We walked in at 8:00 PM on a Thursday evening and were immediately seated - the decor is cozy and gives the home-y style traditional American-Italian vibe with the red gingham table covers along with the bold, red walls. This is a Japanese-Italian concept where it felt more Italian forward with Japanese ingredients, style of cooking, and flavor profiles. I got the Linguine Scampi & Mushroom Cream but subbed the shrimp for their grilled chicken - I love how flavorful and light the dish was. The chicken was cooked and grilled to perfection. The pasta at a perfect al-dente. My sibling got the Linguine Uni Tomato Cream Sauce which they really enjoyed. The pasta was a great single portion, filled me up without the heavy filling you get after having pasta. We made sure to save room for their dessert sampler which I highly recommend getting! The sampler comes with their house made desserts: Soy Milk Panna Cotta with Okinawa Brown Sugar, Black Sesame Blancmange (black sesame milk pudding garnished with strawberry sauce), and their Tiramisu. In a busy complex, it doesn't stand out but the food does. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and it was not a problem, we were quickly sat. we've never been here so took a bit to look thru the menu, specials of the day plus the list of their popular dishes. When we finally decided, each dish quickly came out and as I was facing the kitchen, you can see it's made to order. I can have the soft shell crab order a few more times. It was perfect, soft and the vinaigrette and kale salad were perfect compliments. The scallops uni cream pasta, perfection. I saw this place on yelp and I'm always looking for a good mentaiko pasta. Foods tried: - Bruschetta Nakamura-ya (3pc) - Mille-Feuille Style Tonkatsu - Spaghetti Mentaiko Carbonara Honestly not the best place I've tried and the high prices and portions didn't help either. For the bruschetta, our favorite was the avocado with wasabi mayo. The tuna just tasted like canned tuna and the anchovy one had good flavor, but was super oily with the use of oil and cheese. The tonkatsu was a basic tonkatsu, nothing that special. I was looking forward to the pasta, however it didn't have much mentaiko flavor and the sauce was quite soupy so it didn't stick to the pasta. They are a small business with a cozy sit down interior so their tables get filled during the dinner rush. We shared the spaghetti wafu Manila clam and tarako and the spaghetti mentaiko carbonara. They were both a 7 or 8 out of 10 with the Manila clam being the most memorable. The spaghetti is much thinner than I expected but it worked well with the tarako because of its soupy base. It had a rich seafood broth that wasn't too heavy and really warms the soul. The mentaiko was creamy but I felt could have had a bit more sauce since it was a little difficult to thoroughly spread the mentaiko throughout the noodles. The yuzu sake was very refreshing and not too strong! We also got the yuzu beer. Great choice for a light ale. They even gave us bread with butter as an appetizer as well! For dinner, we ordered the black sesame blancmange. At first, I wasn't sure I like the strawberry and black sesame combination. But after the second bite, the black sesame paired with the sweet and tart strawberry really compliments the overall taste. It was almost like a panna cotta texture. The waiter was so polite and friendly, he helped us by explaining what different ingredient were used and what they would taste like. I got the spaghetti wafu Manila clam and torako. There was only like 6 pieces of clams (they were small) I wish there was more :( it came with a lot of noodles I couldn't finish so I took home. I think it was $20 or $21 something like that. We were greeted politely upon entry and the menu options and everything were nicely explained. They have tons of options, from sushi and steak to katsu and pasta and way more. Their lunch specials are a very good deal with an assortment of mains and apps. The katsu we got was really fresh and tender, and the miso carbonara was flavorful and comforting. We had an amazing meal and experience on Saturday! We came shortly after opening and had no issues getting a table. The waiter was extremely attentive and helpful. He offered a highchair, a plastic cup with a straw and plastic plate with a plastic fork for our toddler. This was one of the most child friendly restaurant we've been to. The food was fantastic! The octopus karaage was lightly battered and fried, yum! Nice warm bread is always a nice touch. The uni tomato cream risotto was nothing like I've had before. The best risotto, so warm and comfy. The calamari spaghetti was a great spin on ramen. I would pass on the warabi mochi with green tea ice cream. Unfortunately, that's not the right texture for warabi mochi and was a disappointment. Okay, I'm not the type to write a negative review but I feel compelled to do so just to prevent others from being subjected to this "food." Let me be clear how bad this food was... this was without hesitation the worst food I've ever had at any restaurant in my entire life. My wife and I tried to remain positive but every plate was worse than the last. I ordered two appetizers, two pastas, and a meat entree. We sent one plate back and left without touching our skirt steak after one bite. The "wagyu" tasted like oil and burnt pan. The