We've been here once before and had a pretty positive experience, this time was absolutely horrible. I'm not sure what we did to upset our server or if she had already prejudged us but she was by far the worst I've had in years. We don't drink alcohol & split a meal because my spouse had a stomach ache..but still I'd be prepared to tip her above and beyond, instead I feel like she treated us like a nuisance. She came to our table three times over a period of an hour, never asked if we wanted to box up our half eaten appetizer & then had to chase her down for our check. Again, I value hard work and always feel servers deserve allot more & I would've tipped very generously because I recognize a small bill still doesn't account for allot in their pocket, but instead she got an unfortunate 20%. She was the most inattentive, emotionless & unfriendly woman I've had to encounter in the food industry in awhile. This was our first outing that we dined in since COVID started. Came for an after dinner drink. Typical liquor you'd think of. Nothing special. They do have large ice cubes for a cocktail. Good variety of draft/craft beers. The crowd seemed to be a bit younger (early 20s). Staff was welcoming. Overall, it seemed like an OK place to get a drink. read more

We waited over an hour for two burger in the heat. We have a baby who couldn't sit still any longer. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Sunday night at 6pm. The Cask & Cow is located on Center Street in the beautiful historical downtown of Lewiston, NY. The Kale & Apple salad was absolutely delicious and the portion was huge! Unfortunately, the service was really slow and seemed a little chaotic but we later learned that a server had quit at the last minute. Even though we had a fairly long wait for our food and a few misunderstandings on the order - the employees were always pleasant and eager to correct the situation. The establishment had a nice atmosphere but was really loud. I don't think it's fair to judge an establishment on just one visit so I would go again, especially for the salad. This is a pure burger joint - no two ways about that. There are other things on the menu - but the spirit of the menu lies in the handheld cow arena. The Mrs and I shared a plate of truffle fries - not hot out of the fryer, so that probably got me away from 5 stars. Wifey had a salad - aren't all salads the same [acceptable]. I had the Philly cheese-steak burger - it was perfect. Cooked a perfect medium, and the mushrooms were sauteed almost to a state of carmelization - very nice. Great bun, served with onion rings. We are frequent fliers at Cask & Cow. At least once per month and always when we want a great burger. My favorite is the bullish market. It's amazing and frankly the best burger I have ever eaten. Repeatable. Service is always good. This past Friday, the kitchen was off. We were there at 5. Ordered the chicken rinds (excellent) but with the ranch on the side. A mix up with computer updates and manual slips and they had to make it again. Another error a bit later in the ordering. Our waitress was calm, apologetic, and in the end they got it right. Sometimes things aren't perfect, it's all in how the restaurant processes the error. Great recovery and damn you guys make awesome burgers! Oh and the beer selections are excellent! 8/9/2020 - came here at 9:30ish pm, asked for outdoor seating but they said no. proceeded to seat other guests outside after-- served them before us too. waited about 20-25 mins for our food, waited 15 mins to get the waitress'/bartender's attention to get our check, waited another 15 mins for her to take the payment so we could leave. when my boyfriend called for her attention to get the check, she ignored him and started a convo w. another patron, didn't even acknowledge us even tho we're sitting in front of her. our first time having poutine in buffalo, not sure if it's authentic but it was salty af. fried wings and chicken fingers were good. the tacos tho? Had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was very good. Pretzels were great too. Mac and cheese was better than the French fries.

