My husband and I went for lunch yesterday. He had a bacon burger and I had the half Avacado turkey sandwich and clam chowder. The customer service was amazing, we were seated quickly and our waitress was very nice and checked on us numerous times and asked to refill our drinks. I was really impressed at how nice this place was. We just moved to Albany a month ago so I'm excited to try all the restaurants in town. First time here. The food was OK...not great but not bad. The coconut shrimp were on point, the sautéed ones a little over done. The Cajun pasta lacked any kick, but was ok. The creme brûlée was burnt. What made the meal was our server, Jordan. He was polite, easy-going and really knew his stuff. Party of 3. Had the fishermans platter, Cascade chicken and seafood fettuccine. Cascade Chicken: so dry and flavorless - and wet on the bottom. French Fries were pretty good. Fishermans platter: Shrimp and clam strips were ok. Pan Fried Mussels tasted like they were fried in old oil, Cod was not fresh and outer fry was soggy, no crisp. Very wet. Potatoes were old, cold and tasteless. Seafood Fettuccine: sauce was good, very little seafood and tiny pieces, noodles were overcooked, toast was in itself a joke - grilled on one side/soggy on the other. Soda was flat and syrupy. Initial bread serving was good, the Bloody Mary was excellent and service was good except they only offered a free desert for a pretty bad meal. We ate more than we would have bc we were starving (fished all day). The molten lava cake was ok. Overall, way overpriced for absolutely terrible food. I'm thinking it's a tourist trap kind of place as it's by the hotels. read more

The food here is consistently good, my lovely bride had a terrific tilapia, which I recommend you pair with the mango chutney available on the menu with another plate, sadly their own chef hasn't thought of it yet, but the flavors are terrific. The steaks are good and there is nothing to complain about across the board. Since we cannot have a real Claim Jumper restaurant, the folks at Cascade have created a nice replica. To them I say, Thank you. The only thing holding this restaurant back is their waitstaff. I always feel bad for the owners that such a low quality group of individuals is holding them back, and yes, I know it's a sign of the times and the area we live in, but to me, hope springs eternal. I believe if I could train them in customer service, they wouldn't have to be terrible. But this is Oregon, and the humans here have given up. That's reality. We went there on a friday afternoon for lunch, and oh my god! the wait staff was very polite, and courtious. the atmosphere was great, and it was spotless clean. i had a terryaki burger, that was served with freshly cut, grilled pineapple. it was excelent. my daughter had a club sandwich, that was out of this world. Jose Lopez, the chef, does not cut corners. the club was loaded with bacon and turkey. the lettuce was nice and crispy, and the fries were not wilted. we got to speak to the owner of the establishment, Sharon Mitchell, and what a joy it was to speak with her. our waitress, Jill Morgan, was outstanding. we are giving 5 stars to this esablishment for the excelence and performance, from not only kitchen but floor staff too, and outstanding flavors. Very clean place. Good for groups. I have been there twice and each time I am let down. Seems like whenever I go in they are vacuuming or something... gets old. Also, the salad looked like it came out of a bag (average, generic lettuce) and the dressing surely came out of can. I had the sun dried tomato dressing and it was gelatinous...not fresh, bland flavor. This is indicative of other items I and my family have had. The food does not scream "fresh" when I get it in front of me, though it is perfectly eatable. I can't even remember what else I or my family had. I have no intention of going back. read more

Drove down for a Sunday lunch. The place shares a parking lot with a couple of 'suite' hotels. Exterior is attractive and the interior is clean and tasteful. The median age of diners was about 70 (again, Sunday lunch), but there were a couple of young families, and it seems friendly for all ages. The menu is varied with burgers, sandwiches, and comfort food -- as well as beef, chicken, and seafood. I had a prime rib dip sandwich with an included side of prime rib chili. Portions were adequate, if not ample. The prime rib was moist, flavorful, and not overcooked, The 'dip' was delicate and certainly not the over-salted brown juice often associated with a 'dip' sandwich. The chili was aromatic, well seasoned, and came topped with sour cream and grated cheddar. Nice! Bonus: my iced tea was 'real' -- I'm sure it was brewed on-site and it was a good accompaniment. Service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the large windows in the main dining area that gave good light. Overall, high marks for a casual restaurant. read more

I've eaten at Cascade Grill a number of times while in Albany on business. The restaurant is fairly new and is nicely decorated and clean. The service has always been extremely good. You can dine in the main dining room or the bar. The bar can get a little more rowdy than the dining room but the menu is the same and there are comfortable booths. I always choose this when dining alone. It's a little more lively. I've tried a number of things on the menu. The Fishermans Platter is very good, though fried. I enjoyed the Lemon Thyme Tilapia and the Smoked Salmon Pizza appetizer is a must try! Pizza spread with basil pesto topped with mozzarella, smoked salmon, red onions, capers and mushrooms, topped with fresh shredded parmesan and baked. Yummy! Cascade also has a nice wine selection. They are located just off the I-5 freeway at Knox Butte near the Holiday Inn Express. Worth a try! read more

