Shredded beef burrito and ground beef enchilada (see the canned corn oozing out)
    lisa j.

Went to Casa Machado with a friend tonight for dinner. I haven't been in years. It is right by Mongomery Field. The good: plenty of parking, friendly service, [[HIGHLIGHT]]clean dining room[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], free chips and salsa. The bad: food was pretty mediocre and bland. The enchilada sauce was blah with no flavor. The ground beef filling in my enchilada was filled with mixed vegetables. The shredded beef in my burrito was kind of sweet which is odd. Overall the combinations weren't expensive at $18.95, but the food lacked flavor and they didn't offer extra hot sauce or salsa on the table. I got the burrito and enchilada combo and my friend got 2 enchiladas. They look almost the same.

3rd time here , parking is plentiful , food is out fast and is fresh and delicious , servers are very attentive and courteous, casual dining , one thing I do have to say is i wish they had more comfortable chairs but their amazing service makes up for it , try their flautas so delicious

Casa Machado has the Mexican food we were craving. Sometimes you just want to have the food you've called Mexican even though it may not be considered authentic these days. It is hard to find a good chili rellano and they have one that is delicious. The enchilada suizas were filled with chicken and the sauce was delicious. The chili rellano and enchilada combo was also great. Their rice, beans, salsa and hot carrots all add to the deliciousness factor. Our server was friendly, efficient and the food came out quickly and was piping hot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's always fun to watch the planes at Montgomery Field as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Cinco de Mayo at Casa Machado! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, this lively restaurant overlooks the runways, making it a fun place to eat with a view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is always fast and they have an expansive menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place for group parties or social hangouts.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Taquitos Rancheros - Rolled shredded beef tacos garnished with guacamole and sour cream. Surf & Turf Burrito - Shrimp, top sirloin, rice, cheese, and chipotle sauce with sour cream on the side. The sirloin has a nice smoky flavor to it.

Service was good and fast, chips are good, chicken mole was just ok nothing special. Sauce was poured over chicken instead on cooking it in the sauce.

Visited 12/30/2024 https://casamachadomex.com/ I had company for this one so even though there was nice large serving sizes we still had leftovers for another meal the next day. This is an interesting location as it is located at a airport above the terminal on the second floor. Check out Their Website Link. Lots of indoor seating with a fair amount of booths along the windows overlooking the air strip. Service was good for the most part. There is Full Bar Service available. For a Starter we ordered The Sample Plate loaded with Flantas, Taquitos, Nachos, Cheese Quesadillas, and Guacamole & Sour Cream on the side. Pricy but Tasty and a large Serving for the money. For our Main Dishes Loretta ordered The #2 1 Chili Relleno Plate Combo. Very Tasty but needed a bigger pepper and more Cheese inside. Good Coating and cooked well and Great Flavor. I ordered The #16 Combo Plate. Birria Taco and Pork Tamale. The Birria Taco was nice with moist tender shredded beef. Could have used more seasoning especially salt. The Pork Tamale was very good with a tasty filling and moist masa. Beans were excellent and the rice was tasty too. All in all I would come back to try more of their menu. Prices were a bit higher than the going price for a Mexican Restaurant here in SD but still worth a visit. Happy New Years Everyone. Looking forward to my next Adventure for 2025

Chile Verde: One of the worst ever. Bland, no heat, pork cubes were dry and tough! Just awful quality and flavor!

This place had been a go to place for my family for decades! The Sunday brunch has always been great. Last Saturday night we went for dinner. I hadn't been here in many years for dinner. I was surprised that they close at 9:00 PM and the latest reservation they would take was at 7:00 PM! On a Saturday night...No Bueno!! I ordered my staple dish, Chile Verde, which I can usually gauge a quality of a Mexican restaurant off of. Unfortunately, the Chile Verde at this place way under-delivered! It was bland with absolutely no heat! I even tried adding their green and red salsa to it, but still couldn't get much flavor or heat out of it. A total disappointment. I would give the place a 1, but the other dishes we ordered were between a 3-4 quality; plus I really like the location and vibe of this place. Unfortunately, because of their hours the place was mostly empty. The owners need to get their act together, clean the place up a bit and instead of just increasing their prices, which are already high, they need to increase their hours; at least on weekends.

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Street parking only. The spots on the same block are metered but if you drive down to the second street towards residential, it's free.

Heaven and Hell theme that would make Miguel de Cervantes proud. Goths love and would love this place. The service was great as was the food. A small rotating menu with many treasures to choose from and many items to share. The plating is very unique. A bit on the pricy side but it is worth it for the experience. You need to go at least once. A good place to bring peeps from out of town as well if the budget provides. Reservations are recommended. My only real gripes are the parking (not really their fault), the prices being a bit high and the noisy and dim atmosphere, but the other perks make up for a lot of this. Also, be careful of the candles, one dripped on my date and messed up her dress.

We grabbed a table for our whole crew, kids included, and settled in for what turned out to be a really memorable evening. Now, no meal is perfect, and ours had a funny little hiccup. We ordered the shrimp salad, and it showed up... shrimp-less. Just a salad. We laughed about it because hey, things happen, but what really made the night was how it got handled. Our server Erika noticed something was off before we even said much, and she jumped right on it. Not only did she get the dish fixed and out to us fast, she also surprised the kids with free dessert, no fuss, no attitude, just genuine hospitality. That's the kind of service that turns a small mistake into a story you actually want to tell. The rest of the meal was great too. Fresh flavors, a menu that leans into that coastal Mexican-meets-California vibe, and a setting that makes everything taste a little better. Sunset hit while we were there and the whole patio just glowed. It's one of those spots where you're paying for the experience as much as the food, and honestly, both delivered.

Decided to finally mix things up this time, and it did not disappoint! It's definitely an upscale Mexican spot, but the main draw right off the bat is the location. We got hooked up with a waterfront table, and the views of downtown SD and the Coronado Bridge are unreal. Here's what we ordered: Queso Fundido: Started with this and it was delicious. Famous Fajitas (Shrimp & Steak): Hands down the highlight. The meat was super well-seasoned and the charred veggies added so much flavor. Tampiqueña: Really solid and flavorful. Note on the chips: The chips here are a little different than what you usually get at a typical neighborhood Mexican joint--a bit thicker/different texture--but still tasty! All in all, everything was fabulous. If you're stuck in a routine of only going to C Level, definitely give Coasterra a try! We're super glad we finally did.
