I went here one day for a slice after my doctor's appointment. Although it was only 11am they had the over fired up with pizza everywhere. I got a cheese slice and a grandma's and it was so delicious that I returned a couple of days later and ate in. That time I ordered a large sausage, onion and green pepper pizza with a house salad. Stopped by for a late lunch. 3pm on a Sunday. No frills old school pizzeria. There was only one guy behind the counter and he was nice to all of the customers during my stay. Told us to take a seat and brought our pizza to our table. The grandma slice hit the spot. Sweet garlicky tomato sauce. Got an eggplant calzone that I def recommend. Decided to give the lesser known shop a try. Had a plain ole cheese slice. Okay, I had 2. The crust was on the thin side but maybe maybe thin enough to qualify as thin crust pizza. Emilio's is the hidden gem of Mamaroneck Ave. For regular thin-crust pies, Emilio's wins the Ave. Hands down. It's just totally my style of pizza. No frills. Cheesy, sweet-ish crust, lightly browned, and never all floppy. Made with care and actual flavor. Some people rave about Sal's...I mean, maybe Sal has some great Sicilian or whatever, but I don't see it. And the line out Sal's's door is a real turn-off. Emilio's is never crowded or even slightly busy. Feels like you discovered a secret unknown awesome place all your own. I can't speak for their other dishes, but a pizza place is about pizza, is it not? If you want excellent pasta, go to Al Dente in Rye. If you want Sicilian, go to Sal's apparently. If you want a great quick slice or a couple big better pies with no lines and more flavor: Emilio's. Joe's is alright too, Sal's is definitely not bad, but Emilio's is never ever busy and the pizzas are superior. read more
