However, I would like to point out that they changed their 4-piece chicken dinner and it's just not the same. The nice size dinner with a breast, thigh, wing and drumstick are gone. Stopped here by chance, one of best decisions we ever made. Food was amazing ad priced right. The best part though was the service. My family and I were looking for a different take out option than your typical pizza and sandwich shop, so we ordered take out for the first time from Castaway Cafe, one of our favorite local breakfast, lunch and dinner spots. We live in Wildwood, so Castaway Cafe is a bit of a drive for take out, but it was well worth the wait (40 minutes). When we arrived about 10 minutes before our pick up time, the parking lot was nearly full of customers waiting for their take out orders. It looked almost as crowded as it has been for dine in in the past. My family and I each got an early bird special. For $11.95, you get a choice of soup or salad, an entree, 2 vegetable sides or pasta and a dessert. I ordered the the Fried Shrimp Early Bird special with Beef Vegetable Soup, Mac'n'Cheese, Apple Sauce and Chocolate Pudding for Dessert. I received 5 large fries shrimp that you could tell were butterflies and homemade breaded. The shrimp were nice and crispy and still warm. The Mac'n'Cheese is home made with lots of gooey American Cheese. The apple sauce is homemade and super chunky. It was naturally sweet without added sugar like pre-made apple sauce. The chocolate pudding was your standard chocolate pudding, but like he rest of the portion sizes, it was enough for 2 desserts. All in all, I would definitely return to the Castaway Cafe again for dine in or take out! read more

I brought my mom in yesterday for lunch. The service was absolutely horrible. There were two employees eating at two different tables that didn't acknowledge customers that walked in.. it took 10 minutes for a person to come out of the kitchen to greet us. A server was extremely rude. It was like she did not want to serve us.. We ordered too easy breakfasts the same way and it took 22 minutes for it to come to our table. We were the only customers there should've taken a lot shorter time.. their fryer must have old oil in it because our tater tots were disgusting and curly fries as well. A bit in the restaurant Bussiness and I know what raunchy is.. worst service not great food for the price. Price is a little too high for the little that you get. Only thing that was good about this place was it was clean. I do work here but I'm not just giving a good review because of that. Castaway has vbig portion sizes and they are very accommodating by sometimes making something that isn't even on the menu if someone asks for it and the place isn't to busy. If it's busy then it won't happen but it has happened before. Those are the only two things I will day about Castaway since I work there. Commenting on the quality of the food or the friendliness of the staff wouldn't be fair since I work there so I'll just let everyone decide for them selves. read more

We went here every morning during our long weekend stay. This was walking distance from our Airbnb and we were so glad this gem was near us. I don't think there's that decent breakfast spots elsewhere near there and this one is just incredible. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but we enjoyed their breakfast options. For reference we come from north jersey so going all the way down to cape may felt like entering a whole new state lol. And to find places to eat can be tricky there, but this place is great. Super nice staff and great service. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Great deals too. We would absolutely return here the next time we are in town. Thanks for making our stay even better. For a shore style diner breakfast this place was very good. We're usually Clarys or skip breakfast kind of people down here but Castaway was recommended to us. It was packed and the wait was 15 minutes for 2 of us. Menu was everywhere of course, looks like they do the full spectrum from breakfast to dinner. The food took unusually long but we realized why when it came. It was prepared/plated really well and the portion was larger than most places down here. Omelettes were huge, potatoes actually were prepared with some spices and the sides and toast were on the side. They took an extra minute to make it nice and that went a long way. I am SO in love with this place. I visited for the first time last year & instantly fell head over heels. I have ordered breakfast & dinner (on the same day) here and have never been disappointed. Their burgers are out of this world and it puts other ones that I get locally to shame. Their portions are more than what you pay for & you will never leave hungry. They are always willing to accommodate & always friendly. I visit there every time I am in that area & won't go anywhere else unless I am physically forced to. They always have new options to try out & meals I would have never imagined could be done like Cinnabon pancakes. They also bake fresh pastries available at the checkout counter on your way out. If you want a meal where you truly get your money's worth, then this is the place for you! It is always worth the hour or more (depending on traffic) drive for us! It will be for you too!! I usually don't give 5 star reviews on my first visit but this was actually a 6. On a grading system where most fail, service was an A, food was an A, price was an A+, and the wait was a bit long but with those grades you know why. Turkey club was loaded with fresh thick cut turkey, Willie Wonka would order the chocolate chip pancakes, both sweet potato fries and regular French fries were cut and fresh on premises, pancakes were very fluffy and golden, and the cheesesteak would make an Eagles fan cry for joy (and they don't like anything). We arrived here at 11:40 and the host told us it would be a 30-35 minute wait. An hour goes by and our group of five was still not seated. As we waited a group of 8 people came in with no prior reservations or calls, but was seated immediately when then mentioned they knew the owner. We were not seated until 12:50. The host messed up the seating chart and continued to seat others before us. There was no apology for the wait time at all. Once seated we waited another 40 minutes for our food to come out. The service was absolutely terrible. A group of people should not be prioritized just by mentioning they know the owners when others have been waiting. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will not be coming back. A waste of time and money!!! read more

