Our first visit in since the changeover and it is GREAT! They made some nice changes to the decor to give it a Mexican flair with a large touch of class. I love the wall sconces holding lots of bright-colored plants. The layout of the place is still the same, just new furniture and placement of the furniture to make it an inviting place to dine and not just grab a drink for sunset. The food is amazing. We enjoyed the Chorizo Pizza nd the Flautas and neither one disappointed! The chorizo pizza had a perfect balance of spice while the flautas were done just perfectly. Not overly fried and super flavorful. Our servers were Justin and Shelia. They were humming on a Friday later afternoon. Service bar was jamming but even so, Shelia did an excellent job interacting with us and suggesting the flautas. Justin has a great attitude and very friendly. The server/bar assistant was a female on this particular evening and she was working hard. With a smile at the same time! A great vibe. The tall manager has a nice presence and is very helpful for his staff. There was another manager, maybe the bar manager, who we found a bit out of character for a busy Friday shift. He was measuring drink ingredients and truly seemed in the way of the bar staff. It was odd enough to take note. He even sat outside where the area was roped off for a party that I guess was due in that night. Not sure why you would sit down and hold a conversation with some staff member while the place is BUSY! Oh well...working out the management kinks is not my job. I drove two hours to Tampa yesterday with the sole purpose of eating at this restaurant. My friend was able to get us a reservation at 4:45pm. Part of our party was running slightly late, which is oftentimes an issue at many places but not here! The staff was super understanding and did not rush us at all. We started off with the guacamole, after hearing another take raving about it, and it did NOT disappoint!! The guacamole was absolutely delicious. The chips, however, were extremely stale and we had to send them back for a fresh batch. The second batch of chips were much better. To save a few dollars, we decided to order a pitcher of the traditional margarita to split since we were all going to drink margaritas anyway. It was enough for a little more than 4 glasses full, which was perfect for us. The glasses already came with salt on the rim and a lime, which I greatly appreciated. I personally loved the atmosphere and sitting outside on the balcony. The views were spectacular! Sitting on the balcon was hands down my favorite part of the entire experience. My only complaint, however, was that the quesadillas were a bit too greasy for our taste. We all ordered the carne asada quesadilla, which did have decent flavor, but we're not very enjoyable due to the grease. If I were to go back, I would likely order a different dish. read more

Casa Cami is located in the Current Hotel on the rooftop. They have one of the best views in Tampa, in my opinion, with a beautiful view over Rock Point (over the water). The renovation on this space is just beautiful, giving such tropical vibes.I highly recommend having a reservation when you dine in. The menu consists of Mexican food. The menu also has notations for what items are gluten-free. It is a small menu, the chicken pillard is my absolute favorite, and I highly recommend that. Next would be the queso frito and trio of tacos. The tacos all come on corn tortillas, so they are gluten-free. We had a great time coming in for cocktails and would highly recommend drinks and views. Things to note: when you come in, just take the elevator on the left to the rooftop. I've been hearing rave reviews of Casa Cami, so decided to head here for a weeknight dinner. Reservations during the week aren't too hard to find, but our outdoor dining plans were derailed by a monsoon storm. The staff did move us inside and did a great job of making sure everyone stayed dry. The paloma I had off of the cocktail menu was refreshing and the chips and salsa trio was just the right way to start the meal. I ended up having the quesadilla for my entree and it was decent, but the cheese was a bit overpowering. Overall, I wish I had gotten to take advantage of the views everyone raves about, but I'll be back soon enough to capture them. read more

