Definitely a great spot for us on the windward side. I'm impressed with the improvements that they've made to the driving range. Not a top golf but you'll find 2 tiers and a cabanas on top. Concession stand with some drinks, beer and snacks. Definitely need to work on repaving the parking lot soon. I know it's difficult to up keep being windward but hey, it'd be nice not to worry about my car dropping 6 inches into a ditch. Finally had the chance to play here. Only 11 holes were available but for the price with cart you could not beat. I can imagine how impressive the course was back in the day. I hope one day it is restored fully to its former glory. Aside from that, you've got some amazing views of the mountains behind Waimanalo. It's sort of an oasis, away from the city entirely. Not like Ewa courses where planes are constantly flying over head or seeing traffic passing by. If you can get past the not so great greens the course is in good condition. I really hope that olomana gets more traction, it's a great location, lots of range space, reasonably priced and they do have beer in the pro shop. Keep the golf game alive! read more

Stopped here for a drink after visiting the local beach nearby. If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would but for lack of options I'm rounding up. Grateful as non-locals to not only be allowed in but welcomed with open arms. The beer garden drew us in and the waitress we had was on her first day so she seated us upstairs instead of there. To our enjoyment that happened because we enjoyed a meal and drink that we're incomparable. Nice little surprise stop! read more

Once a local golfer's favorite course, Olomana Golf Course has seen its better days. The club house seems to be ravished by termites and the exterior of the building could use a little bit of work. The course itself is built on reclaimed swamp land which floods after a heavy downpour. Fairways tend to develop big cracks in it when the ground dries up in the summer. The problem is so persistent that it's written in as a local rule where there's a free lift and drop, should your ball come to rest on one of those crevices. Greens can be a bit on the sticky side, which makes long putts a bit difficult since you need to give it a pretty good rap. Greens can be skittish, with lots of bumps, easily throwing the ball off line. Distance from the regular tees is relatively short, and there are par 5s that are reachable in two, depending on how strong the winds are blowing. There are a few times that I started the round with an eagle, birdie, par, birdie. This course was one of our favorites when greens fees were around $35 - $48 but currently it's $58. Quite frankly, the $10 difference is huge where this course is concerned. Most courses that charge in that price range has better facilities and amenities. And they most certainly have golf carts with brakes that work. I realize that the epic flood a couple of years ago severely crippled their cash flow. But it was the bum deal with Pacific Links prior to it that started it's downward spiral. To get the play it had in it's heyday, the entire course need to improve or green fees need to come down. They're caught in a catch-22 which hopefully they can snap out of and come out a winner. Because if they win, local golfers win too. read more

Havent played here in awhile, before the landslide. It was my inaugural round after the first Covd19 shutdown. We had an early tee time 730 and it went smoothly, clearly marked waiting line with doors open to the pro shop. Wasn't neccessary for us because there weren't anybody around. A group was heading off in their cars as we walked up and we headed off without seeing anyone. Once on the course you could see it was busy, but it never felt crowded. I dont know why, but there seemed to be more than usual exuberant golfers. They were yelling so it could be startling. Maybe they were overjoyed at being out. There are lots of water features so expect to lose a few balls. I did not like the tees, they were so uneven and hard, we had trouble getting our tees in. The fairways were also very hard in some places for some reason. The greens had just been aerated so I wont review those, but I liked that they put a plastic ring around the hole so you dont have to touch the cup or flag. Warning...no vending machines, no water stations, no clubhouse so you must pack as if you are hiking or camping. The bathrooms are open. Lovely views and I imagine Michelle Wee growing up playing here, it is pleasant out there. read more

The only thing that saves this course is the mountain views. Honestly some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered at any business, not just a golf course. The lady in the pro shop is just plain miserable. She didn't greet us or even look up from the counter while checking in. All she said was "$62". After we paid we then headed to grab our cart and the Marshall needed to see our receipts. I didn't even think of it and threw mine away right in front of him before he asked for it. He literally told me I had to dig through the trash to get him the receipt even though the lady at the club house could've easily confirmed I paid. The course is also poorly maintained. Greens are inconsistent speeds and need a lot of work to repair. Ponds are dark brown and smell putrid. You could play much better courses for the same green fee. It's unfortunate because the location and layout give this course a lot of potential. I've played here twice now and would not come back unless someone else was paying my green fee. Honestly nothing about this course is worth my money. read more

