Service was great and food very good. My husband orders a burrito because he was told they make their own flour tortillas. This might be the case for the smaller dinner tortilla but not the large tortilla used for the burrito. That was disappointing. I ordered a plate with a little bit of everything. The sauce on the chile relleno was sweet and I didn't care for it. The server offered to get me a new one without sauce or a different sauce. I was so full I declined. He then offered for it Togo! It looks very hole in the wall; pretty risky. However, I can't recommend this place enough. I have been about 10 times and it never disappoints. This seems to truly be a family restaurant. The servers, bus staff, and hostess all check on the tables and bring anything needed. The food is excellent. I had the enchiladas Rojas which were the best I've ever had. They also bring out chips and 2 types of salsa when you sit down. One was a traditional salsa, but they serve it warm. The other I think was based on a guacamole dip, but thinner and served chilled. Both were delicious. I also enjoyed the margarita I had with the meal. The house margarita was missing the tequila. I told my server it was missing the tequila and he brought another one. However, they charged me for an additional margarita, an extra $12 plus tax and tip. I told the server I didn't order an extra margarita. He brought over the manager, who has been less than courteous on previous visits. The manager proceeded to gripe me out over the drink and imply that house margaritas don't have the tequila that regular ones do. I told her I would like to pay for our food but not the extra margarita. She was very rude yet still said not to pay for anything and that I was never welcome to return to the restaurant again. Thankfully we had enough cash to pay for the food and tip of what we ordered since the manager refused to bring a correct bill. They do add some msg or other chemicals to the food because it makes me very lethargic for about 3 hours after I eat here every time. I do not experience this lethargy after eating at other restaurants. On a previous visit, this manager told me she was related to the owner. Today she claimed she was the owner. Furthermore, when one walks into the restaurant, one is overwhelmed by the artificial air freshener. Nevertheless, the stuffed beef avocado has been on point every time and the beans a La charra are exceptional. The Gordita is still very good but not nearly as good as it used to be. All in all, the red sauce is mediocre, the green salsa is above average. I would say if you go here, don't bother ordering any alcohol. I've also ordered the 1800 margarita and it did not have the ingredients the menu claimed. The enchiladas and tacos are underwhelming. It certainly seems this 'manager' is trying to put them out of business. Additionally, the AC system has been broken for several weeks in the Texas heat. I even referred a great AC company to them several weeks ago yet today the AC was still not working. read more

I came here for dinner and while I had no real issues with this restaurant, I also wasn't blown away. With the number of good competitors in the area I doubt I'd be returning. The restaurant itself feels a little dirty and the wait staff wasn't real friendly. Also, half the restaurant allows smoking which loses a star right from the start. My enchiladas were delicious and the chips and salsa were pretty good. My margarita tasted watered down and I didn't seem to have much alcohol. I also asked for no salt on the glass yet it had salt. Overall, the food is good but a lot of little things added up to make this a very average experience. Might be fine as a to go or delivery type of place (the food was cheap). Birria was tasty, but a little fatty. Rice and beans were above average (seasoned very well). Coworker had dinner and two beers and his bill was les than $20 w/tip. My dinner was around $17. We literally parked in the gas station next door to avoid having to go around the freeway. Yes, it's pretty divey from the outside but the reviews were good so we went in hoping they were right. We were seated immediately. Drink orders taken. Chips and two yummy salsas served within 30 seconds of being seated. They have a really extensive menu! Some interesting things beyond the typical Tex Mex. I had a house margarita and I am pretty picky about them. Just right! Not too sweet, just enough lime. My son had the Victoria's plate and I got the combo fajitas for one and subbed lettuce and tomato for beans and rice cuz I am watching carb intake somewhat. Our food came out reasonably fast with great customer service. Bathrooms were clean. Discussion worthy artwork throughout. The total bill for two entrees and a marg was $31! This was still lunch prices, btw because it was before 3pm. If in the area, I will make it a point to return. Give them a try! read more

I did a takeout order of pozole for my husband and I, and when I picked up the server I encountered was very kind and welcoming. The order was also ready hot which was really to just go in and grab. So quick service for sure. When I got home we opened up the bag to find everything was individually wrapped to not spill including the salsa! Once everything was opened the smell capture my stomach with excitement. We began eating and the flavor of caldo was delicious.