$10 CHARGE FOR PARKING 10 MINUTES! We didn't have a reservation so we had to get on the list to wait for a table. The host said it was over 45 minutes so we left. Self parking charged us $10 for barely parking 10 minutes. Rip off. Been to too many restaurants with a view that had mediocre food but didn't charge people for parking. I absolutely loved this rooftop so much! You can pay to park in the guest garage and then walk down to the hotel where the restaurant is located. Be advised happy hour is only available for those sitting at the bar. The guacamole was amazing and the chips were a perfect pair. The drink options were great and the pitcher was definitely worth it. The views are fantastic. Sitting outside in the "lounge" area was great at sunset and offered a great view of the water. My friend and I came to Casa Cami on Friday to enjoy a beverage and watch the sunset. We were stunned with the atmosphere inside of the restaurant, and the hostesses let us know that even if we didn't have a reservation, we could sit on the balcony in the lounge areas and order food. we ordered the salsa Trio, which was a bit pricey ($18), but came with plenty of chips and different types of salsa The spicy margarita we had was delicious, and the views from the outside sitting area made the cocktail hour absolutely perfect! One thing I will say is that I had to pay for parking ($5-$10), which doesn't make much sense as we were in Westshore and we were there to spend money on the property... the service took at least 15 minutes to even come greet us when we first sat down, and our server really didn't have a personality. The view is great, food was good. A few kinks to work out as a new restaurant. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and were encouraged to get a drink at the bar while they were getting our table ready. Instead of coming to get us at the bar (15 feet away) the hostess called my cell phone to tell me the table was ready and needed me to come to the host stand and when we did, our table still wasn't ready. Mind you it was early and the place wasn't even halfway full. When we sat down at the table, it was another 15 minutes until our waitress came and she admitted she wasn't sure if we were her table or not. We get it, new procedures getting worked out. Then there were other red flags. Broken glass that was not properly cleaned up, drama with walk ins taking reserved tables, and we saw a couple seated at a table with used cutlery. We really wanted to enjoy a nice dinner out but sadly left underwhelmed and felt distracted by all the things going on around us. Reserved a table outside for a friend's baby sprinkle brunch. They were accommodating and allowed us to add some small decor on the table! The views were so nice and I loved how the outside seating was set up. It has to be one of my favorite rooftop restaurants I've been to in Tampa. The drinks were all good and the vibes were there. I will definitely have to come back during sunset. The food was pretty good. I ordered the carne asada tacos ($20) and my friend ordered the chicken tacos ($17). The portions were expensive for the amount of food you got which was 3 tacos each with no sides. I also ordered fries ($6) and they were on the thicker side and battered. One of the girls at our table ordered the chips and guajillo Queso ($14) and it was a pretty decent size. The Queso was probably my favorite thing I tried. Two other girls ordered the flautas ($17), the portion size was also decent and they said it was good. Someone ordered the Benedict ($20) and wasn't a big fan of it but it was a normal sized Benedict and included potatoes. My wife and I stayed at the Current for the weekend, and were feeling lazy, so we decided to dine at Casa Cami on Friday night. We are so glad that we did! This is NOT over-priced, average quality "hotel food". The chef has an outstanding gift for building, and balancing flavors. We had the Snapper Crudo, Green Chili Chicken, and the Bistec (no pics from dinner). It was so delicious, that we returned on Sunday for small bites and drinks, which were also amazing. I was looking forward to another new Tampa hit and was very disappointed. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and they had lots of tables open. The service was very slow even though they had multiple servers just standing around. The food was very average and the steak in the carne asada taco was tough and chewy. The table next to us ended up sending their food back. The chips and queso were delicious and we liked how the taco trio came with the toppings. Overall the only appeal to this place was the views. It is located on the rooftop of a hotel. The hotel staff are very rude and not helpful when trying to make your way to the restaurant. You also have to pay the hotel to park. Very disappointing! So I've been wanting to check this place out since it opened a month or so ago. Was able to get reservations for a sunset dinner. The rooftop has phenomenal views of the gulf and that's the bonus. The food was pretty good. Felt somewhat authentic to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. The downfall of this place is the service. Absolutely horrible. Waited 30 minutes to get someone to take a drink order and Another 15 minutes to get to drink. Food came out a decent time after ordering. I was there way longer than I needed to be. The restaurant was a great vibe inside but chose to sit outside which has a beautiful view and a wonderful breeze. The menu is limited but tasty. Ordered the ceviche which was horrible. Mixed with tangerine and grapefruit it was very tart and tasteless. No lime juice at all. Next I had the green chili chicken who was delicious and cooked perfectly.
