I can't begin to say how much my wife and I love this place. I always get the brisket enchiladas. I don't ever order anything else. This dish is out of this world good. My only one bad experience I ever had there was when I took my first bite of the brisket enchilada meal I ordered yet again and I bit down on something hard. I spat out whatever it was and after inspecting it, I found it to be a pretty good size piece of wood. I set my plate aside and when the waiter or manager came to the table I showed him the piece of wood and he brought me a new dish. I was thankful for the new dish, but was a bit surprised that they didn't offer an apology. This isn't anything that will prevent me from going back, accidents happen, but they should have made a better effort to apologize for me biting down on a piece of wood. That really could have caused an injury. read more

We haven't been to Casa Mama in a couple of years, not for any specific reason other than there are more places closer and just as good (from previous experience there). Today, based on the recommendation of a friend, we revisited with positive expectations. Boy, were we disappointed. The service was the worst part. It was about 2:30 and they weren't even busy. The server was un-attentive at best. We had to flag the manager down a couple of times, who even realizing we were not getting good service, was almost as unavailable. Drinks - I ordered a beer-rita ($14 by the way) and it came out with half a pour of frozen margarita and of my beer (a small Coronita) being already added. So it was already mostly beer and melting. If you drink beer-ritas, then you know this is not normal. My wife's unsweet tea tasted old, like it was made in a dirty coffee maker. The "Queso de Casa" for $7 was more like a small cup. And the corn tortillas we ordered, one of the looked molded. The Sanchez fajitas were literally 3 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of steak (1 way overcooked) and 2 shrimp. And back to the service....we tried to flag down our server multiple times, even watching him eat his lunch at the bar, never making eye contact. We were out of salsa, the first batch of chips the brought us was stale, etc. Then when the check came, the server was all nice and congenial. And yes, I was going to say something to the manager on the way out the door, but he was nowhere to be found. Won't be back. read more

The meal was ok. The server we had needs immediate retraining on food handling. I ordered the sopapillas for desert and I could see our server handling a plate near the door in the kitchen. I watched him use his finger to push food into a steel pot and then he used his fingers to pick the food back out of the pot. He licked his fingers. I realized he had just dropped our sopapillas into the cinnamon and he was licking the cinnamon of his hands. I kept watching as he walked over to the ice cream and got a scoop to put on the sopapillas. Once he dropped the ice cream on the plate I saw him pick something off the plate and eat it too. Of course we went the desert back. I'm not sure I've seen something like this before but I will never go back here again. read more

Been coming to this location, and the one in Dallas, for years, and it's a shame it took me this long to leave a review. The food is delicious (as with most Mexican food restaurants, one meat tastes better than the other, here, it is the chicken over the steak), the wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the salsa is to die for. As first-timers, we were hesitant at first going in, but were surprised and impressed to see that it was quite a large and nice little spot on the inside. We were seated in a nice comfortable, and spacious booth. The servers were really nice and attentive to refill our salsas and drinks, and also really patient with is to figure out what we wanted to order. I wanted to order something that wasn't on the menu and the server checked with the chef and I was able to get The lunch Tilapia salad with shrimp instead of tilapia. The food was soooooooooooo delicious! The chips were nice and hot and the salsa was spicy and had a nice salty cilantro-jalapeño taste. The salad I got was big and good by itself, the shrimp were a wonderful addition (go me). The shrimp had this wonderful char and seasoning on them. We tried Casa Mama for be first time today. Very nice place, love the atmosphere and service is awesome! Servers are very cordial and attentive. The chips and salsa are great, we ordered drinks. Micheladas are our favorite and they didn't disappoint! Very good! They have us a nice treat before our meal, a little bean tostada with salsa, lettuce and sour cream. We ordered brisket enchiladas which were amazing! Mashed potatoes inside then brisket and onions on top in a bed of poblano sauce. My son had sour cream enchiladas and well they were amazing as well, very tasty and he will definitely order them again. My husband had Mexican enchiladas and he enjoyed them, they had queso fresco with onion inside and potatoes, sour cream and queso fresco on top along with jalapeños. We ordered chiles toriados and they were so spicy but so good! We're definitely coming back!! Love this place. read more

Took my ladies here tonight for dinner based on the reviews. Overall, this place is really good. Wasn't a big fan of the tiny salsa "bowls" but they kept them "filled". I also was a little disappointed they didn't have ceviche. Their appetizer menu is a bit limited otherwise. My ladies got chicken fajitas and carne asada. Very good. Very moist. Good portion. I got the diablo shrimp. It was great. About seven large and moist shrimp (tails on) in this veggie/cheesy/rice sauce. Totally original presentation with garlic bread nor less. It was a little heavy for my tastes but was still really good. Oh, if you ask for sweet tea, they charge an extra $.50 for it. Kinda a buzzkill when you get the check but you live and learn. We will definitely be back to Casa Mama. It will be one of those every other month place for us. read more

after leaving church...we were starving...so we decided to find a spot in the area...the GPS literally took us in a circle when it was up the street LOL N-E-WHO...walked in and were seated right away....chips and salsa on deck...BAM!! LOL...our waiter brought us some waters and then took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. my wife ordered the huevos con chorizo y papas and i ordered the eggs benedict....while waiting for our food...i went through 2 bowls of the salsa...and didn't even really realize it...it was that dayum good lol our food was prepared in no time and brought out nice and hot. my wife loved her dish...it was a very nice portion and the price isn't outrageous. now my eggs benedict was on point...nice flavor and the hollandaise sauce actually had a little kick to it....SCORE!! we cleaned our plates and the waiter asked if we saved room for dessert LOL....NOT!! nice spot...great service and very good food...we shall be back read more

