I've already posted a review about this place but I can't speak enough of how great this place is. Casa de Raku by Chef Endo is easily one of the best tapas spots in Las Vegas. The restaurant beautifully combines Chef Endo's Japanese heritage with the Spanish tapas experience, using high-quality Japanese ingredients to create dishes that feel both unique and incredibly flavorful. The menu changes, but whenever we visit, we always order the Pulpo Ajillo and the Garlic Mussels--they're favorites for a reason! They also regularly offer fantastic specials, like the Fried Olives and Wagyu Steak, which are always worth trying. The service is consistently excellent, and the entire experience feels welcoming and well executed. Honestly, I'm still surprised this place doesn't have a line out the door because the quality is that good. If you're looking for high-quality tapas with a creative Japanese influence, Casa de Raku is definitely a place you need to try. One of my favorite spots in Las Vegas! read more

This was a delightful dinner experience. The service from chef was amazing. Love the open prep area so enjoy the counter seating. So on yo the food review. 1. Pan con Tomate with Jamon; must have. Delicious, fine cut tasty meat, with cheese on bread with olive oil. 2. Mini meat and cheese plate, must have. The honey is raw, still with a honeycomb. Goes well with the meat, cheese and olive oil. 3. Japanese Vaca wagyu 8oz; a must. Perfect amount of fat ; meat is tender nicely seasoned. Make sure medium rare. 4. Japanese Sangria. Plum wine flavored and tasty, loved it. 5. Seafood paella; like any paella it takes a while to prepare. Was not a fan of it. It was a bit bland and dry. But you can just a bit of salt to season it. 6. Beet salad; must have. Love the tender beets with who knows the sauce and dressing. Hints: 1.sit on the counter /bar to get the full experience. 2. The chef made recommendations after ordering and it was spot on. Take the chef's advice. 3. Happy hour is from 6-9pm and delicious options starting at $5. read more

Tapas lover listen.... If you want to have some nice time late night. Pull your chair and grab some bites at Casa De Raku. Food are so flavorful, must order items Foie Gras Terrine, Wagyu Steak, Croqueta and I was lucky that they had my favorite oyster "Fat Bastard" which large and briny. Received very friendly and attentive from my chef Nori and server at the bar. You can watch them make all the magic happen at the bar. Picture menu will help you order with confidence! Best time to drop by... they happy hour time from 6pm to 9pm. Make sure you order Albarino wine since it paired so well with most dishes here. Definitely will go back to try more items. I'm not sure how this place currently has a 4.6/5 rating. My experience was mediocre at best. Firstly, parking in this small plaza is a nightmare. So, give yourself ample time to play the parking lot vulture game. When you first walk in, be aware there's a dart board that people might be shooting darts at. This is definitely a safety concern if neither party is paying attention. There's not a host stand nor signage indicating if you should stand at the bar awkwardly or if you should seat yourself. So, we stood there for a couple of minutes waiting to be acknowledged. Seating is pretty limited, another thing to be aware of. There were 3 half booth/half table seats (high top) and only bar seats from what I could see. Maybe not the most ADA accessible spot. They were offering happy hour when we were there, which is neat since it was a Saturday at 7pm! They had some good options for drinks and food at $5 a pop. We looked at both the happy hour menu and regular menu. We each ordered a glass of Tempranillo wine. They had some solid options from Spain and elsewhere but not a lot of "by the glass" options. Pretty typical for a small establishment though. Sadly, the paella couldn't be served/prepared? The server stated they were out of some other items. Her wording led me to believe they just didn't have the operational capacity to make more than one paella dish at a time, which is disappointing. The food was mediocre. The octopus was definitely chewy, and seemed like sliced tako that should have been served as nigiri vs what you'd expect at a tapas spot. The bacon wrapped dates were way too big and the weird mini cleavers were not the greatest for trying to cut the food down with--they didn't have normal utensils nor napkins (just small bar napkins). I did like the pan con tomate. Honestly, this place was super disappointing--I started out with 3 stars but then realized through the course of writing this review, 3 was a reach and 2 was more appropriate. I don't think I'll come back here and especially not for a date. They have a LOT to improve on. read more