bruschetta was on cheap, old store bought bread and tasted like oil and cheap seafood. The pasta and clams were the lowest quality possible and had an impressive absence of flavor or color. Their fusion version of pasta carbonara was basically a soup and the pancetta was maple-flavored bacon or something. Horrible horrible. I am convinced this place has fake reviews. The bruschetta was three different pieces each with different toppings. They were fine. For two people sharing perhaps just get the 6pc so you don't need to split each one. I may be mistaken for my expectations but I detected no meat in my Kinoko *Meat* Cream Sauce Pasta. Otherwise, it was fine. The signature Uni pasta was delightful. Pasta was firm and the sauce was creamy. Disappointed that it doesn't come with any proteins (nor did the "meat" cream pasta) and adding scallops was a significant price increase of $10 (+25%!) on a $42 dish. Yes, I understand Uni is supposed to be expensive. the service; The service was good, host and waiters/bussers were polite. In Vegas and looking for a quiet, relaxing and unique dining location off the strip. Trattoria Nakamura-Ya, a Japanese modern Italian on Spring Hill Mountain Road looked intriguing. This small and quaint restaurant has daily specials and a Japanese spin on Italian dishes. The flavors are subtle and miso slanted. We started with the Shabu Shabu salad with thinly sliced pork, tomatoes and a miso dressing. The flavors were good, pork which is not common in salad was mild. The spaghetti miso carbonara was served in a miso "egg yolk" cream sauce, fried burdock, green onions, pancetta and sesame. The pancetta was bold and the egg yolk broth was savory but not overwhelming. It was a good dish but just not remarkable. Our final dish was the Wagu beef and pork Hamburg steak with sauteed mushrooms in a demi glaze sauce. This was mild and quite tasty with flavor packed mushrooms. Again, another good selection, just not the "Wow" factor. Trattoria Nakamura-Ya offers a nice, quiet, Japanese modern Italian cuisine. The service was spot-on and the food was good. This is the closest thing to Japan you're going to get in Vegas. Very very Japanese. Everyone who works here actually speaks Japanese. The portion sizes are most certainly Japanese. We ordered a few dishes to share and it's not really sharing size. Speaking as a fat American. LOL. I think I had maybe a few forkfuls of pasta altogether. Also the pasta, you can tell they put a lot of energy and perfection into it, that it was made with a standard and attention to detail. But I'm sorry. The delicacy of it was just all lost on me. It was just random bowls of boiled pasta to me, and hardly any taste or anything to go with the pasta, like meat or anything. It was super boring. I'm just a down home, simple, Olive Garden kind of gal. Not classy like for this place. My favorite thing was probably the appetizer we had, green mussel 2 ways, even though it didn't have mussel in it. Very strange. It was bread with some sort of hot olive oil spread. I enjoyed that more than anything else. Also while we were there, there were a lot of people trying to come in and they were all turned away for not having a reservation. So if you want to come and eat expensive pasta that doesn't have any meat or much taste and comes in a tiny portion size, you have to make sure you book it in advance because they're very much in demand. They offer many different specials and fly in fish fresh from Japan. They also offer refined Canadian Pork called Mugifusi. My husband started out with what they call spring rolls. They were tempura battered cheese sticks wrapped with a small amount of Italian meat and were different. This was the only Italian fusion we tried today. I tried a Lunch Special because I got to try THREE different dishes. Mine were all Japanese. Chicken Katsu, Chicken Tatsuta-age, and grilled Mackerel. The platter came with salad and my choice of bread or rice. It was all reasonably good. I preferred the Chicken Katsu over the Chicken Tatsuta-age because it was more tender and more flavorful. My husband tried the Pork Loin Tonkatsu because it was made with the special Mugifusi Pork. His platter came with mixed vegetables and it was reasonably good. Our server was attentive and helpful. Next time we need to try a pasta dish and some fresh flown in fish. Parking might be challenging here. Party of 5 and we had to call to make a reservation for a Friday evening. This is a mom-and-pop sized restaurant that probably has a max capacity of 50. The ambiance leans more towards the Italian side and makes for a nice dining area. The staff was extremely friendly from beginning to end. The kitchen was quick with getting our dishes to the crew. We all ordered individual dishes but sampled each other's family style Takoyaki - Great appetizer to start the night. Takoyaki fans definitely order Bruschetta - Oh wow, This was amazing. Baguettes were topped in 3 styles and my favorite had the wasabi mayo. So good... Ikasumi Squid Ink - This is their signature disk for a reason and it was fantastic. Harami Skirt Steak - Medium. Parking in the shared, free lot was challenging, but achievable. Kota was our cheerful, competent, energetic, and efficient server. I chose fettuccine instead of linguine because the width of the noodles seems to hold more sauce. The noodle also has a softer