As a new Texas resident, I have eaten my way through at least a dozen Mexican restaurants. Casa Mama is by far the best one I have been too. The rib-eye fajitas are amazing - never overcooked and scalding hot when they get to your table. The wait staff is always lovely. This is my go-to Mexican spot! read more

We have eaten at the restaurant before but this is our first time getting it to go. My wife got caldo de res which was good. I ordered the Verdes Enchiladas and the menu says it comes with three. I got home, opened it up, and this is what they gave me. The food tastes really good but being shorted an enchilada is disappointing. read more

My Wife and I ate there last night, and for the first time. We enjoyed the heck out of it. Very friendly staff all the way around. Made us feel like we were regulars. Good feeling to the place. Good crowd and you could tell they really liked coming there. Our new go to Mexican Restaurant. Margaritas were solid and well priced. White cheese queso great. Entree's very very good and again well priced. My wife will tell you I came in a bit skeptical and left the place well impressed. We had Brisket soft tacos and the Manuels Enchiladas to get a good idea of the 3 different ones. All good. Sopapilla for dessert just fine. Some of the best service, so thank you Guillermo for that and putting up with my humor. We will bring a few friends and neighbors next time. So they fired Miguel and are lying to people saying he's on vacation and this new manager is setting traps trying to get rid of some regulars that drank at the bar. Very weird and doesn't seem very friendly anymore. Miguel was the heart of this place and since he's been gone they are going downhill quickly. They even told this handicap guy they would no longer serve him. read more

After visiting so many disappointing Mexican and Tex-Mex locations around Garland/Plano/Richardson we stumbled upon this little gem and fell in love! Casa Mama is the real deal from their food to their drinks to their service. My husband and I are from areas with good Mexican food on every corner so moving to Garland to find that most of the spots have watered down drinks and sub-par food was a let down. Casa Mama has amazing salsa and the chips are served warm which I prefer. We were seated rather quickly and started with the chicken nacho appetizer which was delicious! Crisp large chips, perfectly spiced refried beans, chicken, guac. and all the fixins'. The margaritas (frozen) are delicious and have just enough alcohol to get the job done. The entrees: Great portions, perfect temp. and OH THE FLAVOR!!! I had the combination enchiladas because I had to try the avocado sauce and boy am I glad I did. My husband had the seafood enchiladas with Salmon and I totally took over his plate! This was probably the best version of seafood enchiladas I have ever had! We were stuffed but after 2 years of terrible Mexican food we had to try the desserts as well. We got the sopapillas and coconut flan. Both were delicious! On the flan I will warn you it's a tad sweet compared to traditional flan but very delicious if you like coconut! Give this place a try if you like Mexican food. You wont be disappointed! read more

We went here during the superbowl, I wasn't aware they'd have TVs and $1 frozen margaritas, but I was pleasantly surprised by both. The service, food and ambiance are all awesome. I had the brisket enchiladas and the coconut flan. I HIGHLY recommend both. The brisket enchiladas are potato enchiladas in a poblano sauce with moist brisket on top. Everything about the dish is excellently seasoned and works very well together. The coconut flan is another level. The custard has an amazing texture and works very well on the bed of coconut. read more

Amazing food, cheap strong margaritas, great service, great prices. I've never had something here that didn't wow me. There's a good balance of both Tex-Mex and real Mexican, but not Mexican street food--it's sit-down, nice meal food. And man is it good. The brisket is to die for. Every time we go we get the brisket quesadillas to share, and I usually get the brisket enchiladas on top of that! Let me tell you about these brisket enchiladas. There are 4, served on a bed of avocado cream sauce that is heaven on it's own. The enchiladas are stuffed with mashed potatoes that must be like 50% heavy cream, they are the most decadent mashed potatoes I've ever had. Then the brisket is heaped on top, and drizzled with more avocado cream sauce. It sounds weird, but it's amazing. The mole sauce is super complex and multi-layered in flavor. The beef fajitas are always cooked perfect medium rare, and so soft they practically melt in your mouth. Want to eat healthier? The chipotle salmon or tilapia with shrimp are both good. The margaritas are sweet, flavorful and pretty strong! I get the mango, but also sometimes the regular. The regular is sour enough to have a nice pucker. Great service to boot! read more

How does this place was just some car the food was good it wasn't great some of the meats that we had were dry there wasn't really much flavor to the beans but traditional Mexican there normally is it. I wouldn't go again but I'm glad we went. Overall though the atmosphere was the best part service was second and the food was last. read more

The best Tex mex place I've been to in years. Happy hour is incredible, bartender pours drinks wonderfully and the food is incredible. Got 3 drinks each and 2 entrees and our meal was $40. So coming back to this place every time we come to Plano! read more

