Casarecce was an impromptu choice for us during our Little Italy tour in Boston. It's a small little restaurant that's been around since 2019. They claim their pasts is the best in town and I believe them. The pasta is handmade daily. It certainly tastes as good as they claim. One of my favorite places to eat fresh pasta, have good service and incredible atmosphere.

During an impromptu afternoon in Boston it was suggested to me to try any restaurant or cafe advertising it makes something in-house. I was dining alone, and I wanted pasta. The first person who greeted and seated me was a busser, who invited me to sit in the little window alcove and cleared the other two place settings as I was seated. The busser turned me over to a server who took me through the menu. Spaghetti and meatballs never tasted so good! The pasta texture was thicker and perfectly al dente. We were wandering the streets of the north end looking for a place to have dinner for a party of 8. Casarecce seated us right away and were so welcoming. First, the soft bread basket they brought out was delightful with olive oil and sprinkle cheese in a tiny dish with small serving spoons. Decided to try this restaurant after reviewing some of the other popular spots in the North End....started off with a bottle of sparkling water and my girlfriend had a glass of moscato, for an appetizer we decided to try the Eggplant Modugnese, which wasn't a great start to the experience, eggplant left something to be desired, and I can't say the red sauce was the best I've ever tasted either.....we got a little nervous at that, but the dinner got better with the entree's which were both very good and full of flavor. My girlfriend had Porcini Mushroom Ravioli which she loved and I decided on the Veal Portofino which was was large medallions of veal, stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella and spinach in a sage port wine demi glaze cream sauce....normally im not a big sage fan, but luckily it wasn't over powering.....I would definitely get it again. Went here for dinner on a Sunday night, and it was easy to make a reservation the same day, but we still had to wait a bit in line to be seated. It's a very small place, so I would not recommend walking in as they did turn away a few parties since they couldn't accommodate walk ins at peak dinner time (around 7pm). The food here was amazing! We ordered the broccoli rabe as a starter, and I ordered the eggplant parm while my friend ordered the pesto gnocchi. The eggplant parm and Casarecce (a homemade spiral pasta) was amazing! The eggplant parm was sliced very thin and layered, and the casarecce was deliciously soft and the red sauce accompanying it was perfect. The best lobster ravioli I've ever had. That's all. The pasta was homemade and you could tell with every bite. Service was a little weird. We had a reservation but ended up waiting an additional 20-30 mins because our table wasn't ready. The food was worth the wait but it just felt unusual that we had to wait so long after having a reservation. Once we were sat, the service improved considerably. The ambience gave a cozy intimate atmosphere that took me back to my days in Italy. A must do if you're in Boston and the street has a lot to explore if you need to wait like we did, reservation or not. read more

This was after a very, very long day of not having the best day. The original plan was to go to Carmelina's down the street, but with a 90 minute wait in the pouring rain, it was obvious that this wasn't going to be an option. So my mom and I walked a bit further up on Hanover Street from where we came and saw this place had some empty seats. We decided to take a chance not getting our hopes up too high when we hit the jackpot. Our waiter was one of the nicest guys we came across and to be honest, after the day we had, he was a welcome sight. We started off with the chicken Parmesan spring rolls. It was perfect in the sense that there weren't too many to get full on before the main dish was served. The marinara was so tasty and we enjoyed them thoroughly. My mom had the veal portofino and she said it was one of the best Italian dishes she has had in quite a while. They definitely didn't skimp of the portions and was ranting and raving about it all the way home. I had the veal saltimbocca and they nailed that one as well. This is one of my favorite go to Italian dishes and if I see it, I'll usually order it. The decor inside is definitely tight as they tried to fit as many tables in the dining room as possible. This also proves the theory that on a place like the North End on Hanover Street, even though it was only half full when we got there, it was jammed by the time we were done and shows that you have to know what it is that you are doing if you expect to make it there or else you won't last long at all. We didn't have very high expectations going in, but we left extremely satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to go back. read more

