Just ordered 100.00 worth of food. My driver forgot part of my order there. I used a delivery app. (Maybe that's why they were so rude). I called after I was refunded for the missing salad pizza I ordered. 30.00 So I called Catania to see if I could pay them directly for my pizza and told them I'd gladly tip my driver. Whoever I was speaking to got frustrated and handed someone else the phone. The owner who is totally rude got on. Before I could say anything, his phone started to break up. Then he rudely said "hello?!" I said yes I'm sorry I didn't hear that what was your question? He replied by saying "I didn't ask a question! It's Uber eats that forgot it! We're busy! And he forgot it so I know it creates extra steps for you and me! But you gotta talk to them and they can refund you." Umm all I wanted was to pay for and receive my food but I hung up after not even getting a word in. My 64 year old mother called to records the issue cause she was so offended but he was nasty to her too. So sad. Not an ounce of kindest or respect. After 20 years of being a Catania customer, we won't return. The owner has really ruined the way we felt about this place. We have looked past his rudeness many times but this was the last straw. He's just a local kid who has a chip on his shoulder. The quality has slipped over the years under his ownership unfortunately. There are so many great pizza places. Avoid this one. I just need a change of pace once in awhile. Pizzerias have evolved and have specialty slices, more better salads and cool decor,etc. Sometimes I am feeling nostalgic and I want greasy pizza that will give me the runs. Sometimes I pay a little more sometimes a little less, they make prices up and I love that. They don't have a website and every lone looks like they haven't washed their hands in days. But you know what? Out of sight out of mind the pizza is solid and the calzones are to die for. This is a spot for me when I am in the mood for going back into the 90s. Catania's mini calzones! For over 15 years my family has relied on Catania's for their 3"x3" baby calzones for all our many calzone needs. They're available in several varieties, including traditional cheese, meat, and veal and peppers, at $20 for a sheet of 20 (you can buy them individually as well). The domed dough shields the flavorful filling and is never soggy, even when reheated. The place does mostly takeout, but there are tables so you can sit while you munch on your calzones or pizza. Tasty but getting expensive. Been coming here for the last 15 years so they do make good pizza. However the price per slice is now around 3 bucks. You might as well get a specialty slice at that price point. My favorites are the lasagna slice, the veggie, and the buffalo chicken. They alao make tasty calzones nearly the size of baseballs. You gotta try the veal and pepper and meatball ones. However, I recently bought 6 and it came out to 16.50. According to one review from 07, you could get 20 for $20. Now those 20 will apparently cost you $55. The price for calzones aren't listed so I'm not sure if they give discounts for Joey Bag of Donuts types. I grew up in Yonkers and went to this place a few times a week. Every Friday was pizza night in my house. Having moved to CA 7 years ago, I make it a point to come here every trip I make back to NY. The plain slice is delicious, as well as their calzones. It's always a toss up between the meat calzone or the veal & peppers. I usually opt for both. When it is available, make sure you get the eggplant rollatini. It is to die for and you will need a cigarette when you are done. The Italian Ices are also great in the summer months. The quality of the food is consistently good. The pizzeria isnt fancy, but serves its purpose and the atmosphere is relaxed. The lines at lunch time look long, but these guys move quick and you wont wait long at all. read more

Probably the best calzones I've ever had. They are different than most places, as they are small and square. They only make three varieties, meatball, cheese, and veal and peppers. The cheese is easily my favorite and I remember bringing home sheets of them to heat up during the week for lunch and dinner. I have been going to Catanias my whole life. They are the neighborhood pizza joint you go to for a slice. The slice I go to Catanias for is the Sicilian marinara slice. Now typically, I judge a pizza place by their plain slice. I don't think Catanias has the best plain slice. Their "special" slices are pretty traditional; sausage (excellent) salad (Very good), tomato and garlic (also very good) and the new tradition, Buffalo Chicken (pretty good). They don't have crazy slices like some other places, such as chicken marsala, chicken francese, etc. What catanias does right, I think, is their ingredients and their sauce. Their sausage slice is probably one of the better sausage slices I have had. Crumbled Italian sausage, with a little bit of fennel. Its a nice touch. But my favorite, is the Sicilian Marinara slice. If you have been to spumoni gardens in Brooklyn, you know the style of pizza i am talking about. It is a square slice, with very garlicky marinara sauce and grated cheese on top. No mozzarella. I get this pizza at least once a week. It is so good, I really do not get tired of it, even after eating it for about 10 years. It is a basic slice with good ingredients. Great sauce, great dough and crust, and thats really it. Thats all it needs though. I would highly suggest going to catania's and trying their marinara slice. It is also good reheated on the stove top in a skillet (the best way to reheat pizza). read more

Alrite here we go........I am gonna keep this short and sweet because I doubt anyone likes to read long reviews why didn't I give this 5 stars. Here is why. its not really cheap. There slices are pretty damn big but if you buy a small pie you are absolutely wasting your money because you could buy 3 or 4 single slices for less money obviously and if you lay them next to each other its 10x the size of an entire size of a small pie. Picture this a small pie is like a dominos pie....and if you love pizza then your a person who has killed an entire pie of dominos by yourself. Save your money if you are going there for a slice or two its worth it because its actually very well made the pizza and taste great. Just don't order pies that's my only advice. read more

Went to grab lunch with my fiancé. Ordered food and tried ordering a drink 3x. We were ignored 1x and then the guy behind the counter answered the second time, heard the drink order and then ignored us again to take another customer. Fine, then we asked again and he went to get the order as another customer walked in and then stopped getting us our drink. My fiancé said very nicely to the guy that we just wanted our drinks so we could sit down while we waited for our pizza to be ready. The worker said "I have to take care of customers you'll get your drink when your pizza is ready." I was shocked. I turned to my fiancé and said we needed to leave. We both were in awe and stuck for a second. As we walked out, the worker called out to my fiancé "hey buddy your drink" - completely disrespectful. I learned about this place a few years back when I moved to Westchester. The first time I had the veal & pepper calzone I was hooked. Because it is in the other direction from my commute, I don't often go until I get that "woolie" for the v&p. I will usually get a box of 6 to take home for the family. Did this place change hands recently? I mean what a disappointment. While the crust was still good (light and airy but not crumbly or doughy), the filling has been radically changed. And it wasn't just me, the family also was like WTF???? Oh, and I took a slice home as well. Puddle of grease on top (I am not exaggerating - a puddle about 2" in diameter). Doughy crust, totally lacked flavor after wiping off the grease with Bounty Towels. I am thinking the box might have been tastier. I've been a customer of this place for over 20 years and it's gone through several staff changes, but the quality of their food remains unchanged. My go-to favorites are the white pizza with ricotta cheese and broccoli and the lasagna pizza. The meatball calzones are what I like to call "little pillows of heaven". For me it's simply a good, greasy, tasty NY style pizza. Getting a fresh pie is the way to go. This is a good, old fashioned NY style pizza. The sauce is great. The crust is right.
