My family is from Mexico... this is our go to for great Mexican fare, it's close by and has great service and prices are reasonable. Our favorite dish (and its enough to feed 2-3) is the Molcajete. Served in the named traditional Mexican bowl, it's the best tasting sauce, blended with chilies, seasonings and cream. It's not spicy, so most people will agree on it. In an area where Mexican restaurants are spread out like cactus across the hot sizzling dessert, this restaurant stands out like a bucket of ice cold beers! Bring in the wheel barrow, im gonna need wheeled out of here! After, consuming the express burrito, my stomach felt as if I were to give birth to not one, but eight babies!! This however was not a bad thing due to the incredibly delicious flavor of my meal. Receiving the check, I figured we'd be stuck with a hefty bill, being that the two of us ate enough mexican food to kill a strong working donkey. But, to my surprise, the most expensive item on the check was my coronarita, a big ol' Margarita with an upside-down corona bottle erecting out of my glass like titanic after its romantic date with the iceburg. Went here with several members of my family while we were visiting Denver. When we asked the family where is some good mexican food....no one could come up with answer. Guess, mexican food that is recommendable in Denver is hard to come by. We ended up here. 4 people didn't care for their meal (including me), 2 people were like "mheh" I had their Tacos Carbon. The Taco's come open faced . You can fold them like a taco becuase they load the tortilla with so much crap you can't fold it....oh and the fact that it's so greasy, I got zits just looking at it. This place ranks right up there for the worst Mexican food I've ever had in Colorado; second only to this horrible place in Pueblo. The service isn't slow, it's practically non-existent. It's surprisingly big (the interior dining area), I'll give it that. And yes, they have a patio which is real perk if you want a lovely view of... Parker Road? Authentic? I hate it when people call something like this authentic. It annoys me. Yes, the plates are big... but you aren't really getting more for your money here. The prices are pretty high and all they are doing is spreading your food out in a large surface area to create the illusion of mass quantity. When we walked in, there was no one watching the front, so we just stood around for 5 minutes or so waiting for someone to welcome us or something. We weren't quite sure who was in line for a table or what. The only positive I can write after my experience here is that the place was seemingly pretty clean. My food sucked, it was really very flavorless and their salsa is shameful. To eat here and give it any more then 3 stars you must have been living in Colorado for too long. This is the kind of crap I expect to get in a place like Minnesota... or Wisconsin... not Colorado! I had a combination plate with a shredded beef taco (pre-made store bought shell), a chicken enchilada (disgusting red sauce, no cheese inside) and a crispy chile relleno which, was nothing memorable. We saw our waiter a good 15 minutes after sitting down for the first time at which point he took our drink order. We waited another 5 minutes for our drinks. We didn't see him again for another 15 minutes, at which point he took our food order and then we didn't see him again for the entire meal until we complained that we need drinks refills to what I think was the manager. The manager actually brought our refills, and the waiter brought our check shortly there after. read more

This place is my local 'go-to' restaurant for mexican food. Parking is a little tough sometimes with the construction of a McDonald's going on, but the food is delicious with prompt service. I'm a big fan of good pico and this place brings out a bowl of pico AND a nice, slightly spicy, red salsa with their complimentary chips. I love their Carne Asada and that's my standard dish. I know there's a lot more to their menu and everything I've sampled from my friend's plates has been very good, but I just stick with my Asada. read more

I've now been to this location six to eight times now, and have had good experiences as well as bad. Reminds me of what Forest Gump once said about boxed chocolate, so let me begin with the good. Every time I've ordered the carne asada, it's been really good. Succulent, well-seasoned and fresh, but the sides are bland. Pico is alright apart from the fact that they don't seem to core their tomatoes, while the Salsa is also so-so, and certainly not what you'd expect at an "authentic" Mexican joint. I would guess it's probably out of a can. The chicken dishes are nothing special and fall into the category of getting what you pay for. After all, what can you really expect for $9 (tacos) or $12.95 (fajitas). Among the more disappointing dishes I've tried were the Caldo de Camoron and Sopa De Tortillas. For the first I was hoping for something similar to a great ceviche I used to get in Tucson. This dish was a total disappointment, however, punctuated by a selection of raw camarones, with mud vein thrown in as a bonus. I was able to eat about 1/3 of this and threw the rest out. The sopa de tortillas was ordered on my most recent August visit for a weekday lunch. This is a dish I've had from dozens of different places throughout the SW and Mexico, and I am sad to say it was the worst I've ever had. The portion size was enormous, but lacked anything close to freshness. For a sopa such as this distinction of flavor is key, but the serving I had tasted like blended mush. The service, while usually passable, was totally non-existent on this visit, with the server disappearing for 30+ minuets after bringing the food to the table. No refills of either chips and salsa or soda, and I eventually had to just go to the register and pay the bill there. As a result of the inconsistency and poor value I don't see myself returning anytime soon. read more

Thank goodness my friend who invited me to this place paid for the meal. What a disappointment! This is probably the worst Mexican food I've eaten in a sit down restaurant...ever. I wasn't terribly hungry when I went to dinner Tuesday night. I ordered a chicken enchilada and a chicken taco from the a la carte portion of the menu. I didn't want any side items like rice and beans. What I received tasted and appeared to be warmed shredded, canned chicken (and gobs of it) between a tortilla and a taco shell. Sure there was some melted cheese and lettuce involved (no other accoutrements) but nothing could save this disastrous plate. The chicken was absent any flavor except salt. The taco shell was soggy, to the point it couldn't be picked up without falling apart. I know other reviewers seemed to like the chips and salsa at this joint. I can't even give that a thumbs up. It was okay at best. I would have been happier going to the grocery store and buying salsa from the shelf. I'm struggling to think of something nice to say but nothing comes to mind. I don't readily hand out one star ratings, either. The food was really terrible. read more

This is a wonderful place, we've been many a time, the service is always good, the portions large, the chips and salsa that come with a side of extra goodies.......... Yum mummmmmmmmmm. While all the menu items result in favorable reviews from friends, it's the pork carnitas that keeps me coming back for more. Not only is the portion (and plate) size larger than most other places, but the flavor is spot-on when it comes to the dish. I came to have dinner here, the food and drinks were disgusting. Drinks had no flavor what's so ever I got a mango margarita and it tasted watered down and like cheap tequila. I asked for my carne asada to be extra well down and I still received it pink. My girlfriend ask for enchiladas and it had more oil than sauce there was a chunk of celery in her rice when her meal didn't include celery. Only good thing about this place was the chips and salsa. As far as the restaurant side goes, the menu is a bit confusing but once you figure out the "sweet spots" so to speak, it is really tasty food at reasonable prices. I have friends that are here all the time, so I make the venture frequently. I usually come for drinks, which are very fairly priced and pretty strong. Margaritas aren't the tastiest things in the world, the tequila is clearly not top shelf, but it's pretty decent and strong so you definitely get your money's worth. Food here for a vegetarian leaves something to be desired. Not a ton of options and the ones that are on there are typically vegetable burrito with a red sauce of some kind. Didn't blow me away. Boyfriend got chicken enchiladas, they were standard if I remember correctly. The place itself is huge, the bar area is a little shabby but the have an awesome patio. Service is great, very prompt and if they like you, and they appreciate their regulars and show it. I will continue to go here for some drinks and fun, maybe some appetizers, but I have been to better veg friendly Mexican places before, and I think I will stick to those for my cravings. read more

The last 3 times I have been there, the waiter charged more for our meal than was posted on the menu and the last 2 times this occured it was the same waiter but I didn't want to have to argue with him in front of my family whom was with me.
