I've been to Kase Sake & Sushi - the first being last June and the second time earlier this month. On our first visit, we arrived for an early dinner on a Friday evening. We were the only diners for the majority of the time we were there, with maybe one party that arrived while we were mid-meal. We enjoyed the Oomori, which was a 7 course tasting at $56. It came with a seasonal appetizer, 4 piece seasonal fish nigiri, sashimi special, blue crab hand roll, 4 piece nigiri flight, negi toro hand roll, and 2 piece chef nigiri special. I really appreciated the pace as each course came out one at a time and we really enjoyed it all. I like how it also went from nigiri to hand roll and then back again. We also added an order of amaebi nigiri $14 at the end. It was great experience at a great price and knew we would return. Recently, they had a special going on for their three year anniversary - $39 for their Shinsen Omakase, which normally goes for $55. They had this special for the whole month of May and now June! On this Saturday evening, the early dinner seating was quite packed and reservations were necessary. The Shinsen included edamame, seaweed salad or miso soup, along with 3 piece sashimi special, 10 piece seasonal nigiri, and chef's choice fresh hand roll. We appreciated the generous bowl of miso soup and the mix of seaweed in the salad. The salmon sashimi was just sashimi versus the first time it was presented with a sauce. We appreciated the waitress telling us what each piece of nigiri was when she brought it to our table. However, the other waitress who brought the hand rolls over didn't say a thing when she brought them over. Kase may not offer the largest cuts of fish, but the rice is done well and the fish is fresh and each bite is such a great bite. Everything just tastes great. You may leave a little hungry though, so keep that in mind. Our first experience was an easy 5 and this one was a 4. Perhaps because it was a lot busier on our second visit, so those platters of sushi were done quickly. While our first experience was at an enjoyable pace and each plate seemed a little more thoughtful. We also got the extra hand roll on our last visit. Nonetheless, we would return but probably choose a less busier time. read more

I made a reservation online and we were seated immediately at the sushi bar. The chef was very friendly and the waitress was quick to remove our plates after we were done. We got the shinshen omakase, uni sushi, oysters and green mussels. It did take a while for the sushi to come out but the sushi chef was working by himself and the restaurant was packed. He did apologize multiple times. For omakase, you can pick between seaweed salad, edamame, or miso soup. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the uni (there was an option between domestic and Japan. We chose domestic.) and the scallop! The scallop nigiri melted in my mouth! And I usually do not like scallops. I was stuffed by the time that the hand roll came out. It was a spicy truffle hamachi hand roll. We got a deal for their three year anniversary, which is through the end of this month, but I will definitely come back and happily pay full price for the omakase set. read more

I came here during their 3yr anniversary and they were having a special for their Shinsen omakase. I was lucky enough to snag a reservation! First impressions were amazing. Service was spot on! From the hostess to to the server to the chef. Amazing! The seaweed salad came out first 10/10: super refreshing and light. Great start to a meal. You also had a choice of edamame or soup but I opted for the seaweed salad. Shinsen omakase 6.5/10: it came with 10 chef Choice nigiri. Overall the fish were fresh. Our favorites are the salmon ones. The tuna didn't wow up that mic. Everything else was not bad. However the biggest complaint was the rice which is one of the big factors of good nigiri. The rice ratio was too high and unfortunately the rice was too mushy. The flavors were also very good such as the different garnishes went well w the fish. Wagyu roll 7/10: good flavor and cripsy texture but the meat that was given was very small it was hard to feel and taste the Wagyu. Baked crab roll 6.5/10: this dish had rly good potential however I felt like it was missing something it was pretty heavy and I think it may be a preference but it felt weird eating warm cucumber in a roll. Overall the service stood out the most. The place is pretty Tiny but it makes the experience a bit more intimate. Unfortunately the rice can use some extra work but the fish was fresh! read more