We were planning to have dinner at another place in this strip mall plaza when we saw this place at our old favorite Sweets Raku spot and decided to give it a try instead and we were both glad we did. Same cozy space as before but redecorated to have that Spanish bar ambiance. Service was excellent and the food was one of the best tapas we've had in awhile. They have a happy hour menu Tuesday thru Saturday from 6p-9p and we tried every item on it and everything was amazing including the $5 house wines. The spanish octopus was so tender and full of flavor and the bacon wrapped dates were excellent. The basque cheesecake and flan were a great end to this meal. This was a bitter sweet experience on our first visit to Casa de Raku. As it wasn't our first visit to this building because it was the prior Sweets Raku which is sadly no longer around. We were told the owner wanted a concept change. I just wished he opened Casa de Raku in a nearby location and kept both to have the best of both worlds. As for the food, the theme is Spanish with some dishes having a fusion touch. A great time to visit but it does get crowded is 6-9 pm for their Happy Hour. They have a great wine list, some beers on tap and even some Espresso. The small dessert menu offering Basque Cheesecake, Flan and Affogato was just ok to me. The Basque Cheesecake was smooth and creamy, but they add a walnut and almond layer that changed the texture and for me, it changes everything. The flan was average. All the tapas entrees we ordered were all amazing. I can't pick one overall favorite, but the Oyster French Onion soup was a nice take on that soup. For me I liked this better than the traditional French Onion soup. As for the service and vibe of the place, it's a great place for a date. The service was top notch. The chef is great at what he does. As much as I would like to gate keep this place, I think they are already known for a great experience. read more

Craving pintxos and Txakoli!!! Needing a return trip to San Sebastián!!! Glad we have a Spanish tapas place in Vegas that satisfies the cravings. Not mad on taking over Sweets Raku (ok maybe a little). Very warm and cozy place. Service was great though out. People still mistake the place as Raku and Sweets Raku. Love to innovative Spanish tapas. The pintxos abd tapas were really good. Each has great flavors that brings me back to Spain. We tried most of the menu. We like almost everything we ate except the green mussels. Some of our favorites are the pintxos- foie gras, tomato and jamon, croquettas, and pulpos They have a selection of Spanish wine. Love my Txokoli- sparking dry white wine. Our waitress was trying to pour it locals in the Basque region in Spain. Make room for dessert- the basque cheesecake was good but not close to La Vina but will do. Sure do miss Sweets Raku. lol Will definitely come back and try the rest of the menu. FYI. Great spot, bot inch action when we went in, but everything was great, octopus not the best for me, little chewy , but don't take this as a complaint. Artichoke baby you think you died and went to heaven, next time I'll order 5. Get extra salt to sprinkle over Wine selection 4 star, what I had was good but in my opinion a tapas place needs more by the glass selection. I understand the challenges of that but I'm just voicing my opinion. Highly recommend!!!! Didn't expect less from Raku given their other endeavors so congrats for opening this place and adding more variety to this area of town when it comes to choices for food. WSOP Day 44 - Wrapping a long daylight 10/20 NLH cash session at Aria and running into a bud, "dude, you smell like a strip club and what's with the glitter" I ask. Something about an ex, spilled beer.... "you wanna eat?" I interrupt "You just said I smell like a strip club". "IDK, it made me hungry". Japanese owned Spanish restaurant is commonplace in Japan. But in a city where there are already outstanding, authentic Spanish eateries, why? Straight to it, the single best menu item is the iberico katsu. The darker color and deeper flavor of the iberico pork just works coated in panko and deep fried. Cooked mid rare, it is tender, juicy and flavorful needing no sauce. Sadly, it is the ONLY fusion dish. The jamon iberico is solid but that has nothing to do with the restaurant rather its producer. Pintxos fails to impress. The tomato, while bright and acidic has just too much of it on the bread that quickly becomes soggy. The egg is essentially egg salad with the addition of some spices. The foie gras, pan seared and sat atop bread before being doused with wine used to deglaze the pan. Again, soggy bread. Nice selection of Spanish wines. Fair off Strip markup. Very friendly service. Unfortunately, the menu lacks depth. There aren't enough selections to try and pivot and save the meal. Opted to cut losses and return to Aria to continue our Spanish meal. read more

