Living in Redding for 20+ years. Went to Casa Rios Grill last evening for the first time based on other Yelp reviews. Have to agree totally with the high praised reviews. We found this Mexican cuisine establishment the best in all of Redding!-been to all of them. The taste/quality of the food, homemade chips and salsa was unmatched, and we were surprised by the creative food presentations that were unlike anything we have experienced before in any Mexican restaurant--definitely not the usual oblong platters with the rice, beans, and the featured chosen items in the same old worn out ways. When was the last time you had red chile made from scratch? And homemade corn tortillas? Just passing through Redding, and this former New Mexican found some Chile Colorado heaven! Everything was delicious, from the salsa and chips to the house Merlot to the delicious entrees. The Chile Verde presented the perfect blend of piquant tomatillos, subtle garlic and spicy green chile. The pork was fork tender. The same was true of the Chile Colorado...that homemade red chile was fresh and full of flavor, and the beef was perfectly tender. This place deserves your attention! read more

We really enjoyed our meal at casa Rios grill! We started with the flautas they were very good.One of us had the carnitas plate it was very fresh and delicious! We also had the chicken enchilada. The sauce and the tortillas were homemade really yummy!Also my son in law had the mango shrimp tacos, they were excellent!! The service was friendly and knowledgeable! Not really your typical Mexican restaurant. They favor quality over quantity. The sauces are light and flavorful, the rice is light and fluffy and not overly sauced. I had the steak stuffed poblano pepper and it was delicious. My wife had the chile verde, she loved it. The hand made corn tortillas are awesome. The service was good. My husband and I decided to check it out yesterday and it was pretty good. We were the only ones there so we were able to order fast. Unlike other mexican food restaurants they provided you with salsa and black beans to munch on why you waited for your food. Both were good by the way. I did feel like the food took a little long to come out, but once it did it was good. My husband go the chili verde plate and I ordered a Carne Asada street taco and a chicken sope with red sauce. Meat had ok flavor, but the sauce was one of the best I'd had on both. My husband said his food was really good and he is never quick to give a compliment! He also mentioned his tortillas were bomb! I will say the portion on his plate looked smaller than most in the area, but when we got the check that made sense. It was less than $20 without a tip. Usually we are looking at $25+. Overall we had a good experience and food was decent. May return again if on that side of town. Definitely worth checking out to see if it's your style. read more

Food was as expected for a California themed Mexican style. However the chairs are all just metal bars and by the time my wife and I finished our lunch our rears were sore. I would rate them a strong 4 if they replaced the terrible seats with something that you can relax in while dining. I won't be back as I like to be comfortable while I dine. read more

We were almost immediately sat down by our really nice waitress when we walked in the door. The atmosphere is so nice and was not too loud. We really enjoyed our tamales and soup. The price is good considering the quality of the food. The taco was ok, which is why this is 4 stars. It was hard to choose though. read more

Ate here 2 nights ago. Chips were home made as were the tortillas that came with my pork carnitas. One of best Mexican meals I've had-not heavy and so flavorful. Wait staff was friendly and very pleasant. Atmosphere is low key and not noisy . Take out is also available. I think they're still waiting for liquor license. Try it. You won't be disappointed! Tucked away in a small shopping center on Hartnell, Casa Rios is easy to miss. We initially were looking for another Mexican restaurant open for breakfast and after checking out the reviews on Yelp decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise in the desert wasteland of restaurant choices in Redding. The decor was a refreshing change from the usual kitschy traditional Mexican accessories. The furnishings were inexpensive but tastefully presented, making a positive first impression. It was a chilly morning and I was particularly pleased that an assortment of hot tea was available - who knew that lemon ginger tea could be offered from an establishement whose main fare wasn't breakfast? Finally, after enjoying the (by now famous black bean dip), my chicken street tacos arrived. Perfect - well presented and flavorable. Husband was very pleased with his burrito. Service was on the level of a higher priced establishment. Needless to say, Casa Rios will be our new go to place to satisfy our Mexican food cravings. read more

Small portions. Salsa tasted like blended stewed tomatoes. Bean dip tasteless. Ice tea had a weird flavor. Chicken was flavorless. Daughter didn't even eat her salad as the ranch was very warm & tasted funny. Wouldn't let her eat that. Was willing to give them a break on the slow service and uncomfortable chairs due to just starting out, but won't be going back read more