Moving to Texas from Illinois, and being a lover of authentic Mexican food, I figured I'd find a better variety in Dallas. Overall, I was dead wrong. The area is full of Tex-Mex places disguised as Mexican restaurants. Don't get me wrong, Tex-Mex is good, but when I want Mexican food, I want the REAL DEAL. That being said, and being new to town, I let Yelp guide me on where I should be spending my dollar. I chose to eat at Casa Mama, and even after trying a few places since then, I haven't found anything more authentic. The service ROCKS. Everyone is very friendly and ready to serve you! The food is AWESOME. You can tell it doesn't come from a can, and they have real authentic stuff! (My personal favorite - chile relleno con beef brisket) If you want to try a traditional Mexican drink, and you're not much of a sweet drink person - try the michelada with Modelo Especial here. It is like a bloody mary with beer. I know that you don't know me from Adam, er, Eve, but I make authentic Mexican every night for dinner and my husband is first generation from Mexico City, and this is the ONLY place he calls Mexican around here. read more

Went here for dinner with friends yesterday. They had margaritas on Happy Hour ( had a raspberry and a regular frozen one). Both were delicious while enjoying some of the chips and salsa, as well as the chicken flautas. The three flautas were served with refried beans and Mexican rice, as well as some pico, as sour cream. As dessert I had the coconut flan, which was absolutely amazing. A friend of mine ordered the tres leches cake, and it was a very generous serving and also excellent. read more

Came here for a Work Lunch, and I would have to say this is a cool little Mom&Pop restaurant. Seems like a cool little place to grab a couple post-work happy hour margaritas. This is basically like 95% of ever other Tex Mex place in a Texas. It has the typical Enchiladas and Fajitas on the menu. Everyone at my table got an assortment of fajitas, and they looked pretty standard. They also did have fresh jalapenos per request. However, I tried the Chipotle Salmon, and the dish has it's ups and downs. The Salmon itself was over-cooked and dry. In my opinion, Salmon should be medium rare (medium at most). On top of that, it was clear the cook messed up and the fillet broke in half and that is how it was served, which probably added to the dryness factor. The "veggies" are basically zucchini/ squash strings that has been loosely sautéed which I'm not really a fan; I prefer my veggies in larger pieces if it is the only side dish. However, It is all served on a chipotle cheese sauce that was actually quite delicious and the saving grace of the dish. I personally wouldn't mind coming back if someone else in the group wanted to go, but probably not going to go out of my way to make it over. read more

We came to this restaurant after searching Yelp for a place to eat when we finished helping out with a community service project in East Plano last week. My wife got the Guiso (Pork Stew), and at my wife's prodding to not always order the same old boring "chicken fajitas", I ordered the brisket tacos. The Guiso was quite tender and tasty, and also provided a few minutes of amusement for us as I kept saying "guiso" repeatedly because it was just an interesting, fun word to say. The brisket tacos were fine, but I think I would have enjoyed some chicken fajitas more. If we were in the area again, we'd go back here...but we wouldn't make a special trip out for it. read more

This neighborhood restaurant is a pleasant surprise. We tried it out this evening and enjoyed our meals. My husband had the brisket enchiladas and they were really good, I will be having that next time we go. The salsa is fresh and had good bite, I ate way more chips and salsa than I should have. I ordered the chicken fajitas, my chicken was kind of dry, but they came with a lot of onion and peppers. I personally prefer more guac/pico/sour cream than what they gave. The poblano cream sauce has a garlicky kick that makes Alfredo shake in his boots. I remember this place from 7 months ago. They were awesome--both my husband and I agreed. But my sister, a mutual friend and I ate there last night and man, was I disappointed! I decided to get the veggie enchiladas. I thought maybe it might come with squash or something like that, but I was in disbelief when I saw what looked like a coleslaw mix that had been sautéed in oil. I mean, there was the green cabbage, purple cabbage and carrots warmed up on top of white cheese enchiladas. Maybe a little corn thrown in. It just didn't taste good, or original! My sister wasn't that pleased with what she had. The service was fine. If I hadn't been to a funeral earlier I would have challenged their concept of veggie enchiladas. Our drinks were fine. The ambiance was good, but I was focusing on my disappointment in my meal. They need to have a meeting and redefine some of the dishes. Tried this place on a whim, and I am SO glad I did! Very friendly waiter, and they had a guy singing and playing guitar during the meal (this was on a Wednesday). Queso is blanco, unique, and very tasty. Salsa was too hot for me, but I am not a person who can handle spicy foods. I had the Mexican Lasagna, and I must say it was incredibly delicious...Chicken, corn tortillas, corn, beans, cheese...all in a delicious creamy poblano sauce (not spicy at all). Presentation was great, as well. Had the coconut flan for dessert. I was not disappointed...great flavor, consistency, and so different than any other flan I've tried. Again, presentation was great!
