helpful and food was served quickly. Really good menu selection and fun, family-friendly atmosphere. It does get busy, so I'd recommend putting your name on the waitlist on their website before you get there. On a personal note, when we walked in we were surprised to see the exact same graphics and chalkboard for the beer list as our favorite brewery at home, Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company (another great choice if you're ever in Glenwood Springs, CO!) We kept noticing more and more similarities, such as the frisbees for kids' plates. It turns out the two restaurants are owned by the same people. Very fun for us that we ended up eating here! Our only disappointment was that the beer garden wasn't open so we could take a selfie with the dinosaur statue Would definitely eat here again. read more

We went to Carvers twice in our recent stay in Durango. We had lunch on the back patio and it was our first time to be seated there and I highly recommend it - even if you have to wait a bit. The SO had the chicken enchilada, which he said was very good, but not a typical enchilada. More like a casserole. I had the quinoa veggie patty and liked it very much. The fries that came with the patty were very potatoey. Just the way I like them. For our diner, we ate on the front patio on main street. Although not as nice as the back patio, it's a fine alternative if you are an outdoor only diner, as I am at this time. We split the caesar salad, which was a fine caesar salad, and then the SO had the chicken chile verde, which he said was very good and I had the Thai quinoa bowl, which was also good. The SO is a big beer fan and really enjoyed the Hazy IPA and the Double IPA. He especially liked that the Double IPA was tasty, without being overwhelming. The SO thought I might like the Upslope hard seltzer, and I did! What a nice treat for a non-beer drinker. read more

Everything I read online stated that Carver Brewing was the local favorite of all the breweries in Durango. That may be true but I have to say it was my least favorite. Perhaps the draw is the lack of a crowd? I found the beer selection very limited and was not a huge fan of the one I ended up with. Service was good and I suppose the food looked tasty, but if you're looking for more of a craft brewer's scene I'd recommend Ska instead. read more

I've been to Carvers a few times now. They have a nice selection of brews however; I've gotten sick from their food the last 2 times I've been there. My daughter who has a stomach of steel also got sick this time around. Not sure what's going on there. Their service is hit and miss. Some days are definitely better then others. Edit - Response to owner: Hello there, thank you for responding I appreciate your time. I was not questioning the cleanliness of restaurant or kitchens, the fact that both of us got sick and much of our food was improperly made and cold doesn't help the case of us getting sick in my opinion. The mushrooms in my daughters quesadilla were burnt, cold and tasted dirty. The fries with my sandwich were cold along with the meat, sauerkraut and bun. The restaurant did remake my daughters quesadilla but put green chilies on it when we requested it without. I saw your kitchen (to a point) going to the restroom after i finished eating and saw one of the cooks wipe his nose with his hand. Could be another reason why we got so sick. Took everything I had not throw up in the restroom. Lastly, I must say no one or place is prefect off days will happen. I may have just been unlucky enough to have shown up on two of those days. read more

Reputedly the best brewery in town, I had the hefeweizen and was not impressed. Service was exemplary, it was a hot day and we cooked in there due to the lack of A/C. A dozen of us dropped in a few days ago for beer and some appetizers. I had some of the stuffed mushrooms and they were good, but not spectacular. At the end of the day it's all about the beer. I sampled an IPA which was pretty good, a double IPA which was not as hoppy as I expected, and the raspberry wheat which was *very* highly colored. The hefeweizen was billed to be in the traditional Bavarian style, which should have a big head on it that lasts for hours. As you can see in the photo below, the head on my beer as delivered was pretty flaccid. The traditional style has a strong banana flavor, but I got little of this, it was a very ordinary wheat beer. It should be served with a fair amount of yeast, and it was somewhat cloudy but had no sediment. Maybe I'm just being picky, but when a brewery advertises a beer in the traditional style I expect them to deliver. Caveat emptor: I did not have enough food to have an informed opinion on it. read more

First time we've had dinner here. It was wonderful! Good beer, food and service! They've made an outside patio in front of of the restaurant which was very nice to set and have dinner. They also have an outside beer garden in the back of the restaurant which is very nice. My husband and I had salads, green chili stew and broccoli cheese soup which were excellent! Can't remember what the guys had but they loved what they had. Food was delicious! Our servers name was Elle? or something like that and she was great! Highly recommend trying this place! read more

This is a great place to stop for drinks,lunch or dinner. Situated right on Main Street in downtown Durango. They have a great selection of craft beers, delicious appetizers, along with burgers, salads and sandwiches. This place never disappoints when I'm in town for a visit. read more

There has definitely been some recent changes to Carver's that leaves me not wanting to return. Carver's has really toned down their menu selection in recent years, and because of their limited selection is the main reason I no longer frequent this place. Now their menu is dominated with starches and salads. Their burgers have cut back on the portion of meat and it is stuffed with a salad to fill out the bun. The Tatanka bison burger is significantly smaller and the veggies dominate the sandwich. Their famous Pink Raspberry Wheat Beer is but a shadow of its former self. It's no longer pink, which denotes the once abundant amount of raspberries used to make such a tasty beer (which was once boasted about in advertising). Now is rather beige and just tastes like a wheat beer. There's nothing truly raspberry about it anymore. Sidewinder fries, which I have no idea why I order these every time, is dry and has all the signs of sitting underneath a heat lamp. I keep ordering these thinking that I am going to have a different, enjoyable experience. My mistake. If you like salmon those dishes seem to be better compensated in the protein department. Alas, I don't like salmon, so I choose from their other offerings. The neighboring table had a reuben that looked stacked, but I can make a deli sandwich at home. Is what I am experiencing shrinkflation, supply chain issues, or the new normal (the go-to term circa 2020)? The cost for dining here has distinctly gone up and the quality and value is worthy of scrutiny. At the time of this review Carver's is now offering their brews canned, but holy hoot, the prices are staggering ($12.50-$14.99 per six pack, if remembered correctly). They are offering 25% off your second six pack if you buy two sixers at a minimum of $25 total! Wow. If you can afford to take 25% of a second six pack I would bet that you can take 25% off all six packs and perhaps move more product. Move that pricing from $12.50-$15 to a sensible $9.38-$11.25. The service was pleasant. They typically nail it in the service department. read more

WOAH! This place is incredible from the ambiance to the incredible food and the friendly wait staff. This was the softest pretzel I've ever had and our burger was life changing.
