My family and I came here for a birthday dinner and it was a hit. Many of the dishes were completely new to us and we enjoyed trying them all. I especially loved the red lentil soup and I was obsessed with the fesenjoon (listed as pomegranate walnut infusion). Our waiter was very attentive and helped make the night feel special. We went to Caspian for a Thanksgiving buffet. They had a large variety of vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp kabobs, fish and had turkey but I stayed with the Mediterranean theme except I had to have cranberry sauce.Their vegetable samosas were great the phyllo dough was crisp yum! I had two cups of red lentil soup I love lentil soup. The chicken kebabs were so tender they were better than turkey! The hummus and bread were awesome. I recommend this restaurant. Please don't overcharge your guests to offset the cost of your lease and former Caspian location's debt. It's absurd and simply unethical. Foothill ranch is more of a relaxed and family oriented community; similar to a small town, peoples' words get around quickly. Please note that the repeated replies of "quality cuisine" doesn't justify your insane prices. We have many quality cuisines in Foothill Ranch that don't charge an arm and both legs. Your food is mediocre at its best, but pretentious and exaggerated at the same time. As I'm sure you're aware- when it comes to food, people have ample selections in southern California alone. While we have several close-by Mediterranean/Persian food and cuisine such as H...am, Kabab c..fe, P..nini and more; it's preposterous to think that people would flock to this restaurant just because it's "The" Caspian. As such, unless your establishment undergoes a major change, we anticipate that the Caspian at Foothill Ranch location would become vacant in near future. Vamp it up, but not the prices. After months of waiting to give it a shot, we decided to go around 6:30 on Saturday. When we arrived, the place was only a quarter full with plenty of staff. Great! We thought we would have to wait a while but didn't seem like that at all. When we entered, we noticed that the front staff (4-5 of them) were giving a hard time to another family that just walked in about not having a reservation. Then we were asked 2 times by 2 different people if we had a reservation. I looked back at the floor several times to make sure the place really wasn't busy and was over staffed (which it obviously was). After hearing "reservation" so many times in a span of 3 minutes, it was clear to us how unbelievably pretentious and arrogant this place was. Thanks but no thanks. Never made it past your wall of arrogance and we never want to! read more

I was excited to try this place. The portions were generous minus the chicken and give WAY too much rice. The food was kinda plain, the meat was sort of dry, and the pita bread was extremely dry. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but not sure if we'll be back or not!! read more

I was invited to this new location for a birthday party. Food was average and they would not do family style which is the most popular way of sharing multiple plates in Persian restaurants. The presentation was a bit strange and not the usual look for Persian food. I guess the new "Caspian" is trying to diversify and cater to other ethnicities by having calamari, pasta and hamburger on the menu. The food is a bit pricy and portions are small for the money they charge. I wish them good luck but also believe this new business strategy won't work for the long term. I probably won't drive such a long distance where we have other good options in OC area. read more

I called and asked for a kabob plate with a side salad or half rice half salad. They could not accommodate. Wanted to have me order a l Carew for $42 - NoWay. I ordered from Cafe M instead. Was delicious they accommodated the side salad and much more reasonable. read more

I held a Celebration of Life reception at Caspian, and I chose this restaurant because my husband and I frequented this place when it was in Irvine and then when they moved to Foothill Ranch and we loved the food. The host, Dory, was very accommodating with our food selections--we provided all vegetarian options for appetizers (and vegetarian guests were able to order from the menu, if desired), there were shrimp kabobs for pescatarians, and meat options for meat eaters. Tea (the brand they used was excellent) and soft drinks were also provided. The food was served buffet style and they did NOT skimp on the quality at all; I received multiple compliments on how tasty the items were given the 175 guests that attended. Nothing was dry or bland--which is hard to do buffet style, IMO. The wait staff was courteous and efficient, and they were able to service all the guests in a timely manner. The venue was classy and beautifully set up--where they provided a decorated signing book table, large TVs for us to stream a video, and they had a small stage for those who wanted to say a few words. I can't compliment how well the luncheon went and am glad I chose this restaurant. As for regular dining, we STILL come here during normal business hours to enjoy the food. Most of my guests also said they would come back on regular days as well. Parking is plentiful and the area where the restaurant is situated is a great area. read more

The bartender ( I believe her name was seleil was so nice and helpful and so down to earth with is so refreshing since I feel like so many people in lake forest are snobs.