I'll always have a soft spot for Olomana Golf Course. It's probably the course I've played more than any other growing up on the Windward side. It used to be in better shape but it's a fun course to play on with great views. Tons of interesting water features and marshland, this course is perfect for a golfer of any skill level. I'd say at this point I get out and play Olomana 5-6 times a year. Usually when I want a round to build confidence after a bad round, because I know I'll shoot well here. It's not the most difficult course. Pretty forgiving, but a fun layout. The condition of the course leaves a bit to be desired, but to be honest the course probably hasn't been immaculate in over 30 years. The fairways are always pretty beat up, I think that's just based on the land it sits on. The greens aren't the nicest, but were in pretty good shape recently. The driving range is one of my favorite things about this course. It's double decked, with tons of stalls, and the bottom stalls have shade for these hot summer days. There is a small chipping and putting area which tends to get crowded. Back in it's heyday, Olomana had ton's of nice staff, nice carts, and a great restaurant. All of that is pretty much gone. They went through some ownership changes, and at one point looked like they were going to close but survived. Taking that all into account the only negative thing I can say is the price is too high now. $58 on a weekend is steep for the condition of the course. When I play here nowadays, because of this I think it's only a good deal at twilight. I'll always love Olomana, but it's not my first choice for a round anymore. read more

My husband loves golf and after watching "The Short Game" on Netflix he's resolved that my daughter Izzy will be a golf phenom. Unlike her mother, my little one is blessed with natural athleticism that I had to work for, and I too am convinced that she'll be fantastic at any sport she decides to undertake. So when my brother invited us to a morning excursion to the driving range, my husband was totally pumped to make the drive over the Pali to the Windward side. When we arrived we watched yellow capped kids putting on the green and my husband remarked how they've got a solid junior golf program. Something to think about for Summer vacation! Olomana has mixed reviews on Yelp but my 5-stars are simply for our driving range experience. The driving range is two levels and I was ecstatic that on the bottom level you're shaded from the hot sun. On a Sunday morning it wasn't too busy and our party of six had lots of space to spread out. My husband went to get ball tokens and returned with a gift of crispy french fries ($5) and Goteborg balls ($5)! If you haven't had Goteborg balls before you have to try them! It's a disc of fried Goteborg sausage (think Portugese sausage meets salami) with furikake rice on top. Simple and oh so satisfying! We spent the next two hours snacking, hitting balls ($5 a bucket) and molding our little one into the next Izzy the Great! She hit ball after ball and with each attempt we all cheered her on in excitement. Maybe she'll play golf professionally one day, maybe she'll be a mega singing star, maybe she'll eat all the McDonald's ice cream cones in the world (this was what she wanted to be the other day), either way I feel like the Olomana driving range (and goterberg balls) will certainly be part of treasure trove of happy childhood memories. I don't really know how to write a review for Olomana Golf Links that would either encourage or discourage you from playing here. I will just list my pros and cons... PROS Double decker driving range. You can choose to practice shaded under covering but deal with no breeze. I prefer up top where the wind can cool me down. Cheap green fees compared to other courses. Greens are fast. Has its share of challenges: some strategic holes where you have to think about laying up and the signature par 3 8th hole is somewhat of an island. CONS not well maintained. The fairways have so many cracks & craters that if your ball happens to settle there, good luck on a 2nd shot! Some of the water holes (on the first hole, for example) was dried out. It unearthed tons of lost balls. Clean it up and remove the garbage balls! I have never been impressed with Sakura--the club house restaurant. Even though I only gave here two stars, I think it is a course where you should play and find out for yourself and form your own opinion. $49 a month join club as a member... Get to play unlimited golf after 4pm. $59 and can get unlimited play for youth golfers. Really nice golf course on the wet side of the island. They done a lot of improvements like Lilly Ponds all over the place but it's sad to see that there is also already an invasion of red algae. Who what eats algae? It's a really nice restaurant and a great driving range. Need to have a bar bar in restaurant for watching sports and drinking beer and watching your kids hit balls. What the hell happened to this course. I'm just baffled at how this course has gone into such disrepair. So let's go. This week golf takes us to olomana golf course it's been a few years....like 15 years. The pro shop guys where nice. Didn't catch any attitude, so all good there. The driving range is nice, a good place to hit some balls and have beer, sitting areas to take a break. Now the course Got my death trap of a golf cart, I could easily take it on the H1 and keep up with traffic, stopping was an adventure in it's own way. I think it's hole 13 took me 60 yards to slow it down from 40 mph. Crazy. As for the course, look I understand 1/2 the course was built in a flood prone area but c'mon. There's way to work around this problem with minimal effort and expense. If your going to have a muddy course at least have FRICKIN WATER in the ball washers. I counted at least 6 holes had no water in the washers and for some time. One had cobwebs in it. Tee boxes where in rather good shape, greens where iffy at best. Fairways where uncut on 1/2 the holes. I could go on and on and on but don't feel like beating a dead horse. So, if you like doing 40mph with no brakes in golf cart while playing in mud, then have at it. Ill be back when pacific links figures it out, till then aloha. read more