In town for business and after a seven hour drive I just wanted seething close to the hotel and nice. Well, it's close to the hotel. I ordered the Cascade Chicken, vegetable soup and Rice Pilaff. The soup literally was at my table within a minute of completing my order. Hot and tomatoey, very decent cup of soup to start the meal. However, that's where the high point was. The chicken was delivered at a decent pace although they should have left it under the warmer for a couple more minutes. The cheese was only half melted and the rice was undercooked and cold. On the brighter side the chicken was grilled with skill and the staff are friendly. Clean and classy environment and very convenient when staying in one of the hotels next door. Service by Sunny was lovely, very attentive and friendly. The menu seems upscale with a wide variety. But a steak house should know how to cook meat. I ordered the prime rib rare and received a solid medium. As a rule I don't send back food so I endured a brown, tough piece of meat. Shame on you cooks for being so careless in such a presentable establishment and being responsible for a disappointing experience. Ok - so the good thing is it isn't bad. The bad thin is that it wasn't a knock your sock off kind of place. I ordered the BLT. For $11.00 you get an extremely flat toasted bread, "a" lettuce leaf, bacon from breakfast, and a couple tomato slices. To be honest, I was expecting more even though it is a BLT. Stopped in Albany on our way to Seattle today. Randomly got the hotel next door to this eatery. Walked over and had a great dinner. Meatloaf was good. Portions just the right size in our over portioned restaurants theses days like a Black Bear Diner for example. Our server Bry was charming and professional. We came in here because it was right off of the main road and was recommended by some locals. We ordered lunch and got a Reuben sandwich and a Prime Dip. The Reuben sandwich had a good amount of sauerkraut, cheese and corned beef. However, the French Dip was the table favorite. The dip was flavorful and delicious! The sandwich had a good amount of prime rob in a delightful French Roll. The service was friendly and attentive. The pricing was reasonable and affordable for a lunch out. We also came with a large group and they were able to seat us in no time and were very accommodating. The Reuben was $11.50 and the Prime Dip was $11.99. Came here with a few friends. After driving a few hours each to meet in the middle, we were starving when we arrived for lunch. There were maybe three other tables when we got here, but the service was really slow. Drinks took a few minutes (had to ask for straws after refills because we couldn't get them the first go-round). We ordered when everyone arrived, and some got fries with their meals, others, salads. Salads came pretty quick, with oil and vinegar. They still put empty dressing bowls on the salad plates--I thought this was funny. They also gave everyone empty bread plates, so we were left waiting and wanting for bread that never came--not really sure what the purpose of these was for--disappointed us. Took over 45 minutes for our food to come out for a table of 6. Two sandwiches, two hot sandwiches, a burger, and a hot plate. We were all starving, and the only people to get any relief were the two with the salads, who had half-empty plates brought out. Perhaps smaller plates should be used, or the salad should be served with the meal so it doesn't make the plates look so sparse. The quality of the food for what I tried was pretty good. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food, but we were meeting up after not seeing each other in a while, so it was mostly catching up. We had a great time, but it would have been nice if we didn't have to ask for beverage refills/condiments and the dessert menu and wait forever for both the main course and desserts to come out. The prices were higher than what I would have paid for comparable items elsewhere. As it was with our chit-chat, I didn't mind the long time, but we were starving. In a hurry, I would avoid. Our server seemed to have an odd dry sense of humor/wit so we couldn't tell if he was really dull and didn't get when we asked for something or was making a joke. Had previously been coming in every now and then for happy hour with friends and family. Likely won't be going back. Our last couple of times there, the food has gone downhill quite a bit. But the real reason I hesitate to return is the experience we last had. While the bartender is always helpful and friendly, there seems to be a group of "regulars" in there now who make happy hour downright miserable. For starters, my mom and I were treated to the Outdoor channel during our last visit to the lounge. Look, I get that we're in Oregon and all, but do I really need to watch animals being shot while I'm trying to relax after a hard day? The regulars at the bar were into it, but I think perhaps a more neutral TV choice in the bar would be more acceptable for a business. Speaking of regulars, we were also treated to burps, flatulence AND vulgarity by one particular individual at the bar the entire time. That guy appears to have a permanent spot because staff all knew him, as did other clientele. Guy was disgusting. Needless to say, this was not the relaxing time we'd come in for, so we left fairly quickly. Sad, because I liked this place. read more
