This place is such a great hidden gem. There can't be more than 10 tables in the place and they are close together - however, you work with what you got. My boyfriend and I stopped here before a Bruins game and the vibes are immaculate with great people watching. We had gorgeous weather last week so they had the door and windows open. Bread came out and we ordered our drinks. We ordered the meatballs for our appetizer and they were so tender and had a lovely taste to them. He ordered the carbonara and I got the chicks Parmesan. Their pasta is really lovely and the chicken was pounded so thin. Honestly, amazing. Their sauce is really good too. For dessert, I got the volcano cake and it's different than others I've had as it has a rich layer of ganache/almost like pudding covering the cake; very yummy too. It was completely gone. The service was a little odd as I wasn't sure who we needed to ask for things - it just seemed a little disjointed and got a little loud near the end of the meal when people were chatting so I think our server didn't hear us at first when we asked for the check which isn't his fault by any means but just something I'm noting. It was about $100 for 2 people with appetizer, sodas, 2 mains, a dessert which I think is solid for the North End and also an amazing meal that I don't regret paying for. Before booking the reservation I called and had an extensive conversation with the staff about ingredients and preparation. They were so kind and patient during the call, clarifying with the kitchen along the way. We came in for lunch and were a larger group with multiple children. They were great with all of us. The only small knock was, when one of the kids accidentally spilled their drink, the staff did not initially provide us with extra napkins to clean up. We did not expect staff to clean up our mess, but after going back and forth from the bathroom they finally gave us some extra supplies. Now to why you're here - the food. It was delicious. I ordered some of the big pasta with grilled chicken and broccoli with just olive oil and garlic. Had such a nice meal here, as they were unexpectedly able to see our party of two since we came in later in the night. We were sat in the cutest little two top at the restaurant in the nook of the window directly facing the street, giving us a bird eye view to people watch and protecting us from the chilly air and giving a sense of privacy from the rest of the noise. The place was decorated so nicely and only had about 10 tables, keeping the vibe intimate. Juan, our server, was super friendly and helpful, giving his honest opinion and recommendations on each of the dishes we inquired about. He brought out bread with olive oil and Parmesan cheese to start us off, so fresh and delicious. We almost got the burrata appetizer but went with the chicken Parm spring rolls at his recommendation, since they were relatively new to the menu and so unique, something we couldn't get anywhere else. They were pretty yummy, I'm not the biggest fan of fried egg roll style dishes, but the flavor was there and the marinara sauce for dipping was seasoned so perfectly. I didn't have any drinks, but my friend had the lemon drop martini and was raving about it. For dinner, we decided to share the pesto gnocchi and the lobster ravioli. Juan warned us that the pesto gnocchi was not as flavorful as some gnocchi in other restaurants due to them being a nut free restaurant, but said they add a creamy component to the texture that gives it a special flare. He was not wrong. Although it wasn't the best tasting pesto, I've had, the texture was delicious - I could have even used a pinch more creaminess! We added some shrimp on top, these were cooked perfectly, but overall we added a little salt and pepper to the dish to enhance the flavor once at our table. The lobster ravioli was absolutely perfect. I had a similar dish the night before at another restaurant in the north end during my trip and this one completely took the cake. The sauce was 10 times better and the flavors were so potent and aromatic. We shared the tiramisu after, which wasn't made the traditional Ladyfinger way that I'm used to, but was still yummy and light, the cake had a mousse-like texture that made it not too heavy after such a filling meal. For our last night in Boston, we headed to Little Italy. Casarecce was our choice. On Saturday night, the area was busy so I'm glad we made a reservation beforehand. Casarecce is a cozy place with lots of tables in one room. Staff worked together well to bus tables quickly and get their guests seated as quickly as possible. Despite the bustle of the place, once you have your table, sit back and enjoy and no one rushes you. I chose the Casarecce chicken vodka entree. It was delicious. I loved the noodles and lightness of the sauce. It came with a ton of chicken. Portions are large and sharable if you want a smaller portion. Decided to give Casarecce another try since we enjoyed the food so much previously, and I am SO glad we came again. We made reservations online and were promptly seated upon arrival, even though all of North End was quite busy due to the ongoing Saint Anthony's Feast. Unlike last time, our server this day was incredibly attentive, professional, and helpful. He took our order in a timely manner and checked in on us throughout the evening. The food is the best part of this restaurant. We ordered the Lamb Ragu and Pappardelle Alfredo, and they were just as amazing as the other dishes we had tried previously. Pasta was perfectly chewy and al dente. We especially loved the Pappardelle Alfredo, which was savory and rich without feeling heavy. The calamari was delicious and the chicken in the chicken parm was TO DIE for. The best in the north end. I'll admit that the pasta that came with it was mid, but that chicken.. I visited this location for a business lunch with customers. First thought is this place is extremely cozy. Next thought was that this establishment looks to fit the part, totally Italian. Four of us had an outstanding Saturday lunch over Labor Day weekend at this North End restaurant. Honestly we were aimed for one that was two doors down and crowded, but this place had a sign out front that pastas were hand made and it had good reviews, so in we went. It's very small inside, but we settled in to wonderful service. Note: they do not have a full liquor license, so you can order some things but not others. We didn't get it either, but no problem as my lemon vodka martini was delightful. Others were happy with wine. Food: after you order they bring bread with oil and cheese. Honestly not my fave bread ever, but the entrees were outstanding. The Chicken Vodka had to be my fave. I shared that with the Spaghetti Vongole (clams), and that was terrific also, but darn that chicken vodka was special. Husband loved his lasagna, while DIL raved over her mushroom ravioli. As locals will say, you can stop by any restaurant on the North End and find great Italian food. I've found this to be true over the years and Yelpers highly recommend this venue. We visited on a weekend getaway for our wedding anniversary and found our bellies happy and full. This is a great LOCATION on one of the most heavily traveled streets in the North End. SPACE--with most venues on the east coast--is a commodity in this venue; be prepared to sit next to another diner or couple. The FOOD was great! We started with a bottle of wine, caprese appetizer, lamb ragu and squash ravioli. I agree with Yelper Bea T. who suggested the bread was "commercially plain"; reminded us of Turano bread. And while the signs say homemade pasta, I do not expect that the pasta is made in the tiny kitchen. I make homemade pasta all the time, and this felt like it was dried pasta (possibly procured from a local establishment and cooked on-site?). NOTE: Having visited the area several times, I always recommend A) getting a reservation or B) showing up right before dinner rush (we arrived at 4:15 and were seated right away). Also--while Casarecce will take credit, if you're looking for dessert afterwards, many of the pastry shops around the area only accept cash. Doesn't hurt to be prepared! read more