I have been to the Castaway Cafe in three different occasions; breakfast, lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is clean and it has a colorful beach theme. But... I am very disappointed with this establishment. The service was very slow despite having only a few customers dining at the same time. They were not understaffed which I could excuse. The worst of my experiences was with the dinner. Our party of four adults and one child walked through the door at 7:00PM. Our order for drinks was taken 10 minutes after we were seated. Our soups and salads were served a half hour later and by 8:00PM. To be fair, the soup and salads were delicious. An hour of sitting and we still had not received our main course. I complained to the hostess after 8:00 PM. We were trying to be patient. There were only four tables of customers beside us, so it wasn't busy. One table came in behind us and was served before us. I understand sometimes that can happen. After 8:10PM we were served. The steaks were not cooked according to their requested fineness. I had Scallop and Shrimp Combo. Shrimps and scallops were small and rubbery. The vegetables were the canned French String Beans with dry, lumpy mashed potatoes. I paid $17.95 for my dinner and I was not satisfied for the price. There are many restaurants, pubs and cafe's that are by far better service and food quality in Cape May County. The Castaway Cafe is not one of them. read more

We had our sons rehearsal dinner here last week. We had 40 people so they closed off the back room for us. All of the food options were prepared perfectly and most people left with takeout containers because of the very generous portions. The food choices were Prime Rib, Salmon with Hollandaise sauce and chicken Marsala over pasta. Appetizers we're waiting for us as well as the house salad. The service was 1st class and the food was perfectly prepared. They also included fantastic (and large) desserts for all. It was BYOB which helped to keep down the cost and was decorated professionally from the linens to the glasses and the place settings. My Dad always has a thing for "hole in the wall" restaurants; and heard this place had some delicious food with decent prices, so we decided to check it out. I will admit the food was good, I ordered Chicken Alfredo Pasta, and he ordered the Shrimp Scampi w. fettuccine. My dinner was rich and delightfully large; so I was happy because I made 2 more meals out of it the following days :) My Dad enjoyed his meal as well. The reasons not for 5 stars is the interior could use some work, and the server we had wasn't the friendliest, she wasn't around much after the food showed up and we had to keep asking another server (a gentleman who seemed very attentive and friendly) for wine chiller for the table, extra sauces, napkins etc. because she never came around much at all! Solid breakfast/ brunch spot in Villas. I got three eggs over easy, homefries, toast and bacon. Very generous fries and 4 slices of bacon. Toast was thicker than the usual and fluffy. Eggs were perfectly cooked which is harder to find than I would like. DH got blueberry pancakes and they had fresh blueberries in them. Highly recommended. Only down side was there was a wait when we arrived and when we got inside there were open tables. They need to add more tables for two IMO. otherwise good breakfast and friendly staff. read more

Castaway is an excellent restaurant. The food is excellent and they give you a very large portion of food. The seafood is way better then Jakes since Jake's new owners took over. The Burgers are juicy and the chef is excellent. We received such excellent service and we eat at Castaway Cafe at least twice a month. My husband and I always feel Castaway Cafe gets better and better each time we go there. I find their soups so hot and tasty. It is even busy after the summer which really is surprising considering the area is a resort area. read more

Unexpected surprise! From the outside didn't expect much, but bright clean attractive interior topped with excellent service and nicely presented fresh & well prepared food.