I heard they are the only restaurant in Vegas that serves Spanish-Japanese cuisine so I had to check them out. But what exactly is Spanish-Japanese cuisine? The first impression when I entered is that It feels like a bar and izakaya combined -modern vibes with the welcoming atmosphere of an izakaya. (Although there are still lingering memories of the dessert bar that it used to be) They were offering $5 happy hour wine and tapas so we started with those. The jamon croquetas had a lot of flavor, the truffle potatoes were delicious, the herring is like sashimi European style. The couple beside us ordered something sizzling and the chef started explaining that it's a wagyu hamburg steak with Spanish Sherry sauce sauce, and watching the couple react to their first bite convinced us to order the same thing, and we're so glad we did because this is one of the best things we've had all year. The chef suggested pairing it with a Spanish red wine, and it definitely elevated the experience. We decided to order a cheese board just talk to the chef about food the rest of the night, and he made us feel so welcome and at home. We ended the night with a basque cheesecake with manchego cheese and it was the perfect conclusion to our meal. I would say this is a spot if you want to relax, have a glass of wine or coffee, and try some tapas. We'll definitely be back to try their iberico katsu, Japanese Paella, and affogato. read more

This place is small, with maybe 4 tables. The bathroom is quirky, so def go wash your hands and look around. Our waiter was excessively chatty. I'm sure he was trying to be friendly, but it became uncomfortable to be interrupted by him. We ordered: Asparagus- beautifully blanched and maintained a nice crunch. It had a little bit of flakey salt and came with a side of a yogurt dip that tasted a lot like ranch dressing. Egg salad- Super creamy texture egg salad, slightly smokier in flavor than you'd expect Patatas bravas- This comes with iberico ham, which compliments it well. I'm used to patatas bravas coming with a rich red garlicky sauce, but this one came with a poached egg instead. I've had the iberico ham before on it's own and it was fine, if not a little too salty. It works really well paired with the potatoes and rich egg yolk, but I do wish it was the red bravas sauce. Also the potatoes are cooked in beef or pork tallow (fat), so ordering it without the jamon does not make it vegetarian! Gambas al Ajillo- This dish consists of shrimp in a sauce with cut up chilies in it, a lemon wedge, a few pieces of toasted bread, and a roasted garlic bulb. The garlic on the bread was great, but the shrimp was rubbery. This tasted very "reheated from frozen" and was not worth the nearly $20 for this plate. Pan con tomate- crushed fresh tomato on a piece of garlic-rubbed toast. This one is classic and delicious. Possibly my favorite of the tapas. Iberico Katsu- One small piece, about the size of half of a bar of soap. It was okay. Kind of hard to share since it's one piece. The breading was oddly reminiscent of a McDonald's chicken nugget, but in a good way. Baked Churros- 2 sticks of churros and a dark chocolate dipping sauce. The chocolate was great, not too sweet and nice and thick. The churros were plain (no cinnamon sugar) and seemed fluffier since it wasn't deep fried. This could be better with a custard filling, but then you're basically getting a naked eclair with chocolate on the side. It was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. Basque Cheesecake- this is the stellar dish. It comes with crushed walnuts and almonds as the crust, and grated manchego cheese on top. I haven't had a basque cheesecake with a nut crust before, and never seen it with manchego on top. The light saltiness of the cheese really enhances this dish, and the crunch from the crust is so nice. HIGHLY recommend this one. You don't want to enjoy the manchego, but you do and then you can't stop thinking about it. read more

This place has taken over the spot of the beloved Sweets Raku even though its part of the Raku Family. The restaurant has been remodeled but the bathroom looks the same as Sweets Raku. I do miss the giant Las Vegas or landmarks mural that was by the counter-top area. The parking is horrible but it's expected of this busy plaza. Read the signs carefully for street parking in the nearby neighborhood area (you might get ticket/towed/ or worse). I made a reservation at least two weeks in advance for a party of 8 during happy hour. There was no credit card requirement as oppose to their Chicken Izakaya location (Toridokoro Raku). The menu had very nice photos and food came out in a timely manner. My overall impression of the food that it was "just okay, I wouldn't rush to come back." Their utensils were horrible (i.e., the forks) was not made to pick up ANY food. The drinks were good but food was just okay. It's only worth to go during happy hour based on what you get. Might get the pintxos (Pan con tomate with ham) again but that would be it. read more

