Ordered a half plain, half mushroom pizza. I have never had such a bland pizza in my life and the mushrooms were scant, it was hard to tell which half had them and which didn't. Absolutely no seasoning to the sauce and the cheese wasn't good. We won't be ordering from there again. read more

I was born and raised in Montclair 73 yrs. ago, lived on Forest St. I have been coming to this restaurant for years, even before Chris brought it from the original owner that had it (he and his brother worked there back then). To say the food is good is an understatement, it's fabulous. It's hard to find an Italian Pizzeria that knows sauce and how to make it, most places just dump tomatoe sauce in an pan without seasonings, not this place, all their products are fresh and are homemade. The raviolis, baked ziti and the other dishes are mountain sized and good, I should know as I worked in at least 5 pizza establishments in all my years. I try not to review places I've never actually walked into, but I feel compelled to let the world know just how good Panzano's is. This review pertains only to the delivery service, the meat lovers pizza, and the garlic knots. Again, I've never stepped foot in the door so I can't speak for the ambience, seating, parking situation, etc. etc. I called in my first order here last week (meat lovers and garlic knots), was told the wait would be 30 minutes, and truth be told, the delivery guy was at my doorstep exactly 30 minutes after they told me 30 minutes. Impressive. I learned from him that Panzano's had been open for about a year. I'm only sad I didn't know about them sooner. The meatlovers was loaded with meat (see my picture below) and the garlic knots were delicious. Nice marinara as well. $27 for everything, 20% tip included. When I called back here less than one week later for another delivery, I ordered the same thing. This time around, they told me they were out of garlic knots, but said they'd make some fresh for me. Again, I was impressed. Unlike other places, they could have just told me they were out and that I was shit out of luck. Not these guys. I'm just so happy that I FINALLY found a good pizza joint that delivers in my area. I moved to New Jersey 5 years ago and I'm happy to announce that my quest has finally come to an end. We stopped in to grab a couple of slices. The pizzeria did seem clean and service was good but the pizza and garlic knots were probably the worst in town. Very very dry pizza, little flavor, no sauce, and the type of pizza that destroys the roof of your mouth. The garlic knots were very stale - will not be ordering from here ever again. read more

I'm not a fan of one-star reviews. I believe they should be reserved for businesses that are over the top awful. Panzano Pizzeria gets the one-star. I stopped in for a few slices to-go and the pizza was so bad that I feel disrespected. Seriously, it was stupid expensive to the point of feeling overcharged (prices aren't posted anywhere so who knows?) Plus the slices fell apart and seemed old, like days old. I really wanted to love this . But I have mixed feelings. I ordered at 5:30 and the food did not come until almost 7:30. They are less than a mile from my house. The veal parm dinner was good - Not tough at all and the sauce was really tasty..... but they delivered with the wrong pasta. I specifically asked for linguine and it arrived with penne... which I dislike. The personal size pizza was not what I was expecting. The crust was almost non existent and hard as a rock , with almost no color to it. Looked at the bottom and it also had absolutely no color on it. It was a bit unappetizing like supermarket frozen pizza and was also cold. I had to reheat everything. It's unfortunate that I'm writing this because I usually don't have a problem with this establishment. Yesterday, I placed an order for pickup. I ordered an entree and a sandwich. The chicken in the entree was burnt to a crisp and they seemed to try and cover it up with cheese and sauce, as if I wouldn't be able to taste it. As for the sandwich, it was supposed to be a chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo but they sent me a chicken parmigiana sandwich instead. A few years ago we used to love this place. Then one day the quality of pizza went downhill tremendously, and consistently. I didn't have time to update my review because...life. Fast forward to today, I ordered a plain and pepperoni pie because they had online orders and delivery and I needed something fast. Chicken was dry, could barely taste any pesto sauce. I can't tell you it's bad pizza, but definitely not good. First thing I did when I moved to this area 3 years ago, is check out the lay of the land --- and part of that surveying of the neighborhood, was making sure there was a good local pizza joint that's walking distance; I wanted that feeling of when I was a kid growing up in NYC, and had a great pizza place that was a hop n a skip away. Panzano's is that place and then some! They are keeping the neighborhood pizza joint aura and history, alive and well. Prices are fair, pizzas are always fresh, the other goodies like their heroes or hot sandwiches and salads are tah-die-for!!! Most important, is that the staff are great. The owner / head pizza maker I presume , is friendly and always seems happy and ready to chat it up with his customers. Need it to go? NO PROBLEM; need to sit down and eat? NO PROBLEM! Friendly service, good food, the delivery took a bit longer then promised, but hey it was a Thursday night and they seemed busy. Personal pizza was pretty big, could easily feed 4 people. I saved it for later. Chicken Parmesan was excellent. I got it with a side of Penne which was also very good. It was so much food I saved the rest for lunch the next day. There are two factors that I take into account for a good pizza place: 1. good pizza 2. fast delivery Panzano's offers both. I've also ordered chicken parm and the grilled chicken fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, baby arugula sandwich. Although I can't attest for the chicken parm but my boyfriend said it was good. As for the grilled chicken fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, baby arugula sandwich - it's good. It literally has everything in the name on an Italian roll with some sort of vinaigrette dressing. When calling to speak with manager they were very defensive and told us that's why they sent a slice to go with it to make up for the side of the pie that didn't come out right. The pepperoni pie we ordered last night had about 1 1/2 slices of pepperoni on each slice. $34 (1 plain pie, 1 pepperoni pie, + tax and 15% tip) later...and I'm thinking there's many better choices in the area for pizza. For the LOL: One time the delivery driver didn't have a pen and asked me to sign the receipt while leaving me holding 3 pies in my building's doorway. We waited two hours for the worst pizza in town. I mean it was garbage. All the sauce and toppings on one pie had slid off in transit and were just in a soggy pile in the corner of the box. The remaining pie made me wish it had been ruined too. A nearly cheeseless cheese pizza with a gummy crust that remained flavorless even though they conned me into paying fifty cents to salt it.
