I asked if they had grilled chicken. Didn't know it was an extra $1.75 until they handed me the receipt. The burrito wasn't wrapped well and had very little chicken inside. It took about 20 mins to make, I was the only one there. Flavor was good, salsa wasn't.

After seeing all the reviews for Casa Lupita in Castaic, I finally gave it a try -- and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the Burrito Colorado (all meat, wet style) with refried beans, cheese, and chips and salsa. Everything was legit. The meat was tender, full of flavor, and that red sauce was rich and balanced -- not watered down like a lot of places. Chips and salsa were just as good. I ate every single bite. Clean plate. No leftovers. You can tell they care about the quality here. I came for the Mexican food, but they've got a mix of Mexican and American dishes, so there's a lot to choose from. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. This is officially one of my new go-to spots.

Was in town for business and after checking out of my hotel room, I needed a good place to eat. Luckily, my hotel room was close and stumbled upon this place. The gentleman server couldn't have been any nicer or bend over backwards to make sure my meal and experience were nothing short of amazing. I had the chilaquiles and OMG were they good. I am out of town but I would go back in a heartbeat. Nicest people and wonderful food. They even had the Dodger game on, bonus! If you are looking for wonderful Mexican food or a good breakfast, I would support this local business!

Visiting for Xmas, my sister took us here for dinner as it's down the road from her home and her favorite spot. Small establishment on a road that provides services to truckers. There is indoor booth seating, subtle decor and an outdoor patio in front. Parking on the street or in the parking lot. The menu is varied. Ordered the tortilla soup, the bean/cheese wet burrito with tomatillo sauce and a side of chips/salsa. Chips and salsa made in house-delicious! Only ordered a cup of soup- very filling, full of chicken sprinkled with cheese and tortilla stripes. The husband ate the entire burrito as sign he enjoyed it. Staff is very friendly. We enjoyed the food so much we went back a second night. This establishment is worth a stop!

I love this place. I'm in the area for a while and Casa Lupitas has become my nearly daily spot for a late lunch. It is the type of mexican restaurant I grew up with in the 70's. Feels like a family run, home cooked place. No surprises on the menu, just good food. The shrimp diablo is fantastic, good spice level and generous portions. The weekend menudo is some of the best I've had in a restaurant. Some of the good things I've had are albondigus, chicken soup, fish tacos, chicken taco, crispy beef taco, tortas, eggy chili rellenos. even the beans and rice are good. This has to be the best authentic Mexican food around located right in my own backyard. I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. They are reasonably priced and it's such a cozy little atmosphere as if your in a tiny cafe. The shrimp cocktail is one of my favorites and they never skimp on the shrimp! The micheladas are amazing from all of the other restaurants I've tried. I cannot rave about how great this little gem is. On the absolute plus side, I can bring our dog to the patio and she loves it! read more

It's a small, rather quiet restaurant, but it's quite good! The food is pretty classic and simple, and it tastes really fresh and homemade. I can't say I have much experience with Mexican food - this was the first time I ever had mole and enchiladas - but I have pretty high standards, and I thought it was delicious! read more

A long drive ahead of us with the kids, I wanted to stick close to the freeway and didnt want the usual fast food place we end up at. Plus, I wanted Mexican! Casa Lupitas is warm and cozy. Love the atmosphere; it feels homey. Plus, it's Delicious! My husband and I had the wet burritos. He had the carnitas and it was the bomb. I'd get that next time, but I read the other reviews and there's so much to try. Guess we should go down south again! We will definitely be making this one of our regular stops on our trek up and down Ca and if u are looking for something other than fast, crap food, you should too! read more

My wife and I ate here for the second time yesterday and it was awesome! Marta was our waitress has a very pleasant cheerful personality and went out of her way to serve us. As for the food, Liz had a shrimp cocktail which she said was outstanding and I had my favorite cheese enchiladas with green sauce which was also outstanding. Our family stopped in to eat on our way home from Disneyland in July. The yelp reviews seemed good so we stopped in. First we sat outside and a couple came and sat next to us with their huge dogs as our plates were coming. This already turned our appetites off. We decided to try to be positive as we were tired and hungry from our trip. Our food came and as I went to eat my flautas I found myself gagging from all the onions and bell peppers they put inside them. The kids plates had them in their food also. I was also shocked to see that same mixture in the chicken quesadilla and rice. It was in everything but the beans. The beans and salsa was all we could eat there. This is a little Mexican restaurant - we missed the parking lot and had to turn around. The portions are good, the food has good flavor, the service is very friendly and the prices are good. This is a great place to get a good burrito or tacos. I give it four stars, because I've been spoiled by some incredible hole in the wall Mexican food in Oxnard. This isn't as good as those places. We do like Lupitas and we recommend them. read more

Hands down the best Mexican food in Castaic aside from the taco truck at the country girl bar which I think is owned by them too. Las Rocas is good too but it's a bit pricey and the food is just okay. Lupitas is the way to go for Mexican food in Castaic and the waitresses are great. read more

It takes a little longer if you get something like loaded fries, but it's still reasonable. Parking is on the street in front or in back of the truck. You could also park at the gas station and walk over.

First appearance/First impressions: I first saw the restaurant, it looked unattractive from the outside (but at least it had outside tables). The inside of the restaurant is a bit dusty and has a faint smell, something close to raw plastic. The place looks prepared (menus ready when you walk in, forks and knives wrapped in napkins, ready), the waiter I had spoke English and Spanish which is a major plus to any restaurant. The menus looked old, but still somewhat in good condition. You can see the kitchen once you walk in, (its small inside the restaurant). Overall, there was some cleaning up to do, and a bit more "color" needed, or something to make the outside attractive. Food: It takes a while to get your chips served (which is understandable because the chips are homemade). Sometimes they come out warm, or hot. The salsa that's served is spicy, with great flavor. At first glance, the menu has a lot of options, from traditional Mexican, to traditional American, with some pretty "fancy" stuff for a little restaurant (New York steaks, etc. etc.). The kids meal section is pretty typical, with some simple foods. They do have some pretty good drinks (alcoholic and non). I ordered the California burrito, which was fantastic. The fries were fresh, the guacamole was delicious and the carne asada tasted great. But, the big plate came bare with only a burrito. Bare as in, it looked like a giant lump of tortilla with nothing else. One suggestion would be, maybe add some fries along on the same plate? Or maybe use a different plate entirely, a smaller one so it doesn't look like you were ripped off (even though it wasn't expensive at all). Overall, if you're going to bring a group, sit outside for there is room. The inside is pretty cramped. 'A' for effort. The waitresses are friendly and quick. If it wasn't for them, it would have been a lower rating. Chips they served were fresh, but too thin. The salsa was room temperature and felt like it had not been made fresh or at least refrigerated. The Place is like a moderately run down roadside diner...complete with bad parking and bathrooms in the rear. The food gets a 'C-' due to nothing outstanding in flavor. The beans were retried, but had no flavor and only tasted palatable when the cheese was melted on top. The rice was not traditional Spanish rice, and the red sauce they put on top of it did nothing for it. The mole enchiladas were nothing of interest, had no flavor or extra preparation for the filling than just placing their regular chicken taco meat inside, and the mole sauce was sub-par. I think the good reviews come from locals who have not explored thousands of Mexican food locations as I have. If nothing more than the meh mediocre Mexican food, I can say I was turned off by the lack of cleanliness to the floor, counter footing area, the walls, and the booths which were not clean or repaired in a presentable manner.
