    Build Your Own Pizza

Got a pizza and the sausage and peppers when I came here. The young guy at the front gave great service and was super friendly. The sausage and peppers were good, but nothing too crazy. The pizza was heavy on cheese and garlic, but had a good crust. I did take both of these to go so I can't speak too much about the inside of the restaurant. It was a good pizza but it was just a little too greasy and garlicky for me.

Came in for lunch on a Sunday. They had special for pizza and beer. It was pretty empty inside, but we sat outside and ordered the special that comes with 2 slices and a beer. As you can see on the top of the photo, the cooks forgot the sausage on my boyfriends pizza and they kind of just threw a whole bunch on the top. The server had told us that the cooks threw the sausage on top since they forgot to add it while making it. She didn't ask my boyfriend if he wanted the error remade. My boyfriend didn't quite enjoy the way the pizza tasted and thought the amount of sausage was overwhelming. The pizzas are pretty thick and the flavor is mediocre at best. I personally have not been back and do not recommend dining here. I came because of the good reviews, but my personal experience wasn't great.

The food here is amazing! But let me tell you about the staff, they are incredible! So this past weekend, I was eloping in San Clemente at the beach. I had been planning it for 6 weeks with another restaurant in town. When I went to finalize everything the DAY before my elopement the other restaurant ended up canceling on us. I called around and Cassano's did not even hesitate to take my party of 28 and let us have their entire patio! The day came, Saturday 9/30/23 and we were suppose to elope at the beach but it was raining, so I called Cassano's and they let us have our little ceremony on their patio! They helped us set it up, they helped organize everything with my step mom and aunts and honestly it was the cutest little wedding I could have ever imagined! The owner was hands on, so sweet and so accommodating! Shout out to Heidi our main go to person who streamlined everything! Shout out to Joe who took my endless calls and reassured me it would be amazing and he was right! Everyone enjoyed themselves! We will be coming back for every anniversary and can't wait to make a lifetime of memories at this restaurant! Thank you Cassano's for saving my wedding day, having amazing truly caring staff and the food is beyond one of the best italian food I have ever had!

I'm not going to belabor this point, but Cassano's was literally the 4th spot we stopped on our increasingly desperate hunt for a quick and relatively cheap dinner on our drive north from San Diego to Pasadena. It definitely was worth the wait, though. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, with a tight parking lot attached. We were lucky to both find parking in the lot and get a table near the window right after walking in. They definitely are a popular spot with the locals, as it seemed like every party at every table knew every party at every other table, from the parents to the kids. Dinner for me was the ravioli, because they were stuffed with cheese, served with artichoke hearts and covered in more cheese. It also came with garlic bread. My husband got the Spaghetti and added sausage. The ceramic skillet that was set down in front of me was full up of sauce, cheese, and bread. I knew the ravioli was hiding in there somewhere, and one bite of the pockets of pasta and cheese sent me straight to my happy place. The artichoke hearts added a slightly salty tang to the sauce, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My husband commented about the value - the amount of food, and the sausage upgrade - versus the cost. It really was very affordable, and they made sure you left full. The service was better in the beginning, but they did get busier as we sat there. And the noise level crept its way towards an 11. I had a bit of noise hangover walking out of the restaurant! I can see why it's such a popular local hangout, though. Lots of filling and tasty food at really reasonable prices.

    Chicken Parmigiana and a Calzone.

There are a lot of good things I have heard about the pizza and calzone over here. I finally got to try it out, the calzone that is. This is a nice little restaurant in San Clemente that is family owned and operated. Their menu has everything you would be looking for an Italian restaurant, from salad, sandwiches, pasta, calzone and pizza. Definitely make room for their mini cannolis at the end of your meal. I got to share a chicken Parmesan pasta, and a calzone with pepperoni, meatball, and spinach. The pasta was good, but oh my goodness, the calzone was absolutely amazing. I would come back here just for that again. I also might have to order the pizza since I've heard so much about it. The service was really good, and it's a nice little restaurant with a little beer/wine bar that you should definitely try out if you're in San Clemente.

Our 83 year old parents were finally able to come down for a visit. After a fun day hanging out at our homes, we headed over to Cassano's for dinner. They accommodated our large group effortlessly. Joe was our server and he was AMAZING! He made us feel welcome, joked around with us and even remembered our names. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. This was such a special day for our family and Cassano's helped us make memories to last a lifetime. Thanks to Joe and the entire staff at Cassano's for a great experience.

The gluten free pizza is really good. My husband had the lasagna with sausage and he loved it!

    Pizza didn't match my order

Pretty good pizza. Looks like a cool spot inside. But they got my order wrong. My meatball, onion, extra cheese turned into meatball and chicken, regular cheese. I didn't check until I got home, my bust. Server taking call in orders also wasn't very friendly. I guess I expected more from the #2 best pizza of San Clemente.

Love the food, super tasty and fresh. Wait staff always seems rushed and stressed. Maybe should hire more people.

The worst fettuccine alfredo I've ever had. The fettuccine was mushy and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can.

Decided to come for Father's Day and it was pretty packed, there was a wait even at 4pm. But omg was it worth it! The bruschetta was very garlicky and a great fresh appetizer on a hot day. The free garlic bread was also very good, nothing groundbreaking but we enjoyed it. Shockingly, the fettuccine Alfredo was the dish that changed my life. This was SO good, the kind you start eating and immediately wish you could take the full portion home with you. Rich, creamy, garlicky, with lots of chicken this was the star of the show. The spicy sausage ragu special was also delicious with a broiled Parmesan crust that rly pulled it together. The pizza was good but in my opinion the pasta is definitely the way to go here. The only less than awesome thing here was the house red wine - it just tasted off? I was not a fan. Next time we will try a bottle of something but it was almost undrinkable.

Wednesday night, dead quiet. Most of San Juan was a few blocks away at the concert, leaving us with the rare luxury of a peaceful patio and a little breathing room. We found a beautiful bottle of Italian wine, listened carefully to the specials like civilized adults pretending not to already know what we wanted, and split a Caesar to start, solid, classic, no nonsense. Then came the real business. Sylvia went with shrimp and angel hair. The shrimp? Perfectly cooked. That elusive sweet spot so many kitchens miss by a mile. Not rubbery, not underdone. Just right. I went for the Osso Buco, boldly promised to rival my grandmother's. Dangerous claim. But they backed it up. Deep, rich, slow-cooked soul food, the kind of dish that tastes like somebody's been standing over it all day, caring. They even brought the marrow spoon, which tells you everything you need to know about intent. Food? Five stars. Wine? Five stars. If I'd tweak anything, it's the details. The waiter and bartender were both in oversized black T-shirts with the logo. Functional, sure, but swap those for black collared shirts and the room instantly feels more polished. The patio could use a little love too. Nothing dramatic. Just tighten it up. Because in this business, especially now, the margins between good and unforgettable are razor thin. Crivello's already has the hard part nailed. A little sharper presentation, and they're dangerous.