Olomana golf course though not having the best fairways is still probably one of the best deals you'll find. The greens are comparable to most courses and the overall layout makes for an enjoyable round at the links. I remember seeing Michelle Wie practicing here regularly in her early junior golf years and also remember President Obama played here on one of his visits, so if it's good enuff for them then it's certainly good for most. The course also has a great driving range and well kept putting and chipping green. So drive on over to the beautiful Windward side and avoid those high priced fees you'll pay at those resort style courses. read more

Pretty good course. It's on the windward side of the island, so you don't have many tourists crowding you. I went on a Monday, and it was fairly open. Most of the people who go there are there to have a good time. The guys in front of us were mulliganing all over the place, but it's Hawaii, and no one's in any rush to go anywhere. They have some rolling hills and some interesting water hazards that you wouldn't know are there unless you've played the course before. I went with my dad, so he's familiar with how the course played. Standard snack shop with hot dogs and spam musubis. But be sure to grab your stuff early or else it'll be closed when you get back. If you're a straight shooter, you shouldn't have much trouble with the course. If your ball goes everywhere, be sure to bring a lot of balls, as the water will claim most of your shots. read more

I came here a few weeks ago, and was hoping for a great round. I was disappointed to hear that they ran out of range balls. However the practice green was really nice. The reason for the low rating are a few things: almost all the tee boxes were so hard, I broke some tees trying to place em in. Range balls everywhere on the 1 and 18 tees, I couldn't find my ball so I had to take drops. Great course with nice views. Unfortunately, $65 for a Sunday morning tee time could be well invested at another course. Hopefully, this course can revive all the tee boxes to better grass. read more

Course is a mess. Tee boxes are impossible to put your tee into. Bunkers are hard like concrete. Like hitting off the cart path. Most of the greens are in decent shape though. Not worth $60, that's for sure. Better off playing at another course on the windward side. read more

I really like their driving range and restaurant! Although the nearest place for me to practice my game is next door at the Honolulu Club, I opt to drive over the Pali and into Waimanalo. Reason 1: Over 40 tees to drive from. Even better, half the tee boxes are in the open and the other half is underneath in the shade! Reason 2: I can take my parents for a nice ride and there are several physically challenged and accessible areas for them to relax while I hit balls. Yay for family time and golf!!! Reason 3: The food their clubhouse restaurant, Sakura, has yum food! From well balanced sato-shoyu sauces to takuwan in their spam musubis, they have their local food game going on. Reason 4: FREE bucket of range balls every time you check in!!! Woohoo! You can't beat free! The only drawback to this locale I can find is the lumpiness of the course and that's my problem. If I could just aim the darn ball then I could stay on the cart path! FORE! read more

Never played the course here, but I use the range all the time. It's an older range, but not too bad on the Windward side. It's two stories where you walk down into the lower hitting area from the top. The range balls aren't too bad. I'd say average with some all beat up, but others pretty new. It's usually wide open with not too many people on the range. A good place to take kids or beginners. The price for a bucket of balls isn't too bad either. One drawback is when it gets around quitting time, the traffic around that area can get a bit bad. Getting out towards Kailua, not too bad. Going in towards Waimanalo Town, brutal. read more

I have been going to Olomana golf course more then other course. it's a good course with various of different hole. it's not flat like others course i know. it's not the hardest but yet it's not that easy. only thing about this course is that it could rain in a min and be sunny next. they have great service and friendly workers. there also double deck driving range so you can get your swing on before you go out in the field. First 9 hole has small hills but back 9 hole has giant hills which it's good practice for all different style of hole. Another good thing about this golf course is the great food at the restaurant. the price isn't too expensive and their food taste great. Normal menu food is very local style and they have everyday special that are worth trying for. over all it's not too expensive course if you are resident and it's a fun course. read more

Played here for the first time last Thursday with some friends. The course is just OK compared to other golf courses that I have been to. A little older and not as nice as some of the other courses on the west side of the island, but a fun course to play. I hit a few balls at the driving range to warm up - really liked that there is 2 stories that you could chose from. I ended up hitting from the top, giving myself a different view on where my ball ended up. The course is very dry, grass is bumpy, and has no water features but the layout and the view of the Ko'olau Mountain Range is breathtaking! The cart path is a little bumpy too- weeee! The restaurant at the clubhouse, Sakura, has great food and the workers are all very nice. I'll probably be back sometime :) read more

On the positive the food and service in the restaurant is good. As for the golf course, some improvements were made, but then it has stopped. It is very difficult to get a tee into the tee box as the ground is so hard. Bring a hammer and a lot of tees. The fairways have many, MANY bare spots. On some holes over half the fairway is ground under repair. The greens are really nice though, kudos to the grounds keeper on the greens. There was no water available on the front nine when I played recently and it was hot. Someone could get heat stroke... The snack bar is no longer open on the turn. There is no sand in the bunkers, just hardpan dirt, often the putter is a better option. In short the tee boxes and fairways need to be aerated and sanded. There should also be some sand in the bunkers. It could be a nice course, but currently it isn't. read more