chew in my opinion. I cant think of any other place that would serve this topped with wasabi mayo, or spice cod roe or anchovy oil. Amazing flavor and I'd not hesitate to order it again on future visits. The Fettuccini Parma Prosciutto Carbonara was cooked to perfection. I cant explain it well, but the Prosciutto just felt like it was on another level compared to other Prosciutto I've tried in the past. As expected, the quality of the pasta was top tier and even pleased my picky eater - a 6 yr old who refuses to try new things. The Tonkatsu was very tender, and I have a feeling they make their Tonkatsu sauce in house. Words cant describe the sauce. I've had Tonkatsu in Japan, Hawaii, and many parts of southern California, but this sauce here..... the best sauce to pair with Tonkatsu. Restroom was clean and also accessible but walkway to restroom can be inaccessible if you have a mobility device. The food were amazing! Be still my heart. TRATTORIA NAKAMURA-YA located in Chinatown, Las Vegas, is a hidden gem serving Tokyo-style Italian. There are usually only two Japanese chefs in the kitchen, while servers are standing by for assistance. I've been dining here for years! No more gate keeping. It's time to share all of the things that make this restaurant special. A few of my absolute favorites are: Grilled Kurobuta Sausage, Calamari, Green Salad w/ Miso dressing, Uni Tomato Cream Sauce, Spaghetti Wafu Miso Carbonara, and Kinoko Meat Cream Sauce. Fresh and delicious!! Light yet flavorful. Homemade gourmet. You must finish off with the Tiramisu, it's heavenly!! Eating Italian food in Japan was our 2nd favorite cuisine when we once lived in Yokosuka; Trattoria Nakamura-Ya brings back fond memories of our favorite Italian restaurants at nearby More's City, Daiei Mall and of course, Tokyo. This is comfort food for me. Chef's kiss!! The interior is cozy and intimate. Walk-Ins are welcome but often times large parties are dining in. Therefore, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. The small shopping center has a parking lot, with direct access to the restaurant. Came across this restaurant because of Resy . I'm Italian so I thought a Japanese flair would be quite interesting . I tried the garlic bread, caprese salad , jidori chicken and pasta with wagyu and pork with cream sauce. Everything was fantastic. The portions were a little smaller but me and my wife left full . This was such an interesting concept of Italian and Japanese fusion and indeed it was fusion! The ambiance is like a little Italian shop with an asian flair. The service was good with one server and one busser. They made a great and efficient team. Here is what we ordered: 1. Wagyu A5 Carpaccio: (Small): this was nice and light. The meat was nice and tender and had such a great finish. The arugula was a delish peppery topper. 2. Miso Carbonara: the miso soup with the carbonara fusion was a match made in heaven. The broth was full of umami flavor and the butter and bread combo was chef's kiss. 3. Uni Tomato Cream: I'm not a huge fan of uni, but this tomato cream sauce helped to tone down the fishiness. The sauce was a little loose for my liking and wished it was a bit thicker. But great flavor. Dessert we ultimately had to go with the trio: 1. Black Sesame: had a lovely sesame flavor, however the texture was a but different. It was like a mix of jello and pudding. 2. Soy Milk Panna Cotta: the brown sugar sauce was delightful. The panna cotta itself was amazing and it was by far our favorite 3. Tiramisu: a lot of places have different versions. For this fusion place I wish they did a black sesame version instead of just a plain Italian tiramisu! but it was good. Overall such a great and interesting concept! I wanted to take a break from Asian food and decided to order Italian food. I am staying very close to Chinatown and didn't want to drive far away. I ordered a small house salad and a pasta dish: Kinoko Meat Cream Sauce ( Traditional meat sauce with "Wagyu" (Japanese beef) cooked with "Kinoko"( asoorted Japanese mushrooms), parsley, parmesan cheese, tomato cream sauce, choice of pasta). The small green salad $6.99 was a joke. Please look at the photo. I would have been happy to pay twice the price if it was a better portion and looked good to eat. Literally, a handful of spring lettuce throw in a styrofoam container. The pasta for $18.75 was a child's portion. Lacked flavor and little sauce to pasta ratio. Definitely not a place for Italian food. read more

Wow! We were celebrating our anniversary and decided on a new spot in Vegas to check out. We were easily able to make a reservation on Resy. The restaurant itself is pretty small with no more than 10 tables. Music and ambiance was very comforting and made you feel right at home. There was only one server working but he was very quick, efficient, and friendly! The appetizers we got were decent, I wished the baby octopus karaage had more of a crunch to it. But the stars of our meal was the pasta dishes! The Linguini Uni Tomato Cream pasta was amazing. I added scallops to it and it was so worth it. My bf got the fettuccini with salmon and scallops and cream sauce and it was amazing as well. So flavorful! To top it off, our server noticed that our reservation noted we were celebrating our anniversary and he brought out a double scoop of matcha ice cream to help us celebrate.