Dry aged steak, cooked perfectly, juicy, full of flavor, almost made me forgive my ex. Tiny place that seats about 20 people. Heirloom tomatoes - they sourced nice tomatoes, but all they did was microplane cheese on top. Egg salad - really tasty Pork katsu - tender and flavorful Devil's - creamy, sweet and savory. Loved it. Fried avocado - was just ok. Mussels - status quo. You can pay $5 for a bread au gratin with the leftover broth. $80 for the above items for 2 people with no drinks. Food was ok, but nothing mind blowing where we would rush to come back for. I love all the Raku restaurants, so my excitement was through the roof for this one. Food in Spain is soooo delicious - finding pinchos in Vegas was a dream! The ham / egg pincho was phenomenal. Perfectly salty ham with a touch of sweetness from the glaze. The bread was crunchy, and that olive oil drizzle? Heaven. The eggs were perfect. To be honest, I would've ordered a ton more if my wallet could handle it hahaha. I'm used to paying $2 per pincho, not $7-$16. But hey, it's Vegas. It was delicious nonetheless. The sausage in broth was a great snack - the broth was super tasty, I'm so curious what it was made of! Rich, hearty, and full of layers of flavor. Every sip was like a warm hug. The sausage was juicy and tender, and the mustard was unexpected but totally brilliant. Little flavor explosions in every bite. The pulpo was divine too. Perfectly grilled with just the right seasoning. The texture was spot on - not too chewy, not too soft. The char on the outside gave it a delicious smoky flavor, while the inside stayed tender. Everything so far was great (albeit a bit expensive) except the artichoke. I'm not an artichoke connoisseur but I do cook some with dinners from time to time. I was curious what a *fancy* artichoke would be like, but was a bit disappointed. The sauce wasn't very flavorful and it was incredibly runny. In limbo since Sweets Raku closed in June a new concept called Casa de Raku took its place early November, a focus on "European style" Tapas seemingly out of place for the icon of Japanese charcoal-grilled Meats though the experience early on shows signs of promise. Located at 5040 Spring Mountain Road, a counter plus tables to the back creating an intimate experience despite fairly basic décor, it is on the heels of Chef Mitsuo Endo's travels abroad that Casa de Raku's menu focuses on cured Meats including exclusive Bone in Jamon Iberico for $30 an ounce. Well-price across the Wine List, a Spanish White well-matched to most of a curated plates, Devils on Horseback prove competent while boiled Sausages with Mustard and oily "Patatas Bravas" without their signature Sauce are both forgettable, at best. Open 6pm to 2am for walk-ins, the staff friendly but still green, Pan Con Tomate at $5 a slice is laughable with EDO just down the way while Ham Croquettas and fried Iberico Katsu are both beautifully executed. Impressing with an Artichoke, simple yet flawless for $6, seared Foie Gras hits the mark next to the same Berry Jam as Burnt Cheesecake brightened by Shaved Cheese while "Churros" made from baked Choux may leave purists craving the real thing. read more

Went for a girls night out for wine and conversation. Boutique wine bar with great wine selection from Spanish and Italian kinds. Loved the rose wine glasses they have for women! We loved the cheese platter with some different Spanish some rare cheeses which we learned the the types can change and not always the same. Iberico was great...price range and portions were fair for the iberico. The Spanish tortilla was just okay. The type of onions used in it too sweet and unexpected. The variety of bruschettas looked good to try but were priced as a single piece which was a bit much for a small local place. Menu is small would have loved more variety but worked for a night out of catching up and snacks in between. Great place for a date or meeting with friends or to talk business . Newly opened pintxos place by Raku! We were so excited to stumble upon this replacement for Sweets Raku that even though we'd literally just finished eating at our Vegas favorite, Raku, we HAD to stop in and get some pintxos, wine, and dessert. Super quaint decor that transportation d us back to Spain. Great service, friendly staff, and solid selection of traditional pintxos. It seems like the kitchen is still working execution out, because the pintxos and dessert we ordered tended to be a bit bland and lacking in textures/flavors, but we have full confidence that chef will sort it out and his passion for food will shine through very soon since this restaurant is so new. Still a super enjoyable experience, and the wine we selected was excellent. And frankly, a glass of good Spanish wine and hand carved jamon de bellota in a charming space is hard to beat! read more

Food is a 3 (not bad, but not good), but minus 1 for value (at $75/ person off strip, I should get good food), and another minus 1 for ambiance. Food, it's mid. Nothing was good, but nothing was bad. Mussels lacked flavor (we left most of it untouched), jamon is only mid tier level (not "accorn-forward" enough and a little dry), steak was fine, everything else forgettable. Also, what tapas place runs out of paella at 7:30pm?! Tomatoes in the tomato salad were flavorless. At $150, I can go to L'Atelier and get top-level jamon with unlimited tomato bread SMH! I didn't gag on anything, but I feel I should be wowed at this price point off-strip. Ambiance: service was wonky, they kept messing with the light level mid service, and the one server wouldn't stop talking even tho it was clear we were mid-conversation. If the food isn't good, at least let me catch up with my friend! Broski, I don't care that you wanna visit Bali. Only good thing... it was empty and we didn't have to wait to get seated.
