HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - I'd rate it ZERO but I cant select 0 stars…read more DID NOT GET THE CAR I PAID FOR - Rented a Standard SUV but was given a Small SUV (Ford Escape) CARS ARE NOT INSPECTED - my car had a service light for "oil change". When I informed them, they said it had an oil change but no one reset the service light. I am not sure if it was really done. I got pulled over and received a ticket for a headlamp that wasnt working. When I contacted Roadside assistance, I was told to fix it and send them the bill. Wasted time fixing a headlight for a rental car. UNKNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF - My car had a sticker that said its registration is expired. When I asked the staff, they said they can see its valid but wouldnt give me proof of registration. I was not comfortable driving a car which did not have any proof of registration so they asked me to go to another Hertz location as they were out of cars. I went to the JFK airport location and the staff informed me that the registration is permanent so does not need any proof. Its a Florida PM registration. How am I supposed to know? But I wasted 4 hours trying to understand this. If the staff was knowledgeable, i would have saved 4 hours of my trip. Overall, I spent more than 10 hours trying to understand an out of state registration and fixing a faulty headlight. Never ever renting with Hertz again..

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM on Broadway in Elmhurst, traffic was stopped at a red light. I was attempting to parallel park along the curb--with a vehicle behind me even offering guidance on how to maneuver--when your company driver, who was stopped directly behind me, began honking his horn repeatedly while the light was still red. When the light turned green, I pulled away and abandoned my attempt to park--turning into St. James Street--specifically to allow your company driver to pass. However, as he continued to follow me, he still did not stop honking his horn aggressively from behind. Consequently, I pulled over to the side to let your company vehicle pass, and I took a photograph of the vehicle--as shown in the attached image--to inform your company that you should provide training and a stern warning to your employee regarding the importance of courtesy and proper driving etiquette. Yvonne is literally the person that makes the engine run here. She's professional, amiable, and even funny. She did her best to make sure I was outfitted with the best vehicle they had whenever I was there. Another bonus? Superb phone skills. It is a nightmare calling into some other locations, but she's made it a point to make each person feel welcome. The reason for dinging it a star comes down to a couple of things. The first issue is the inventory and hours. The car selection is limited to say the least; I somehow managed to get a Dodge or a Mitsubishi each time. I was really hoping for a Nissan during my last two rentals, but the lot was almost always empty on a Friday afternoon. Rentals go quick here. That leads my second issue, which is their hours are limited. They're closed after 6pm on weekdays and Saturdays is limited to noon. This means if I shoot for a weekend rental, I'm forced to have the car an extra day. When inquiring about simply keeping it for the weekend on a one day rental rate, I was told that I would get dinged for a late return. That's not terribly convenient, but that's the nature of a smaller facility.

The cars we received for the rental all ran well and were kept in very good and clean conditions, which was a pleasure to drive when it's not your own car. Also, the other reps we dealt with briefly when Jamar was busy with other customers, were also very courteous and helpful as well, which we appreciated. This Enterprise seems to work with the auto body shop we used and the whole process was pretty seamless. We had made an appointment with Enterprise through Geico and when we were at the car shop, the car shop called Enterprise for us and someone came to the shop to shuttle us to the rental place. Once at Enterprise, the employees very helpfully suggested a couple cars to us, noting which ones would still be within our daily comped rate once the taxes were included. I'm assuming this Enterprise must do the bulk of its business from Geico referrals (or possibly other insurance companies). Everything was billed directly to Geico and we only had to bring a credit card in case we incurred extra charges. After driving our rental around for a day or two, we noticed a strong chemical smell - we guess it might have been strong cleaning solvents to cover up smoking or other smells from previous renters. The smell was a little nauseating so we reached out to customer service via email and they were super helpful, suggesting we drop by again to switch cars. We were upgraded to a nicer SUV (without going over our comped daily rate from Geico) and were able to be in and out pretty quickly. The customer service was great and the employees were more than helpful. When it came time to pick up our fixed car, we were able to hitch another ride from Enterprise to the auto body shop as well. On a cold and early November morning at 4:30AM I arrived for my 5:00AM pickup at their LIC location. No one was there. I called and was emailing and waiting until around 5:30 AM and then had to scramble to find somewhere in Manhattan to rent a van for a film shoot I was producing. TIME IS MONEY and this company screwed me over. I received a call from them about 7 hours later. And the man on the phone stated arguing with me about the booking, which I had called to confirm a few days prior. Eventually he apologized and said he just forgot and that's what happened. This literally wrecked my entire day. Why would anyone ever use a vehicle company that isn't reliable.