If I could give it less than a star, I'd be more accurate. This course is in such disrepair right now, I can't believe that I spent that much money on such an awful experience. Pacific links should be ashamed of themselves. I love playing Kapolei, but I am avoiding all of their courses now until they pull it together. I feel like I got robbed. So much ground under repair, course can't have been aerated in any event years, and the women's tees on several holes looked like bunkers! I will stick with turtle bday, which is less expensive, well ground and they treat you better. I used to play here all the time for $35 and it was in great condition. I played here a while ago. The course is nice but since it's on the windward side, you always have to worry about it raining but they can't help that. Playing on the course when it's muddy can be frustrating, but the course itself is pretty easy and calm. The service is extremely nice, and it's usually pretty slow so getting a tee time shouldn't be too hard. read more

Played this course while we were on Oahu. Great rental equipment and I'm sure normally a very beautiful course. A lack of rain lately had the course quite dry including a number of the water hazards. But all in all we enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to play while on Oahu. read more

Um yeh dont bother. Why they even book tee times I dont know. Hardly any employees and those that are there are saying they are going to close. No mechanics, so carts wobble and have no brakes. The course is HORRIBLE. We played one hole, lost balls in the tall bushes on the fairway, turned around and demanded a refund. We got it. This was simply the worst time ever. And we have been regular golfers for years. They should just close and be done instead of hanging by a thread. Incredibly sad. We left quickly and headed to royal hawaiian golf course!! This is a good course for beginners, but the fairway has patches of dry spots and drainage issues. The ball may land where you want, but the roll will take it out of sight. A plug for the range as it has overhang, one of two (the other is Bayview). Do call ahead as the range can be closed at times. From dowtown, about 20 minutes drive. read more

Since I'm a beginner golfer, I have yet to play at the golf course. This review is based solely on the Driving range and pro shop. Supposedly they had some legal issues that forced them to close for a little while, but now they are back up and running. The range is a double decker with nice chairs on the top. A basket of golf balls which you can purchase at the shop is $4.50 + tax, and tees are $2. They accept credit cards so you should have no issues in regards to type of payment. They close at 8pm, which means the gate closes at 8. So you have to finish your basket by 7:45pm. Depending on the season termites can swarm at around 7:30pm. Also their are mosquitos downstairs which can be a nuisance. Otherwise great place to visit if you live in Waimanalo or Kailua. read more

Before it was owned by Pacific Links I used to play Olomana. It is a fun course but definitely a muni type course and not some upscale golf course like Pacific Links is showing it as. It is more famous for Michelle Wie growing up practicing there than it is for the course itself. It is on a great piece of property and the views are great. If they totally redesigned and rebuilt the entire course then it could be an upscale venue but I doubt that is on the agenda. You will be disappointed if you are expecting an upscale venue. It is all about perception. Think muni course. If you want to bang a bucket of balls or get a good price on the green fees then it is a good place. Otherwise for the price there are much better courses on the island. read more

If you're thinking about going here to play tomorrow, make sure you ask about conditions. I took an out of town friend there with another couple, and we were all stained with mud after playing. Golf shoes, clubs and bags were all muddy. I was warned when I called to reserve that it could be "limited 9 holes". We were given 18 holes to play instead, and I felt embarrassed in front of my guest by the very poor conditions. read more

This course gets an average rating from me. The course was pretty nice, but I have played on better for less money ($65 for the round). I also found it disappointing that the restaurant was closed when we finished around 5PM. Who closes the restaurant so you can't buy a brew after the round? I did like how this course is pretty isolated, thus the influx of tourists is kept to a minimum. Granted, I was a tourist, but getting away from Honolulu drastically reduces the crowds. I would definitely return to this course, but I'm sure there are better options on the island for the same price. read more

Played Olomana on 5/15/16. No longer under Pacific Links, the course is in good condition. They chopped a lot of trees down and looks a lot more open and player friendly. The greens were rolling very nice and the fairways were in good shape. From the guest service, the lady in the snack bar, to the pace of play everything was good experience. I heard that there will be a lot of upgrade in the near future as well. I will definitely return and would recommend this course. read more

I grew up playing this course. Over the years, I've seen it succeed and collapse. Heartbreaking. The new management needs to get a grip (pun intended) on how they are running the course. When I heard the course was under new management, I was hoping to witness the course to become more popular and in better condition. What a disappointment... I would love to one day hear that olomana is in great shape and bringing in business. But until then (if it even improves), I don't suggest playing there. read more
