Outstanding!!!! Amazing service. The best I've seen in awhile and I've worked every position in the restaurant industry the past 8 years. The salsa is warm and delicious the green salsa is equally as awesome. We had the Acapulco and the Monterrey dinners. The tamales are out of control. As well as house margaritas. The margaritas were a little icy but we upgraded to the ones with an extra shot and they were good. The prices are excellent and they have $1.99 margaritas on Monday and Tuesday and happy hour all day until 7. We usually go to Los cucos but this place is a little better priced so we might have to switch it up a bit!!! Great job! read more

Food was delicious and the live music was great but service was terrible.. Don't even know if we had a server because nobody bothered coming to our table to see if everything was okay not even to refill our drinks that we had finished a while ago. Had to walk to the front because me and my boyfriend have been done eating about 20 minutes ago thought if we were supposed to pay in the front because our server never appeared to ask if we were done or to remove our plates. Took about another 20 minutes to get our receipts because it seemed like there was some issue. Nobody really seemed to care. Such a disappointment, wont be back. read more

Super! I almost didn't want to go in because I was not impressed by the outside-BUT, I'm so glad I did! The staff was very friendly and the live singer was perfect! The salsa was great and the food was the BEST Mexican I have had in a long time! We are visiting from Florida and this food is a million times better than our Florida Mexican! Not the worst $20 I've ever spent, but close. The "fajita" was not fajita at all. And, honestly I have no idea what type of "beef" it really was. The reviews rave over the salsa. It was weak at best. The corn tortillas were store-bought and the flour ones reminded me of the cold ones you can cook in a skillet at home but much lesser quality. Second visit. Had Fajitas Medina, a lg house frozen margarita, white queso with chips, and for dessert a piece of their homemade tres leches cake. The margarita was serviceable. Fajitas Medina included charbroiled beef, white chicken and shrimp, with veggies cauliflour, broccoli, zucchini and carrots along with grilled onions, and the usual sides choice of style of beans, rice, guacamole, and pico de gallo. I had to leave off onions, guacamole, and pico due to allergies so cannot evaluate those. The fajita proteins were delicious and flavorful. The veggies were a nice difference. The white queso tasted homemade and had a nice thickness and texture. The tres leches cake had a festive presentation on a floral plate with chocolate syrup swirled over it, whipped cream and crunchy multicolored sprinkles. Call me a fuddy duddy but I prefer mine without the chocolate and hard sprinkles. I enjoy the smooth milky creaminess of a fresh homemade tres leches with little adornment. Casa Medina's homemade tres leches itself tasted fresh, rich, creamy, all the things I look for. Next time I will ask to leave off the chocolate and the sprinkles, as to my taste, they detract from a good cake. On this Saturday evening there was a live seated guitarist. He played many favorites and received regular applause from the audience and added a great deal to the busy atmosphere. Given the local Woodlands Mexican food competition that tends toward corporate franchise fare equaling half the quality at twice the price, this is a good bet at a reasonable price. read more

Medina's was one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in The Woodlands area a couple of years ago...but, unfortunately, has gone way downhill. My family and I have given this place several "last chances", but sadly, we have given up. The wait staff is inexperienced and annoying (e.g. asking for drink orders before we have hardly sat down; thereafter, asking every 3 minutes if we need another round; spilling an entire glass of water on our table). The place is dirty. On our most recent visit, my son was served water in a glass with crusty "boogers" around the rim. After politely bringing it to the waiter's attention, he returned with the SAME glass and we could tell he had just tried to wipe it off...disgusting! Food is mediocre at best. Drinks are horrible (watery "frozen" margaritas; Luke warm beer). Overall service is especially poor (again, it used to be top notch). On our recent visit, we were one of only 3-4 tables but still waited 20 minutes to get our drink order, and almost as long to get our food order. Never thought I would say it...but I predict Casa Medina will soon bite the dust. read more

I come to The Woodlands area on business about one month out of every year. That said, I've eaten at pretty much every Mexican place in the area. Casa Medina is off the "beaten path" in The Woodlands, but it is definitely one of the better Mexican places. Good, quality food (even their beans/sides) and good service. The waiter who greeted me at the front as I walked in was super nice and full of energy. You don't see that very often. I ordered a plate to go and they were really fast getting it out. Fresh food I'll be coming back. My only complaint would be that it smelled like smoke as I walked in. I later saw a sign about not being allowed to smoke on the weekends anymore. read more

I don't usually post negative reviews, preferring to give a business the benefit of the doubt, but this place was so atrocious I felt a duty to warn others. I was so looking forward to visiting Houston so I could get some great Tex-mex and this place was walking distance from my hotel. The first thing you look for is great chips and salsa. They had neither. The chips were cold and stale and the salsa was tasteless. They served it with a pallid tan something-or-other that I thought might be queso but after trying it I still have no idea what it was. It was even worse than the salsa. I ordered a margarita on the rocks and it was rimmed with a green slimy substance that may have come from a chemistry set. To top off this distasteful experience they served me cheese enchiladas that were cheese WHIZ filled, not real cheese! Seriously, how do you mess up cheese enchiladas?? I ate about half of one enchilada. The service was actually great. Fast and efficient. The only time I wished it was slow so I could have walked out before consuming any of this disaster. read more

We were anticipating more from this restaurant after reading glowing reviews and their high average of 4.5 stars. We hoped for a diamond in the rough and instead found a cockroach in the window. Yes, seriously, upon being seated there was a dead cockroach in the windowsill adjoining our table. My boyfriend quietly told our server to not cause a scene. Our server directed him to tell the manager. He went to tell the manager and the manager possibly didn't understand the conversation or issue. We decided to stay and give the place a try because we were waiting on more people to join us and we were not too familiar with the area. The food was not impressive or worth the 4.5 stars. We stopped at Casa Medina on the drive back to Dallas from Houston and I have to say, I'm so glad we did! I love this place- super friendly service, very vegetarian friendly (note, beans and rice don't have any lard/meat in them), delicious food, great prices and yummy warm salsa... also love the atmosphere- very low key/neighborhood-y feeling. I think it should be pointed out first that this is Mexican food, not Tex Mex. People around here think it is the same thing, and they are quite different, and that may be the reason for the occasional low review. Best Mexican I've had in the Woodlands for the price! Looks like a dive...it kind of is, but that's where the best Mexican food comes from. Points for being in the parking lot of a sketchy looking hotel. The inside is nicer looking than the outside, which isn't saying much, but it's true. From the get go, hostess asked for our drink order, we knew we wanted Rita's. Before the Rita's were brought out we got asked about apps. Order the queso! The green sauce, red sauce, and queso were great!!! The Rita's are also great and now that I type this, I am realizing strong!!! So far, so good. I think they got a little slammed... It took a few min (maybe 10) for the order but the guy that took our order was hustling like no other, boxes for 3 tables, checks for 2, cleaning and literally carrying tables across the restaurant. He was so apologic, I feel bad mentioning it but his hard work is why I did... So I order the Casa Medina special; 1 beef taco a la carbon (very yummy- great flavor) , 1 chicken flauta (very good flavor meat),1 cheese enchilada, 1 chile something or other (didn't eat it, not a fan of peppers) - came in 2 courses. See pics below. My mom ordered the combo #1. 1 beef taco (beef lacked flavor) and 2 chicken enchiladas that they allowed her to choose her style- she got the blanco... Really enjoyed it.... Only complaints were the temperature of the restaurant (may have been bc the bi polar weather - do you turn on the heat or air?) Other complaint was it seemed a little smokey (cigarettes)... Other then that, we'll be back once a week. Oh and 3 Rita's and all this food price was $39 something. read more
