I really wanted to like this place. Service was ok. The food wasn't great. It was just ok. Didn't like that they poured bland tomato sauce all over everything. The rice was really good. Beans needed something. I got the lupita special. The relleno was terrible. Hard taco was ok but didn't like the clump of pureed tomatoes on top it was just bland tomato. The water had a bad taste. My husband and I moved to castaic in June and discovered this place randomly one night when we were starving and too tired to cook. This place is a little hole in the wall family owned restaurant and it is DELICIOUS. Everything we've ordered has been fantastic. The only thing I can't get down with is the filled churros. I just don't like the filling. Also the service is great. They are very friendly and prompt with our orders. Oh and they are very reasonably priced. I just can't say enough good things about this place. It's a must try if you want great Mexican food without having to dress up at all. read more

Great food, real Mexican food not Gringo Mex. Great service, but be aware that this is a hole in the wall restaurant, if you are trying to impress someone go somewhere else. While visiting family out in Castaic (we are from OC area), we ordered Menudo from this restaurant. My cousins brought their own pot and asked the lady to fill it up. The order came with all the fixings. While waiting for our order to be done, I was observing what other customers had on their plate and the food looks really good. I overheard another customer who was paying that he was from out of town and had been at this location before and had to stop by while driving through this area. He said the food was still delicious like the last time. We left with our mouths watering. If I am in the area again I will be sure to make a stop here. read more

When we visit our friend in the area , we make a point of eating here. My husband had albondigas soup,perfectly spiced! Very large bowl! I had the breakfast quesadilla, again a large portion. Great salsa low prices, too bad the Super Bowl wasn't on yet, we could've stayed several hours! Great service too read more

The place honestly doesn't look like much when you drive up and is very small BUT it's a great Mexican place! 1. We ordered to go and it was ready promptly 2. The chips were freshly made and still piping hot 3. Salsa was very good-we liked the milder salsa the best. It still has a good kick and seemed very fresh. The deeper red/hot salsa didn't seem as fresh and had more of a paste consistency. 4. Carne asada nachos were good-little greasy and heavy on the refried beans for my taste though. I think if we ate them right away we would have liked them more. Lots of drag guac piles on top (yum!) 5. Taquitos(rolled chicken tacos) were very good-they were perf ft for our two year old. Not slimy, easy to eat and held together well. Also came with sour cream and guac 6. Quesadilla was very good. Slightly crispy tortilla from being grilled. Lots of good cheese 7. AMAZING CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP!!!!!!!! We would go just for this. In fact, can I get the recipe! Freshly made, delicious flavors, perfect balance of broth and texture...yum. And yum again. They said they are famous for their wet burritos, but I'm not personally a fan of the wet burrito so we didn't try :) read more

This place is awesome. If we get Mexican food, we get it here and no where else. I was a little surprised at the prices...I thought it seemed expensive for a tiny little place with five tables, but it's so good, I don't care. I give it four stars rather than five because the food varies with each visit. I got the carnitas tacos a couple weeks ago and seriously, best thing i've ever put in my face. So I went back a few days later and ordered the same thing and they were just okay. Still good, but more average. The servers are really super nice and the portions are large. This place is just ok. A little pricey for the quality. I had the chicken enchilladas with mole sauce. The mole was way to salty and I didn't like the fact that they charged me an additional $1.50 for a small basket of tortilla chips. My wife had the casa lupitas combo plate and she said the chile relleno was way to greasy. On a positive note the hard shell taco was good and so was the homemade guacamole. This wasn't a bad experience but I guess my hopes were up way to high for the reviews I had read. read more

If the highway is long, dark, and you need a place to eat somewhat edible food then by all means stop here. A little meat with your gristle and a shitty attitude from the servers tossing your plates on the table. So if your starving then I'm sure you will enjoy. read more

Awesome food! We checked this place out after reading about it here on Yelp during our visit to Magic Mountain. The outside decor doesn't look very inviting, and the inside looked a little worn, but it was clean. The chips came out super hot, like they were just out of the fryer, which is how I like them. The salsa was very spicy, almost too spicy for my taste, but it had great flavor! Not like that liquid junk you get at a lot of the chain Mexican restaurants. The servings were very plentiful and sooooo good. I got the chicken enchiladas and a huge serving of refried beans and rice came with it. It was so much food I couldn't finish it all, but it was very good. Best Mexican restaurant I've eaten at that is not in Mexico! read more

This was our first time here on a Saturday night. Our two waitresses were SO friendly and their service was awesome. Our party had the wet burrito with the chile colorado beef, the beef crispy taco / flouta combo plate and the kids quesadilla plate. The kids plate came with fires that were not good. Good food! I got the Chili Colorado and a cup of Albondigas. Meat was good and had some fat on it for that GOOD FLAVOR. Beans had HOT melted delicious cheese! This place is excellent. Everything including the chips is made to order! We ordered the carnitas torta, chile colorado, and caldo de res. They were fantastic. The torta wasn't greasy and properly portioned. The carnitas were perfectly cooked. As for the caldo, I have to say that it brought me back to my grandma's beef nilaga which might be the most perfect yet simple rainy day dish ever. As for the chile, the sauce was the right thickness and had just the right kick. It will definitely be our grapevine eating spot from here on out! No in n out for us!!! read more

I read the reviews; but, then I forgot carnitas were recommended and not carne asada. Maybe I'd be writing a slightly better review if I'd ordered carnitas. Service was slow, food was poor, place was dirty, I don't even want to go back to give them a second chance on the carnitas. I agree with the comment about the salsa being spicy water. Go up the street to the new place, Chabelo's that's in the strip mall. You won't be disappointed. read more

My husband and I stumbled upon this place, while leaving a concert at the lake. We were looking for a place to grab a drink while traffic died down. The service was impeccable! We stopped here on our drive back to the bay area from Disneyland and it was SO delicious. We ordered our vegetarian burritos to go so we could eat on the drive. They gave us chips and salsa as well, which were also amazing! I will definitely be stopping here again. It is located close to the 5 and it is easy to get to and then get back on the road. You can eat there or take the food to go. The place had a lot of people eating, which is a good sign that the food is great. The staff were very nice and fast.
