Very quiet and tucked away. The lobby is nice and the bar area seems to be very cozy. I used my Hilton app so I didn't have to interact with the front desk at all. Walked straight in and got my parking tag and went up to the room. Now the room, spacious -yes Updated -yes Shower is a bit small - not sure who would use the tub but I would get rid of that as it was kinda small as well that way the shower could get more space. We booked a room with a balcony as the hotel sits on the Rivers Edge- hints the name. With that please be aware that it comes with some woes. There were so many Cobb webs in the room and on the balcony you didn't want to go out and use it. I would suggest the housekeeping look up while they are cleaning as they missed this part in the rooms. And also give the balconies a good sweep. Overall it was a good stay

So clean, updated, beds are COMFORTABLE! Food is reasonably priced but even better.... The terrific staff! Erin at the bar is the most personable, down to earth gal you could hope to meet. The fella cooking at night, I think his name was Cole, was great and Hilary at the desk was fantastic. To be honest all the staff was great! This place is also nestled in an area that seems devoid of some of the less favorable things in Portland. Great walking trail the heads right at the hotel! I could go on and on but hopefully that is enough for you to understand that this was a great stay.

The soaps in the showers were top quality and smelled lovely - Rooms were very quiet and the whole hotel had a luxurious feel. - The staff were INCREDIBLE! Special shout out to the front desk staff who helped out immensely. We did have to change rooms in the middle (our reservation, not the hotel's fault) and they made it seamless. - Extra special shout out to Richie in the valet service. All of the valet guys were incredible, quick and kind. - The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was delicious and relatively affordable for the quality. - Wine hour (free wine from 5-6pm) was a nice touch to get our evenings going in the right direction. The wine wasn't the best but I can't complain about free wine and appetizers. - Our only criticism was the lack of water stations on the hotel floors. Not sure if we couldn't find them - they did have ice machines - but we did have to go back to the lobby and into the fitness room to fill our bottles. Not a bad thing, just a little inconvenient. Overall this hotel was an average hotel I picked it because it was for Amex and I needed to use my credit before the year-end. During our stay, the fire alarm went off and that was insanely loud. No one can sleep through that. Gladly when we came down to the lobby they stated that it was a false alarm. Soon after about an hour or so we got a text message saying that it was a false alarm. I did enjoy the breakfast here at the lobby! That was actually pretty delicious and I would say to try it out. The beds and comfortable and you can also bring your dog into this hotel which is kind of cool! That was a bonus seeing all the different-sized dogs roaming around.

There is another room on the 3rd floor. St. John Suite is very spacious with 2 balconies, 2 closets, double vanities, one large walk in shower with 2 shower heads on opposite ends. The common area on the first floor is very charming (mostly). Kinda made me feel like I was in a movie, the floor/stairs creak, the decor can make you feel creeped out. There's on site parking which was wonderful but the entrance can be easily missed in the dark. There are "linen closets" in the hallways if you need more towels and toiletries. There is a washer dryer in the basement which was convenient.

The park is full of old run down trailers that are covered in green slimy moss, and garbage everywhere! The carousel is indoors so that's a nice perk when it's cold or rainy. It's a large carousel with different animals as well as some benches, and they're adding others soon--including a U of O themed duck. The rides are pretty inexpensive at $2 each; you'll buy tokens at the gift shop. (They only take cards with a minimum $5 purchase.) Alternatively, you can pay $15 for unlimited rides for the day. The gift shop has lots of stuff... except t-shirts, which they were out of the day we came in and that was a bummer since I'd wanted to get one for the little one. There are indoor toilets here (yay) and they have some vendors--at least, there as a cotton candy vendor here when we visited. They also rent the space out and there was a nice private room off to the side of the carousel. There's lots of parking here since it's part of the overall Riverfront Park.

When I walked in, the cashier promptly stood up, but I was trying to pull up the photo of my berry pass so I waited off to the side. A woman paid and I overheard the cashier mention that she needs the physical berry pass so I scooted behind the person who was in line next since I no longer had to find the photo on my phone. The people who came into the shop created a fork in the line, so I let them go in front of me because I was the one who caused the confusion. After they paid, the cashier would not accept that I was waiting in line, however, the woman she tried to help told me to go. The cashier scoffed when I came up to the counter. Then she was very abrupt with my sale, and as I was leaving I heard her tell the woman who let me go, "that was very kind of you." I turned around and said, "I've literally been waiting in line" to which the woman said, "I know you have." but the cashier wouldn't even look at me. It was not a great experience for me. Thankfully my daughter was oblivious to the encounter and enjoyed the ride itself.

We saw far more than we would have had we been doing this on our own (and would not have made it to Timberline Lodge as we are not accustomed to driving on snow). Being that it was during the week and not during the peak season, it was not very crowded. Being a private tour, there was greater flexibility and efficiency. And then there was our guide, John, who raised the quality of the tour experience to a level far exceeding our highest expectations. John is very friendly and personable, incredibly knowledgeable of the history of the area, and truly passionate about what he does. We could not have asked for a better touring experience. The next time that we are in Portland, we shall do another of their private tours and hopefully be John's guest once again.

I'm on my last week here in Portland, and would be embarrassed to leave without getting the tourist…read morehighlights. So, car-less, I succumbed to booking a "tour". BEST DECISION OF THE WEEK! Why drive yourself to Multnomah Falls ( still closed due to the carelessness and bravado of a 15 year old playing with fireworks in the forest) and miss half the views when you can book a $60 1/2 day tour with "door-to-door" pick up from your hotel? The guide, John was prompt and the vehicle clean and ready. Overcast or not, the show goes on. We stopped by several other downtown hotels, then headed on our way. JOHN was a wealth of local knowledge and sprinkled in little-known eco and geological facts without ANY hint of condescension. He was fun and very knowledgeable, taking time to be a roving personal photographer. All along the way, John pointed out numerous seasonal and year round waterfalls, spending the appropriate amount of time at each stop. TIP: Take a few dollars for the gift shop and outdoor snack stand where you can pick up a warming cup of coffee or sweet treat.

The back side overlooks Clackamas Lake. Nice and quiet, which we pride ourselves here in Estacada. Plenty of up front parking. A very important place for our little town.