Enjoyed this nice spot in the North End. I was curious about the hype as well as some one-off reviews. On the later I think some folks need to get a life and realize how privileged we are to eat out. So with that off my chest, I appreciated the wide variety on the menu and came ready for the chicken parmigiana. The pasta was al dente and the chicken was tender with a nice flavor. Holy hell this spot was a treat. We tried to get in at one of the more popular spots a few doors down. However, as luck would have it they couldn't squeeze us in. We stumbled upon Casarecce and I'm so glad we did! The wait staff was so darn friendly and made us feel like family. They shared stories of their own childhood and how this spot brings memories of their Grandmother's cooking. Everything from the fresh bread to the homemade pasta was incredible. Visiting Boston for the very first time, I was looking forward to catching some of the rich history that surrounds this wonderful city. But, the other goal was to take in some of the wonderful culinary options that were upon me. Without a particular spot in mind, I heard about the North End which is peppered with countless Italian restaurants specializing in Italian, seafood and desserts. For a little guidance, I turned to my fellow Yelpers who have always steered me in the correct direction and with the very high marks, I dined at Casarecce. Casarecce is what you would envision for a comfortable Italian restaurants that was not large and comfortably full. There were about 12 tables and every person dining looked as though they were regulars. All seemed to be having very pleasant conversations with the staff. Our server, whose name escapes me, could not have been more helpful and pleasant. He was prompt in taking our pre-dinner beverages and appetizers along with warm bread. We had a chance to have a good conversation before hearing about the evening's specials. Things started with a Caesar's that was split. It was a very generous portion with fresh shaved Parmesan atop very crisp Romaine and just the right amount of dressing. With the incredible description, I ordered the special. . . Lobster and Shrimp Diavolo Spaghetti. As you can see from the picture, there was a very generous portion of Lobster that included a claw(s) and the tail They were perfectly prepared and were perfect on pasta prepared from scratch and the rich sauce that was full of spices and simmered a good amount of time. This was the first time to have Lobster from the East Coast and having grown up on Pacific Lobster, this has become my preference. This dish was one of the best I've ever had! Dinner included a wonderful bottle of wine and was described perfectly by our server. From beginning to end, this was a simply outstanding dinner experience. As I've stated earlier, the number of tables makes it a semi quaint spot, so I encourage you to make reservations in advance. My experience with the suggestions of our server were spot on and I encourage you to listen carefully to what he/she has to say. The added benefit is that it is located in the heart of rich American history and after dinner, a stroll around the neighborhood will not only fulfill your palette with a Cannoli from a local shop, but with will satisfy your quench for history that seems to be around every corner. I can only review the bruschetta because I stopped in for lunch on a weekday and was told but the incredibly rude waiter I had to order everything I wanted at once because the chef was cranky and they were busy. I didn't even get a chance to really look at the menu. And I did not get the basket of bread others had. The waiter was extremely rude to everyone in our area (it's a small place). He got hostile with a couple who tried to order a second glass of wine because they should have ordered that with their food and first glass Bruschetta was watery and blah and wine was mediocre. I came here to get Italian food in Little Italy while visiting some friends in Boston. I had tried making a reservation at various places day of, and I found an opening for this place at 8:45. I showed up at 8:30 and was seated immediately. FOOD: I came here with my partner and we got two things and shared. I was quite impressed with the veal Amalfi, I found the veal stuffed with various things like spinach very tasty, and it was on some pasta as well. We also shared a the parpadelle Bolognese, which I very much enjoyed. DESSERT: Our waiter was really selling the tiramisu so we got it. It was probably the best tiramisu I've ever had, super light. Enjoyed it a great deal. SERVICE: I was super impressed with the service. It seems to be a operation run by a family, or at least there were two of brothers that were waiters. They were very friendly introduced themselves when they attended to us the first time and were very attentive. Really enjoyed talking to them and they made us feel very welcome. AMBIANCE: It's a really cute date spot, but a bit crammed. If you come later in the evening (like us at 8:30) it empties out quite a bit so it feels more relaxed. First of all, came here by accident, but like the late great bob ross would say it was a happy little accident. I was seated right away, no reservation, no problem. I was able to get a bottle of wine and an appetizer within a few minutes. Our server Josh was really excited to let us know about what paired well with our wine and that is what we ended up ordering. Not a huge spot, but not cramped either, we were able to enjoy a nice dinner not quite but not too loud either. I was only in Boston a couple days and was not disappointed. Had lunch at Casarecce. The service was impeccable. The sever was very friendly, attentive and helpful with the menu. I had the Cesar salad to start and the porcini mushroom ravioli for my entree. Service was not what we expected. We arrived at 6:10 for a 6:30 reservation and they hesitantly sat us because we were early. The restaurant only had 2 other tables at the time. As we waited to get service, 2 other groups came jn and asked if they could be seated and they did not have reservations. By a long shot, this was the best Italian restaurant in the known universe, and possibly the unknown, although we can't say for sure because we don't know what's out there. I've never been to Italy, but my wife has, and she said the atmosphere was just like Italy, so good job in that regard. The food was exquisite as well. Personally, I'm so happy everywhere else was crowded, because then I wouldn't get the pleasure to eat here. And honestly, everyone from those oter restaurants need to move here. It's that good!!! Let me explain - first, I'm on vacay in one of the oldest cities in the country and in Italy town, so it goes to say my expectations are high. I'm expecting to forsake my Italian foods back home, but I must say that didn't happen. Food was pretty basic. Overall, establishment was pretty classy and set the tone well for a date night (also pocket-sized so attention was great). Glasses had a little residue (hard water, lime deposit)? The Moscato was a bit on the dry side (which was for my girl, who loves moscato and made me drink it - not a moscato person :D). Bread was cold and very simple sourdough. The mint in the pasta was a little overbearing. Pasta wasn't as al dente as I would have expected for being fresh, homemade. I know they take great pride in their work, so kuddos on being fresh! Chicken parmigiana had a large amount of cartilage, which is super unfortunate because it was starting to be tasty. Eggplant parm was a little on the "weak" side from a flavor perspective. The sauce helped but I would not focus on just the sauce being center stage. Oh...also, my parm looked like it had 2 mozzarella squares on top - a lot of cheese. The Ceaser salad was actually the best part of the dinner, but $16 for a salad is a bit much... Overall, food was not horrible (at the very least, basic) but I would not return when back in Boston.
