I really liked the ambiance. The music was good and not too loud. I didn't even need to wear earplugs, as I often do these days to protect me from getting much worse migraines. I sat at the bar, since it was only me, but tho the bar wasn't busy and service was friendly, it was very slow. The food was wonderful! I'm glad I made the choices I did, tho of course nothing I wanted was included in the happy hour specials. The fried calamari was some of the best I've had tho it was observed with a little bit of cocktail sauce and a huge thing of tartar sauce. I'm sure I could have gotten more cocktail sauce, since I don't like tartar sauce, but it wasn't necessary. The calamari was so good. The lobster bisque was delicious and the picture can't show you that it was full of lobster. There was a LOT more lobster than a lobster bisque normally contains and the price was about normal for a lobster bisque with one tiny piece of lobster. The iced tea was a bit out of control. If I'm going to be charged $5 per glass of iced tea, that glass should be larger than the ones they use AND not 90% ice. That much for a glass of ice with a splash of iced tea is extreme. I'd still return, since the food was wonderful and hopefully I just got unlucky with the service. read more

It was a very mediocre dining experience overall and I left hungry because I didn't really enjoy any of the food we ordered so I didn't eat much. - cesar salad (3.5/5) - standard cesar, nothing to complain about or write home about. - tomahawk steak (3/5) - asked for medium rare and it came out rare. decent crust but otherwise it was mediocre. - lobster vodka pasta (2.5/5) - good vodka sauce, but there was barely any lobster... - chicken parm (3/5) - chicken was soggy and pasta could've used more flavor. - mac & cheese (4.5/5) - we actually liked this. it was tasty and cheesy without being too heavy. - mushrooms (3/5) - average and boring. - asparagus (3/5) - very average and bland. Went here before seeing a show (Moulin Rouge), on 5/17/24, and have to say I was impressed. The staff was very warm, friendly, and attentive. The dishes were very well prepared. Of particular note was the fillet mignon. Excellent. I would recommend this place without hesitation. read more

Underwhelming. We stopped for lunch. Thought that we were in for a treat considering the lobster bisque was yummy and the oysters were perfection but sadly that was not the case . Ordered steak medium , had to send it back because it was over cooked and when they brought it back to me , it wasn't the best tasting . He got the ny strip , which tasted so much better than mine . Our first food stop when we arrived in New York! We were three of about 10 people total in the restaurant. They had a great lunch menu with a variety of choices. We had the lobster bisque, Caesar salad with chicken, and steak sandwhich. The food was AMAZING. One of the best Caesar salads we've ever had. The drinks were strong or at least my Classic Martini was. Just beware that not all drinks are Happy Hour priced. Sitting down we started with tasty and fresh Caesar and Wedge Salads. For our mains we had a strip steak and a boneless rib eye. Both were of steak house quality somewhere in the middle of the road for taste. The fries and creamed spinach as sides were excellent. So much breaded didn't recognize it was shrimp and wondered if they gave us chicken instead. Lobster Vodka Pasta: the saving Grace which made my rating 3 instead of 2. It was delicious and flavorful and made me wonder how the other dishes were so bland. Another reason for the low score was the constant interruption from various staff asking how are things. I get it you want to be attentive, but it was overkill and it really curtailed the ability for my friend and I to catch up with what is happening in our lives. After a while not to be rude, it was annoying. All in all I really had high hopes and was looking forward to a great dinner but sadly it was just mediocre. FOOD WAS TERRIBLE AND PRICEY Do not waste your time or money coming here, this was so overpriced and bad food! And they have a 25% surcharge . We ended up paying 100$ for a burger and a pasta! When asked about it they said it was part of the system and still aked for a tip. The lobster pasta had not a single piece of lobster. The burger was 3/10 and i couldn't finish it, and the fries were bad. They also charged 10 dollars for still water that was just tap water! My sister decided this is where she wanted to go for her 29th birthday. Not everyone wasn't pleased with the prices on the menu but I will say if your looking to go here with family and not sure what to get the penne lobster pasta it was so delicious for me. Maybe this could explain the mix up in food preparation. I ordered the 14oz ribeye medium rare and it was served rare. Overall the taste of the steak was very bland. They literally put no seasoning on the steak and the fat rendered no flavor. The cut was very pour and had a lot gristle, making it hard to cut. Was very disappointed in the steak. Maybe I should have expected that from the name of the restaurant; note do not order steak from a seafood restaurant. You will always be disappointed. My wife ordered the wedge salad and was pleased, made comment that the bacon added the finishing touch. My daughter ordered the meatball and spaghetti, my daughter is very well traveled and keeps her on blog on Yelp saod the spaghetti sauce was very cheap and tasted like something from a can at a grocery store. What started out as a presentation that would leave Lumiere envious, I fealt like royalty as they served me the porterhouse of my dreams. I Gazed at this beautiful slab of beef served carved and sizzling hot flanked by my asparagus and spinach. Every bite seemed to take me to a new level of bliss. For under $20 this is a tremendous value for Shubert Alley. We asked for separate checks and the waiter effortlessly processed them and returned our cards within minutes.