My husband and I came here last weekend to celebrate our anniversary and had no real plans of were to go to dinner, but let me tell you, this place did not disappoint!! We both had a different burger, and we both agreed they were in the top 5 burgers we have ever had, and we have eaten a LOT of burgers in our 50 years! We visited from Rochester, and it was our first time in Lewiston, but I believe we will be back. This is my second time visiting Cask & Cow. The first time was during friends and family night on their soft opening. My sister and I happened to walk by and noticed it was open. Although we weren't aware of it being a private event, the owner was very kind and let us join for dinner. Everything was amazing, and I am happy to report that it still is! It's hard to choose a burger, because there are so many unique options. I had a truffle burger the first time, and although I was craving it again, I went for something different the second time we visited. I split the Mac and Cheese burger (which was on special) and the Elvis burger (with peanut butter, jelly, bananas and jalapeño on it!) with my mother. Everything was so oddly delicious. It takes a true chef to take chances like that and make magic happen. The truffle fries are a must as a side, although the chips that come as a side are some of the best I've ever had. I have also had the pretzels and the buffalo chicken as apps. Make sure you come hungry because you will want to take one of everything on the menu! The atmosphere is farm decor meets Center St. Fresh, fun and laid back. The restaurant is beautiful. This location has always been a staple in Lewiston and it is so nice to see the appreciation the owner had for it to create something you can't find anywhere else in the Village! read more

I was on a trip to Niagara Falls, coming from Long Island, NY where we like to act like Covid doesn't exist. I was expecting more restaurants to be open and available like it is back home, but Cask & Cow were one of the few. So glad we came across this place! The food was awesome!! I've been to Cask & Cow many times as my husband is a huge fan of their mojo chicken wings (wings aren't on the menu yet - you have to ask). When I'm in the mood for something healthy, the kale and apple salad is my go-to, when I'm not, it's the Elvis burger (peanut butter, bacon, and banana spread - yum). The homemade house chips are really good (warm and crispy) and the atmosphere of the place is cool, but not pretentious. And, if you've read some of my other reviews you know this is important to me, the bathrooms are super clean. Kudos Cask and Cow! See you soon! read more

Was seated by host, sat outside for almost 20min, several severs walked past our table to serve other tables, we had menus and water.....never got served. No one stopped to ask if we had been taken care of yet. When we let the host know that we were going to be leaving because of this there was no attempt to ask us to stay and that he would get someone right away for us. Absolutely delicious! Their burgers are a good size and very tasty. The entree came with chips and those were pretty good as well. I ordered the pepper dip to share with the table and I HIGHLY recommend trying it! I can't wait to go back to order it again! They have a large beer menu and make a great Moscow Mule. The manager was very friendly and was up front about the wait of food being a little longer due to large parties that came in right before us. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it took a few minutes to be greeted. Our waitress was the bartender and she knew we were waiting and didn't say hello or anything to us. She also didn't give us any plates with our appetizers so we had to use our napkins. She was also extremely unpleasant and didn't make us feel very welcomed. The food will bring us back for sure. Was driving back from Fort Niagara and happened to visit this small town and came across this interesting looking place. For sure had one of the best burgers in my whole life. I don't remember what they called it, but it was the burger with brisket and sweet BBQ sauce. Freaking amazing and the potato chips were freshly cut and my friend got onion rings and holy casked cows, they were amazing too. Such an odd place to find such amazing food. read more

OH MY GOODNESS where do I start?!!!?! Okay so the waiter we had his name is JORDYN LITERALLY GOLD!! This was are first time going to the restaurant and he made my night for sure he is funny and made the time enjoyable! Even when everyone was super busy and you could tell a little he was rushed because he said "as I fled through the kitchen". Although he kept a calm manner and let's not forget how funny he is. Really wanted to love this place after seeing its burgers make a "top burgers" list by step out buffalo. I got a reservation for 6 pm on a Friday. The restaurant was maybe at 75% capacity but the food took a while to get out. I ordered a special featured burger (had mozzarella, red peppers, arugula, aioli) and my boyfriend had the si racha rodeo burger. We both liked our burgers but I only got through half because it was heavy and he got through 3/4. I took mine with sweet potato fries (good but really oily) and he got onion rings (which were doughy and unflavored). Within an hour and a half, we both started to get stomach aches and really regret our food choices. It did taste good, but it's not worth another night of stomach pain and driving out to Lewiston. read more