I stumbled on Kase on a whim as it was basically the only legit sushi place open between lunch and dinner and was not ayce. If you get the chance to, sit at the bar and try one of the omakase sets. My party and I tried the 9 course omakase meal. Every course had different flavors and pairings. Throughout my meal, I had oyster, hamachi, toro, salmon, Kobe nigiri, a lobster handroll (delicious!), and eel with coconut flakes. The chef can also serve flavors more to your preference of food. The chef said he uses different types of wasabi and soy sauce. They use the house made soy sauce on their dishes. The interior is cozy and quiet. I walked in on a Friday night and was seated right away. We went here for a birthday dinner, the wife got one of the omakase courses, she said they were all very good except for just one that she didn't care for but I dont remember which and I believe it was a personal preference not due to the food itself. So if you are a sushi lover im sure this place is good for you. It was a slower night when we had come by and we were seated right away, the restaurant is very clean and well kept, no issues there. The service was pretty good except for the next part that I will explain. The reason for the 3 star review is because I do not eat seafood at all, however the wife loves it so we ended up here for her but I can usually find items that I can eat at most of the sushi spots in town. When we ordered I asked the waiter about the options that had meat and not seafood, I was recommended some of the wagyu beef options, I ordered 2-3 of the wagyu things and the gyoza. Gyoza was fine and the other wagyu options were also fine, except the 8 piece wagyu roll. When received I took a bite and immediately knew something was off, there ended up being something called kani kama in the wagyu roll, which is imitation crab from what I now understand. I instantly felt nauseous. I understand I am eating at a sushi restaurant, but when someone asks what you have for the regular meat options and only orders all the non seafood options, it might be nice to let them know that one of the options that I ordered has seafood in it. The waiter was kind, apologized, and did not charge for the roll, and asked if I wanted anything else however there really wasn't anything else for me to order. The omakase included soup or salad, 9 pieces of sushi, and a hand roll. Maybe I shouldn't have expected too much for $39. I'll keep my comments about the food brief. The rice was undercooked--almost like risotto. The seaweed for the hand roll was soggy and had an old smell. My friend actually laughed after her first bite, and I felt bad for bringing her. She ended up not eating the rice and just had the sashimi on top. I'm not sure if that's their style, but I've never had sushi with grainy rice. We've wanted to try Kase Sake & Sushi for a while. Since we were in the area it presented a great opportunity. Lucky for us we came mid-afternoon on Monday and the only ones there. The restaurant is small but intimate, and very live inside. We sat at the bar and our server was very helpful. We tried the 4 course for each of us ($32), as well as a few additional items. I hate how this fine sushi restaurant is located in between a Wing Stop and a Hotworx in a very aesthetically unpleasing strip mall, but I guess that's most establishments in Vegas. If you're looking for quality sushi over quantity, look no further than Kase. This isn't for the person who's looking for an AYCE experience which I personally loath. The sushi rice and sashimi is very small here, but more in line with an authentic sushi restaurant in Japan. The fish is absolute quality and does not taste fishy at all. The accent garnishes on top including garlic, ginger, etc on the sushi is a perfect way to enhance the flavors of the sushi without overpowering as well which I really enjoyed. The spicy tuna and hamachi crispy rice is also quite delicious here without the spiciness overpowering. We also ordered the Halibut special of the day and it was light and very fresh. The staff here absolutely goes above and beyond to celebrate birthdays, even presenting their guest of honor with a birthday card from the staff along with a matcha mochi that's comes with a candle. There was 1 other couple in the restaurant. The server balked a little at our request for a booth (2 were empty) and reasoned that "if a larger party came in...". If you never had an Omakase experience then I'd say this is a good experience for you to start at since the process point isn't too high and is a great introduction. I've eaten here at least twice but I'll be basing this review off my most recent experience. We got the Oomori (7 course tasting). The food was decent but ironically the hand roll seemed like the best part of the whole thing so I'd suggest that and ordering a la carte if you don't choose Omakase. But then again each item is priced way more than the Omakase so it seems right to come here mainly for the Omakase. This whole experience for us took 2 hours but that's because they started to sync our omakase with another group. If you come here when it's less busy then your experience will definitely be faster and more enjoyable. Although normal omakase can take this long, this experience would be best if it was faster. We noticed that there was a premium tasting as well but not until after we ordered because it doesn't have it itemized underneath. Would definitely consider this next time especially when it's slower. read more

Now is this the best omakase I've ever had? Not even close! But is this super high quality, creative flavorings, fresh fish, ultra high value set of a meal? Absolutely. Pacing was also great as we ate pretty quickly and they kept up with us. Not sure if that would change if they had been busier. But we finished our meal in 45 minutes, which is fast for omakase.