In the unlikely event that you have read any of my other reviews, you will understand when I say that the original chef from Amigos now cooks here. The food is delicious. amazing. superb. buenisima. Choose your adjective, the point I'm trying to make is that I love it! My personal favorite is either the seafood enchiladas or the veggie tamales, although everything on the menu that I've tried has been to die for! They also have great happy hours, and the best part EVER- the flan!!!! The chocolate flan is the best, but that's only my opinion. The fact of the matter is they are all amazing, and I love that they are perfect EVERY TIME I order them. I think I'd have to call a three-way tie for what my favorite thing about Casa Mama is. The food, the flan, or the service. The fact that the owner and the manager take the time to get to know their customers and give them personalized service is something that I do not get anywhere else. Indeed, it isn't just with me that they come up and say hi, and strike up a conversation to make you feel at home. Every time I walk in, they are chatting up somebody, and I don't know about you, but I really appreciate places that take the time to make everyone feel special and welcome. Even though it is a little bit hidden from where I am, it is very much worth the drive! My wife and I come from Southern California where Mexican food is as authentic even in small food chains so my review might be a little tainted along those lines. Casa Mama has taken over what used to be Chez Joey's Pizza and before that Double Daves. When we heard another restaurant was going to move in, I was excited and waited a couple of months for them to finish renovations. When they were finally done with the "remodel" and opened it's doors, my family and I tried it out. The place looked almost exactly like it did before as far as the seating. There are still Double D brands in the benches. They took down the stuff on the walls, painted it, but it looked very similar. The customer service was good. Asked if we wanted the white cheese Caso and we tried it out. That was good. The rest of the meal however, seemed bland. It wasn't fantastic nor was it bad. I had the Carne Asada and it seemed like they micro waved it first before they cooked it on the skillet. The real deal closer was the price tag. OMG it was expensive. I really don't think the price justified the food, especially for Mexican food. Do I dissuade anyone from checking it out? No, I have friends that go more often than 1 time in a month. Check it out for yourself, but as for me and my house, we'd be hard pressed to go again. read more

Since we were in Plano, we dropped by Casa Mama for a late lunch/early dinner after reading the reviews on Yelp. I like trying non chain tex mex when I can. Casa Mama is located in a shopping center next to a Krogers. They have a pretty cool looking patio for its location. Started with a Bloody Mary... meh. But I guess I should stick with margaritas at places like this. Seems they bring out a mini bean/crema tostada appetizer for each guest. It was good... it was free... even better. Wife got her usual beef fajitas and I got their tex mex platter - taco, chicken enchilada, cheese enchilada topped with chipotle sauce, rice and beans. The Good: The complimentary chips were light and tasty. Fajitas were very tender and delicious. These were as good as any of the other places we go to for fajitas. I usually don't remark on the sides in tex mex but I have to say the beans and the rice were excellent. The taco meat had a spice/flavor to it not usually found and it was pretty darn good. The chipotle sauce was spicy and awesome. The Meh: Other than the chipotle sauce, both enchiladas were just par. Not great, not bad. I wouldn't order them again. The Bad: Nothing terrible. This is a rare complaint for me but the salsa and the guacamole were way too salty. Maybe it was a bad batch. Who knows. Conclusion: If I lived in the neighborhood, Casa Mama would be in our rotation. But we don't and while the fajitas are really good, we can find similar quality closer to home. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood, Casa Mama is worth a try. read more

This is now my go-to place for dinner in my new hood. My first visit here was with 9 other co-workers for our October birthday lunch. This place was recommended by one of the birthday gals and everyone seemed impressed with the results. Their white queso was high on the list and we have come by here a couple of times just to get queso & chips for the office. I moved about 2.7 miles from here at the first of November and sadly have gotten into a pattern of working till 7, 8, 9 at night. If I leave work by 830, you can probably see me here. My last visit here I ordered the Julissas Pasta... Spinach Fettucccini, chicken {or grilled shrimp}, mushrooms and corn in a poblano cream sauce garnished with pico de gallo with a side of garlic bread. YUM! This is right down the street from me and I absolutely love it! The food is so good and the managers and staff are very sweet! Their margaritas are so good and very strong. Not watered down at all or too sweet, which is what I prefer. You get chips and salsa and a tostadita before your meal and the portions are a decent size. Ok - so I've been coming to this place since I moved to Plano 4 years ago. I've eaten here more times than I can even count!! I try to make it out for Tuesday's because happy hour all day long is rad. Their margaritas are spot on every single time, no matter which you try. My fiancée gets the cheese enchiladas every time and they're continuously on point. I love the nachos, but I feel like I've tried just about everything and it's always fantastic.
